ITunes 11.3 failing to load in 10.6 SUS

Is anyone else having trouble adding iTunes 11.3 to a Snow Leopard SUS? I believe it may be similar to the problem reported in this thread (and perhaps the fix is similar to electromojo's fix in the thread):
Why am I getting errors for swupd_syncd of Product ID: "091-7360" (Java Update)
If I look in these folders where the two sets of iTunes 11.3 dist and package files should be:
     /var/db/swupd/html/content/downloads/61/24/zzzz031-01973/tzufb9rm3yjshv7sx7kfz1 0jklzs4k6o39
     /var/db/swupd/html/content/downloads/07/07/zzzz031-01974/6t442m0ma4fabjgjqs9z1u os5lp6nbcwuw
I only see the files:
     iTunesXPatch.smd
     iTunesXPatch.smd.previous
and nothing else. Not surprisingly the SUS error log shows this when a client who needs the 11.3 update tries to grab it:
[Tue Jul 29 17:18:11 2014] [error] [client 192.168.46.125] File does not exist: /var/db/swupd/html/content/downloads/07/07/zzzz031-01974/6t442m0ma4fabjgjqs9z1u os5lp6nbcwuw/031-01974.English.dist
Again, maybe the fix is simply to give SUS a little push by manually creating a directory in there. However, looking at the files in a 10.5 SUS for comparison, I don't see any directories, only files, so I don't know what to try to create.
Any thoughts? Thx,
Fred

I am having the same problem. I have not been able to access the iTunes store for a couple months. I have no problem with my Internet connection and I have the latest version of iTunes 10.4.1 in Windows 7. When I begin to load the iTunes store I get nothing, not even an error message.

okay ... let's try a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • ITunes MATCH fails to load on iPhone4 after updating to IOS 6

iTunes MATCH is failing to fully load (display) on 1 of my 2 iPhone4 telephones after updating both to IOS 6.  (My wife and I share the iTunes MATCH library using the same ID).
I have tried Signing Out and back In to iTunes, plus I have tried turning iTunes MATCH On & Off for this one iPhone 4 device, but the iTunes MATCH still fails to load.
The furtherest it ever gets is to display my previous Playlists and my Artists, Albums, etc that are in the cloud ...but the actual songs that are in the MATCH cloud never ever appear at all ...even after waiting hours!
The IOS 6 update seemed to work fine for both of our iPhone version 4 phones, but like I said above, only 1 of the phones is able to play music from iTunes MATCH now.  This previous worked fine under IOS 5.1 for almost a year.
We also own an Apple TV 2nd generation and an iMAC with OS X 10.6.x, ...and those 2 device are also able play music that we have stored in the iTunes MATCH cloud with No Problem.
The issue seems to be with only this one phone.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Does anyone have a suggested fix for this?

This helped me my repair my iPhone4's locally corrupted iTunes library (which calls my iTunes Match account) for all my music and music-video collection!  It took all of 5 minutes to repair.
    1. Google/download/install iExplorer (free program).
    2. Plug in iPad or iPhone first, then open iExplorer.
    3. Delete the iPad\Media\iTunes_Control folder's 3 Media SQL files.
    4. Turn on iCloud/match in iPhone's (iPad's) iOS settings, which replaced the iPads music library with iCloud
A big THANK YOU to Michael Allbritton for pointing my in the direction of this solution!
    Finally a note to Apple:
You will have to incorporate a way for users to view and self-repair the inner workings of their appliances if you wish to continue to sucessfully compete in this market ...remember what happened to Nokia for not forseeing the touch screen display many years ago!  I would never expect my Mother, my young wife or even my teenage son to download something like "iExplorer" and use it to delete 3 corrupted database files; therefore, dear Apple, please incorporate the self-diagnosis and repair functionality offered by an iPhone Explorer type system into your iTunes software ...or something similar to that!  Get with the program!

  • ITunes fails to load.  Message is Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services. Never had this problem before trying to install this upgrade

iTunes fails to load.  Message is "Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services." Never had this problem before trying to install this upgrade. How do I fix this?

