Itunes 11.3 won't recognize ipod 5th generation

Itunes will not respond to my ipod touch 5 generation after I installed the latest update for the itunes software/program (itunes 11.3). However, my computer (Windows 8 PC) is able to detect my ipod. I've been searching the forum like crazy and trying the "solutions" I have found but none of them have worked
Things that I have Tried to fix my problem
This includes updating Apple Mobile Device Driver
Resetting ipod
Resetting Computer
updating my ipod
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled itunes
Used a different cord (I'm using the one that came with my ipod so it is able to sync data)
if you are telling me to go to iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes I have already looked there and tried those too. Please solve my problem or at least tell me how to get the previous version of itunes on my computer (itunes version 11.2.2). Apple please look into this problem- I'm sure there are a lot of people wanting a solution to this problem.

Just upgraded itunes to 10.5 and purchased a new ipod classic (160gb). All my music is on my old macbook, but itunes won't recognize that the ipod is attached. Finder will, but iTunes won't. Sorry for the late response. I realised my notifications are off. I've tried that. All my software is up to date, setting for wifi sync are all checked off. I spent 1 hour on the phone with Apple with no results. Most threads are about Windows PC. I run a a MacBook. Variables could be my Linksys router but i/ve played with the firewall settings and nothing. I have a range extender but all devices are using the same network. Any final ideas?

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard I have been having syncing issues with my 5th Gen 80GB iPod. It first gave me an error that it could not read or write to the iPod. The music and podcast were able to write to the iPod but when it got to syncing my photos is when it failed. I then just yesterday installed iTunes 9 hoping it would help, which it didn't. I tried to do a restore of my iPod with iTunes 9 and it was able to erase the iPod just fine and when I went to sync it again it gets stuck at about 5GB completed. I have a total of about 60GB's that I am trying to sync, but even if I just sync a few things it still will give an error "Can't synce 80GB iPod because it can't be read or written to (error -50)."
So I am not sure if this is a Snow Leopard issue or iTunes issue. I don't think it is my iPod because it was working fine now for over 2 years. Even the small amount of 5GB that it did transfer will play just fine from my iPod.

There's only a few things that could be my passcode, but because it disables for an hour, it is time consuming trying to figure it out. What do I do? I do not care about having to erase everything since it's new and there's nothing on it, but it was never synced with iTunes.

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

IPod 5th generation recognized in iTunes but won't charge

I'm writing this on behalf of my girlfriend, who is having problems with her iPod, I tried searching google and the forums here but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer.
Basically what happens is this:
iPod gets plugged in and shows the "do not disconnect" screen and starts charging (what comes next kind of happens simultaneously) not long after that, I'd say a minute at most, the normal menu screen comes up and the lightning symbol on the battery disappears, iTunes recognizes the device and allows you to browse the files and it gives the option to sync but we haven't done that yet (the laptop we're trying to charge it off is new and has an empty iTunes library) and we don't want to lose the data on the iPod. It works fine on other computers, i.e. she can charge it with no problem from her desktop PC and as far as i know any other PC/laptop available to us
Does anyone have any idea what's wrong and how to solve it?
Technical details:
iPod 5th generation, 60gb
Laptop brand: Samsung
OS: Windows 8
USB status: Ports all work and from what I can tell they're all 500mA
Tried:
Switching USB ports, none seem to make it charge
Resetting iPod
We don't have extra cables so we can't try switching them and we haven't tried restoring the iPod yet since we don't want to lose data.

The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...

Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?

Did this iPod previously work with this computer (running Windows 8.1), and does not now for some reason? Or is this the first time (or the first time with Windows 8.1)?
The fact that only the battery charging symbol appears on the iPod screen seems to indicate that the iPod does not recognize a data connection. It's like you are connecting the iPod to USB (wall) power adapter. It is likely that the Windows system also does not see the iPod as a connected device; you should confirm by looking at Device Manager.
You should rule out a faulty USB docking cable. The dock connector has separate connection points for power and data, so it is possible for it to connect to charge the battery but not connect for data. So, if possible, try another docking cable, or try the cable you have with another Apple device.
You should rule out a problem on the USB port. If you connect something else to the same port, does it work properly? Preferably, you should use something similar, like a USB flash drive or port-powered external drive, and try copying over some large files.
If the USB port and docking cable are OK, the cause is more likely to be on the iPod (such as a dock connector that is worn out from use).

Last week, my computer randomly said it did not recognize my ipod. I continued to use it and figured I'd worry about updating it another time. Then today, I was using my nano and it stopped and flashed the folder with the exclamation point icon and below the icon directed my to Apple's support website. I've tried most of the things I've seen in the forums, and I really have no clue what to do. Everytime I try to turn it on, the icon comes up and everytime I try to connect to iTunes my computer won't recognize it.

Turn it off by holding home+ power button untill the screen goes black ( as soon as it goes black, release the buttons).. This might take some practice , so dont worry if on the first try your phone reboots and goes to itunes screen again.
Now, with your phone powered off, enter DFU mode:
Method 1)
Attach the phone to the pc
Turn the phone off
Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
Whilist in dfu mode, itunes will recognize the device and it will ask you if you wish to restore it. Simply click restore, and the restoring proces will begin.
This will hopefully fix your iphone.

How do I load iTunes U to my iPod 5th Generation?

Following advice I've found elsewhere, I created an iTunes U playlist and dragged and dropped a bunch of iTunes U classes into it. I then dragged that playlist to the right side of my iTunes screen where a window emerged showing my iPod 5th Generation and dropped (seemingly) the playlist into it. Nevertheless, no iTunes U playlist appears on my iPod.

i was having the same problem but think i figured it out. try these directions (from Apple site):
To sync iTunes U content:
Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
When your device appears in the iTunes window (below Devices), select it.
Click the iTunes U button and select the items you want to sync.    [this is at the top of the window]
Click Apply.
