ITunes 11.1.3 doesn't recognise iPhone 5

Hi,
I cannot Sync my iphone 5 to iTunes. I have tried to follow many other explanations for fixes, but I get stuck at the first hurdle as my phone isn't recogneised in the devices menu option; it is all greyed out.
It isn't the connection to the computer as it sync perfect with iPhoto and charges fine.
Am I missing a simple step? It has me baffled.
Thanks

A few options.  First, perform a restart of your device (press and hold the HOME button and POWER button at the same time until you see the Apple logo).  Then try to reconnect to itunes.  Restart your computer.  Completely uninstall itunes and reinstall it.  Try using a different USB port.  Try using a different USB cable.  Create a new user with administrator privileges on the computer and try launching itunes.  If these options do not work, try this article.  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538

  • ITunes 64bit version doesn't recognise iPhone 4S

I would like to synch my iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 to my PC and installed iTunes 64bit, however, it doesn't recognise my phone with a warning "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then  install the 64bit version of iTunes". I have remove iTunes several times and re-install but no change. Anyone has any ideas?

  • ITunes freezes and doesn't recognise iPhone

Hi, I've got an issue with my iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.0.1. Everytime I connect it to my PC (running on Windows 7 32-bit), iTunes freezes for a few minutes and doesn't recognise the device. I've been searching for the solution for a couple of days now and have found the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1141495&start=75&tstart=0
Fix provided by BeeBopp work for me but only until I reboot my PC. Then I have the same situation - having iPhone connected to PC, iTunes freezes and doesn't recognise the device - so I need to go to Device Manager and update the drivers manually even though they seem to have been installed correctly (I have Apple Mobile Device on my list before I update the drivers), but I need to point Windows to use the drivers from
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers\usbaapl.inf
    I have already tried:
-completely removing iTunes and its configuration files
-reinstalling iTunes (the newest available version)
-removing iPhone from the devices list and reinstalling Apple drivers
Nothing works - everytime I reboot PC, I need to update drivers manually.
Do you have any idea what's causing that? Thanks

  • Itunes 11.1.4 doesn't recognize iphone

i am running Windows 8 (ugh) and can't get itunes 11.1.4 to see my iphone 4, IOS 7.0.4.  This has just recently started (my last backup thru itunes was 1/9/14.)  Also, the pc sees the phone as it appears in the devices & drivers section of my directory.  I can move pictures from my iphone, too.
When I plug the usb cord into my computer, i now get a message on my iphone about whether or not to trust this computer.  I say yes & then I can see it in the directorys.  This is new - it didn't use to do this.
I have repaired itunes from the control panel & have double checked the settings for Apple Mobile Device as per the discussion http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Well, I figured it out myself. I read the comments/notices that the USB 2.0 has to be in working condition to use it, and I switched cables around, but ended up with them in the same place. I know they work; I've used them before. I have a charging case that uses a micro USB cable to charge, which USED TO be able to connect my iPhone 5 to the Mac. Since the iOS 7 upgrade, the Mac doesn't see it. I de-cased the phone, used the lightning cable and the Mac saw the device.

I right-clicked the iPhone in Device Manager and chose Update Driver (for me, the iPhone was showing up in the Device Manager under Imaging Devices).
I selected "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and clicked Next.
I chose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and clicked Next.
In the next window there were 2 drivers to choose from: the "Digital Still Camera" driver that my PC kept thinking the iPhone was, and Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. I selected the Apple Mobile Device driver.
The driver installed, and at that point iTunes 9.2 could finally detect the iPhone. Yay!"

  • ITunes 9.2.1 doesn't recognise my iPhone 3G (Windows 7 64-bit)

    Hi there
I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.2.1 and the software no longer recgnises my iPhone. Windows does recognise the phone, but it doesn't show in Devices on iTunes. I've tried all the tips on the Apple website several times now (uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, rebooting, removing all apple products) but nothing works.
It worked fine before I upgraded to iTunes 9 and incidentally my iPod shows up fine. Please help I can't sync my music, calendar or contacts.

I had the same problem at first install. My phone, once plugged in, was not being recognized by either window or iTunes. Same OS and same version. I tried switch USB ports and had no luck. Finally I changed USB cables and for some reason that fixed it. It finally allowed the update of the drivers to kick in and then my iPhone be recognized.
I am not sure if this will help or not but you might give it a shot. Please note that the first cable that would not recognize at first was a 3rd party and once I grabbed a new cable to try it was a apple specific.

  • ITunes doesn't recognise iPhone after switching back from Windows 7

    Hi all,
I've searched Google and this message board for this issue, but haven't found any mention of it.
    Here's the problem:
I have Windows 7 installed on a boot camp partition. Any time I switch into Windows 7 and then back to Mac OS X (latest version of Snow Leopard) iTunes (both 9 and 10) refuses to recognise my iPhone, meaning I can't sync or transfer any files to my iPhone 4.
The only way I've found to solve the problem is to reinstall iTunes, which is really not a good solution. Rebooting into OS X from OS X doesn't work either.
Has anyone else come across this issue and/or found a fix for it?
I don't use iTunes on Windows 7, or even have it installed (although I did try installing it to fix this problem, and that didn't work either)
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hello again, GiannisFromAthens.
At this point, considering that the primary issue is with getting the Windows update resolved, we need to get that taken care of first. To do so you may need to consult Microsoft, or whoever supports the installation of Windows on your computer, for more troubleshooting to resolve it.
Once that is resolved, if you are still experiencing the issue, you may find better information by using another of Apple's Support resources at https://expresslane.apple.com/GetProductGroupList.action for a more hands on response.
    Cheers,

  • ITunes 9.2 doesn't recognise iPhone 3G

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked/answered already, I couldn't find it if it has.
Since installing iTunes 9.2, my computer does not recognise my iPhone 3G. That is, when I plug the phone in, it doesn't start charging, and neither iTunes nor iPhoto think it's there.
However, when I go into System Profiler, it does show up as being connected to the USB port.
So far, I've tried restarted both iPhone and iBook multiple times, with no success. I've also reinstalled iTunes, which didn't help either.
Really grateful if anyone has any tips! I'd really like to resync and have a go with iOS4...
    Cheers.

