Can't copy songs from my iTunes library on my iMac to my iPod anymore!  How moronic is that?

  • New version of iTunes uploads CD with horrible quality?

I just bought the Twilight soundtrack. I listened to it in the car on the way home and it sounded great. When I got home, I put it in my computer and iTunes recognized it and what not. It uploaded the songs and everything. When I listened to the songs in the upload window, they sounded great and normal. However, when I went to my library and listened AND on my iPod, the sound quality is horrible and cheap and sounds like some bad internet download.
I don't know why this happened. The rest of my library sounds fine, and the songs are only poor quality on iTunes library and my actual iPod. iTunes didn't even find any cover art!
I'm really frustrated and confused as to why this is happening. Any help?

I use the error correction selection under preferences-general-import settings and do not seem to have any trouble. It does slow down the import process but not by much. Some of the earlier versions of iTunes seem to have trouble with some of the digital rights protection software but with the more recent versions this does not seem to be an issue. There are also a couple of playback options in both the iPod and the computer iTunes playback that include "enhancing" the playback. Personally I like the off setting but many people enjoy the additional surround sound and boosted dynamics. Hope this helps, I usually scan in the cover art so am not much help for that issue.

  • HT201250 How can I use Time Machine to reinstall Itunes 10.7? Itunes 11 is just horrible.

Itunes 11 was installed by accident. I hated it instantly and after two hours with it, hated it even more. I removed it but didn't know that this terrible software is a virus. It infects dozens of files in the OS and you can not go back to an earlier version.. Any version I install won't recognize either of my Ipods and gives me all kinds of errors. There must be a way to clean my system of this terrible malevolence and get me back to a good version of Itunes. I have talked with two technicians at Apple. One didn't know what to do at all and the other told me to erase my hard drive. In other words, they have no clue what this viral software does or how to deal with it. I know there are people out there who know more than Apple technicians. That wouldn't be too hard. Can anyone help me rid myself of this nightmare?

I'll tell you why. It is not only the library that is altered by 11. I was told by Apple support that it alters root files deep in the system making it virtually impossible to remove completely. What is a virus? It is unwanted software that buries itself in the system so you have to get special tools to remove it. And a virus often also alters other files to make them ureadable and causes strange sustem errors. I have all of these problems
I was updating other software that had nothing to do with itunes when this happened. A window came up saying my software needed updating. I thought the window came from the software i was trying to update but apparently it was the Apple Software Update. Why it came up I do not know. I went ahead with it and it installed 11. Itunes 11 is not a "needed" update at all. So, I have software that is not wanted or needed that buries itself in the system, causes sytem errors, alters files to make them unreadable and can not be removed. That's a virus.
I don't care about the library. I can replace that anytime. What I want is a detailed procedure from Apple developers listing what files were changed and how to safely remove and replace them to give me a working version of Itunes 10.4 that I was using before.
This Itunes 11 update is terrible beyond words. I should not have had this forced on me and neither should anyone else. Apple had no right to create this monster that has caused hundreds of people to lose data by being forced to go back months to an old OS system that isn't infected by the Itunes 11 virus.
Thank you for the response. If I am forced, I suppose I will have to restore. A drastic step for something that was entirely the fault of Apple Computer.

  • Why is iTunes 11 UI so HORRIBLE?!

The new UI on iTunes 11 makes no sense. It is massively unintuitive. Some views are image thumbnails, some are lists, but the ability to control your view is almost non-existent.
Whoever approved the new UI design should be subjected to extraordinary rendition.

Thanks!  It's those little things that can make such a major difference. Wow.  Great.
Now , how do I get the graphics to show at full size again?
How can I get my iPod Classic 160G to run the Genius app with the 9 category-based dynamic playlists?  This Genius feature continues to work in iTunes 11, but not on the iPod Classic.  The Genius menu selection on the iPod Classic now gives me an odd message about how I need to turn on Genius in iTunes.
It sure was nice when iTunes 10.7 was working.  Apple does not seem to care about people who have spent 10+ years creating huge iTunes music libraries with extensive album art and liner notes (meta data); —people who have XP 32 bit machines and do not see the point of buying a new machine.  If I had NEVER upgraded iTunes i would have been better off.  EVERY upgrade after version 6, seemed to screw up something new. I will NEVER upgrade iTunes until Apple acknowledges their mistakes and vows to correct specific errors.
If I could find a software replacement for iTunes that has a seamless transfer and all the former iTunes graphic features, I would BUY the software.  VLC -the Free media player is **** good and maybe the software!
As for going back to iTunes 10; —forgeddaboudit.  Thomas Hardy said you can never go back...

