Itunes 11.1.5 Update Failure

Hi all
I own an iPhone 4 and have recently updated it to version 7.1.0. As always when Apple have updated the software they bring out an Itunes update; I therefore went to update Itunes but not Icloud Control Panel or Quicktime (I do not have either installed and do not wish to install them). When it had finished it told me the update was unavailable. It says:
"Error occurred whilst installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools-Download only and try installing manually."
I have looked through every setting I can think of and not managed to find either of these. Could someone please direct me in the right direction or help me solve this problem?
Thank you for any help..

  • ITunes 11.1.4 update failure. Runtime Error 6034

I have had a complete nightmare today following an attempt to update iTunes 11.1.38 to 11.1.4 on my PC running Windows 7 Home Premium.
These are the errors I encountered
During installation the following messages were displayed ..
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient provileges to start system services.
Whether I clicked Retry or Ignore, this message still appeared.
Clicking Abort triggered a further message ...
The Installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.  Errors occurred during the Installation.  Your system has not been modified.    Please run the installer again or click Finish to Exit
Temporary relief, thinking that iTunes had been rolled back to the previous settings of version 11.1.38
Running the installer again had exactly the same result.
    iTunes then failed to launch
An attempt at launching the program triggered the following Error
Runtime Error R6034    An application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact Application support team for more information.
This is when I turned to this Forum for help and found the following advice in various posts which have solved the problem  Follow the steps in this article to completely remove iTunes from your PC   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
If, like me, you are unable to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support  Check this thread and follow the advice given by b_noir in the 4th post down, which is to download and run this tool  http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall    It takes its time so be patient, it did fix it for me.
    Reboot.
Re Install iTunes  I chose to stick with version 11.1.38, which I knew worked.
This worked for me, I hope it helps

THE ABOVE or    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376    WORKS AND IT IS FROM APPLE
Basically it instructs you with a link to get a MS (MicrosoftFixit) software tool that wipes the registry, so you can do a clean install.
Follow the instructions and it should be fine.
I don't know why Apple is not putting this on the front page of itunes.com.  Of course they should post a new itunes that does not muck your 'puter, but I think if you tried already it is too late unless you fix what they effed.

  • Does anyone know how to solve: "Firmware update failure. Disk write error"?

    Hi all,
Here is the list of all what went wrong and where I am now:
    1. My Ipod worked well
    2. I wanted to update it, you know, the normal thing with Itunes
    3. Every time I tried, my computer froze. I was unable to add only one song (both automatically and manually).
    4. I took my external drive (where my music is) at work and tried again: same result.
    5. I decided to run the Updater I have on the CD that came with the Ipod.(2005-02-07; I usually avoid the newer version, having had once a problem when putting a newer version of Updater).
    6. The Updater was unable to operate any action on my Ipode (I don't remember the messages now).
    7. Like I tried what I describe here above like a hundred time. I decided to format the Ipod with Windows (My Computer, right click on the Ipod, format).
    8. It did and now I have only the famous folder with an exclamation mark on my Ipod.
    9. Now when I am running the Updater, it says it cannot Restore the factory settings giving this message "Firmware update failure. Disk write error".
I would appreciate any help because, during the last 2 hours, I read and tried all I found on the Support Help here on the Apple web side without any result yet.
Thank a lot for your answer

    Hi Cyrille,
Have you looked at Knowledge Base Document #301267 on "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod?

  • Ipod not recognised by iTunes after latest Ipod Updater Software loaded

    Hi
Can you please help as I can't get my Ipod to work anymore with iTunes. I recently did a "clean-up" of my computer and removed a lot of old files to speed up my computer and whilst doing this I upgraded my iTunes software with the latest Ipod Software Updater. However, I can't get my iPod to work with iTunes anymore. I plug in my iPod and it starts to say "Do Not Disconnect" on the iPod screen but then it doesn't show up in my iTunes so I can't update my iPod.
I tried to use the iPod Software Updater "Repair" option but this just freezes my system and doesn't recognise my Ipod. I also get the error "Write Failure on this disk" showing up in the icons near my Computer Clock when I plug in my Ipod.
I've tried doing a system restore back to when the ITunes worked with the Ipod but this didn't fix it. I've tried removing iTunes and the iPod from my computer and then reinstalling them from the software from apple.com but it still doesn't work. The problem being is when I've deleted ITunes and the Ipod Installer I've lost my original HP + Ipod installation disk so maybe I'm missing some essential system files? I've used the Ipod Software Installer from apple.com to install the iPod files but I'm not sure whether I need the files from the original installation CD. Can I find the installation CD files from anywar
    Please help!!
    Thanks in advance

  • "Firmware Update Failure", please help

Okay so my brand new 20GB iPod photo refuses to have the systems software loaded onto it, everytime I try and use the iPod Updater (yes I have the newest version) it says: "Firmware Update Failure. Disk write error." I've got it connected with USB 2.0, it shows up as a removable storage device in my computer but doesn't show up at all in iTunes.
So if any of you know what's going on please give me a hand.

