Itunes 11.01 horrible

I can't stand the newest iTunes - how do I go back to older version?

Many thanks
It's not that I don't like the new look, in particularly the new mini-player is excellent.
simply that the sidebar / playlists is more convenient for the long and tedious work of cataloguing big multi-disc sets and splitting them into one playlist for each separate work.
When I've finished the Bach cantatas, I should start on Haydn's 104 symphonies, currently packed into 33 CDs.
But it's worth the effort. As I move more and more discs into the digital workflow - or should that be EARflow? - I don't often play the physical CDs any more. AirPort Express feeds them straight in to the hifi

  • The new iTunes format is horrible

What happened to iTunes? There are so many stupid animations and sub-windows, it takes forever to load the iTunes Store page. The new format to preview songs is horrible too as is the Power Search result window. After doing a Power Search for a Title, iTunes chooses to show me only a dozen or so choices of what IT thinks I want to preview, then one must choose "More" to see the entire list. Whomever came up with the new format should be forced to use a PC as punishment!

  • ITunes 7 IS HORRIBLE!!!

DO! keep posting about how HORRIBLE iTunes 7 is and how Apple's response to their POS software is HORRIBLE! As I posted earlier today, I find it confusing that Apple is so slow to fix one of the FEW good things about them. They NEED to stop blaming Microsoft for their DUMB* mistakes and start searching for ways to fix them.

  • My itunes is so horribly screwed up...

After my computer hard drive crashed i lost my itunes. Following another tutorial i backed up everything on my ipod and restored it to original settings. After that when i went to set it up again using the backup it goes through the process and when it's done all i have on my ipod is my old pictures. It didn't give me my music or apps back. To make matters worse, every song on my itunes can't be located so i cant play them, also when i go to my ipod from itunes, it just wants me to restore it again, which i have done multiple times. Can anybody help me?

Backups of iDevices have never included media.
The media should be in the iTunes library on the computer.
Use the backup of the computer to put all the media back.  Not sure where you got the idea that wiping and restoring an iDevice would magically put the media back in iTunes, but as you've found out, it does not.
If the content was purchased from iTunes, it should be possible to redownload the content.

  • Itunes 11 is HORRIBLE - How do you sync Apple TVs now????

Gee thanks apple for FORCING me to see 851 items in my music library that I didn't want to.
It was so much fun MANUALLY deleting them all so they would not display.
I can not figure out how to sync new content to my Apple TVs.  Where the heck is the sync button???????????

I am probably even more ****** off than you are. The lesson here for us is to never update something if it works fine and you're happy. I had no reason to update iTunes and so I shouldn't have because it was working perfectly. I take responsibility for stupidly updating it.

  • ITunes 10 is horrible at syncing...

I wish Apple would be more thorough before releasing a new version of iTunes instead of seemingly forcing a new version out haphazzardly. I've not had a new version NOT have a problem initially.
Right now, only about half of my new downloads sync to my iPod on the first try. Yes, after I re-sync it a second time, everything seems to copy over ok, but come on.

Yes. I'm facing the same issue where I'll star a song and then two days later it plays again and at that time it's no longer rated. Not happening to all songs, but a good enough number of them where I'm getting quite frustrated. However I'm not getting the bug where a song repeats several times in a row.

  • ITunes video lagging horribly

I've been having this problem for awhile now: Whenever I try and play a video in iTunes - be it movie, TV show, music video, or video podcast - the video lags. The audio often works just fine, but the video is choppy, as if I'm watching a slideshow or a series of pictures rather than a video. Video works fine on the internet, and in the majority of my video players, it does as well. Please note that I am only trying to play iTunes bought videos in iTunes - the videos have not been tampered with in any way, so there should not be a problem there.
I am using a Windows XP Pentium 4 CPU, 1.50GHz. I have 512 MB of RAM on the computer. It is not a new computer by any means, but it is also not terribly old. I have had this problem with several other videos in unrelated video players, but that is due to a codec issue that refuses to be solved. Besides that, other videos work fine. It is only iTunes videos that are not playing.
Someone please help me figure out what's doing this or how I can fix it. Or if I can fix it, if it comes down to that, because this is getting seriously annoying.

Just updated iTunes to most recent version. Now I'm getting jerky video playback in BOTH iTunes and QT Pro (latest version). CPU use is very high but random; ditto with video playback (i.e., doesn't hang up on the same scene/time).
I had this issue a little over a year ago after updating iTunes to the then latest version. Got nowhere with Apple's "Service" texts. I played around with configs for a while and also re-installed iTunes. It has worked fine until yesterday (same symptoms as last time). As for the past "fix": nothing I can hang a hat on. Methinks Apple updated the version I re-installed with (tho' the version # was unchanged).

  • Am I Losing A Decades Worth of iTunes Now?