Dave, same problem here.  And I did go in as admin to Administrative Tools, Services, Apple Mobile Devices and tried restarting the service.  It seems there is a bug with the newest update, period.  All of the normal "easy" steps don't work.  Before I remove all of Apple's programs, including Bonjour....I'm running a full system scan.
But the answer will be to remove all of the Apple stuff, then reboot, then use whatever utility you have to remove all temp files...then go download and install it again.  This has worked for several people (I read the thread before posting).  Win 7 64bit.  It just seems that Apple did not thoroughly test this new version.   Period.
If Apple reads this...I have many computers...and whenever Apple wants to update something...it just about stops everything else that is going on.  Total memory hog, even with 16G RAM and dual quad core processors.  It has to learn to play nice with others.
After the scan and I'm sure an hour or two of work...I'll re-post.
Of course if you do image back-ups, as I do, you can simply restore your drive to its previous state and run the previous version of iTunes, declining the update, until Apple gets it right.  Depending on the size of your drive, this could take hours.  It is a matter of choice, of course.

  • Itunes download fails to load goes straight to Thanks Page Win xp sp3 64 AMD

iTunes fails to load when I make attempt. It goes straight to Thanks For Downloading iTunes page. The updater was failing to update, I followed the directions and uninstalled all iTunes related programs, including Apple Support Appl., Bonjour, etc. The computer is a 64 bit Windows Xp sp 3 plenty of Ram and Memory available. I followed thew support asuggestion and was able to load Real Player, I have used the MS registry checker , all checks well. I have tried with both IE, and Chrome browsers.

I'll answer my on question. No problems, when I was directed to the Apple's site to download iTunes 10.5 I clicked down load and in a couple mintues iTunes icon popped back up and all my music and apps where there.

  • When I try opening iTunes, it fails to load!

Ok, well I click on my iTunes, from my desktop or start menu, anywhere possible. My laptop freezes over, for about five minutes, and then when it unfreezes, an error message pops up that says "iTunes failed to load because there is not enough memory available" or something along those lines.
I still have 97.4 GB of memory free out of 129 GB.
It has never done this before!!! and, as a sidenote, I let a friend borrow my laptop for the night, and when I got it back, alto of things took much much much longer to load, it froze/freezes alot, and theres a random toolbar on Firefox that I don't remember ever installing.
I went through "Add and Remove Programs" but I never saw anything different, and my Yahoo got uninstalled, so my Yahoo Anti-Spy is gone, and my computer won't download anything anymore without it taking an hour, freezing, etc.
Sometimes it works perfectly fine (my computer) and I never really have problems with network loading, Firefox, or anything else.
    It's just iTunes!!!
    What could be the problem?

No it's not just iTunes and malware these days doesn't conveniently load itself into Add/Remove.
You run a malware scan on that computer now.
TrendMicro's House Call is online, free and your best bet right now.
If you get blocked from that sight then you may be facing a full format and re-install so I hope you've got back up.
The next time that friend wants to borrow your laptop just tell him/her "No!".

  • Failed to load media | iTunes is not installed

    Hello forum,
i am experiencing some problems with Media Sync.
When i start the application i receive the msg: Failed to load media.
Within the options the preferred music library  "iTunes version 7.7.1 or greater is required" is selected but greyed.
On the main screen i can switch to Windows Media Player Playlists (nothing in there - wich is correct). When i switch back to iTunes Playlists, it tells me: iTunes is not installed.
Within the options the preferred music library  "Windows Media Player" is now selected and "iTunes version 7.7.1 or greater is required" is greyed.
Here is what i tried so far:
    reinstalling iTunes
    reinstalling Media Sync

Thanks for reading and for the good work you guys do here in the forum

    Hi Entro:
This might be a problem with running on a localized operating system.   We’re still investigating the root cause.
However, I have a suggested workaround – if you can try it and let us know if it works, that would be great.
    1.       Close MediaSync and iTunes
    2.       Hold down the shift key and double click your iTunes icon.  Keep holding, and a little dialog should come up that says ‘Choose Library’
    3.       Hit ‘create library’
    4.       Navigate to a folder like c:\myituneslibrary – you’ll have to create this folder.  It’s important that you create this folder outside of the standard ‘My Documents’ or ‘My Music’ location
    5.       Hit ok, iTunes will launch.  Import a few of your songs into this new library.
    6.       Launch MediaSync
Hopefully Media Sync will launch and iTunes will load properly.
    Cheers

