  • Re: iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music

I have something really strange going on.
My iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music. I cannot figure this out. I turned off the "Sync Via Wireless" on all my gadgets, but this continues to happen. This has woken me up in the middle of the night until I got so tired of it I just shut my Mac down.
Anybody hear of this? Know what to do?

I had the same problem - and as well as opening by itself iTunes was skipping from track to track like crazy. But then I found a post from a few years ago that fixed this.
Connect your iPhone to your iMac and uncheck the box that says 'Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected'. Problem solved!
    Hope this works for you.

  • Why does my itunes turn on by itself and start playing music without me clicking on itunes or without hitting play on the keyboard?

My itunes will automatically start playing music when im on the computer away from the computer or across the house.  I am not accidently hitting play on the keyboard or anything.  I even quit itunes to close it completly down and still will open back up and start playing music on its own.  i need some help on resolving this issue as it is annoying me to death! lol

Open Finder> click Go> hold Option and you'll see Library, then browse to the iTunes and iTunes Plug-ins folders.
To get to the other folder click Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > then browse to the iTunes and iTunes Plug-ins folders.
Close iTunes and try moving add-ons not manufactured by Apple temporarily to the Desktop to troubleshoot the behavior. iTunes stores these plug-ins and scripts in the following locations:
    Mac:
    /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/

  • Itouch randomly unpauses and starts playing music.

    Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help with this one, I've done a bit of googling and havent found anything yet so fingers crossed.
I generally listen to my Itouch at night when im in bed ready to go to sleep, press pause button and then press the button to turn the screen off.
    so far so good,
at some point the next day (havent been able to nail down an exact time yet) the itouch will suddenly start playing music randomly ie not the tune or even album i was listening to the night before. although that might be because ive only noticed it playing a good while after it started.
only way i've found to fix it is to turn it off completely, which is obviously a pain in the bum and would like to know why it does it.
    anyone got any ideas?
    thanks in advance
    nOm

I just got my iPod touch 32GB 3rd gen for graduation, an mine is doing the exact same thing. I'll pause it to go bed or watch a movie, and suddenly it will start playing music. The only way I've found that it will not do this is to just unplug your headphones before going to sleep. That somehow works. And exit out of your music app to just the regular home page. That's just a home remedy. I really want to find out what's up as well.

  • Itunes takes too much time to open and don´t recogneize my iphone

itunes takes too much time to open and don´t recogneize my iphone
I´ve alredy unistall and re install and didn´t work

5-10 minutes is normal for me when opening iTunes. But then my library is stored on network drive which slows everything down.
There has been many posts about problems with RAID and iTunes. Don't know if any of those relate.

You don't. That is how it works. It is a verification process. Would you like anyone that picked up your phone to be able to make purchases? I don't think so.

  • ITunes 12.1.0.50 keeps opening and playing music on its own

    Hi.
Someone please finally help me with this, it's getting extremely annoying and to the point where I basically would rather not even use my computer anymore. My iTunes (12.1.0.50) keeps opening and playing the first music on the list automatically, on its own. No, I do not press any buttons, I do not have remote control for it, I don't have bluetooth turned on and I don't have anything plugged into my computer besides my headphones (Apple ones). I have tried quitting iTunesHelper, but to no avail.
My computer is a mid-2012 13.3" MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I thought I had fixed it, but five minutes later, it reopens and plays a random song. I also turned off Genius, which also fixed nothing. Maybe Apple is punishing me for using Spotify?
I fixed this by turning off home sharing. Go to File > Home Sharing > Turn Off Home Sharing.

Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock?
I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on from Sleep mode and start playing that Radio Station at specific times of the day?
Any App or plug-in that does that?
    Many thanks
    Kevin

Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
    1.  In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
    2.  Export the playlist (as .m3u works well).  Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
    3.  In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
    4.  Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
    5.  For "alarm" select Open File.
    6.  Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open.  It will probably be some default entry (like iCal).  Click on it will allow you to select "other."  Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time.  You don't need to keep iCal running.  If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do.  Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button.  Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

  • My MacBook Pro 10.6.8 prompted me of a new itunes update this morning, so i downloaded it. Since then itunes has been starting up randomly on its own, and starts playing the first song on the list. I quit itunes, and it keeps reopening.

My MacBook Pro 10.6.8 prompted me of a new itunes update this morning, so i downloaded it. Since then itunes has been starting up randomly on its own, and starts playing the first song on the list. I pause the song, and it resumes it on its own again. I'm not joking. So, I end up quiting out of itunes; but, it starts right back up again on its own. After quiting out of the app a few times, it eventually stops reopening; however, about an hour later (or less) it opens again. HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP? I'm just about to delete itunes, because I've had enough of this crap. I hope someone can help. I've restarted the laptop, and it seemed like that fixed it, then itunes started up doing the same thing again an hour later. ituneshelper is unchecked; bluetooth is off; i only have speakers and a mouse plugged in (also charger).

Read this Apple Discussion Thread and possible solutions. The audio jack has been the main culprit, also certain sync and automation settings including connected remotes.

See if a device is attached and "open iTunes when iPod is connected" is selected. https://discussions.apple.com/message/16483979#16483979
Check for other iTunes preference settings that might cause this.

I recently connected my new ipad to my itunes, but now itunes will not recognise my ipod classic, and 50gig of music has gone. ipad connects ok but no longer ipod which has been there for two years! help!!!

What happens when the iPod is plugged in?  anything?  any errors?
Why is 50GB of music gone?  All music should exist on the computer.  Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

  • My brother-in-law recently passed away. My sister gave his MacBook Pro to my niece. When she opens and starts the laptop, it shows my brother-in-laws name. Is there a way to change his name to her name without formatting the device and starting over?

    BigTex415,
my condolences for your family’s loss. If all she seeks to do is to change the display name, and she’s willing to leave the account name unchanged, then she could do the following: log in as the administrative user and open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner is locked, unlock it. Select the account that shows your brother-in-law’s name on the left-hand side of the window, and then on the right-hand side, change the text in the “Full name” textbox to her preferred display name. If desired, click on the padlock in the lower-left corner to relock it.

  • ITunes 10.7 turns on and starts playing anytime iMac is moved?!

I downloaded the new version of iTunes yesterday, and now anytime my iMac is jostled or moved, iTunes turns on and starts playing. My iMac is 9 months old, and I never had this problem until yesterday. iTunes can be triggered if I just bump my desk; no other programs start up. I have tried restarting my computer, and this helped for a little while, but then the problem started up again. If I move the computer once, iTunes turns on and starts playing. If I bump it again, iTunes stops playing. If I bump it again, it resumes playing, and so on. Is this a software or hardware problem? Should I try downgrading to the older version of iTunes to confirm if this is a result of the upgrade? If so, how would I do that? If it could possibly make a difference, I had my iPad USB cord plugged into the back of my computer, and after just now removing it, I can't seem to recreate the problem (it dawned on me that iTunes automatically loads when I plug my iPad in, so maybe it had something to do with the cord). Is it possible the USB cord was triggering iTunes? Any thoughts that anybody can provide would be tremendously appreciated. If at all possible, I would like to avoid lugging my computer to the nearest Apple Store.

Is there anyone out there who has suggestions for a fix on this?  I can't believe that this is such an obscure problem that none of the power users in our community can't help us out.
    Thanks, folks.

    Hi amorg1876,
If your iPhone is skipping over certain songs, you may want to check out this article:
