ITunes 11.1.4 tanked my iTunes on my HP

Hey, My iTunes stopped working after the install of 11.1.4.  I have performed all of the suggested action, uninstall, new downloads, possible Microsoft fixes and I am still getting the Error 7.  Is there a fix coming out or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Was the library working before this?  Macs cannot write to NTFS drives without special software.

  • Why Are Think Tanks Removing Podcast Subscriptions from iTunes?

Over the past year a few of the think tanks have ceased to use iTunes to host their podcasts.  The most recent is the New America Foundation, which chose to move to SoundCloud as a host platform.  Sadly, this erodes the one stop sourcing that makes iTunes valuable to podcasts listeners.
Does anyone know why such professional nonprofit organizations are finding iTunes suboptimal?

Or, again, they might just not have remembered to update their feed. If they list feeds in a lot of places, it wouldn't be that hard to just forget one or two. New America still claims their podcasts as being on iTunes:
    http://newamerica.net/podcast
though nothing new has been listed in a couple of years, so I'm guessing that they just didn't change the feed, or for some reason weren't able to get it changed, as opposed to it being a decision not to list with iTunes.
    Regards.

  • ITunes tanks iMac

Bought a new iMac and iPod, but in trying to use iTunes I cannot access movies in iTunes Store. Each time I click on the movies tab in the store, the machine shuts down. Puzzling. Happens every time. Have deleted and reinstalled latest version iTunes to no avail. Any idea what might be going on? Thanks.

You can just connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes and  click File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, to transfer songs  purchased from iTunes on your iPhone to your computer.

I have an ipod nano classic and suddenly itunes doesn't read it, only charges the battery. What can i do? Thank you

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • How do I use a NAS file system attached to my router to store iTunes purchases?

We have four Windows devices networked in our house.  They all run iTunes with the same Apple ID so when any one of them has iTunes running, we can see that computer on our Apple TV.  Two run Windows XP, one runs Vista Business, and the newest runs Windows 7.  Upgrading all to the same Windows software is out of the question.  Our NAS is hung on an "off warranty" Linksys E3000 router which communicates via USB with a 1TB NTFS formatted Western Digital hard drive.  Our plan when we set up this little network, not cheaply, in our 1939 baloon construction tank of a house, was to build our library of digital images, music, and video primarily on that device.  It supports a variant of Windows streaming support, but poorly.  The best streaming support for our environment seems to be our ethernet connected Apple TV which is hung off the big TV in our family room, and has access to the surround sound "Home Theater" in that room.  We've incrementally built up collections of photos, digitized music, and most recently educational materialsd, podcasts, etc. which threaten storage limits on a couple of default C: drives on these windows systems.  iTunes, before the latest upgrades, gave us some feedback on the file system connections it established without going to the properties of the individual files, but the latest one has yet to be figured out.  MP3's and photos behave fairly well, including the recently available connection between Adobe software and iTunes which magically appeared, allowing JPEG files indexed by Adobe Photoshop Elements running on the two fastest computers to show up under control on the Apple TV attached 56' Samsung screen!
Problems arose when we started trying to set things up so that purchases downloaded from the iTunes store ended up directly on the NAS, and when things downloaded to a specific iTunes library on one of the Windows boxes caused storage "issues" on that box.  A bigger problem looming in the immediate future is the "housecleaning" effort which is part of my set of "new years resolutions."  How do I get control of all of my collections and merge them on the NAS without duplicate files, or when, for example, we have .ACC and .MP3 versions, only the required "best" option for the specific piece of music becomes a candidate for streaming?
I envission this consolidation effort as a "once in a lifetime" effort.  I'm 70, my wife is 68 and not as "technical" as I am, so documented procedures will be required.
I plan to keep this thread updated with progress and questions as this project proceeds.  Links to "how to" experiences which are well documented, etc. may be appreciated by those who follow it.  I plan to post progress reports and detailed issues going forward.   Please help?