I AM asking a legitimate question just please hear me out for once.  And also pleaes understand: disabilities come in all forms.  I'm not one of those jerks who has whatever the issue du jour is and takes it and claims that its my "thing" and that you cant use it to discriminate against me or I'll run off and "tell" - I mean I really do have brain damage and its very hard for me to make my point sometimes....so if I dont get there quite as fast as you want me to please just please please please STOP deleting me.
I mean I should think that the thousands of complaints all over the internet are enough to show there is some validity to mine that my posts would not need to be deleted on the basis of not meaning anything.  Or however it its being put.  And if I forget to dot an i or cross a T please dont get rid of it for that either just let me know and I will fix something!!!!!  The problems themselves are God-awful enough just dont make it worse by stifling me here on the only place that I thkn I can go to for help.
OK ....so...thats kind of out of the way.  I'm on a Mac.  I've got the new iTunes.  Its horrible.  I dont see the majority of my music and even less of my audiobooks.  I see about 75% I guess? of my apps.  Those have never gone missing before.   And the thing I've never bothered mentioning before just because all of the other issues are just so much more important is that all of my ringtones are also gone.  I dont even know what else is gone or misplaced or screwed with to the point of super-user unfriendly becuase its just all so not user-friendly!  And just like I've been forced to think and say constantly the past several months ever since this has become an epidemic with other websites (so if I mentioned this on previous posts...maybe I am repeating myself, but this IS what is happening!) these guys in Geekland are just having a ball showing off their skills.  Here's what its like:  Its like we live in a society where only a few people do all of the cooking.  And those few people just now discovered pasta.  And they're really excited about it.  And they REALLY want us to know just how excited they are about pasta.  So now every single thing we eat & drink has pasta in it, whether its needed or wanted or relevant to anything at all.  Pasta, pasta, choke you to death on pasta whether you like it or hate it, pasta.  But what they need to realize is that we have got years of our lives invested into other foods - whole gardens & stores buiilt up on other types of foods!  Eating macaroni 3 times a day might be good for some dude in Silicon Valley who wants to be a show off, but its creating a morbid obesity epidemic and leaving all of us constipated.
So anyway, tech guys at Apple, I am very happy for you that you discovered all these amazing designs and layouts & whatever that you can do with iTunes but stop forcing them upon us just because you find it exciting that you can come up with innovation.  A. maybe we are NOT impressed, maybe we dont care.  B. Maybe we would like to be left the heck alone....never asked for it?  and C. now what is happening for the first time ever is that I am growing resentful of Apple as a company & considering doing what I never thought I would.  Need I even mention what that is?  It sure would save me some money.   (I was sort of broke when I got this and found a place that let me finance this on credit...i was on a message board once & mentioned that I have a MBP and someone just slaaaaamed me for being a member of the bourgeiousie or however you spell it.  I was like yeahhhhh...youre real close.)
Desperately trying to revert back to an older version but its nearly impossible when youre missing (literally) an entire chunka brain.  (mamillary gland)  I do get around semi-fine - other parts always make up for lapses in 1 part of the brain but its not the easiest.  So I try to do things with 2 windows open or using a paper + the laptop or my phone + the laptop or whatever but just depends what I've got going on at any given time.  So Operation Try To Downgrade iTunes has gotten NOwhere so far.

You may find making iTunes 11 look more familiar is an easier option for you.
    From the top menu
    View > Show Sidebar
    View > Show Status Bar
lick on the blac arrow in search and untick Search Entire Library.
iTunes should now look more like you are used to. You may find you do not need to downgrade
Ringtones are now called Tones and are at the top in the left hand panel.
Here is a link on how to revert to the earlier version of iTunes

  • I just recieved a new Iphone 4 ysterday, and am trying to install some apps but every time I try it says it failed to sync is it a messed up phone or a itunes problem?

Either the new Itunes is a horrible update or apple sent me a messed up phone, either way I have 2 problems with my new phone and the new Itunes. First I cannot install apps, after almost 30 times trying with restarts unplugs and major frustration building. Second when I first enter Itunes the bar at the pottom shows that I have ample storage room left on mu Iphone but when I click on the apps tab it says I have 2.3mb free what is going on?

As this is not my first Iphone nor my first Itunes device that really doesnt help me. I'm well aware of how to sync, and do pretty much anything Itunes allows, and with the knowledge I have aquired form the years of using Itunes am not very happy with the new Itunes. My problem still persists unable to sync, and storage still showing less room than actual. Thanks for the try though. I'm going to attempt to uninstall again and hopefully it works.

  • Downloading selected playlists to phone, but keeping iTunes Match functionality?

I did look around for the answer to this, but found nothing that answered the question specifically.
I have an extensive music collection by most standards.  It's about 180gb and "weeded" out to eliminate the bad songs.  I have it organized into playlists that I listen to almost exclusively, as the collection is too large to just hunt and find stuff when you just want to hear music.  I essentially do a genius playlist and save it as a new one to listen to.
I travel a lot to places without cell service, and that is where I listen to music essentially 100% of the time.  Out on the river on a boat for example.  iTunes match is horrible for this, as I found out the first try, and had to dig out CD's to get me through the trip.
I have paid for iTunes match, and listen to iTunes Radio primarily at the house every day streaming from the phone.  Works great.  Because of the lack of coverage though, I need to download my music onto the phone and keep it there, which has required me to shut off iTunes Match on phone.  This turns the radio into a commercial machine though.  Even though I own iTunes Match, if I don't have it enabled on the phone, it acts like I don't have it and I get commercials. Weak.
Lastly, I have downloaded the music onto my phone, turned on iTunes Match once downloaded (someone elses solution) and it deleted it as soon as I synced my phone again
How do I download say 50gb of music onto my phone and have it not delete it as soon as it syncs again?

