ITunes 11 bugs/glitches?

Win 7 64 bit:
Though I generally like the iTunes 11 update, there are a couple of glitches which seem to have returned from older versions.
Until 10.6 (?), when using the shift and down arrow to highlight a group of songs, if you went too far in the list, it would not let you move back up to the correct location.  You had to start over and rehighlight from the beginning.  This was fixed in the last couple of updates, but it seems to be back in iTunes 11.
When a program is pinned to the Win 7 task bar, a box should show up around the icon if the program is running.  It's only the last couple of updates that iTunes did this correctly.  In prior versions, and again in iTunes 11, when iTunes is running, it creates a second iTunes icon in the taskbar, rather than highlighting the existing icon.
Am I missing something somewhere that would fix this?

Probably just bugs that will be sorted out in later versions. if you wish to leave feedback so apple know to sort it out the link is below:

I dont think there is anything you can do as it is something to do with iTunes itself. Just wait for an update

  • Interesting Logic  iTunes bug?

    Hello all,
I have been trying to overcome this interesting problem the last few days. I have a great mix I've been working on for some time now, and when I bounce the file, everything seems to go fine. When I play the file in Finder, it sounds great, just how it should. As soon as I click and drag that file into iTunes, about a minute and half into the tune, it starts to sound... shaky. That's the only word I can use to describe it. Its not exactly "phasey" but its a mid point between choppy and phasey. Anyone else have this problem? This is brand new for me, and perhaps its an iTunes bug?
    Thanks,
    Brian Armstrong

    Hi Brian,
I'm still on Panther, but never had that problem or knew about it.
If I get some information on it, I posted to you.
    Cheers,

  • Video of an iTunes bug when purchasing music already purchased....

    Hi Apple iTunes,
I sent customer support a description of the problem, but it's difficult to actually describe what happens in an email.
So... this time I made a video of the problem. Please feel free to share with iTunes qe & dev team.
I just published the video to YouTube. The title is "iTunes bug" and the tags are iTunes, Apple, Rockit
And this is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMuzUnqR-10
Hope this helps - it's much easier to actually show the problem than to try to describe it. If you would like me to make the video private to a specific YouTube user account for iTunes customer support, let me know and I am happy to oblige.
    Best,
    Gary

Hi Gary, welcome to Apple Discussions.
In summary the "bug" you are describing is this:
You can make a purchase from the iTunes store, which if you don't backup somewhere, it is possible for you to lose, either through hardware failure, loss, theft or an inadvertent sync.
The terms and conditions of the iTunes Store, set in part by agreements made with the various rights holders of the copyright material, permit a single download of each purchased item which you, as the end user, are encouraged to back up at the earliest opportunity. iTunes is no different from Amazon and other online digital resellers in this respect. There are stores which do permit subsequent downloads but it is not the standard model, at least with regard to media. Mobile Apps from the iTunes Store can be downloaded multiple times and it may be that over time the music industry will adopt the same model.
When using an iPhone or any other iDevice to makes purchases you should transfer these to an iTunes library as soon as possible and, further, you should also back up this library and and all its content.
In the event of an accident involving loss of data, e.g. a hard drive crash between purchase and backup then most stores will, if you explain the circumstances clearly and ask nicely, be prepared to allow a repeat download of the lost items, particularly if you are asking for one or two items rather than everything you've ever purchased. However there is no obligation for them to do so and while some users have had entire collections replaced that level of help will only be offered once, if at all.
If it matters to you, back it up...

  • Bugs/Glitches?

Okay, so I've just installed Snow Leopard onto my new MacBook Pro. Which I believe, shipped with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8.
So far (since the completed Snow Leopard installation): Spotlight has been interminably indexing, display brightness will not dim as much as before the install, nor automatically adjust to ambient light conditions, and the back-lit keyboard is also unresponsive to different lighting environments.
Has any one else experienced these problems, are they not bugs/glitches and actually inherent to Snow Leopard?
Please help, I value any serious response.

Its hard to say what is or is not a bug/glitch with SL. There are sooooo many different problems. I suggest that you reinstall SL over SL using an upgrade installation. Doing so is not likely to hurt and may solve some of your problems. Don't be surprised if more problems turn up--with our without a re-install.

  • Logic volume fader bug/glitch

Basically, I was on Logic Pro 9 earlier this evening. Having a bit of a jam and what not. I was happy with what I had so far so I saved it and went out. Once I got home I fancied popping back onto Logic for a bit. When I opened up the project I couldn't help but notice that one of the volume faders was up and was moving up and down a tiny bit. (Between +5 and +6). At first I thought it was dodgy automation so I went and had a look and that wasn't the problem. I started to look into other faders and what I found is that every time I clicked on a fader they would do the same bug/glitch. I've tried all sorts to resolve this issue but nothing seems to be working :/
    Thanks for reading c:

    Thanks for reading c:
This usually points to a MIDI control surface malfunctioning and sending out errant messages.  Unplug devices to confirm.

  • Apple TV iTunes Playback Glitch

Sometimes when I am playing music from my iTunes on my MacBook, designated to playback on Apple TV, I don't hear anything.  To fix the problem, I have to (while playback is happening) change destination from Apple TV to Compute back to Apple TV.  Then it work.  Glitch seems to happen at random.
Sometimes, when controling iTunes either from my MacBook or from Apple TV, playback sounds distorted until I reboot Apple TV.  Also annoying.
Can I do something to avoid these weird glitches?