Step 1 - by trial and error...
So far, I have been able to create physical files containing MP3 and JPG on the NAS using the Windows XP systems to copy from shared locations on the Vista and Win7 boxes.  This process has been aided by the use of a 600 GB SATA 2 capable hard drive enclosure.  I first attach to Win 7 or Win Vista and reboot to see the local drive spaces formatted on the portable device.  Then I copy files from the user's private directories to the public drive space.  When the portable drive is wired to an XP box, I can use Windows to move the files from the portable device to the NAS without any of the more advanced file attributes being copied to the NAS.  Once the files are on the NAS, I can add the new folder(s) to iTunes on any of the computers and voila, the data becomes sharable via iTunes.  So far, this works for anything that I have completely purchased, or for MP3's I made from the AIC files created when I purchased alblums via iTunes.
I have three huge boxes full of vynl records I've accumulated.  The ones that I've successfully digitized via a turntable attached to the sound card on one of my computers and third party software, have found their way to the NAS after being imported into iTunes and using it to bring down available album art work.  In general I've been reasonably well pleased with the sound quality of digital MP3 files created this way, but the software I've been using sometimes has serious problems automatically separating individual songs from the album tracks and re-converting "one at a time" isn't very efficient.

  • Itunes Library was erased from my computer -Ipod synced and HELP!

Sorry - I am a brand newbie to iPod.
I recently got my 'pod. I loaded it up with a zillion mp3 files, and more, including videos I coverted from my Dvds and some videos I bought through iTunes.
    All was well for weeks.
THEN - my computer crashed, and my computer tanked, taking my itunes library with it. After getting the computer going again, I reinstalled itunes.
I had the mp3s backed up (most of them anyway) on disks. I loaded some of them back into the library, and tried to sync. First thing - my ipod HAD been named "Kerin's ipo"
Now it just showed as a drive letter "E". I loaded some files in the library, and synced. My ipod is set to manually update. I don't know how it happened, but it seems to have uploaded the new library control files or something?
This is the thing - the ipod still shows pretty "full." I had 25 gigs of teh 30 gigs free. It still showed only 5 gigs free.
When I show the "hidden" files, and look in the music directory, I see LOTS of files - but they all have funky names like XYZAV.mp3. When my mouse hovers over them, they show info that tells me the 'real' name of the file, such as "get info" might include. But the files are in no logical order. The videos are all mixed in and songs from one playlist or album are scattered over all the many folders.
Further, the new files don't seem to be actually in there. I DID see all the new files in the music and song list - but they wouldn't play - when I went to song view and started to play, it just loaded all the song names one after the other, but never played a note.
After erasing all the (i was afraid corrupt) music files and syncing again, the song folder is now empty again.
However - as mentioned before, the properties in My Computer list the ipod as nearly full still.
    My questions:
    a) how do I rename my ipod (not even sure how i did it - had something to do with the first time I connected the ipod to itunes?). I don't want it named "E" I want Kerin's iPo back. When I connect it as a disk, btw, it is still named that. But in iTunes it just shows as "E".
    b) How do I get to view my old directory structure and songs again? they are obviously still there!
    c) I have software (I've tried two diiferent ones - which both seemed to work ok before all this happened - Share Pod and another) which would let me get my unprotected songs BACK off the ipod, if only I could see the old directory from my ipod! But right now, neither of the programs seem to see the files that are clearly there and playable in the hidden folders. How do I get these files visible to the sharepod software? I assume this means I need a directory file or something for them to work from?
Can anyone help me sort this all out? I am not sure where to start, even for so simple a thing as making my ipod name show up again, and why won't it play the new files, let alone, why does it still show completely full?
If it were empty, I guess I could start from scratch - but there are things not backed up anywhere else yet, that I'd REALLY like to have back before I try completely brainwashing the pod and starting from ground zero. Also, I spent a LOT of time loading 25 gigs of stuff on there - I'd rather not have to do that all again - if there is some way to recover what is on there already, I'd love that option.
    Please help!
Thanks in advance to all the marvelous people who help each other here. I have been reading through these forums for hours and don't see answers to this situation - maybe it's so obvious, that's why no one has bothered - but I didn't see it in the online manuals, or here in the forums... maybe i'm searching in the wrong place? If someone can direct me to answers, I'll be MOST grateful!
PS: I'm not computer illiterate - just ipod dumb! Just got this darn thingie!

