Itunes  11.1.4  update on Windows 7 X64

My "automatic update" running on Windows 7 X64 for iTunes just "bombed" with errors.  The first and repeated error was a c++ related error 6304 which occurs when there is an incorrect or missing "manifest" for an attempted install.  The second was a 1114 Windows error telling me that the install failed.  After this occurred, I was unable to either use iTunes which had been working or to complete the install manually.  I'm now without control of my downloaded content, my appple TV and my own extensive library of mp3 and other files which had been registered with iTunes.  My attempts to follow posted directions to complete a "clean install" of iTunes for a Windows X64 system have only led to more problems!  Since none of my Apple hardware is any longer under hardware warranty due to its age, I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.   I can't get iTunes to work so I can't maintain my iPad, or serve content to my Apple TV!  This *****!  I have older versions of iTunes installed on older Windows XP and Vista computers which do not take advantage of the X64 hardware I would prefer to use to maintain my library and run my media server for the Apple TV which I've been using to serve content to my Apple TV for years.
When I try to follow posted directions to remove certain directories in the Windows Program Files (X86) directories to get a clean install, I find the files locked by running programs, some of which help support the x86 browsers I run in addition to Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 for X64, so I'm not about to raslhy try to blow away all the software I ever got from Apple just to get a good reinstall of iTunes.   Can anyone gvie me suggestions.  I'm quite computer literate and a retired software applications engineer.

I managed to take the "reinstall route" too.... Here's the lates diagnostic report from my system.  I had to unistall the 32 bit drivers which Apple leaves lying around which are booted by default in Windows 7, reboot, then do a full reinstall not by downloading the full package and attempting to run the installer via the download, something that had failed a couple of times, but by "running" the installer directly from the web.  The successful install was actually executed from a 3rd party web site, not directly from Apple, something that I am normally loath to do.  Here's what the installed package says:
Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
Acer Aspire Z3731

This is the second successive release that has given me fits.  I'm of the opinion that the problem may have something to do with the need Apple feels that they must have their various "acceptances" of terms and conditions re-authorized on each successive version, or a poorly managed gradual migration of components from the 32 bit code base to the 64 bit code base that causes pathing problems when the automatic updater runs in this Microsoft "hybrid" 32 bit or 64 bit environent.  At any rate, uninstalling iTunes completely seems to have had only minimal impact on my library.   I did notice that the successful install paused and seems to have executed code which may have updated the structure of my library from that left behind after I unistalled the previous 11.1.3 version.  I wish they would do a better job of testing their automatic updating procedure for us poor 2nd class citizens.  I'm not going to scrap my newest intel based system just because their software testing folks focus first on Apple's version of the world.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.

Hi, I just registered here because I want to request to Lenovo, to release new updated Intel HD 4000 video driver for Windows 7 x64 system. Lenovo just offers last year driver. • Itunes 9.1 update for Windows Vista (x64) won't run, why???

I have been running itunes for several years and have had no problems. I updated today to the latest version (9.1). The update seemed to go fine. However, when I try and run itunes the computer whirrs and flashes as if the software is starting but nothing happens. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the result is the same, it simply won't launch/run.
Looking at other discussions there are obviously lots of people with similar problems, but I can't find a solution that works, can anyone help??
I'm about to order an iphone (i have an ipod) but there's not much point if the software doesn't work. Help!

I had exactly the same problem and I spent 3 Hours 2 Min on the phone with Apple Support. Basically there is a conflict with Bonjour and you have to disable Bonjour first, then go into the control panel and uninstall all Apple Applications. iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support, and finally Bonjour in that order. (If you try to uninstall Bonjour before disabaling, you will pull your hair out because it will not uninstall until it's disabled.)
Then reinstall iTunes 9.1 and it will work. However Bonjour will not work, therefore if you have Apple Wireless Applications, Apple TV, such as I have, etc. they won't work.
iTunes works fine now and I've been able to synch my iPhone, with no problems. I sure hope they come out with a fix soon. I'm surprized they didn't post a fix as I mentioned, because while I was on the phone with them, they indicated I wasn't the only one with that problem, but I guess they are busy with the iPad rollout.