Gentlemen,  I have wasted a day and probably lost my entire Itunes music collection by allowing an upgrade of Itunes version 11.1.4    Interesting because the other upgrades were routine.  This failed to load and the message of missing MSVCR80.dll file and verify that you have sufficient privilege to start system service are of little comfort.  Have re-installed numerous times to no avail.  Wassup?  I need help.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
It usually works better if you export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • "Quicktime Streaming failed to load because of an unknown error"

iTunes and Quicktime will not load, install, or uninstall because of at some point the popup message "Quicktime Streaming failed to load because of an unknown error" appears. Succesive reboots and removal of SpyBot (which may have denied access to Quicktime because of a registry setting, which of course may still be the cause of the problem...) have not fixed the problem. Any ideas?

I have struggled with the same problem for the last few years and could not find any adequate answers. Being a person who likes to run his PC clean and mean, I had stopped all those Apple Itunes / Quicktime applets and deleted Itunes application as I preferred other Media players & converters. Recently my Nokia 6300 phone suite would send me the same error every song I moved from PC to phone. The clue was that I had chosen Optimised AAC format instead of stock standard MP3. Working on this hunch, I re-activated Apple's Software Update from the Scheduled Tasks items of Control Panel to update Quicktime, Itunes and Safari. Now I have AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, iPodService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe all running and I do not get the error anymore. There is also the Bonjour (DNSResponder.exe) service to be considered. See:-

    Sorry for my bad english
    Greetings from Germany

I found the answer, here in the forum from a user:
Here is the solution that worked for me, based on antoniovtorres post (I resisted the urge to get PO'd and tried to figure out what he must have done):
With desktop manager closed, using Blackberry user tools, navigate to 'Blackberry\system\' (make sure that hidden files are shown or you won't see the 'system' folder).
Move or delete the folders 'Media Sync' and 'media' from the system directory.
    Re-open desktop manager.
Click yes to any dialog that appears.
You should now be able to sync music again.
Note that your device may want to double up on your synced pictures and videos, so you may want to delete your pictures and videos off of the device before your next picture or video sync. Hope it works for y'all.
    Scott
    It works again!
    Yeah!
    BlackBerry rocks!

  • Error: "failed to load book because the requested resource is missing"

I book a book via the iPad. The book appeared in my library no problem with the "new" tag and stuff, but when I tap it to read I get an error "failed to load book because the requested resource is missing." Any ideas? I'm on the road, so I haven't synced or backed up or anything..
I've also verified that I have a good connection, etc. I'm able to hit the "store" button and browse the store no prob, as well as web, etc.
    Any thoughts?

I believe I may have the answer to these many concerns.
When a book is over 20 or so megs, iBook will sometimes make an attempt to download on the iPad (when it should not). This causes problems. Perhaps the one you are experiencing. Therefore you have to wait until you are on a wifi connection before purchasing dictionary-like books. But if you've already made the mistake of downloading, theres no guarantee wifi will correct this.
What worked for me (like others have already mentioned) is that if you have an iphone or touch you can download it from there, sync with your computer and sync your iPad later. The book(s) will transfer just fine as long as you have this enabled on your devices.
Initially this didn't work for me because in my frustration with a prior issue I took the liberty to create another iTunes account. Therefore iPad purchases were not visible on my phone. So be sure to have the same accounts activated on your devices and iTunes.
Yet even further diagnostics may need to be explored as I'm still prompted to provide my password every time i open iBooks (as if the download is still pending). Kinda afraid to revert to factory settings over a small issue. In the coming update Apple should fix these problems altogether. Hope this helps!

  • TS1702 I am having trouble opening the Times and Sunday Times Newspaper App in my iPad Newstand. Each time I seek to load I get the message "Failed to load the Kiosk".

I have been told by the T8imes helpline that this is an Apple problem with its Newsstand. I have tried deleting the App and reloading it. Still the same message  "Failed to load the Kiosk" appears. I have tried a hard reset of the iPad, again without success. Can you suggest anything else?

You bought an app but it did not work properly on your device. You can easily report problems with your iTunes Store purchases via the iTunes Store. Here is how:
Launch iTunes > Choose Store > Sign in.
Store > View My Account > Purchase History then Click the Report a Problem button.
Fill out the form explaining the problem you are having.
Submit the problem report and wait for a response from Apple, they usually respond within 24 hours.
