ITunes 11 buggy/missing functions vs iTunes 10

In my iTunes 11.0.1.12 I have noticed some annoying missing features or bugs that were not present in iTunes 10.x
1.  I am playing a song in my song list...I rename any song (or edit any field for that matter) and my view is refreshed back to a view of the top of my songs list (not the view of the song I was and is currently playing).
The whole refeshing to top of my song list view is really, really annoying.  If I am trying to organize my music and creating playlists, the constant having to re-adjust my view makes it non-productive and a waste of time.
2. Why can I not remove the "Price" column from my song list view?  It is not available under any custom options.
3.  If I don't pay attn to where I click to select a song in song list view, I keep hitting the > arrow to the right of the song title and keep getting a pop-up menu that I have to click elsewhere to get it to go away.  This is almost as equally annoying as in IE 9 if you don't pay attn to when you click an open webpage tab, you might accidently click the "x" and close it.  Why make the >'s (or x's in IE) active when they are not active?  Makes zero sense.  They should only become active AFTER you select the song (or tab for example).
4. Why did you take away the playlists folder view?  I cannot drag and drop songs to multiple playlists anymore from song view list?  The right-click, click, click option is now available, but I prefer the drag and drop.  Why remove it?
Are complete new version updates to iTunes so needed that they are rushed to release?  I know Apple's priority is the music store interface part of iTunes to generate $$$, but the users out here who use iTunes to manage their collections are getting no priority attn the past few years.

2. Why can I not remove the "Price" column from my song list view?  It is not available under any custom options.
The Price column is only there if you have dragged an unbought track from the Store to a playlist.  Delete such tracks, and the Price column will go away.

  • Missing functionality in iTunes U

After a very long develop period we rolled out iTunes U to our campus, Creighton University, at the beginning of the academic year. Recently, I was asked to attend a meeting about one of our schools using our iTunes U presence to podcast course lectures. We were fortunate to have a couple Apple representatives on campus for another event and they made time to attend the meeting.
During the discussion Chris from Apple logged into a demo "Apple University" to show how iTunes U works. I was surprised to notice that when he went to create a new tab in a course that he had additional options in his demo site than I had in mine! And I'm an Admin!
It seems that you can create a dropbox along with other several other exciting options that I heard about but never saw as options in my iTunes U interface.
This is what a course tab edit view looks like for me:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/gKq5ys34XGapAONaYzmYw?authkey=ASjGG8b4N0&feat=directlink
I have no options on the right side in the tab creation and edit view.
After the meeting I asked Chris what I was doing wrong. He was kind enough to stop by my office and take a look. But he didn't see anything that was obvious and strongly suggested that I post to the forum. So, what do you guys think? Did I miss something when I set up the site? Is this something that can be corrected?
Your feedback will be much apreciated.

    Tobias,
What you are noticing is most likely the options when you are using Group Access Labels.
Group Access Labels allow individual customization of access settings for users from within the course.
A use would be, for example, if you had a setting like the following:
    Instructor - Edit
    Student - Download
If you wanted to allow the Instructor credential to create a new drop box tab, and override the Student credential to allow them to upload, the instructor could make that change.
The "Edit" credential does not allow changing of credential access; effectively, only the admin can do this. Unless, that is, you use the Group Access Labels.
For information on how to use them, refer to the iTunes U manual, roughly around page 71.

  • Synced new ipod to itunes, now missing all but itunes store purchased music that is already on my phone

Synced our new ipod nano today to itunes. I don't know what happened but now all but itunes store purchases are in the library, my playlist is gone as well as all the music I had downloaded from my CD's. The iphone 5 still has everything on it but not on my computer. Frustrating!!   Now I'm scared to sync my phone, thinking I may lose all of my library off there as well. How do I get my library back on to my computer so I can transfer that music to my ipod?