There are two methods to get large amounts of music onto your iPhone.
    1. Turn off iTunes Match, sync the music via USB, then re-enable the service. The music shouldn't actually be deleted. The service isn't supposed to work that way.
    2. Download the playlist to your iPhone via Wi Fi while on your home network.

  • How to install iTunes 11.4 back?

A few days ago I made the foolish mistake of "upgrading" (if you can say that) to iTunes 12 on my MacBook Pro (with OS X 10.8.5) and now I am in the biggest remorse... iTunes 12 is horrible, lacks of sidebar and make sync with iPhone / iPad a real nightmare. I tried to go back using my Time Machine backup but Apple has guarded their backs protecting the app from being replaces... so I tried another way: first I deleted that c.rap with AppZapper and then I reinstalled a fresh copy of iTunes 11.4 from a dmg installer (unfortunately all iTunes 11 installers were removed from the website) but I cannot get it working When I open iTunes an error message pops up warning that a system file is missing and iTunes should be reinstaled. I suspect that the "upgrading" has changed some system files besides the app itself and I am unable to go back... any help would be appreciated.
As all Apple updates since iOS 7, iTunes 12 is a mess. First iOS 7 and now iOS 8 screwed up all iDevices (short battery life, slow performance, and of course a childish awful design that hurt my eyes), then Mavericks (that turned my 16-Gb 512-SSD Core i7 Macbook pro into something similar to a cheap PC with Windows Vista!), and for the comments I've read on some forums OS X Yosemite is a handfull of trouble too. Fool of me installing iTunes 12... hope resolving how to roll back to iTunes 11.4

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select
              File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

  • Is Home Sharing supported with Tiger and Itunes 9.2?

Having difficulty home sharing ITunes libraries between two MacBook Pros with different versions of Itunes.(9.2 and 10.5.1)  Appreciate anyone's experience
    with this.  FE

i can't get the photos to sync at all.
maybe this is related to vista going in sleep mode and waking back up?
but this isn't fixed on a reboot either.
my god itunes is a horrible piece of dren.
is there another way i can get my photos on my ipod without having to rely on itunes?

  • ITunes keeps clearing my library!

OK, hoping someone out there can help. iTunes has just cleared my library for the 6th time (no exaggeration)! In the latest occurence, I had added my music folder, as well as my apps from my 1G iPod Touch to my library. 24 hours later, I try to access my library and there is absolutely nothing in there! iTunes seems not to be able to keep my library for more than a week.
As adding all my music and apps from my computer and iPod takes a long time, my frustration with iTunes is thru the roof, as I am growing tired of having to make a library from scratch. In addition, when my apps are actually in my library, when I go to sync my iPod, iTunes never fails to rearrange my apps on my iPod.
Both these problems have been discussed in the forums, but I have tried people's tips with no success (e.g. de- and then re-authorizing my computer didn't fix the library problem). Am I missing something, or is iTunes just a horrible program?

It's something on your PC, as most folks don't have these troubles. The big culprits are
    1) security software interfering with itunes saving its database file
    2) A Sony Vaio running the Vaio Content Watcher program
Here's an older thread that's similar. The most difficult part is finding out what other software on your PC is conflicting with itunes.

    Good luck!

  • I can't exit Mini Player in iTunes 11

It's simple really. I can enter Mini Player using Ctrl+Shift+M but then I can't exit it. I can bypass it by pressing "Go to *artist*" but it still doesn't close.

I am having the same problem that the person who started the thread is having. iTunes 11 is horribly broken on many levels. I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 10 until they figure out what they are doing. @Barrie Newcombe - I'm sure many people run the software without this particular problem. I don't think Apple would release software that never worked for anybody. Those of us who are experiencing the problem are looking for information regarding the problem we are experiencing.

  • ITunes can't read its own library/claims damaged

I'm running iTunes 11.1.1 on OSX 10.8.5 on a late 2012 Mac Mini. iTunes 10.x started complaining on startup that the library file is damaged and can't be read. This persists today after upgrading iTunes.
After starting and renaming the old library, it shows my purchased music from iTunes Store, with horribly broken album cover art. I've tried re-importing my music and after reading it all in it is unable to access the saved library after restart.
This began on a RAID drive, and I've the same issue on my Mac's internal drive when I change the media directory.
iTunes can read a saved version from June 2013 that it backed up, but upon exit and restart, it complains that the library is damaged.
    Any help would be appreciated.

What's the option key? I think I'm having the same problem, except I moved my library to defrag the drive and them moved it back. And now iTunes doesn't see my info or playlists or anything...
