ITunes 11.2.2 : no labels, no automatic download new podcasts

I cannot see any longer if I subscribed or not, the labels in the list have been disappeared and I can only download on limited moments, so I need. New podcasts don't appear until very late. It is just a mess, or should I say, the mess is even bigger than before.
How come Apple created such a failure? Can I get the version before 11.2.2 back?
iMac 10.8.5

Hi,
I've got the same problems with iTunes as Lost in Asia since the 11.2.1 update.
It is no fun to use iTunes for Podcasts when it's performing slowly, or doesn't performa at all.
Another iTunes Podcast function problem:
I refreshed my podcast list.
Let the downloads happen.
Dragged-and-dropped a few podcasts to my USB stick.
Selected my 44 podcast subscriptions and tried to "Mark them as played" to keep the list neat.
After that, complete freeze. Rainbow ball. iTunes not responding. Had to force quit.
Tried to let the rainbow ball "work" for an hour, but it wouldn't do anything.
Rebooted my iMAc in Safe mode, as suggested --> no difference in performance.
Rebooted my iMac AND iTunes in Safe mode --> no difference in performance.
Removed the single iTunes plug-in from my iMac --> no difference in performance.
Unplugged my externals (USB stick, back-up drive) and only let the Ethernet link to internet on --> no difference in performance.
Thanks for your help.

s there any way to get rid of this stupid feature in iTunes for Windows?
You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.

I believe that feature was added in order to reduce wasted costs to the Podcaster.
Podcasts incur costs - that have to be paid for, by someone. That cost will be the cost of hosting the Podcast on a server somewhere and more crucially (with regard to your point), the cost of the Podcast being downloaded to your computer. Every download costs the Podcaster money (typically, charged by bytes downloaded).
If that Podcaster pays for the whole thing personally, obviously they want to keep down any unnecessary cost to themselves. If the Podcaster is earning money for his or her Podcast (typically from advertising within the programme) then obviously, the advertiser only wants to pay for advertisements heard by listeners. So a download, not heard by the downloader, is waste of the Podcaster's money or no payment from the advertiser.
My own experience is that I only have to resume downloading once per programme. I'm usually several episodes behind on two different Podcasts that I follow, but I do not recall having to repeat the resume Podcast after that first time.

  • My iPod nano 4th generation won't download newer podcasts from iTunes

my ipod nano 4th generation won't download newer podcasts from itunes

If you use automatic syncing, select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Podcasts there.  This is the Podcasts tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync podcasts.
Sync Podcasts is checkmarked for automatic syncing.  Below that, set up the Podcasts tab to sync podcasts as desired.  For example, you can set it to Automatically include all unplayed episodes of selected podcasts.  The "all unplayed" option gets new podcasts episodes to sync automatically. Select the podcasts below.
When you click Apply, your selection on the Podcasts tab (and the other tabs...  Music, Books, etc.) sync to the iPod.  If the iPod was NOT previously set to use automatic syncing, its existing content is replaced.

  • Can't download new podcasts or recent book purchases in iTunes

I can't download new podcasts or recent book purchases in iTunes. I'm using iTunes 10.6.1 on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.4. This started a week ago. I unsubscribed and resubscribed to my podcasts (no luck). I whitelisted the possible sending domains from a whitepaper I found on this site (no luck). I haven't added any other software or made any other changes to my computer configuration.
I bought these books on my iPad and they aren't downloaded there either (previously had no problems buying and downloading books to both iPad and MacBook). Interestingly, I was also unable to download App updates on my computer via iTunes until just now, when they suddenly were successfully downloaded. I've been able to download App updates on both iPad and iPhone all along.

Forgot to post the error message I've been getting when I open iTunes:
"There were problems downloading some purchased items.
For more information on the items that could not be downloaded, click below.
There was a problem downloading “The Blind Assassin / Margaret Atwood”. You do not have the privilege to make changes.

  • Can i buy on itunes on my Mac and have it automatically download to my ipad

So I am sat at work, thinking about my camping trip at the weekend. I usually like a movie on the iPad just in case. My iPad is at home....... Can I purchase a movie rental in iTunes on my Mac at work and have it automatically download to my iPad??

If you rent a film on your work's Mac then it will download on that Mac - rentals are a one-time only download, they will download on the device/computer that they are rented on. If you want it on your iPad then you will either need to rent it directly on the iPad, or rent and download it on the computer that you sync it to and then connect the iPad and move the rental over to it.