    a) See: How to rename your iPod.
b & c) If you can still the view hidden files, see this Music from iPod to computer.
"I see LOTS of files - but they all have funky names like XYZAV.mp3"
That's normal. When those files are back in iTunes they'll have the correct names.
Once the files are back to your computer (and only then), you should restore your iPod. It would appear that the hard drive has become corrupt and unreadable.

  • HT4009 I bough pinball arcade in app purchases ( all pinball machines that were available  ).  Now that I have new iphone, Itunes charged me again to download them on new phone.  They then told me they could do nothing.  Help.  They are ********.

I bought and downloaded pinball acade from itunes in the last year.  I bought all in app puchases possible ( all pinball machines). Downloading them to my itouch an ipad as necessary.  Sometimes they would crash and I would simply reload them.  I bought a new iphones this week and while putting this app on my
new phone (with in app puchases) I noticed my balance on my Itunes account was going down faster than my gas tank.  They were charging me again  I contacted Apple and Itunes and they told me it was not there problem and I needed to contact Pinballarcade.com.  That is like buying a washing machine from Sears and after having problems, they tell me to contact Kenmore.  I have bought thousands in music and apps over the years.  I will start switching to other services in the future.  I also have an occupation that allows me to interact with the public.  Whenever the opportunity allows,  I will tell them of my experiences.
I did try to contact pinballarcade.com, but the website is not working, and I am running out of patience.

The Same thing happened to me! I lost about 15 Tables from all first 3 seasons and I contacted their shoddy support email, and got a response saying that I should do this that and the other thing and I followed their advice only to get the same result....All of those table are still only available to me if I purchase them!  I am so upset, I think I lost about $60.00 in purchases for which I have all my receipts for....Anyone know an answer?  No snarky replies please, what do you have to gain from that..I'm sure we've all been screwed by in-app purchases before and you know what a shock it is.  Thanks in Advance!

  • Itunes don't sync from pc to iphone

After install the new IOS5 and itunes 10.5, itunes seems that isn't working like it used to be. one of the coolest features that I like in itunes is, Iisten a podcast in Iphone, when I arrived to a PC I sync with Itunes and I can start listen from the point that i left, and this is working correctly. what stop working is from the PC to Iphone, I end my working day i used to sync the iphone and on way back home I continue listing from the point that I was on PC. I already tried to look for some settings but i couln't find anything that looks related to this problem.
tanks in advance for you help,
    Nuno

Also, the bookmarks on my PC were partially corrupted by the sync process. I just had to restore an old set of bookmarks & overwrite them onto my PC. I really don't want to risk having this happen again.
I am primarily on my desktop PC - that is my primary unit. This list of bookmarks should be available on FF for android on my phone and tablet.
Any advice about making this work, without risking the corruption of my main bookmark list again?
    Thank you!

  • IPhone isn't recognized by iTunes; won't charge via USB

I recently switched a friend to Mac/iPhone and things haven't been very smooth, unfortunately. His MacBook video card appears to be faulty (the screen appears to "breath") and now his iPhone has stopped connecting to the Mac. I'd say that Apple's hardware quality control has really tanked in recent years. I also bought a MacBook and am having video card problems too. Very disappointing for a life-long customer (25 years and counting!). Anyway, back to the iPhone...
My friend's first problem with the iPhone involved the "device not compatible" warning. It just started to appear randomly, despite the fact that nothing was connected to the phone's dock connector. Sometimes it would appear every few minutes. Then he'd go a day without seeing it. Now it has stopped appearing altogether. I urged him to do a restore on the phone, so he connected it to his MacBook and...nothing. The iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes, nor will it charge with the USB cable. It will, however, charge with an iPod FireWire adapter.
Needless to say, he's frustrated, not to mention very disappointed with the hardware quality. Two lemons. Not good.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on with the iPhone??? Unfortunately our local Apple Store is closed until Wednesday for remodeling! Ugh.
    Thanks much!!!
FYI, my friend's MacBook Pro is running 10.4.10 with all recent software updates and patches applied.

