ITunes 11.1 broke

So I upgraded to iOS7 and iTunes 11.1, only to have that whole process break my iTunes. I have been trying to fix it for horus and nothing has worked, great job apple. Anyway, the problem is that when I plug in my iPhone 4s, my iTunes says :"iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again."  I know it's iTunes fault because my computer DOES recognize I have an iPhone plugged in .
I have tried:
1. Thorough uninstall then re in stall.
2.  I have tried this, but it did not work:
Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
When I get to here
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
It says :"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder containts a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Wndows for x64-based system".
I know for sure I have iTunes 64bit

  • The computer with my iTunes on it broke and I am trying to use my girlfriends computer to get onto my iTunes and put new music on it. How do I do this without erasing my music that is already on the iPod?

Hi, I no longer have the computer that I had used with my ipod. It was broken about a year ago. I haven't used my ipod in a very long time, but came across it the other day and want to use it again. I live with my girlfriend now and we use the same computer. She has her itunes on the computer already. I wanted to figure out how I can get both our ipods and itunes to work on the computer and not earse my music that is on my ipod??

You can Only Sync to one iTunes Library at a time.

  • ITunes 7.1 broke iPod mini syncing

All worked fine until the 7.1 update. Now every time I connect my iPod mini (6G, through firewire), about a third of songs and audiobooks is re-downloaded onto the iPod. This is absolutely uncalled for, as those files were not changed.
Worse yet, now the iTunes syncs audiobooks one way only, meaning that the bookmarks for audiobooks listened on the iPod are lost upon syncing with iTunes. Unless I am doing something wrong, this seems like a serious bug.
Does anybody else have the same problem and maybe found a solution? Or ss there a way to revert to the previous iTunes update?
    Thanks

From what I've seen, there's no reason to "copy" the artist field into the sort artist field... If you leave the sort artist field blank, it appears to sort by the artist field. So you only need to set the "sort artist" field for any items that you want sorted differently from the artist field.
I'm going to wait a few days, because I suspect very strongly that some very useful Apple scripts will show up at, for example, this site:
    http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/
The one I want is a script to take all of the songs I've selected and set the 'sort artist' to be the artist name in "last name, first name" order. So then I just select all of the songs that are by a single artist, run the script, and probably 98% of my desired sorting changes will be made. I see some of the first scripts for manipulating sort tags are showing up, and I bet it won't be long before some really useful ones appear there.

  • Upgrade to iTunes 7.2 broke connection with remote speakers

There have been a few discussions about the inability of iTunes to connect to remote speakers in the past, and I found one that was answered regarding an upgrade to 7.0 back in September 2006 - b noir recommended the help article posted on his page: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304371
My issue is the same as the one posted in Sept. 2006, but it only started when I downloaded the upgrade to iTunes 7.2. I see the remote speakers greyed out in my iTunes speaker list but can't select them. The fix in the help article above of configuring IPv6 doesn't help. Has anyone else run into this/have any suggestions for me? My wireless network consists of 2 Airport Expresses; the extension is the one hooked up to my speakers.
    Many, many thanks!

I'm experiencing something similar where my remote speakers are working well from my Macs (wired) and Windows Vista laptop (wireless) but do not show up at all from my Windows XP desktop (wired).
I do have Symantec Personal Firewall running, but I have (1) trusted my local internal network, (2) explicitly opened ports 3689 and 5353 and (3) tried it with the firewall disabled with no luck. I do not have Windows Firewall running, and I don't believe I have anything else that would be limiting network traffic. I do not have Bonjour or Rendevous services running. I can ping the AEs just fine (I have 3 AEs), and I am on the same subnet. I have selected LOOK FOR REMOTE SPEAKERS in the iTunes settings, and I am running the latest version of iTunes (7.2). I have also not tried downgraded to an earlier version of iTunes, but for now I'd rather get this fixed in another fashion as 7.2 works well from my other machines.
I hope the above description (with fixes recommended by other users in other threads) is helpful. I appreciate any input or feedback people may have.

  • ITunes 9 Sharing broke.

I have three machines, home sharing sees both my G4s but not my main machine, a G5 is invisible to the other machines, and, the G5 cannot see the G4's. I've checked sharing port settings, checked firewalls, disabled and re-enabled home sharing on all machines but still can't find a solution.
I've rebooted the Airport router from a G4 because while I am connected to the network on the G5 it cannot find the router in the airport utility (this is an old recurring problem, never solved) Maybe it's a clue, but I shouldn't have to have access to the router from the G5 to run the Home Sharing system, right?
The problem seemed to have started when I was transferring via drag and drop, tunes from my G5 to a G4. iTunes on the G5 crashed. Upon reopening I could still see the G5 in Home Sharing on the G4, but it wouldn't connect. After a reboot on both machines Home Sharing is gone, but the G4s can see each other, the G5 sees no one.