  • Itunes 12.1 not automatically downloading new shows

I have been having an issue that itunes is not downloading new tv shows when they become available. I have "always check for downloads" and "TV shows" checked in my setting, and my computer is authorized.  When I click on check for available downloads I get all purchases have been downloaded but I have to manually go to each show and download it when it becomes available.  I am using iTunes 12.1 and Windows 8.1.

    ACTUALLY CONTACT ARE NOT FINE!
Replacing information on this iPhone with Outlook is OK.  New contacts is loaded.
    Here's the issues:
    1. Any new contact from IPhone is hit and miss into Outlook.
    2. Any changes to existing contacts from iPhone is never changed.
    3. Any new contact in Outlook to IPhone is synced.
    4. Sometimes it'll say "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone ..... because the iPhone disconnected" when it is not disconnected.
    5. Sync can take more than 5 minutes to complete even if there was only 1 change.
All these issues I've tried closing and restarting Outlook, iTunes, and even my computer!
Also, I forgot to mention in my first post, I also did a factory reset on my iPhone and well and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.
In the meantime, I'm using a new app called DejaOffice or CompanionLink and taking their trial period.  However, careful for the duplicates!
    Apple, please fix this ASAP!

  • Automatic downloads not automatically downloading new episodes

I can't seem to get the Automatic Download setting to actually work the way that it should.  As far as I know, this setting should automatically download a new podcast episode when available, and with the most recent update to the Podcasts app, we can now restrict that downloading to wi-fi only.  Yippee!!
Problem is that new episodes don't get automatically downloaded, at least not consistently.  When I subscribed to a podcast and set it to automatically download, on wi-fi only, it worked perfectly the next time an episode was released.  But then the following week it did not work.  It did not start downloading until I actually opened the Podcast app and went to that podcast's episode page.
So I tried unsubcribing and resubscribing again, and then the next time a new episode came out - worked just fine.  The next morning the podcast was there and ready to go.  But then the following week again (this past Friday/Saturday), once again, no joy.  It did not download the episode until I opened the app and looked at that podcast's episode list just now.
So what is the deal?  Is this yet another bug with this crappy implementation of a podcast app?  I really would love to use Downcast instead, I really would, but Downcast does not store the podcast files in the same place as other media on my phone, which means it's not available when I scroll thru the menus when connected to my car stereo.  My car stereo only accesses media files in the normal location, UNLESS it's playing before I connect it.  But that's a pain, trying to remember to go into Downcast and play an episode before I connect the phone in my car.
Can anything be done about this, or am I not doing something correctly with the iOS Podcast app?

I get the following message every time I go to download Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and have no idea why iTunes would care how many shows I have listened to. For the heck of it I deleted a bunch of them but still can't get that infernal "!" to leave!
    Exclamation point
Next to a song: The song can’t be located; it may have been moved or deleted.
Next to a podcast: Recent episodes haven’t been downloaded because you have multiple unplayed episodes.

  • Prevent automatic downloading of podcasts and purchased episodes

I'm trying to help a Mac owner configure her iTunes so that it doesn't automatically try to download her podcasts and purchased TV episodes. We're running very tight on a bandwidth quota and would like to download these things manually if possible. I know how to do this in iTunes for Windows, but she can't seem to find the same settings in the Mac version. Thoughts or help?
    Thanks all.
    Scott

    Hello, Arkaroola,
To better assist you with this, are the attachments Inline attachments (images in the body of the message) or attached documents?
Attached documents do not automatically download , but inline attachments can, you can stop images from automatically download by completing the following:
In the BlackBerry Hub, tap  >  Settings > Display and Actions.
    Change Download Images Automatically.
Let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks.

  • Don't want iCloud to automatically download my podcasts

    Hi,
I am using OS 10.8.5 and iTunes 11.1.  I do not have iTunes automatically sync to any OS devices as I do things manually.  I also do not use the Podcast App on my phone as I tried it, but did not like it.  My problem is that since I downloaded the new version of iTunes my podcasts that I don't download automatically are downlading to iCloud and I do not want them to.  This makes my count of unplayed episodes wrong and I have to manually say that I have already listened to these episodes when I haven't even downloaded them to my computer.  Is there any way I can get iTunes to stop downloading the podcasts auntomatically to iCloud?  I've gone through system preferences and chose iCloud, but I did not see any option for iTunes.  I've also checked the preferences in iTunes and turned off show iTunes in the cloud purchases, but this did not solve the problem either.