  • Are anyone else's ID3 tags all jacked up after upgrading to iTunes 11?

I have a large library that I'm downright OCD in managing tag information. All are set at v2.4 and genres, album artist, groups, both track and cd #'s as well as album art have been MANUALLY scrubbed religiously upon import to ensure a manageable library. I've noticed in the past that iTunes does a fairly horrible job in actually changing the ID3 tag info of the AAC or MP3 file itself resulting in horrible tag info when using the files in another system (Chrysler's MyGig system, Microsoft's Sync system, etc.) but iTunes always listed the songs correctly, making my smart playlists, sort and playback very easy and clean. That is until I upgraded to iTunes 11. Apparently they've re-read all the file ID3 tag info as I now have MANY different genres listed and album artist info has disappeared as well as track listing info. Do I need to get an external tag editor and redo all the tag editing I had done previously to now clean this up or have they fixed iTunes to do a better job of actually editing the file info itself?

Get Info on the song within iTunes is how I know the comment field is empty.
I don't have Match or iCloud enabled.
All other tag info is there and left untouched, only the comment field is blank. Tried removing and re-adding the tracks multiple times, but that didn't help.
Reason this annoys me is that I add information to my comment field such as additional genre/style information, band origin or location, related artists, etc. Very helpful stuff for smart playlists.
I can try Stephen Spark's suggestion to convert my ID3 tag version, but I've never, ever had to do that before, so, if iTunes 11 is suddenly only reliably reads one correctly it seems to be a bug with iTunes.

  • Can't Export to iTunes

After finishing a GarageBand file, my iMac G5 won't export into iTunes. It's gets to the end of the slidebar and then just sits there. Nothing.
Also, I have been unable to install any iTunes upgrades since the horrible 7.0 or 7.01 version. The installer opens and it won't go past the "preparing" window. I get the following in the Installer Log window:
Package Authoring Warning: The installer script defines but doesn't use (and can't install) package id manual version 8.0.2.2230000.1687.
I've tried removing the prefs files from both GarageBand and iTunes and I still have the export problem and the inability to upgrade iTunes.
Any solution besides a clean install (which I had just done a month prior to the problems beginning)?
    Thanks!

  • ITunes store using 100% of CPU

Since upgrading to iTunes 11.0.4, performance of the iTunes store has been horribly slow, taking 5 seconds to register a keystroke and using 100% or more of the CPU. Any idea what's up?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Color in iTunes 10

    Please!!!!!!!
How can I get the color back in iTunes. It looks horrible and boring.
    Thank you.

I would really love to know as well. I think color should be default and gray should be optional. I know this has been mentioned several times, but this is really a key step backward. It enhances the overall appearance of iTunes, but in an operating system that touts its user friendliness, this was a bad, bad idea.

  • My iTunes library is not reflected in icloud

I recently purchased iTunes Match.  It scanned my local iTunes library.  The results were some songs were puchased, some were matched, and some were uploaded, although no upload actually occurred because the whole process took about 1 minute.  It says there are 2300 songs in my cloud but when I turn on iTunes match on my iPhone I only see about 1400 songs.  Also, I can't play certain tracks.  I push play for certain tracks and then it immediately goes to the next track.  My experience with iTunes match has been horrible and Apple offers NO support for this product.  It just DOESN'T work.

The service does work. From your description the initial scan, match and upload process is still running. Look in the left hand side column, under Store. Do you see iTunes Match with a spinning wheel beside it? This means the initial process is still running and it is uploading your files.