  • ITunes 10.5 installation issue on windows 7 x64

I can't install iTunes on my Windows 7 x64 laptop. After turning off UAC, I get the following error: "An error occured while attempting to create the directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

I am so frustrated. I have tried everything on here and the Microsoft forums but I cannot install iTunes 10.5.0.142 or 10.5.1.42 on my Windows 7 64 bit computer.
During the install, regardless of whether I do it manually or automatically I get the following error -
An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft VC80.CRT.type="win32".version="8.0.507276195".publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" .processotArchitecture="x86"". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x80070057.
I have uninstalled all apple components, in the coorect sequence, cleared the registry and checked that windows is up to date. I have repaired the installation of .Net Framework and Visual C++ through control panel and I still get the error.
I can reinstall itunes 10.4.1.10 anytime and it works so I find it hard to justify why this doesn't work on anyone other than Apple.
Come on Apple, or anyone else, I am clearly not alone so please get this fixed so we can move to IOS5 too.
    Thanks

  • Windows Update on Windows 7 (x64) on boot camp fails

Running Windows 7 x64 on Boot Camp and trying to install an "important" update from windows update, but it fails:
    Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2506014) - Published: 4/12/2011.
I received error code 80073712 and ran System Update Readiness Tool to no avail. Microsoft recommends repairing Windows from the install disc if using that tool fails, but I'm not willing to go that far just yet.
KB 2506014 title is "Update for the Windows Operating System Loader", so I am wondering if there is something about how Boot Camp is configured that is preventing this from installing.
Has anyone else running Windows 7 x64 on Boot Camp received the same error for this particular update, or been successful in installing it? It is thus far the only windows update that has failed to install for me.

Good for Windows 7, this allows disable of questionable/unwanted drivers
I uninstall bootcamp wireless etc. drivers such as broadcom, bluetooth that I do not use on Mac Pro.
There are some utilities not compatible with Windows 7 which you do not want to use.

  • Error during install of the iTunes 11.0.1 update on Windows Vista

Error during the process of installing the iTunes update to 11.0.1, when iTunes attempts to write to file C:\Config.msi\b530a0c.rbf. iTunes says it can't access that directory, but i'm installing iTunes as an Administrator.  And i don't find the specified file in this directory on my c:\ drive

I seem to have solved this problem as follows:
    1.  Download the iTunes.exe file from apple.com, but save the file to my Desktop rather than running it.
    2.  Execute (double click) the iTunes.exe file from my Desktop.
    3.  When i encountered the problem that i've reported (the iTunes installer announces that it can't access a file in the c:\config.msi directory, i clicked the Retry button in the error window.  The iTunes installer process appeared to move past the error.
    4.  I experienced the same error one more time during my apparently successful iTunes 11.0.1 install, but the 2nd time this error came up iTunes reported that it was trying to access a different file name in the c:\config.msi directory.  Again, i clicked the Retry button in the error window and the iTunes installer appeared to move on past the error.

  • Itunes wont start after updating on Windows

Ive updated to the most recent version of Itunes and now the program will not start. It immediately says Itunes has stopped working without even opening the program. Ive tried every single fix listed by apple on this website. Nothing has worked. I dont plan on buying anymore music through Itunes if apple cant even get the program to run properly

See HT203206: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes 9.2 update on windows 7 x64 failed What I did to fix it

Seems like everybody else had the same problems. In my case the upgrade originally failed with a 2324 error. It suggested trying again and if it continued that I should select tools download only. That is what I did. It will save the files to: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update .
    The five files are:
    AppleApplicationSupport
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64
    Bonjour64
    iTunes64
    SetupAdmin
    1. I started by running SetupAdmin.
    2. Then I tried to install Bonjour64. Opps there is my 2324 error. So I clocked Start->Run->Services.msc In the list of services rightclick on Bonjour and select Stop Service. Then Click Start->Control Panel->Programs and Features Right Click on Bonjour and select uninstall. While here I decided to uninstall all of the other Apple programs (Don't forget Quicktime.)
    Install Bonjour64
    3. Install AppleApplicationSupport
    4. Install AppleMobileDeviceSupport64
    5. Install iTunes64
Opps there is the second error. Quicktime didn't install properly. Downloaded quicktime and installed it (don't do this). Ran qt and checked for upgrade. I have the latest available. Ran iTunes64 opps Quicktime didn't install properly.
***! Why is it even trying to reinstall qt if I have the latest?
    6. Uninstall qt. Download iTunes 9.2+QT for x64
    7. Install the download with no problems.
I then Disabled Bonjour since it causes problems on my system.
What I discovered. Bonjour is stealthed in. It should be an OPTION like safari. The Bonjour was not able to stop and uninstall the existing disabled Bonjour. Evidently the Quicktime player was also no able to be uninstalled by the upgrade. When manually uninstalled the upgrade could still not install qt.
The upgrade is not properly checking for installed versions. It forces an unneeded reinstall of qt.
The upgrade program is seriously broken and needs to be fixed.