Click on the More Info button, go to iPhoto's Accounts preference panel on the top bar and delete the MobileMe account. Next to go the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.  That will stop those messages.

  • How do I hide old podcasts in iTunes 11.1 and What's Up with the New Podcast Pane?

FIrst of all, I'm having fits with this "new" way of managing podcasts.
For years, I have managed the podcasts on my iPod (and now my iPhone 5) by manually syncing the device with my subscribed podcasts in iTunes. I have iTunes set to download the most recent episode of each of my podcasts and to keep all episodes until I delete them. Some podcasts I listen to or view only my MacBook Pro and I don't sync these to my iPhone. This has worked fine for years.
I moved to Apple's dedicated Podcasting app when I purchased my iPhone 5 earlier this year, but I maintained the manual syncing as I had done, using the app only to play the podcasts, not to subscribe to or download them.
I upgraded my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to iOS 7 on launch day and downloaded iTunes 11.1 to my MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.8.5. The iOS upgrades went flawlessly for both of my devices, but iTunes has been a problem. It was sluggish when I first opened it, with lots of spinning beach balls. When I opened it for the first time, I went to the Podcast section and to my list of podcasts. They all now had "Subscribe" buttons by each of them (I was already subscribed to the podcasts in iTunes before the update). I assumed that I had to click the buttons to activate subscriptions in iTunes, but low and behold I discovered that it subscribed my iPhone 5's podcast app to ALL of the podcasts in my list (even ones that I don't put on the iPhone). It also started DOWNLOADING all of the episodes of these podcasts to my iPhone which, had I let it continue, would have eaten all of my bandwidth on Verizon for the month (and then some), plus the iPhone would have been filled up long before it could finish downloading the episodes.
I managed to get the iPhone's Podcast app to stop downloading these episodes, then I manually deleted all of the podcasts that didn't belong on the iPhone. I then had to go through all of the podcasts in the app and click a yellow box that said they hadn't been updated and wouldn't resum updating until I clicked the box.
Then I went back to iTunes 11.1, where I discovered that ALL the podcast episodes for my subscriptions that are still available for download in their feeds were now listed (2,000+ episodes), with previously listened-to episodes now showing with a cloud download icon next to them. Even more frustrating, I can't delete these from iTunes even though I've already listened to them and, even more frustratingly, the "Subscribe" button remains by each podcast in the list.
All I want to do is remove these previously-listened to podcasts from my lists, remove the subscribe buttons (since I'm already subscribed in iTunes), and continue to manually sync my iPhone's podcasts with iTunes as before. What do I have to do to make this happen? And if these are new "features" of the new iTunes, please share with your team that, while there are many who update wirelessly over their cell carrier's bandwidth, others of us don't have the capability (or desire) to do things this way and we want to switch this off and return to the "old" way of doing things.
Any ideas on how to fix iTunes 11.1 to return to the old way of doing things would be greatly appreciated!

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

  • Itunes wont even launch. i removed program and downloaded new copy, still wont lauch

itunes will not launch. it used to work on this pc. i uninstalled it, downloaded a new copy, and tried again. still won't work. help. and thanks.

i have had this issue before. try going to the tash manager and see if it's actually running the executable file. right click on your task bar at the bottom, go to start task manager. go to file>new task and type in "itunes.exe"
if this works it means that the connection between your shortcut and the root file for itunes has a bad connection. youll need to find the root file, and replace your shortcuts with a new short cut. this should be in my computer>program files>itunes.

  • Had iphone backed up to itunes on Mac Book Pro. water destroyed mac. downloaded new itunes on PC. want to sync iphone to itunes on PC. When clicking sync a pop up asked if I'm sure i want to erase what is on my iphone and sync with a blank itunes! No!Help

How do I sync my phone to a new blank Itunes without erasing the data on my iphone?

iTunes now gives you the option to install previous purchases on your devices. Sign in to your iTunes account on your computer and go to the iTunes store. Once there, click on the purchased link on the right side of the store screen. It will take you to a screen that shows all of your previous iTunes purchases. Music, TV shows, Movies... Download whatever you want on your new computer. If that isn't an option you want to try then plug you iPhone into your computer and open iTunes. When your phone shows up in iTunes, click on it. At the bottom of the screen you should be able to select the option to manually transfer music. Then select the music you want from your phone and copy it over to your computer. At this point if you aren't logged in to your iTunes account you will be asked to sign in to play the songs. Hope this helps.