  • Itunes 9.2, ipod touch 2g 8gb, ios 4, Wont sync, itunes doesnt recognize

Ive been through 100s of help sites and discussions, none of which have matched my issue. I have an Ipod Touch, 8GB 2g. Just bought it not too long ago. I updated to iTunes 9.2 (Please note my 3.1.3 firmware loaded itouch worked on itunes 8.2 but not the updated 9.2). Here's the issue. Whenever I connect my itouch to itunes, it doesnt give me any errors. Infact, on the left pane under devices, it shows my ipod, but the only right click options I have are "Eject". In the right pane, in the center of a big white space, it says "iPod" and thats all. There's no restore/update/backup sync buttons nothing. There's NOTHING. Ive tried putting into recovery mode. Ive tried updating to iOS4. Ive tried putting it into recovery mode in iOS4, still nothing. Same issues... and now after updating to iOS4 im stuck in "Connect to iTunes" on my ipod. Cant connect my ipod to my other computer with itunes 8.2 Its Horrible. What do I do now?

i'm encountering the same problem. just bought my ipod touch 4g  32G a couple of days ago. it took a long time for my itunes to recognize the new device & when it did i got an error msg saying that it won't sync. im running on 7 ultimate too. i've tried restoring it to no avail. i tried unplugging/re-plugging it from the port but it will still not show up in itunes. i've tried disabling the firewall & enhanced usb just as it was suggested in other help forums & still no luck. (i'm no computer savvy so i just rely on the help forums...its a hit or miss thing) i hope there's a kind soul who would be able to help me/us who are stuck in this issue.

  • How can I download fresh copies of EVERY purchase?

I tried iTunes Match for a while and found that it took forever to download music to any of my devices, so was basically useless. I turned it off everywhere - iPad, iPhone, Mac. After doing this, I started noticing that many songs were corrupted - they play part way through, then are truncated somewhere in the latter half of the song. Upon investigation, many are also missing. It turns out that well over a thousand songs are affected, all purchased from the Apple Store over the last decade. I have a backup on Crashplan, but it has since been overwritten by the damaged material. I have now been testing songs one at a time for days. I have no way of telling if they are damaged except to scroll to the end of the song and see if it has an ending or not, or attempt to play it to see if it turns up missing. If I could, I would perform a search on iTunes for every song in my "purchased" list and then delete them all, then just re-download them, but this does not appear to be possible. It's enough to make me want to drink a Drain-o cocktail. There must be a way to have iTunes just replace every song it has a history of with a new, fresh copy. Right? I can't believe I *paid* for this "service."

Thanks, but I am all too familiar with this feature. I have been painstakingly doing this for days. I have over 2k of songs in the Purchases section of iTunes. What I would like to do is bypass the mind-numbing task of finding and deleting only the songs that are listed there, and simply replace every matching song with a fresh, uncorrupted copy. Why does iTunes require that the corrupted copy be deleted first? Isn't there an option to bypass that ridiculous requirement and just refresh what's there? Especially when iTunes is what messed everything up in the first place? I already mistakenly replaced an iPod ($250) and bought a new external hard drive before I realized what was going on. I'm really quite angry that this could happen and there appears to be no way to fix it. ITunes Match is a horrible, horrible thing! Not only does it not work at all, but it hoses your library too!

  • Automatic video sync with Ipod

My downloadet (and podcast downloadet) quicktime.mov files doesn't automtic convert to my Ipod. (the mark is checked in preferences). I have more than 200 .mov files in Itunes and it is horrible to do this manually. Is there a way to do it automaticly?
If a mark all videos and convert them, anyone knows what happens to the ones that is allready converted?

  • Unacceptable Errors after 10.5.2

    This needs to be fixed:
    1. Audio skipping horribly- rendering my entire music library unlistenable.
    2. Video's in Quicktime/VLC skipping horribly
    3. Iphoto Slideshows skip and pause horribly
    4. Computer won't wake from sleep
I have observed Activity Monitor and nothing is hogging my CPU. I have no processes running except itunes and its still horrible. Someone please help, I hate my computer now (this is the third macbook pro I've owned).

That sounds like hard drive I/O problems. Have you tried doing the usual repair permissions on your HD post upgrade? Excessive problematic read / writes would cause what you are describing without hogging CPU.

  • No audio on my videos???

I just bought two music videos from iTunes and both skip horribly and neither have any audio. They're from the American Idol Gives Back, and I'm just trying to play them directly on the computer. Is anyone else having this problem/knows how to fix it?

Is anyone else having problems listening to the audio on video purchases on I Tunes.
    Yes.
