ITunes 11.1.4 vs 11.1.5 on SL, update or no?

I'm currently at 11.1.4 and all is well. When an updated comes out for iTunes, I generally follow this forum to see if there are any "consistent" issues. I've noticed many threads of "not being able to open iTunes" after updating to 11.1.5.
That said, the release notes from:
OS X
This update fixes a problem that may cause iTunes to quit unexpectedly when a device is connected and improves compatibility with iBooks for Mac on OS X Mavericks.
As I've had no crashes and no problems with syncing my devices, is there a need to update? I'm still on 10.6.8 and will update to Mavericks once the next update comes out for that and itunes (that AppleInsider is reporting direct USB sync of contacts again).
My iOS devices are running 7.0.6 and 7.1 is sitting in iTunes ready to install.
Has anyone had an experience that shows 11.1.5 added something new or better than what the release notes say?

On my computer it doesnt even have the option of back-up or sync. I have searched all over the internet but i cannot find anything about this problem. If anyone has any suggestions of what to do or if anyone has any idea of why this has happened i would really appreciate it.

Suddenly, the Music app is only displaying music purchased directly from iTunes and no playlists are displayed. This occurred after updating iTunes Match on my PC; when new music did not appear, I turned off iTunes Match off/on the PC then did the same on iPhone 6. It looks like iTunes Match is trying to do a full download to the phone but it never completes. Ideas?

It is not telling you to update your iphone, it is telling you that you need to update itunes on your computer.

On pressing retry I got the same message.
On pressing Ignore, I got the message “ITunes was not installed correctly, please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)
I reinstalled with the same error messages and the same results.
I uninstalled existing and reinstalled from scratch and the same error messages again.
I try to repair and at the end it said it had installed correctly – but when it tried to start I got the message “This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem” I now get the same message when I first start the computer but when I press ok I receive ““ITunes was not installed correctly; please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)” again.
It appears the update has not only corrupted the operating system (Xp Pro SP3) of my computer but I have no backups to my IPhone, my wife’s IPhone or the three others phones that use my computer.
I hope you can advise me how to recover my backups

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

You can tap on the account in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores if it's on iOS 6) and log out of it and then log in with yours. But if any of the apps that are currently on the iPad were downloaded by her account then only her account will be able to download updates to those apps - content from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, not to the account that is currently logged in.

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.

If they are iTunes purchases that you bought on your phone then have you copied them over from it to your computer's iTunes ? If that is the computer that you sync the phone to then you should be able to copy them over by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. Or (depending upon what country that you are in) you might be able to redownload them directly on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage.
In terms of your account's balance, have you tried logging out of your account on your computer (Store > Sign Out menu option) and then logging back in (it will change to a Store > Sign In option) and seeing if your balance changes ?