Well, I was about to install simplifymedia.com which sure looks like something that Apple should have come up with, but I ran Onyx instead, optimized, cleared app caches, system and kernel, and maintenance scripts. Then I restarted and had a kernel panic. Recovered from that by pressing the on button. After a rather lengthly start up the iTunes Home Sharing works across all machines, and I can even access my Airport with Airport Utility.
I'd also tried logging into a Root acct, a test admin account without results.
So, is this solved? I guess so, but I don't know how, and maybe some maven out there can tell me how to do it again because I did restarts without results. Whatever routine the Mac runs after a kernel panic seems to have worked. Surely there is a way to do a-for lack of a proper term- a "deep restart"?

  • How to wipe all the data on a broke iPhone 4? it won't turn on or connect to iTunes

Hi there, my iphone4 does not turn on or connect to iTunes since it broke, however it was still working till the battery ran out ( I noticed it was still working because my app was on and the status showed up on my computer as I was online through my iPhone). So I believe that all of my data are still on that phone, it's just not responding to me, I hope that I could get my stuff back somehow, if this is too much to ask, at least I would like to wipe all my personal info before trade it in, any idea? Thanks a lot in advance!

  • ITunes freezes when I plug my iPod Touch 4 in and it won't sync.

    Ok guys,
So recently, I have had MAJOR problems with my iPod touch (not jailbroken) and they're driving me INTO INSANITY!!! So, a few weeks ago, I added a movie I downloaded onto my iTunes. All **** broke loose from there. At first I wasn't able to sync. My iPod was detected but it wouldn't sync unless I restored it. Later, it began to not sync unless I plugged it into my computer without iTunes up. iTunes began to freeze and become unresponsive. When it froze, it would began to actually sync, just not say. Then it began to not sync at all, and now I can't do anything.
I am at my witts end. I am deperate. I have tried averything under the sun from deleteing practically everything on my iTunes to updating iTunes to trying to reset Bonjour. Down below are links to every problem I have. They keep piling on each other to where I can't find just one post to describe. And these people decribe it better than I do. Can anyone help? I don't want to have to reset iTunes or re-install. I have precious apps that NEED to be backed up.

I forgot to mention, whenever it does sync, it just gets stuck staying "verrifying ipod".
Try having that topped off with freezing.

  • How do I access iTunes on a shared computer?

My computer died, I am using a shared computer and the other user already has iTunes under his own account.  Is there any way to access my iTunes account on this computer without doing anything to his iTunes?

yes it is. its all linked. dont you see?
how do i get itunes on a different computer? is the title of the thread.
i have the same problem. the computer one of our itunes was on broke. it was replaced. apple dont cater for this. you can only link an apple device to one itunes. so if the computer is replaced, you are stuffed!!
i installed another itunes on another computer and the original ipod wont sync with it or allow itunes to download the latest ipod operating system.
the easiest thing to do would be to buy a new ipod (clear of content) and a new pc. install itunes on the pc, create a new apple ID and voila - can then start to put music and apps back on ipod and have the lastest and greatest OS.
expensive i admit, but surely far less painful then any alternative?

  • IPhone no longer can sync with iTunes on Mac Intel Mini

I have an original iPhone (not 3G). It was working fine until today. Today when I booted my mac mini, Software update said that there was an iTunes update. I downloaded and installed version 8.2 of iTunes. When I connected my iPhone to my mac mini (Intel running 10.4.11), which is what I use to sync my iPhone, iTunes didn't see it. It was as if the iPhone wasn't connected to the mac.
I thought maybe it was the cable. So, I switched cables. It still didn't sync (or even see the iPhone).
I have been charging my iPhone using a wall adapter, so I tried both cables with the wall adapter. The iPhone charged just fine using both cables.
I used the cables and tried to sync my iPod Classic (120GB) with iTunes. I can sync my iPod Classic with iTunes just fine with either cable.
I have an 17" Powerbook G4 running 10.5.7 and I thought I'd try to see if it could see the iPhone. The Powerbook is running iTunes 8.1.1, I haven't upgraded it yet. I was able to see the iPhone and I could try to sync, but the iPhone isn't sync'ed with that iTunes library so the sync doesn't do anything, but at least the Powerbook sees the iPhone and connects with it (and iTunes sees the iPhone as well).
I'm upgrading to iTunes 8.2 to see if the Powerbook can still see the iPhone (just seeing if it was the iTunes upgrade that broke the iPhone sync). Well, the upgrade on the powerbook didn't seem to hurt its ability to see the iPhone.
I'm back at square one. My mac Intel mini running 10.4.11 can't see my iPhone and nothing I do seems to help it see the iPhone, but I can sync my ipod classic using the same cable.
I'm now wondering if there is something wrong with the iPhone. Has anyone else seen this problem?

Sometimes a glitch can happen with an itunes upgrade that can cause itunes to no longer recognize your iphone. If you have already tried to restart your computer and tried different usb ports, I would try this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224?viewlocale=en_US
    Hope it helps
Your only removing the outer software so it shouldn't affect your itunes libraries or files.

