Itunes 11 Author view duplicates appearance of Audiobooks

Question

(I've changed the name here, to protect the innocent and avoid comments about my taste. I shall call him MisterCreative  and his output an ebook called mybook1 and three audiobooks called mybook1, mybook2 and mybook3)
I add MisterCreative's ebook, 'mybook1' to my library. (Its .epub format, if that's relevant)
I then add the audiobook mp3 files for mybook2 to my itunes library. The media kind has defaulted to music and it appears under the music section, so I update the media kind for all the 'songs' that make up the chapters to media kind of Audiobook. The songs disappear from the music list, and as expected can be found under the books view. Selecting the Author tab, I find against MisterCreative two items, as I expect; the audiobook mybook2 and the ebook mybook1. If I click on mybook1 itunes tells me it cant read ebooks (as expected). If I click on mybook2 I see a list of the chapters. (They're not in the right order, but thats a known problem). I double click and the audiobook starts playing. All good so far. Now the problems begin...
I add audiobook mybook3. Now when I switch to author view, I see 4 items! mybook1, mybook3 but now mybook2 appear twice. I check what mp3 files are being pointed to and it turns out that its not a duplication at the file level just in the author view. Also if I switch to the audiobooks tab everything is as it should be. One instance of mybook2 and one instance of mybook3.
Then things get far even wierder. I add the audiobook version of mybook1. Now when I go into author view. I find 4 copies of mybook2 and 2 copies of mybook3.
Wierder still when I click on the ebook version of mybook1 it plays like its an audiobook.
If I delete one instance of mybook2 - they all vanish and one set of mp3 files ends up in the trash.
(Note Artists,Sort Artist, etc. have all been set up appropriately)
Is my library corrupt? Whats going on? Anyone else experienced this?

There have also been many reports of V11 "splitting" the same album in 2 or more albums in the ARTISTS and ALBUM panes. The only fix (??) seems to be to do a Get Info on all the tracks that obviously belong to an album and append something, (say "XXX"), to the Artist, Album Artist and Album fields and save. Then Get Info again, remove the" XXX" and save. The theory is that iTunes is not properly updating it's cache and that this will force it to do so.
This is obviously a bug, (and I wouldn't like to have to fix a million albums with this solution), but if it works, you'll be reassured that there's nothing wrong with your library and all you'll have to do is wait for the next iTunes release.

I did have to change both the album-artist and the album fields to get it to work as you mentionned... unlike what I had tried initially (juste the album-artist field)