Have you tried to reset the iphone, holding the sleep and home button together for 10 seconds?
Also, a firewire cable only charges the iphone. You will need a usb cable to sync - the usb cable does not allow for charging I think.
When opening the preference window in itunes, there should be a Sync icon, all the way to the right, when clicking on that Sync icon - I think it is the iphone icon - does the name of the iphone appear in the window?

  • Podcast Will Not Update in iTunes

I have a podcast that was working and updating perfectly up until the 5th episode. The feed is working properly: (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fppadv.com%2Fnewsletters% 2Fpodcast%2Fpodcast.xml)
and I am able to download all the episodes onto my computer if I subscribe. Any ideas on how I can update the podcast listing in itunes?
    Here's the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/potratz-think-tank-tuesday/id275218965
    feed:
    http://ppadv.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
    Thanks

Yes, there is a feed at that address: but it's not the address registered with iTunes. You need to place the feed at that URL:
    http://exclusivelyautomotive.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
If you can do that you can place the redirection tag in that feed to redirect iTunes to the new URTL, as detailed here. If you no longer have access to that URL you are, to use the technical term, stuffed.
In that event you have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • Itunes does not recognize my iphone 4 device

I bought a new computer, tried to install itunes, after three different people tried to help me, i finally got itunes to install, but when I plug my iphone into my computer, itunes does not recognize the device.  I am trying to 1. upgrade my iphone soft ware to 10.5.3, utilize icloud, and perform basic functions of syncing my phone with my computer. Any help, anyone could provide would be appreciated.
    Tank you,
    Rose

If your iTunes is the latest version, restart your computer and reboot your iPhone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPhone restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • I have an ancient Zen...Need support with firmware updates/itunes use/drivers/idk what the heck e

I have a really really old Zen. It's full title is "Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra" or something of the sort. Recently I bought a ton of music off iTunes and realized I could not burn it to CDs and could not transfer it to my Creative using the software I'm currently using. And then, someone told me that there was a "pulg-in" that could be downloaded to transfer iTunes music to my Creative. (She also had the same player) Now the only problem is... I've never updated software for my Creative, never downloaded anyhting other than music to it. And I have no idea where to start. If anyone knows what I have to do... or where to start, please please please let me know. It would be really nice to get my music from iTunes to my Creative.
My specs - For the Creative Medai Source organizer I'm running the 2.02.06 version. And for the actual player I have no idea. Probably somethign similiar I'm pretty sure the player was bought in 2003... If someone tells me how to check the players verision I'll gladly do it.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Due to the age of the player, I imagine it's extremely unlikely that Creative will update software and firmware so that your player will work with newer OS. I fear the same thing happening to my Zen Touch - it's a great bit of kit, built like a tank, surperb sound quality, battery still lasts forever, but the latest PlaysForSure firmware upgrade is probably going to be the last and then my player will be obsolete. No company is going to support old products forever - how will they sell their latest products? This built-in lifespan of?many electronic devices is a sign of our consumer market I'm afraid.

  • I upgraded my iPhone 4 from iTunes to 5.0.1. Now everything is gone; photos, contacts, all gone.  It has been restored to factory defaults.  All I did was push the button to download and install.  How can a programmed upgrade to this?  Is there any way to

Is there anyway to restore back to where I started?  I just downloaded and upgraded, hands off.  But it looks like the phone has been set to factory defaluts.  I saw a message to that effect but then the process continued and I thought it was restoring my data.  Am I in the tank?

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.