  • ITunes -48 Error Help

Last night I tried syncing my 2nd generation iPod Nano like I normally do but I got -48 Error message on iTunes. I tried unplugging and re-plugging my iPod, and once iTunes said my music was synced, all the music in my iPod was erased. I've tried everything, like resting my iPod to factory settings and updating iTunes, but nothing has worked.
iTunes, says that my iPod has music and I can see all the files, but the actual iPod is completely empty. What is wrong with it and how can I fix this?
    Thanks!!

this is kind of funny. First I read from paper something that Apple is going to break every hacked or some other way touched Iphones to keep their business rolling. Now they did something with the iTunes which eventually broke up our playlist. I fixed this with by deleting my Smart playlists. What I noticed while deleting those was kind of... wierd..
I have all my classic rock etc in the play list named Speed metal. While I was listening WASP (ripped from CD, not bought from itunes - is that what makes you mad, Apple? ) from the normal library I got the error message. So. I though that there must be some broken link between smart list and this song and I deleted the smartlist (Speedmetal).
Wierd part is that I was still listening this song from iTunes Library but when I deleted the smart list it stopped playing the music. That is when I realized that the smart list system is some how affected with this newest update.
After deleting I didn't had to rebuild the library or anything so I still got my Date added and how many times played tags available and also my own genres! Thank god. Because I have all my CD's (~400) on iTunes with own Genres and settings...
Now... Can I update my Tiger to Leopard when it comes out or will it just spit my Samsung DVD drive out of the mac because I didn't get it from Apple Store?

  • Itunes on Windows 8 is driving me insane...help!

So, about a month ago I go to use iTunes, and it says that it doesn't recognise my iPod. I'm using iTunes on Windows 8, and I have the newest version of iTunes. I have an iPod nano (6th generation). I uninstalled iTunes - no go. I reset my iPod - nothing. I try to remove iTunes again, yet it's messed up my Control Panel, which now only reads out installed programs that begin with the letter "M" (I'm not even joking - if you know how to fix this, please help :c).
iTunes is working fine, and I can download songs and stuff onto it. It just says "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and then try again."
I can no longer uninstall iTunes (since it broke my control panel) and when I try to download it, iTunes tells me that I already have the newest version. I'm at the end of my leash. Please help iTunes was working fine on Windows 8 before this...

I didn't have this issue, but i did have to reset the settings on my Iphone, therefore losing my purchased songs. I got help from an apple expert and they told me to go into itunes, at the top under Store, click on "check for available downloads"
It found my old songs that were lost and added them back to my library..
Not sure if this will help your issue of losing your data but it helped me.

  • Trouble after downloading iTunes 7.6.1

After being asked repeatedly if I wanted to upgrade to the new version of iTunes, I finally broke down and said yes. So since I've upgraded, I am having problems using iTunes (surprise, surprise - there's always something). I can click on the icon and it comes up but then it doesn't want to connect to the iTunes store or even play any of my music. A message comes up saying that iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have no other choice but to close. Can someone help me with this problem?

I recently updated so I could purchase music; but now when I use iTunes it stops responding. I have to end program and start all over. If you find out what the problem is with this new version, could you please pass it on?

  • ITunes and other apple-software | nothing's possible anymore

    Hi,
I know there's been some discussion already on several issues with iTunes especially that also cover ONE of my problems but unfortunately the given strategies to resolve those probs didn't work out.
So I'd like to post my problem once more. Since I, unfortunately I can't really tell what I did, I think I did an Update via "Apple Software Update" an my PC crashed, I can't open up any Apple Software anymore. I can't open up iTunes - a message appears "that this action is only valid for products currently installed ". And the worst thing about this all is that I can't uninstall iTunes directly because there is no "uninstall information" and I can't (re)install iTunes or Quicktime or anything else because it is not possible for the installation-routine to uninstall the "old" versions neither...
An Idea: Is there any - let's say -hack to delete iTunes from my PC that the installation routine can be run correctly without trying to uninstall the old version of iTunes that isn't working anymore anyway?
I'd really appreciate some help because I'd like to use my new iPod that is just lying around for about three weeks now.....
    Thanks in advance... biboff.
PS: Of course I will provide additional information if needed.

    Dear Katrina,
thank you very much. Now iTunes is working again.... Sending many thanks to Redmond too... !! Before closing this thread as my problem is solved now, I'd like to update my experience with this MS tool "Windows Installer Clean Up Version 3" so the others users reading this thread might also be able to solve their probs.
So while first running this little "MS Install Clean Up" and deleting "iTunes", the iTunes Installation Routine broke up again afterwards, whilst installing QuickTime.
So I ran "MS Install Clean Up" again and deleted every Apple Product I could think of being connected to iTunes - so far I thought of "Apple Mobile Device Support", "Bonjour" and of course "QuickTime" since QuickTime-Installation was the drop-out of the Install Routine.
I hope I could add some additional information on this issue and again thank Katrina very much for her help. My question was answered and I am enjoying iTunes again at the time. I'm even thinking about switching over to Mac soon.... hopefully something like this doesn't happen on a mac. This even was written using SAFARI, so I'm almost there....
    Thanx.
