ITunes 11.02 update - video and audio no longer working

I updated to iTunes 11.02 last night.
Now, I can't play any video or any audio files, whether using iTunes or Quicktime. Even online Vimeo and YouTube content won't play. Clicking the play button does nothing - the movie or song's progress indicator doesn't move.
In Sytem Preferences > Sound: I get the following message for input and output devices "No input device found" and "No output device found"
There doesn't seem to be a way to check if the graphics card is recognised but it's still showing up in the system profiler.
Looks like the iTunes update has completely nixed my laptop's video and audio capabilities. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I do a lot of SONY HRD FX1 native 1080i HDV capture with Final Cut Pro 5 on my PowerBook 1.3 GHz G4..
Before Apple started supporting HDV, getting the audio and video lined up was such a nightmare that it wasn't even worth working on projects.
My material works great inside FCP 5, but I have had similar problems to what you describe when making the DVDs
However, I use DVD Studio Pro and was able to move the audio relative to the video slightly to get the most important parts to line up. However if your audio and video clips aren't the same length then you will have variable slippage for long clips.
I have been using MPEG Power Professional (Heuris Inc) to do my MPEG2 video encodes as well as my audio encodes and I haven't had the problem lately.

hello recently my video and audio chat stopped working for no apparent reason. i just got back to school and are on their internet network and i cant video or audio chat. It just worked last semester and while I was at home so i don't see why it wouldn't work. it says that my remote IP address is invalid when i try to accept video chats and when i try to send them it says that i am not responding. this is what it said the last time someone sent me a video chat:

They are doing something like connecting twice to the same router:-
Either by Wifi and Ethernet (but also between their own router over Ethernet and WiFi to a neighbour)
Started to use a MIMO device
Have Internet Sharing On and creating a second link to the internet via another computer/device
Using Parallels which turns On Internet Sharing AND creates two VPNs in System Preferences > Network that need turning Off.
Basically the iChat at the other end appears to be at two (or more) places on the Internet. (it's a bit like picking up the handsets for the phone in every room in the house).

Video and audio chat not working

Hi All,
I also have problems with iChat. I tried it before leaving home with two macs on a wireless network. Worked well. Im now overseas and the text chat works ok but both the video and audio chat fails to work. The buddy receives the telephone tone informing him that im trying to chat and once accepted the chat fails and the error message is "buddy failed to respond". Not sure what to do to get this working. Please help as it worked from room to room but not country to country???

The Log can be expanded when it pops up and the top part of the log can help us to pin point things for you.
The Logs are also stored in User(your account)/Library/Logs/iChatConnectionErrors
Error 8s refer to port and NAT issues.
The details can isolate where to some extent.
We will need to know the connection device you are using at both ends (Modems and routers) ?
How you have set them up (DHCP, Ports opened, methods used) ?
What you have done on each mac to set up iChat and the Mac for iChat

Firefox updated, Video download helper no longer works, no error msg. I have uninstalled both Firefox and VDH, reinstalled, VDH still does not work, Why

Video Download Helper does not work after most recent update. I have cleared cache and cookies, uninstalled both Firefox and the helper,that has not corrected.When Firefox does an update are the "vendors notified so they can see if their product needs changes in order to be compatible? This may sound like a stupid ?, but it makes sense tome. Telling me to download something else, in my eyes is not REALLY solving the problem.

Don't uninstall 36. Just download and install 35 over top and you don't lose any data. I already did and everything works just fine. But I did remove VDH first.

Video and Audio no longer line up

I don't know if this question would be better placed on the iDVD board but I've had a lot of luck with my questions here so I thought I'd give it a shot here first.
I'm working on a FCP Native HDV project and I spent a lot of time lining up certain spots in the video with the audio track (which is an aiff song file). Everything plays perfect in FCP. I exported as a Quicktime reference movie (the top export option) and brought the file into iDVD. After iDVD encoded the video, the audio and video are no longer quite in sync (I noticed this when previewing through iDVD and after saving as a disc image, mounting, and playing back with DVD Player). I think they start out in sync and go slightly off (the audio gets slightly, maybe a 1 or 2 frames, behind the video). I'm guessing this issue is happening in iDVD's conversion process and I was wondering if there is any way to fix this. Anyone had similar issues? Thanks everyone.
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4) 1.67 GHz PowerPC, 1 GB RAM