This has been discussed, try a search.  Someone posted some script links that may work.  Not tried them.
Apple may or may not fix along with other bugs like genre listings with an apostrophe in.  (Children's movies listing all library content for example).
Main thing is to send feedback to show it's affecting you, as this is a user to user forum:

  • Screen Saver Disappearance bug/glitch

This post is more of a reassurance that this bug didn't just happen to me and would like to see how many other people have encountered this "bug". (I am not sure if I should call this a bug or glitch.)
I have my screensaver set to the Word of the Day, and it usually works 95% of the time. The problem is sometimes it will start out as the word of the day screensaver but go black and have, in white letters, "Quartz Composer" (or something along those lines). I would go into system preferences, go under the screen savers, and find that these screen savers missing as options:
    Word of the Day
    Arabesque
    iTunes Artwork
    RSS Visualizer
    Shell
    Spectrum
Flurry and Computer Name were the only two options left. At first I was a little concerned that somehow the missing screen savers got deleted. Then I tried my luck by restarting my Mac. I go back to the screen saver tab and all of the missing ones reappear. As I stated earlier, I don't have a problem 95% of the time, but this weird glitch has appeared three times. I worry this will become a reoccurring problem.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, this just happened to me this morning. I ran software update and also restarted my computer and they were all back. I was also wondering if this was just me and that's why I came here to look if it happened to anyone else.

  • Playing cd's in iTunes. Glitch.

    Hello,
when I insert a cd in my computer, and try to play it with iTunes, it always skips when I either just clicked to play it, selected the next track, or jumped a bit in a song. This is making it pretty much impossible to sit back, relax, and play cd's through iTunes. The only thing that seems to work to play any of those songs is to import them and play them right out of the iTunes library. Does this mean I have to import every single cd i want to listen to?
Anyone have an idea how to solve this, or is this simply an iTunes glitch that we'll have to sit out and hope for it to disappear in future versions?
    867-MHz PowerPC G4, iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

It seems you're right. I just now also tried to play a cd on my laptop, and it didn't have the slight pause.
    Thanks.

  • ITunes bug - Sync not working, not recognising free space on iPhone

After doing the latest iTunes update, I went to sync my iPhone 5 and got this error message, "The iPhone "X" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 3.24 GB required)."
However, I have 23GB left of free space, and there is nowhere near that amount of content to sync. It appears as though its not recognising the free space. I think it could be a bug in the latest iTunes update. Anyone had the same issue? Know of any fixes?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You said that you have 23 gigs left of space, but that you're trying to sync over 38 GB? Can you give me a separate number of how much space is currently being used on the phone and how much information it says will be on the phone once you've synced? that's the number that it gives you in the capacity bar before you hit 'apply'

  • ITunes bug? Rating stars won't click-drag left-right anymore

The latest iTunes patch (v10.1.0.54 running on Windows 7) seems to have an annoying bug: When I'm rating a song, it immediately takes my initial click, regardless of whether I hold down the mouse button -- whereas I used to be able to click in the area where the rating stars are, hold down the mouse button, and then drag out the stars to the rating I wanted, e.g. 4 stars. Now, however, iTunes ignores the fact that I'm holding down the mouse button and sets the rating at whatever position I initially click, e.g. 1 star.
The reason this is a super-annoying problem is that I only ever listen to smart playlists that filter out songs with low star ratings. So now as soon as I click a song to rate it, if I happen to initially click less than a 3-star rating, it immediately disappears. After I'm finished cursing at the computer, I have to go find the song under my general Music Library and re-rate it so it will show back up in my "smart" playlists. Grr.
Incidentally, I was able to drag the stars as normal one time -- but other than that one instance, it has not worked at all since the most recent patch. Please, Apple, please please please fix this bug. It's causing me a serious headache.

UPDATE: This bug only affects iTunes configured to allow half-star ratings.
I normally have my ItunesPrefs.xml file configured to use half-stars, with this line:
    <key>allow-half-stars</key>
    <data>
    dHJ1ZQ==
    </data>
After testing removal of the line, the click-drag on whole stars works normally. So it appears this bug exists only for those who only use half stars.
Is there any hope of Apple fixing the click-drag problem when half-stars are enabled?

  • ITunes Bug - iTunes changed video dimensions

I can't seem to figure this out:
    Used Handrake 0.9.1 to create m4v movie file at 853 x 478 H.264, AAC
Finder shows the dimensions at 853 x 478
Quicktime shows the dimensions at 853 x 478
However, iTunes has the dimensions at 1011 x 478. What is going on here? How can that be possible? Of course, now I can't get the file on to my ipod or touch at this size.
Anyone have any solutions? I am trying now the feature in iTunes to covert the movie to play on an iPod. Do you think that will work?
Is there any other work around?

  • ITunes bug using "Automatically fill free space with songs"

Using iTunes 10.1.0.54 on Windows 7 I've encountered an issue when using the "Automatically fill free space with songs" option with any of my iPod devices.
The first time I synchronized my iPod using this option everything worked as expected - all the music from my selected playlists was transfered to the device as well as "random" music to fill the remaining space.
However once I changed the content of the selected playlists and tried to synchronize the device again I got an over capacity warning since the selected music list was now larger than before.
The only way to properly get my iPod to sync again was to deselect the "Automatically fill free space with songs" option, sync (removing all the extra songs), then re-enable the auto fill option and sync again.
From a usability point of view this shouldn't be the expected behaviour. When the selected music set grows iTunes should randomly deselect music from the "auto fill" list on the iPod to allow the user to successfully sync their device.
Is this really the intended behaviour from Apple or is this a bug in iTunes?

you can report bugs to Apple via this site.
