Hello, i have some new iphones from family friends im trying to plug in. Itunes opens fine without any unrecognized devices plugged in, once an unrecognized iphone is plugged in it crashes upon trying to open iphone data. All the unrecognized iphones are restored and left at the begginning setup process. It will crash with an iphone 4, iphone 4s and iphone 5s.

Hello there, sothavok.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great pointers for troubleshooting issues like the one you are describing:

  • ITunes 11.2.2 keeps crashing after starting itunes match

After starting iTunes match on my macbook pro it starts, looks through all the files, then states it is uploading the informatio to apple. At which point it then freezes with the spinning wheel of color. I have no idea why it won't sync to my itunes match, my PC library is syncing just fine. I have tried reinstalling it to no avail. Any thoughts?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • ITunes, iPhoto and system clock crash after migrating from Snow Leopard

    Hello everyone,
I had MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard but had to migrate to older one with 10.5.8 today.
After 4 hours it finished and everything seems fine except 3 things:
    1. iTunes crashes on each launch attempt. I even followed an article to uninstall it, got a new one from apple.com but I still have the same issue.
    2. iPhoto opens with success and shows folders overview, but when I click to enlarge a photo I get a blank screen. After about 2 minutes the program quits unexpectedly.
    3. System clock behaves really strange. It seems to ignore time zone settings completely. I select Melbourne, Australia and quit Sys preferences but when I get there back I still have GMT time. Setting manually gives me nothing - time of email is still GMT.
Anyone have seen similar problems after migrating? My primary guess is that this issues are caused by migrating to older Mac OS version, but maybe it's not the point. Anyway, would be great to have this fixed. Without iPhoto, iTunes and proper times in e-mail inbox my Mac is pretty useless...

I installed this update, restarted but nothing helped. By permissions - what do you exactly mean, how could they change or what could be broken?
I also noticed that what is broken as well are the PYM Player and Quick Time. When I open a movie, I got the sound but no video output at all. It is similar to iPhoto where I see the miniatures but normal size viewing goes blank.
Does anyone has a clue what can be broken that causes such problems?
My Mac is now really just an e-mailing and surfing machine...

Sorry for that. I had some issues with reproducing the problem. It seems that i can reproduce it only on fresh restart.

  • Mountain Lion crashes when plugging in firewire device.

I am running Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on an Early 2008 Mac Pro.  Everytime I plug in a firewire camera to capture video the OS crashes and reboots my machine.  This also happens on my late 2011 MacBook Pro.  Any help is appreciated.

Yes, I have tried different firewire cables and such.  Removed my firewire hub, tried plugging into the actual ports on the MacPro and plugging in the firewire ports on the back of my Cinema 30 display.  I even bought a new firewire cable just to make sure.  So for now I guess I am going to downgrade my MacMini to Snow Leopard and use that machine to do video capture.
So last night I removed the primary harddrive from the MacPro.  I installed a new 1TB harddrive. Formatted that drive and did a clean install of Mountain Lion and ran all software updates.  Crashes when I plugin my firewire cameras with no other software but the OS.
So then I reformatted the drive and did a clean install of Lion and did all software updates.  Still crashes.
I formatted the drive for a third time, this time installing Snow Leopard.  Did all software updates.  Plugged in my cameras one at a time and no crash.  I installed iLife '11 and was able to video capture with iMovie via the firewire port.
I am pretty convinced that my hardware (at least) is in working order, otherwise it would have crashed with Snow Leopard also (correct me if my conclusion is incorrect).  So I am inclined to agree with you that I may have triggered a bug in the OS.
Thank you for your insights.  How do I go about reporting this issue to the Apple Software Engineers?

  • Adobe reader crashed after I root my device?

Hi! I have rooted my Pioneer P3 smartphone using this procedure playfuldroid.com/how-to-root-gionee-pioneer-p3-tutorial/ but it doesn't seems like I have missed out any step or brick my device as everything else is running smooth. However after my device is rooted, my adobe reader seems to crash when I open it. Should I reinstall my adobe or should I unroot my device?

I do not believe that rooting your device is the direct cause of the crash in Adobe Reader.  You certainly do not need to unroot your device just to run Adobe Reader.
Please uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader to see if it stops crashing.

  • Why does Xcode crash after it finds a device for development and I press "ignore"?

When I try to program with java, inevitably, Xcode detects an iOS device and asks me if I want to use it for development, even with bluetooth disabled. When I press either button, it crashes. How do I stop this?

It's likely that the startup drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. Do this before the warranty expires.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

  • 11.3 crashes after starting

Every time I start iTunes 11.3 x64, it crashes after the UI appears with a message 'iTunes has stopped working.' Closing the program is my only option. I notice that it is about 60% through "Gathering information about your iTunes library..." for Genius when this happens. I can't use the app at all. I have reinstalled and still get the error. Any ideas?

iphone crashed after update it wont recognise itunes when plugged in and do anything besides display itunes needs to be connected please help

"I bought it a couple of weeks ago"
Bought it from where? I ask because given what you have already tried, it would appear that this iPod needs either service or exchanging for another one.
Did you buy this as new from a reputable source?

  • When I plug in my iPhone 5 w/OS 8.1.2 and try to sync. w/iTunes 12.0.1 it crashes.

When I plug in my iPhone 5 w/OS 8.1.2 and try to sync. w/iTunes 12.0.1 it crashes. Any fixes?

I noticed this problem, iTunes displayed my iphone, but crashed soon after, with the color spinning wheel.
I did the following things and it worked for me.
I downloaded the last version of itunes, remove iTunes.app with CleanApp, and all these files.
    /Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bun dle
    /System/Library/Extensions/AppleMobileDevice.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AirTrafficHost.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreFP.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DeviceLink.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iTunesAccess.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
I restarted, installed iTunes, restarted again and I was able to sync again.

  • ITunes 6 crashed after connecting iPod

I upgraded to version 6.0 after having problems with 5.0. Everything was working fine with 6.0 except the CDs (not recognized by iTunes). When I connected my iPod to sync, a message came up "iTunes has encountered an error & needs to close." My iPod works fine, however now iTunes will not open. I'm running NIS 2005, which I shut down, of course, during install.
    Thanks!!

    hi Yvonne!
It's just sitting there doing nothing when I attempt to lauch....
hmmm. that one's probably your NIS 2005. first see:
    b noir, "itunes wont open" #6, 02:11pm Oct 3, 2005 CDT
... and it's plausible that Norton might be causing the crash-on-plug-in too ... odd things can happen when antivirus packages think that the hard drives that they should be scanning include an ipod.
once we get your itunes launching again, let's try an experiment. if you disable Norton first, can you plug in the ipod without crashing your itunes?