    JamesBond said:
That means that USB2 port is not compatible with the iPod?
I don't think so. More along the lines that the iPod is not USB 2.0 compliant, or properly certified, or it has a bug somewhere.
Basicly if a device is USB 2.0 compliant, it will work with a USB 1.1 port, just very slowly.
from www.usb.org, if a "device" has passed the certification and has earned the proper "High Speed USB" logo http://www.usb.org/developers/compliance/logo/usbhs125.gif it also HAS to work with a USB 1.0 port otherwise it won't earn the logo.
Now, this begs the question... has the iPod passed it's tests and earned it's High Speed USB certification logo? I can't find any of Apples products that have the logo, can someone point me to them?
Apple is a memeber of the USB Implementers Forum, Inc (and only has one person that is a member).
You can find some good information about USB at www.usb.org. Specificly that it is no longer refered to as USB 2.0, but as "High Speed USB" (just semantics)

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

my daughter has not used her ipod touch for 16 months and has forgotten her passcode.  restore factory settings keeps failing due to a software update failure!
how can i get this ipod reset.  She now has an iphone so this is going to be used by someone else in the family and should be simple to do but itunes just keeps booting it out even though it recognises that it was previously connected to our itunes account as all of the children were on my account

That has nothing to do with an update server. Do the following:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • IOS 5 update failure on 3 Devices

For the past year or more, I haven't been able to install updates from iTunes to my iPad, and IPod Touch 3G and 4G.  I keep getting the network connection time-out issue.  However, I've been able to successfully update all 3 devices by directly downloading the updates to my computer, and installing from there.
That worked fine, until now.  When iOS5 came out, I directly downloaded the update files like before, and tried to update manually.  The updates all failed with the same error message - "The iPod/Pad could not be updated.  An unknown error occured (3002)."  I'm aware of the server overload issue in the immediate wake of the iOS5 release, and took the advice to wait awhile to retry the update process.  But it's now almost a week later, and after literally dozens of attempts to install this latest iOS release, they keep failing with the same error message.  For what it's worth, I have the latest iTunes release (installed and re-installed), and have IOS 4.3.5 on the iPad and iPods.  iTunes and Windows Vista diagnostics says everything is fine with my network connections and settings. I have tried disabling firewalls and antivirus security during the updates, and it makes no difference.
Does Apple have any real solutions to this mess (lots of other users are still having similar problems I see), or are some users devices permanently relegated to running older operating systems?

Sigh.  Yes, thank you, I have the correct updates for each device, downloaded directly from Apple.  I know how to install them directly from my computer, that's what I've had to do for the past year or so.  As I said, it always worked, until now.  My question is, why doesn't it work anymore, and what is Apple doing to address this, and the multiple other update failure issues that users are having with iOS5?

  • FOUND SOLUTION TO: "Firmware Update Failure.Diskwrite Error"

I have found a solution to the:
    "FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILURE. DISKWRITE ERROR."
Last night i re-encoded my mp3's to 128kbs, and then plugged my iPod Shuffle in, and it went crazy... i tried restoring and it kept giving me the error above!
Anyways, here's a solution (that may require to be tried a couple of times)...
If you keep getting this error, go to My Computer, then right click the iPod (maybe called "Removable Storage").
Go to Format... and make sure its set at FAT32. Also make sure that "Quick Format" is unticked.
Once this is done. Eject it. Plug it into another USB slot, and go to iPod Updater and restore. It should work.
And then rename the ipod thru iTunes, and upload ur music on to it!
    Enjoy and Good luck!

So are there any risks involved in formatting with windows?
I just tried doing this and it won't format (I select the option but there is no response)

  • Frimware Update Failure - Ever heard of this ??

Our household now has three iPods. A 20GB 4g, a 6GB 4g mini and a brand new 20GB 4g just received today. All have worked great with the exception of the new one. Have updated iTunes and updated the iPod updater to 2005-09-06 and click RESTORE (only option) and get this error mssg:
FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILURE-Disk Write Error. Also unable to restore manually using firewire wall socket.
    What gives????

Hi, I also have a Firmware update failure on my 20gb ipod, took my ipod to the apple shop today and they tested my unit and said it was ok but suggested it was a computer configaration problem. I have tried everthing to cure this and seem to be going backwards. Only had the unit a month and I am really getting fed up with it.
Any help you get will be helpful to me also.

  • "Software Update Failure - an error occurred installing i0S6."

I tried to update my iphone 4 through my settings and got the error "Software Update Failure - an error occurred installing i0S6." This is not the first time that happens. I got the same error in the last 3 ios updates. The only way that I found to solve was to update by itunes, but as we have the option to update through iphone, I want to do that.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem will be most appreciated.

In the last 3 ios updates I had to use itunes because through the settings I always get the same error message. The point is that I don't want to use the itunes. I want apple to fix the problem (as I can see I'm not the only one having problem). I have 2 friends that did the update in the same time that I was trying to do, and for both them it worked.

  • Restore fails with "Firmware update failure. Disk write Error" message

I am going totally bonkers with this one. My Shuffle stopped working suddenly.
My iTunes was not able to read the contents of the iPOD and there seems to be a corrupt filesystem. After reviewing various posts, I have tried the following with little success:
    1. Tried Restore using the Updater tool that came with the Shuffle (2005-09-23). I kept getting the "Firmware update failure. Disk write Error"
    2. Downloaded the new updater tool (2006-03-23) and tried restore again. I got the same error message again.
    3. Tried formatting using Windows format, it is not able to complete the format
    4. Tried chkdsk. Get an error message saying "CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives."
    5. Tried connecting it to a different computer and tried pretty much the same steps. Similar results.
I am using USB 2.0 both on my current Thinkpad as well as the other computer I tried with.
I am totally clueless and am not sure how to go about fixing this one. Though there have been lots of posts about this, I haven't been able to find a solution that works for me. Any thing else that I may have missed out which I can try?
    Thanks,
    Kris

    hiya!
just checking. have you worked through the possibilities from this document yet?
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
given that you're connecting to a laptop, we'd better check on this possibility too:
iPod not recognized when connected to Windows laptop over USB
... and even though you aren't using a Toshiba, this technique might be worth a try (if all else fails):
iPod not recognized correctly on Toshiba laptop

The first step is to try this Microsoft fixit:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
If that doesn't work we will have to try something more complicated. It is a could not open file error message from the installer.

You need iTunes 11.1 which is not available for download in google chrome or other browsers.  The only browser it has worked for with me is Safari.  Hope this helps!