I've tried a couple of different cables without success, having checked through here there seems to be a few people all asking the same question which made me think there must be a 'scientific' fix for it....!
Can't find anything on the support pages other than uninstall and reinstall iTunes, which I'm not convinced will fix the problem, I was hoping that was a patch somewhere.

  • When syncing iphone, turned itunes match off, itunes doesn't recognise iphone :S

Fed up of the glithcy iTunes match on iphone, so turned it off and so I could sync music from itunes, but after i turn itunes match off, itunes no longers recognises my iphone and says it is a new device and needs restoring? Turn itunes match back on and it fine with itunes? Guess it's another bug with itunes match! Hope they sort it out soon!

Does the device is recognized in a different user account or on a different computer?
You could try to follow iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X or reset the sync services OS X: Resetting Sync Services.

  • Iphone 2g connect to itunes mode and pc doesn't recognise

    Hi,
I am not sure how or why but my iphone went blank today, I assumed that the phone had run out of battery, I plugged it in but it did not seem to charge. Next the symbols for connect to itunes came up so I connected it to my laptop but itunes would not recognise it, the symbols stayed on then it reset after a few minutes. I have reset the phone and nothing. The phone is locked to O2 and it has a tesco mobile sim installed. I have had the phone for 3 months and it has worked fine.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Phoenix,
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I think you missed a sign somewhere along the information highway. This is the Numbers '09 forum, where the general topics concern techniques and issues involving Apple's spreadsheet application Numbers '09, part of the iWork '09 collection.
Your question will likely be served better if asked one of the forums in the iPhone section of Discussions. The link will take you to that section.

  • TS1591 Itunes doesn't recognise iphone 5s on iMac

All of a sudden my iTunes won't regognise my iPhone 5s.  It's a 64g & almost full, but there's almost a gig spare.  I backed it up this morning and it said it was all good in iTunes, but iPhoto froze mid way through the upload so I force quit it.  Not too keen on restoring to factory settings.  Anyone have any advice?  Could it be from downloading a dodgy app or visiting a dodgy site?

Try plugging in to a different USB port next.
After trying that try uninstalling your iTunes then reinstalling. There's like 6 components to iTunes and they have to be deleted in a specific order. Use this article to do so correctly http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
After deleting download only from apple.com/iTunes to ensure its the latest version.

  • ITunes 10.3.1.55 not recognising iPhone 3gs/iPad 2

Hi I hope someone can help!
I updated to latest iTunes when I purchased iPad 2 and for three days all was fine.  I'm running a 64 bit laptop on Windows 7.  Yesterday the pc ran a windows update and installed some security changes, not sure if this will have been the issue.
When I went to synch either the iPad or the iPhone today, the pc recognises the device bringing up the usual what do you want to do with this, but in iTunes nothing happens for a fair few minutes and then I get the following error message with an exclamation mark:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the <device name>. Go to the Summary tab in the <device> preferences and click Resore to restore this <device> to factory settings."
I reinstalled iTunes and it seemed like the problem was solved and I managed to get iPad 2 synched however iTunes froze while in the back up stage of synching the iPhone 3 gs and I had to close it down from the windows task master.
Now my iPone 3gs won't work due to the failed synch and when I try to do the system restore it gets so far and then brings up the critical message error:
"The iPhone could not be restored.  An unknown error occured (6)."  I was able to restore the iPhone to factory settings on another machine, but then unable to restore from back up when back on the laptop.
I've checked that I have the latest Apple Mobile Drivers and have uninstalled and reinstalled just to be sure.
I'm running the AVG Free Anti Virus and Zone Alarm Firewall.  I've checked the Zone Alarm Programs and ensured that iTunes is ticked for access to everything.
I'm stumped and my phone doesn't work.
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Wealie

Don't reset your phone.  Resetting will return the phone to factory settings and you will loose everything.  Spend some time working toward a fix.
You might want to try a different USB cable.  It is possible that your cable conincedentally went bad.  I have had this problem before - even cables that will chrage the phone sometimes stop working for data purposes.

  • ITunes 10.5 sync doesn't finish iPhone 4S 5.0.1

When syncing my iPhone 4S 16GB 5.0.1 with itunes 10.5 using a Macbook Pro 10.7.2 it freezes at the last step 7 of 7. I had the same problem with iOs 5.0 and the update didn't change a thing. iTunes is still accesible, but it doesn't finish the sync. All I can do is deconnect the iPhone in the Devices of iTunes, but it give a warning that it is still syncing. When I check the iPhone and iTunes, everything seems to be ok and purchases and apps are either downloaded on the iPhone or iTunes. On the iPhone there is still the little wheel turning to indicate the sync and in iTunes there is the same little wheel next to the iPhone in Devices. Any idea anybody??

I'm experiencing this problem for the first time - frustratingly, while upgrading to a "new" (hand-me-down) 32GB 4G - on OSX 10.6.8. This phone has the iOS 5.0.1 update installed, I'm trying to restore my old phone's data from backup. All the data appears to be there up to mid-October (from looking at text messages), but the sync wasn't finishing. I hit "cancel," and now the cancel isn't finishing. I'm gonna leave it overnight, but I'm not expecting it to finish.