I do a lot of SONY HRD FX1 native 1080i HDV capture with Final Cut Pro 5 on my PowerBook 1.3 GHz G4..
Before Apple started supporting HDV, getting the audio and video lined up was such a nightmare that it wasn't even worth working on projects.
My material works great inside FCP 5, but I have had similar problems to what you describe when making the DVDs
However, I use DVD Studio Pro and was able to move the audio relative to the video slightly to get the most important parts to line up. However if your audio and video clips aren't the same length then you will have variable slippage for long clips.
I have been using MPEG Power Professional (Heuris Inc) to do my MPEG2 video encodes as well as my audio encodes and I haven't had the problem lately.

Bluetooth and Audio no longer work after 10.8.5 update

Hi,
I just updated my MBP (MacBookPro3,1) from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5. After reboot my Bluetooth is "not available" with a squiggly line through it in the menu bar and my audio is greyed out. Has anyone else had this problem? I tried using the combo updater, resetting the PRAM, clearing system caches etc. and nothing seems to have brought it back to life. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I've been struggling with this for 2 days, since I upgraded to 10.8.5 which I needed to go to get the latest iTunes, which I needed to upgrade my iPhone and iPad to IOS7 . . . yes, right down the garden path I walked

After the 10.8.5 upgrade Bluetooth is Not Available, same as seanluck13.

Apple BT keyboard and trackpad can't be used. MacBook trackpad is worn out and I get wrist strain trying to activate it!
I read on a forum that a fix was to reinstall the system over the internet after a CMD-OPT-R restart. Did that -- 5 HOURS LATER -- NO CHANGE, BLUETOOTH STILL ABSENT !@(%&( )TY(@Q#*!!
Please someone help me before I throw this Mac down the garbage shoot. At the moment that's only a fantasy.

Ichat video and audio is not working only with one friend

Hi there,
i used to video-chat with my best friend every other day. We both have OSX 10.5.8. Maybe 4 weeks ago suddenly we always get an errorcode when calling each other. Sometimes it says the other one doesnt anwer but he gets an error message. He and me can still video chat with all our other friends!
Only in between us it doesn't work. Both ways don't work (who ever calls). We both have an iMac 21.' with intel prozessor.
Text-chat works!!
If another friend calls both of us, we can chat the 3 of us together!
Any suggestions?

This has been an issue now and then for all versions of iChat

The most common reason is setting Port Forwarding in a router to open the ports and leaving On the DHCP Server.
This means that now and then the Computer IP may change and the Port Forwarding may require you "point It" at one IP - which the computer no longer has meaning the ports are not open.
The next is the way some devices actually Do NAT (Network address Translation).
There are 4 main ways with cross over between them as well.
This may raise it's head if you or your Buddy have updated the Firmware to your router.
I would check System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming is at 1.5Mbps at both ends.
I would double check the routing settings at both ends.
UPnP if you have it is "Better" is that it allows Multiple computers (IPs) to use the same Ports so you don't have to turn Off the DHCP Server in the router.
Thomson-Alcatel can have symptoms like this due to the way they handle SIP data.

Printer driver for workforce 645 was updated yesterday and printer no longer works, driver is no longer available from apple or epson.l

When i go to the epson website it says the printer driver is available from apple. When i go to the printer selection it sees the printer but says that apple has no drivers for this printer. In the updates section of the app store it shows that the printer driver was update yesterday.

Thank you for clarifying. Your question is in your browser, not in iTunes. Each download link is different, and it has nothing to do with the File menu. You can save media files by secondary-clicking on the link to the media file and selecting Save File to "[your downloads folder".