Look into iTunes Match, a service from Apple that uploads your music in itunes to the cloud (not icloud) so you can download it to other devices.
    Try googling "itunes match"

  • Album list for iPhone in iTunes is missing albums from iTunes library

There are albums which appear in my iTunes library but do not appear in the album list for my iPhone while it is connected to iTunes.  The albums were recently added by being imported from a CD.
In iTunes, I click on my iPhone to open the menus and options related to syncing the iPhone.  Then, I click the tab for music.  There are four large boxes: Playlists, Artists, Genres, and Albums.  The albums for the CD that I recently imported is not listed in that box.  I cannot check the box to have it added to my iPhone.
To circumvent this, I went to my iTunes library, selected the albums, and dragged them over to my iPhone.
While the problem is solved, I don't understand why the album was not listed where it was "supposed" to be.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Sorry to learn your music lost, but let me be suspicious here; iTunes does not delete music by itself.
Given say that, you have lost music. First thing to verify is does your music is deleted from the iTunes Music Folder or is it just removed from the iTunes library.
You should do some search on your hardisk to see if you can actually found the music files. Depending of your iTunes setup, these files could be store at different location. Usually, they should be found in /User/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Artist Names. But your could use spotlight to do some research; tell us you could find on your disk any of your lost music!
Beside, there is also a feature in iTunes 7 that let you backup your music to disc if you have a DVD burner, it will take you a few minutes.

  • Re-installation of iTunes is missing "Outlook iTunes Sync add-in"

I was having syncing issues between iPhone calendar and MS Outlook 2007. The date and time as incorrect after resync. I reinstalled iTunes and removed some non-iTunes add-in's and this seems to have fixed the problem. But, the re-installation of iTunes is missing the "Outlook iTunes Sync add-in". I only have the "iTunes Outlook add-in". Is the "Outlook iTunes Sync add-in" necessary?
    Thanks....

No, the second add-in has not been part of iTunes since the release of version 7.4.

  • Where is the "Show Duplicates" functions in iTunes 11?

I recently upgraded to the new version of iTunes and can't find the "show duplicate" options. This is one of the main reasons I don't upgrade to the new iTunes, because of this kind of stuff - missing functionality that I use on a regular basis... Any help (outside of downloading your personal script) would be appreciated. Thanks!

Two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates. Use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background.

  • Using new DJ function in iTunes with Apple TV

Ideally, wouldn't it be great to be able to stream the new DJ function in iTunes to an Apple TV which is wired into my home stereo systems? Then I would be able to control an entire house from my kitchen iMac. Now THAT would be a party! I am successfully streaming the library, but DJ doesn't show up in the playlists. Am I missing something?
    Thanks for any help.
    Carol

appletv shows up as "speakers" in itunes, you would just make your itunes DJ output direct to the appletv via airtunes.
this will do exactly what you want.

  • New Prob. iTunes kills browser functionality. Have to reboot sat. modem.

When I start iTunes, my browser functionality is killed in both Firefox and IE. Pages start to load and then say, 'done'. Blank browser screen. Email and IM still function normally. I have to close browsers and then reboot my satellite modem before browser function returns. Any clues? I love iTunes and have committed my entire library to it, but I'm at my wits end. Life without music? Thanks.
    Dell something   Windows XP Pro

Turn off the sharing functionality (both the "look for shared music" as well as the "share my music") and the functionality that lets it look for and find remote speakers. That will most likely prevent it from freezing your satellite modem when you start iTunes.
Also, look into a software or firmware upgrade for your satellite modem, since it obviously has some kind of bug internally as well.

  • Iphone 4 wont sync to itunes anymore. Itunes opens then a message comes up saying I need to restore it. I want to avoid doing this as I've noticed some of my purchases since updating itunes are missing from computer but they are on my phone.