  • ITunes freezes, can't update ipod, windows and itunes doesn't see my pod

I have a 2nd gen Ipod with the really sensitive buttons under the screen and whenever I try to plug my ipod into my PC w/xp nothing good happens. It used to be fine about a month ago and now its screwing up. I never dropped it or did anything bad to it.
    I plug it in.
I get a windows error message in the bottom right that says "this blah blah blah has malfunctioned and windows can not recognize it"
That message soon goes away and windows makes that little ding sound.
After that iTunes just freezes up. I cant minimize it, play songs, or do anything. completely frozen.
My Computer doesnt even see it.
The ipod flashes "do not disconnect" until I unplug it.
When I unplug it itunes starts working after a couple seconds.
Sometimes it will completely drain the battery right after I charge it fully and it will reset itself and stay off.
    anybody know whats goin on?
Ive done pretty much everything on this website to fix it and nothing.
    2nd Gen   Windows XP

Are you sure that there is no way to change the
    format?
I never said there wasn't a way to change the
    format.
To change the format, select it in iTunes on the Mac
    and select Restore.
I am having a similar issue with my daughters ipod nano. It was formatted for windows when we bought it (we have the songs on a mac) but it only downloads some of her library not all. Having looked in some of the forums it suggests restoring however when we plug the ipod into the mac the button for restoring the ipod to factory settings is not highlighted. In this case how can the ipod be restored to a mac setting? We are using the latest itunes software and OSX operating system.

  • ThinkVantage System Update 4, Windows 7 x64, and LAN repository are failing with T410 laptops

I've been using TVSU/TVUR for a few years and they're excellent tools.  Life would be much harder without them.
Recently I acquired some ThinkPad T410's with Windows 7.  As usual, I applied an existing Windows 7 image (from a T400), and ran TVSU.  Group Policy settings populate the TVSU reg keys with the UNC path to the update repository on my LAN.  So far so good.
Now things get weird.  TVSU asks for a username and password when first connecting to the repository at \\servername\sharename\path.  That shouldn't be necessary - I can browse that path as the logged-in domain user.
No matter what I put in the username/password prompt, whether I hit OK or cancel, TVSU proceeds to scan the directories in \\srvername\sharename\path for relevant updates.
Once it finds 15 updates, I select them.  Clicking on the "details" option for any updates brings up an empty window, no text.  If I try to download updates, it starts chugging along and quickly finishes, reporting "15 packages did not download".
I don't have this problem with other Win 7 x64 T400's, or other laptops running other OS's.  I don't think the repository is corrupt, since other systems can download and install updates.
Where do I go from here?

  • Update for Windows 7 (32-bit) (KB2952664) FAILED

    Error Code: 80242016
During my Windows update I received the above error message while attempting the Update for Windows 7 (KB2952664).
I ran the Fixit program that was offered to me in the Help. I was not really able to identify what the exact cause of the problem is in the help however. It is not installing the update when I rerun Windows Update. Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks toondog, I went to:
Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > View installed updates
in Windows 7 x64, found the failed update in the "Microsoft Windows" category (it's easier to find if you order updates by descending date) then right-click and Uninstall. It appeared to uninstall because the entry disappeared, however when I refreshed
it the entry came back. Then I went to Windows Update and it found the update and I reinstalled and this time it was successful.
It's even easier to find if you enter KB2952664 in the "Search Installed Updates" box in the upper right corner of the Installed Updates window.
This is the only way that worked for me, although I had to do a Restart after uninstalling the update before Windows Update would let me try it again.
Toondog85's way—going through Windows Update instead of Programs and Features—didn't give me the option of uninstalling the update, but it was still basically the right solution to the problem.

  • ITune do not work with  Windows XP x64 ?

    Hi
I try some version of iTune (new/old/x32/x64) but it looks like none of them are working with xp x64.
Can someone tell me witch version of iTune i have to download for Windows XP x64 plz ?
Or is there a way to upload music on my iPod without iTune ?
    Thanks

itunes has never supported XP 64-bit and never will. I don't want to argue whether that is fair or right, I'm just stating a fact.
You can try to get it going from tips on this webpage:

  • After updating to windows 8.1 iTunes will not play video

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 but since i have my iTunes will not play video i previously downloaded from the iTunes store. The video will play in QuickTime without issue though, please help

sorry it's not my apple id. it's my icloud email/account. after i updated to ios 8.1.2 my icloud acct on my phone is wrong. it's using my old college email address instead of my current icloud account email. my old college email address *used* to be my apple id, but i changed my apple id to my gmail account a few months back. anyway i can't "sign out" or delete the icloud account bc it thinks my college email address is my icloud account and it  keeps asking for the password. so i'll type in the current password for my icloud account and it says it's wrong and i need to retry or change the password, which i've already done twice and nothing changes. probably bc its asking for the password associated with the college email address it thinks is my icloud acct.
i can access icloud on my desktop without a problem...   make any sense?  do i have to restore my phone now or is there a solution?  i've wasted the last 2 days trying to figure this out. i can't send or receive emails on my iphone bc of this. which really ***** for work.
