ITunes 11: Cannot Search in iTunes

I cannot seem to search/lookup songs in the iTunes store since I downloaded iTunes 11. At first it just kept saying searching iTunes store/not responding so I uninstalled iTunes 11 and reinstalled iTunes 11. Now when I go to search a song to download it does nothing. Please help!

Hi Saifdarbar - You're not alone.
I too tried to search my ipod's library, 8000+ songs (classical music adds up). It's rather annoying of apple to drop a feature. A bit like the "find iphone" you can't send a message anymore (so if your ph is lost you can't tell them to call a specific number so you can comunicate with someone who finds the device).
Seems apple is giving less, unlike the compeditors.
APPLE - please stop removing featuers. Try adding them.......users are turning away in droves......(out of my group of 9 friends who all had iphones, only 3 of us still have them........(They went to Samsung BTW)
Also APPLE - TRAIN YOUR STAFF BEFORE YOU LAUNCH A PRODUCT/SOFTWARE. I rang Apple to see if they could help me with the search function of the new itunes 11 and unfortunately the call took far too long as the Apple rep had not used or been trained with itunes 11. The software team could at least give staff a list of changes (or in this case exclusions). Thanks APPLE for wasting my time the other night with your call centre who were not able to help becasue you don't let your team know about software changes before it is released.........
A very disgrunteled apple supporter who is thinking of switching.........Other companies give more, APPLE seems to take it away......the leader is no more......(Sales figures support my argument)
As a final question, was this search function purposly removed or did someone forgot to include it?

Well, this has been going on for about a year. Itunes store gets 60% loaded and stalls. The new user acct fix does not work, the admin netsh winsock reset, does not work. Stoping Apple mobile device does not work. Uninstalling Bonjour, Mobile, support, admin, quicktime and Itunes and reinstalling from scratch used to fully work. However now it gets me to the store, mostly fully opening, or opening, but I cannot search anything at all, it times out on the search after a few minutes. I spend several hundred dollars a year in the Itunes store. Now if you don't wnat me to do that, I will go elsewhere for purchases.

Go to Settings, Store, Apple ID, Sign out and then sign back in again and have another go.
Also, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

To search your music library on your iPad, use the music icon. The I tunes button takes you to the store where you can buy more music or videos. To play your won music etc you do not need to be connected to apple, the music is on your pad.
If you want to get new stuff from iTunes, and load it onto your pad, you need an account. Your account is your apple id.

Really annoying: Cannot search in the iTunes Store

For some reason, when I try and search for music in the iTunes store, I get a message that says "iTunes cannot complete your request, please try again later." Well I tried again later, again and again, and still get the same message. It is error message number 499. I can use the links to navigate the store and go different places, but cannot search. I ran the diagnostic thing and it said that everything is working properly, well obviously, it is not. I have heard of the entire store being down, but never just the search function. Perhaps the program is corrupted. If I unistall it and reinstall it, how can I save my iTunes library?

I get the same thing but (to add more details) I am logged into the iTunes Canada site and I get the error code "An unknown error occurred (5002)" I'll post the question to iTunes feedback as well... who knows, they may be working on it already.

Cannot search messages after upgrading to iOS7!!!

After upgrading my iPhone4 to iOS7 today, I noticed that it cannot search SMS Messages for information. To be exact, it only searches messages that have been sent/received after the upgrade. It seems it hasn't cached older messages and keeps ignoring them when searching for something. Any help? Is it a bug?

Same problem here with 4S updated to IOS 7 via OTA.
I have solved the problem by connecting the phone to Itunes, backing up, re-installing IOS7 and restoring from the backup.
Now everything is fine and all messages are indexed.

Sharepoint PeoplePicker cannot search account on 2nd Domain with 2 way trust

Hi all,
   I have run into this issue for 2 days, and cannot figure out why.
   We have 3 different Sharepoint environments, and we have two-way trust between 1st and 2nd domain.
   But, one of the environments cannot search 2nd domain in PeoplePicker.
   However, the other two environments didn't require any configuration to be able to search ppl on the 2nd domain.
   Is there anyone know what happened on the specific environment?
   P.S. That specific environment has two servers in the farm, and one of them can search the 2nd domain in PeoplePicker, but the other one cannot.
   Any idea? Thank you.

Hi,
The issue usually occurs due to invalid trusts between different forests or the incorrect property set using stsadm. By default the people picker would search for users from same forest as that of the SharePoint server. If want to find the users from other domain, you need to use stsadm to set “peoplepicker-searchadforests” of the people picker.
If the new domain is in the same forest as the domain in SharePoint server, try to run the command line: stsadm -o setproperty. If the two domains are not in the same forest, you must run the setapppassword operation, and then run the peoplepicker-searchadforests property

After upgrading my iPhone5S to iOS8 yesterday, I noticed that it cannot search Messages for information. To be exact, it only searches messages that have been sent/received after the upgrade. I am having this same issue. I live in Korea and changing the language to Korean made the messages searchable, but when I changed back to English, the problem returned and I was unable to search all my messages via the search window in the messages app, but then, after about 5 minutes, the messages app crashed, and after that, the problem was resolved. Gotta sat that I'm so far unimpressed with ios 8; seemingly not ready for Primetime.

Cannot search in Entourage after upgrading to Lion

just upgraded to Lion. Now cannot search in Entourage. Shows "no results found".