Video and audio not synchrone with apple tv after update mountian lion on macbook pro

i have a problem with my apple tv. after i bought and instaled mountain lion on my mac book pro i have trouble with apple tv and my laptop. when my laptop conects with apple tv most of the time my wifi doesnt work on my macbook but on my apple tv it stil does work. when it does work and i play a movie of my own by using itunes the first second the video and audio is synchrone but after that audio is at normal speed but the video gets behind. and i am getting sick of it. does sumbody reconize the problem and can help me with this problem?????

Same issue here- I can airplay my amazon prime library just fine from my iphone 5 but on my macbook- (mavericks, 15 inch 2013 retina with quad core i7, nvidia 650 M and SSD) it just sputters and lags.
I have noticed web video is considerably worse than local content, giving me pauses of up to 2 or 3 seconds in which video stops but audio continues in the amazon player. Youku video, however, seems relatively stable. Our subscription speed is 25 mbps, so that should be plenty to stream SD video from Amazon and doesn't account for why it would be nice and stable from the iphone, but not the mbp.
Playing light, locally hosted steam sidescrollers like Limbo is better but gives periodic drops in framerate on the Tv. when mirroring the framerate remains steady on the MBP screen.
Games airplayed from my iphone seem relatively stable, though with a noticably lower framerate on the TV than on the phone.
It seems these issues have abated considerably since yesterday's Apple TV update, but are still curious nonetheless and I'm not sure that the update yesterday was specifically meant to address those issues or if I'm just getting a time with less network interference now.
Comcast recently installed a new router/modem/phone combo, replacing our old separate modem and router setup. I'm going to test if putting the network on a different channel helps.

My first two thoughts
• Shared to Media Browser - BUT as Large or HD - try Medium !
• audio from iTunes - use to go silent
- in iTunes
- Create a new PlayList with needed audio
- BURN this as a standard Audio-CD (.aiff) - NOT .mp3
- use the files on this CD in Your Movie project - I ALWAYS DO - and only use .aiff ever - never .mp3'
My notes on this:
No audio on DVD disc.
Most common origin.
1. Imported audio from iTunes.
• In iTunes copy out as an Audio-CD .aiff (Same as played on standard Stereo CD - no .mp3)
• Use this in Your movie project
2. Low - Free Space on Start-up/Boot/Internal/Mac OS Hard disk makes it hard for iMovie to work as intended.
Down to 1.3 GB and it doesn’t work - especially audio don’t migrate over to Media Browser
(iM’08 & 09)
3. Material in iMovie’08 & 09 - Shared to Media Browser and here selected as Large
large.m4v. It silenced out this project in iDVD. By making a slight alteration - provoking it to ask for a new Share/Publish to Media Browser and here selecting 640x480 - and audio was back when a new iDVD project was created including this movie.
Minuscular - - 176x144

4. Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies — except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format — that I have noticed.
7. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
• In iDVD 08 - or - 09
• Burn from DiskImage with Apple’s Disk Utilities application
• OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

Choppy Video and Audio in Chrome after update to Yosemite

Anyone having the same issue as me? In Chrome my video and audio is choppy (play 1/2 second, pause, play again, etc). If I close Chrome (and quit all the way), and restart all is good for a few hours, then right back to the choppy playback (YouTube, Pandora, anything...). Only since updating to Yosemite. Any tips/suggestions?

I have this issue as well.
Only way I know to fix it is to CMD + Q and quit the Chrome process entirely. I'm a web developer so it's super awesome when I have to kill my 20 browser sessions just to fix this issue.
I have confirmed this issue happens in the HTML 5 video player as well as in Flash video.
NOTE: In the video below the audio/video skipping is part of the recording.

Video and audio choking

Ever since I upgraded to Moutian Lion I'm having an issue where my video and audio streams are choking while doing anything. For example, I'll be streaming spotify and working on a photoshop file (below 20mb file size), and the audio will start cutting out or sounding like an old cassette tape getting eaten by the tape deck. Can anyone lend a hand?

One other thing to note. It's not my internet connection. It happnes when I'm playing iTunes files that are saved locally. Again, when my second cinema display is plugged into thunderbolt, I get the latency in the playback (both video and audio) while doing even basic tasks like internet browsing. If I unplug the display the problem goes away. I'm fully up to date on all OS updates and Firmware updates.