I have reset my phone, put the latest updates on itunes and iphone and thought it might work then, but no luck. I am trying to avoid restoring it as I dont want to loose the data I have purchased that is missing off my itunes since I updated that. I'm not sure how to contact itunes to get my data put back on my itunes on computer. All my purcahsed data from itunes still comes up on my phone as it hasnt been able to sync to the update. DOes anyone know how to contact itunes to have bought data re-put back on. It comes up in my itunes acocount with the date and purchase number but these items are missing from my itunes purcahsed items. Weird?
I am on an imac. Is there anyway I can get around the issue of syncing again or should I just restore once I have contacted itunes about them deleting my paid for items! I feel very ripped off, its like buyoing something from target and having the manager come to your house and retrieve it! lol

  • I received a gift card and when I redeemed it an error message said that I had some itunes files missing and that I needed to reinstall itunes.  Will I still have all my credits when I download itunes?

I received an online gift card for Father's Day.  When I tried to redeem the gift then I received a error message saying I had some itune files missing and I needed to reinstall/download itunes.  Will I still have my previous purchase credits after downloading and reistalling itunes?

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

  • How do I find out where iTunes thinks missing files are?

I have several hundred "missing" files in my iTunes library but they are all actually on the computer. But I don't remember where the were previously. I add dozens of songs at a time to my library all the time and there is no Earthly way for me to constantly remember where they were before. I don't just want to reimport the files because I have several hundred playlists with these files and it would be completely stupid to edit them all one at a time when all I need to do is to move them back to where iTunes thinks they should be. So where is that? The Windows media player has a column that displays file location. Why doesn't iTunes? (This is so stupid. It makes things -not just this- so much easier when you have the file location in the music list in your music player.)
Is there a way to find out where iTunes thinks the missing files should be at?

    Chris CA wrote:
How do I find out where iTunes thinks missing files are?
The exclamation mark means ITunes doesn't think they are anywhere.
If you right click - get info on a song then view the Info tab, you will see where iTunes last used it from.
I'm not a newbie. I know quite a lot about iTunes. You sound like you don't though because if you did you would know that this is not true. If you "right click - get info on a song" (pressing cancel to the Locate popup) "then view the SUMMARY (not info) tab" you will see "Not Available" where the file location usually is. I wouldn't have asked this question if I hadn't gone through the steps already.
Thanks for trying though. Next time, please try the advice before you give it.
I add dozens of songs at a time to my library all the time and there is no Earthly way for me to constantly remember where they were before
You should not have to remember anything about where they were.
    I agree.
Are you always moving them around?
When I install a new hard drive. Yes. I generally keep everything organized and I let iTunes keep the folder organized but several years ago I used windows media player to organize my media.
Frankly I don't know HOW the recent songs/videos/etc. go missing. But some do. Maybe I accidentally move a folder without realizing it. Mistakes happen. Then I need to move it back but since I didn't know I did it in the first place I can't possibly be expected to remember where I moved it from.
Do you have iTunes prefs -> Advanced Keep ITunes music folder organized ticked and Copy files to iTunes ... ticked?
*OF COURSE!* Again, I'm not a newbie.
I have several hundred playlists with these files
Why would you have several hundred playlists?
I don't mean to sound rude but you sound like an Apple fanboy. Are you trying to tell me how I should use my own program? The answer to the question is I am a salsa instructor/DJ and I am constantly adding songs and videos to my library. Every month I have various salsa events, classes and performances that I do. I use my iPhone for the music. I need to maintain the playlists because students/teachers/studios/clubs/bars/churches/etc. call me back and want a repeat of the great salsa night I gave them a year ago. Naturally my playlists are highly organized into folders. So, I still have them and I need them.
Apple has its own ideas about how people should use its stuff but everyone is unique and our needs therefore are unique too. Apple doesn't realize this and still wants us to do things "the Apple way" even though "the Apple way" only works well for people who want their hand held through everything. This is why I say you sound like a fanboy. You don't know my situation and question if I need hundreds of playlists. I do.
I just need an answer to the question.
Thank you for your reply though. It gave me hope, for a time.