This problem just hit me.
I have just spent 3 hours trying every combo of Flash and Java install/uninstall in order to get video on Safari on MBPr with ML. There are various posts on this issues going back thought several OSs.
Flash 10.3 can make it work on Firefox, but that is likely to be a security hazard, acccording to Apple, so was not ideal. I tried everything that I could find on line.
Nothing would make Safari function... then I hit on a simple solution. I keep a clone of my HDD via Carbon Copy Cloner (although Time Machine should work too). I trashed all the /Library/Internet Plugins, and replaced them with those from the clone, which was a couple of days old. I repaired permissions (there were quite a few to do from this), but then... back to normal.

My Adress Book shows strange behavior, cannot search or edit

Hi folks!
I recently updated to Lion, also switched my .me to iCloud. At first everything was perfect, now I am experiencing strange behaviours:
I am starting to add fotos to my contacts because I like the view in Mail.app where the contact fotos are shown in the list of emails. After I added some more photos I cannot search in the address book anymore. Typing a name into the search field and nothing happens. Also clicking on a name an nothing happens on the right side. Absolutely nothing. There's only one entry that does not change and when hitting the "edit" Button, only this one contact is changed. Also this one contact changes when doing a right click on a contact name on the left side.
I did some searches here but did not find anything. What I did was deleting the "AddressBook-v22.abcddb" in the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ Folder as suggested in some other threads but this does not change anything.
This is really annoying and I cannot use my Address Book which I really need. I have more than 2000 contacts inside and it's essential for my business!

OK, seems like I can replicate the behaviour:
- repair Disk Permissions
- restart MBP (do not open all apps again)
- after reboot, only the Finder is open
- open Address Book
- click on contact name on the left side, brings details on the right, editing works also -> great!
- click in the search field and type a name
-> no filter of the list or search result appears
- click on any contact left hand side, nothing happens on the right, the last clicked contact before the search remains open
- double click on contact name opens separate window as expected
- no search possible anymore
- no editing possible anymore
-> again repair permissions, and restart and same procedure ...
this is Adress Book 6.1 (1062) on MacBook Pro 17'' with 10.7.2

I use the search feature in Messages often, and I would be concerned if it wasn't working as well. I found some steps you can take to help resolve this issue:

Cannot search PDF file contents - Windows 7 32 bit - Adobe Acrobat X

If this is in the wrong forum please move it.
I work in an enterprise environment and our systems are having trouble searching file contents in Windows Explorer using Acrobat X and Windows 7 32 bit. The files are on a mapped network location.
After removing all adobe products from a test machine and reinstalling the Acrobat 10.0.0 software the windows explorer search function seems to work locally but once I install Acrobat 10.1.anything update, it will fail. It never worked on a networked location.
I have also tried installing Adobe Acrobat 11.0.00 after removing 10.0. Then I made sure my indexing settings were setup to index files and contents and made sure the .pdf extension was selected under file types.
I then created a mapped drive to the network location, and setup my indexing to the folder on that network drive. I was able to do this by installing this Microsoft Add-in that allows use of UNC paths in the indexing.

Once I set this up, I rebuilt my index and restarted the computer. This is where it gets weird. I can now search the contents of PDF files in this indexed network location, but only by one letter. Searching "c type:pdf" will produce results, but "co type:pdf" will not. I know for sure some of the documents have the work Comment in there so this should should up.
Does anyone have experience getting this to work correctly with the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat X or XI and Windows 7 32 bit? It would be greatly appreciated.

I will never understand why but in the end I rebuilt my 32 bit dell laptop from scratch and the pdf files can now be searched.
I cannot search them on a mapped drive as I was able to with Windows XP because now they must be indexed and windows 7 will seems not to allow a mapped location to be indexed which must be done to make the pdf files searchable so I have had to move the files to the local drive.
My Windows 7 64 bit systems can search the mapped drives just fine without needing to be indexed. Again I will never understand why this works and the 32 bit machine does not.

Cannot search file content on Word document with embedded Excel table. I have Windows 8.1 64-bit and Office 2010 Professional. Only phrases from within Excel tables are not searchable. I have many Word documents with embedded Excel table.
I use it for my invoices. Those invoices are converted to pdf to be sent via mail. Searching the same phrases in related pdf files Works fine. And yes, folders are indexed, searching service is active......... For example I can find all invoices that have
specific address or name, which is located in word document, but cannot find invoices with specific item name or price, being that information is in embedded Excel table. (not linked, embedded). I thought that is a question for Windows forum, but guys directed
me here on Office forum. To clarify, I do not use Ctrl+F inside some document, but Windows Search in my folders. Probably the same happens in Office 2013.

Hi, I have a lot of Word documents (invoices, offers). Main part of those documents is embedded Excel file because it is easier to do mathematics in Excel than in Word. There are columns with description, unit price, quantity, taxes... Now, I need
to find who bought HP switch 2530-24G last year. I open folder with last year invoices and search "2530". Cannot find any. But if that document was converted to pdf for mail, than I can find that phrase. Windows search does not work for content if the content

Chances are you downloaded something that was made by a third party to "enhance" your web experience but really they just screwed you over, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SIMPLY UNINSTALL ANY EXTENSIONS PUT ON YOUR COMPUTER BY CLICKING INSTALL, BUT TO BE SURE THAT THIS IS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM IN THE SECOND COLUMN SIMPLY CLICK ON THE UNDERLINED NAME OF WHO THE EXTENSION IS MADE BY IF CLICKING THE LINK BRINGS UP A YAHOO PAGE THIS IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR ISSUES AND SIMPLY UNINSTALLING THIS WILL RID YOU OF THIS DUMB PROBLEM!!
