ITunes 11 Devices (entire category) missing from sidebar

I found Sidebar, but it does not display "Devices" category. How do I get it? Am now on iTunes 11.0.2.26, Windows Vista. I can't find my iphone or ipad anywhere on iTunes

update / addl info: I connected my iphone to computer (usb cable) and now iTunes dusplays Devices category, and below that my iPhone (but still not other devices - ipad and ipod mini and old iphone). I connected my ipad to Power and turned it on just "to see" if any effect - NONE, still not displayed under Devices.

Mine did it yesterday.
My internet connection has been playing up for 2-3 days, with loss of connection even though router still indicates it's connected.. AppleTV is still on network but can't see the internet for movies when this happens.
Also check you have correct country set as some won't allow movie rentals.

Device missing from sidebar

I inserted my thumbdrive into my MacBook Pro and it showed up. However, I went to rename the device and accidently chose "Remove from sidebar". Now when I plug it in, the thumbdrive doesn't even show up. How can I get it to show up again?

In Finder's menubar, Finder > Preferences > Sidebar tab > check external disks

Problem installing iTunes update: "Can't start" iTunes "because MSVCR80.dll is missing" from my computer. Please help!

Please help! I tried to update my iTunes as prompted, but it did not install correctly, and now I am getting the following message and do not know how to fix the problem:
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling this program to fix the problem."
Another window gives me this message:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)"
BUT I AM AFRAID TO REINSTALL iTUNES and lose my library! Would greatly appreciate learning how to resolve this porblem without losing my music!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Why are the 3 tracks I bought on iTunes a yr ago are missing from the track list just imported from a CD of the whole album ?

1st time question on here...I bought 3 songs off iTunes from the album Feedback by Jurassic 5 last year and those songs are in my librabry. Sometime later I purchased the whole album but on CD. Tonight when I imported the CD and it asked to replace existing duplicates and I said yes. Now I have two identical albums of Feedback in my library. One album has the tracks I bought from ITunes the second has all the tracks but the ones I bought from itunes. When I select to play either albums only the tracks listed play not the whole orignal album. How do I correct this? I want one album listed with all the orignal tracks. Also i'd preffer to keep the apple lossless version i imported from the CD - not the ITunes version. Thanks folks

I have a similar problem , where I had a cd I imported then bought a bonus track on iTunes not on the cd but belonging to the same album, but iTunes showing it to me as 2 separate albums.
My iTunes on the computer now shows it as 1 album, but when I sync it to me device it is still 2 albums and the album with the 1 song asks me if I want to complete it.
Sorry I have no solution yet, I just wanted to share that I too have a similar problem.

'shared' category missing from finder left navigation.

I am trying to access my shared folder on my MacBook from my iMac.
I am trying to access the files from finder. The left hand navagation in finder (which holds categories such as 'devices' and 'places') no longer lists 'shared' as one of the categories. Ive tried using search and spotlight to find the shared machine and the shared folder to no avail. However If i am in photoshop, and i go to file>open, the shared category (complete with my macbook and the files i am looking for) appear, and i have no trouble accessing them that way.
Why is 'shared' no longer listed in finder, and how can i get it back there?

I have the same problem on my new macbook pro. I can see "shared" on the home network but not when I'm away. After doing a little research on different sites I came up with this key sentence that did the trick for me!!
You can use screen sharing on the road if you enabled "Back to My Mac" in:
System Preferences>iCloud> check the "Back to my Mac" box.
I did this and it synced and I went back to finder and there it was.

Missing Apple Mobile Device USB Driver Missing From My Device Manager

Hi Everyone, My Apple Mobile Device Usb Driver Does'nt Show up in my Device Manager. But when i go Control panel>> Admin Tools>> Services its there but when i go Start>>Run type in devmgmt.msc an the device manager comes up an under the heading Universal Control Bus Contoller the Apple mobile device usb driver is suppoed to appear but it doesnt all my other usb attached devices do how do i fix this problem?????

For what it's worth. I had the same problem, and here is how I fixed.
I downloaded Roxio Uninstaller and deleted everything Apple. Itunes, Bonjour, Apple Mobile Divce Manager, and Safari, everything get rid of it all. the good thing about roxio is that you can scan for anything that the program uninstaller missed.
Then I down loaded itunes again and Whalaa! It now works.

Web Gallery missing from Sidebar

For some reason, my Web Gallery icon which lists all my published web galleries has disappeared from my iPhoto sidebar. How do I get it back? I can see my Library, Recent, Subscriptions and Albums sidebar items but no Web Gallery. Please help and let me know how to bring it back to my Sidebar listing alll my published Web Gallleries.

Same issue here - mine happened right after I did the October iLife update
In reply to CCRiders post - it's not the button in the bottom toolbar that's missing it's the actual previously posted gallery's that don't show up anymore in the SideBar, even though they're still posted.
The Galleries are still in the Web/Sites folder on the iDisk. They have a specific # which is why you can repost it with the same name and it doesn't overwrite it, instead it adds another one.
Weird 'eh!

Bookmarks missing from sidebar

After a recent upgrade to v. 9.0.1, the bookmarks that normally appear in my sidebar disappeared. They haven't disappeared totally as I can access them from the Bookmarks tab and they continue to reside on the Xmarks server. I just can't see them when I launch the Bookmarks sidebar. Xmarks Tech Support suggest it's a Firefox problem. Can you help?

Shared heading missing from sidebar

i have a macbook pro listed below, plus an imac 2.66 intel core 2 duo. i can see the mac book pro in the sidebar of the imac, but not the other way round. a while ago i remember "hiding" the shared tab from the sidebar, now i can not retrieve it .both are connected to the internet, and i am sharing files between the 2 as i write this. can anyone point me in the right direction please?

ITunes icon and App Store missing from my MacBook Pro

Hi,
I just changed my MacBook Pro hard drive but I now have a problem with iTunes and the App Store.
iTunes is opening and working correctly but the icon for it is a notepad with a pen. I tried to download the new version and install it but it is still the same.
The App Store has a question mark as an icon and doesn't open at all. When I clic on it, the icon is not even bouncing.
Please help me resolve this problem.

this might or might not work for you...i had something similar happened to me once when my icons and apps got switched around word became excel and excel became itunes.....etc....
what i did was verify my disk permissions - errors were found - i repaired them and when the repair was done, i restarted my macbook and everything was back to normal.
again, not sure it will work for you but it's worth a shot...

Odd... songs missing from iTunes, but still on my iPod

I came across an odd situation, where certain songs (burned and purchased) are listed in the iTunes library, but do not connect to a file on my PowerBook. I don't recall any situation where I would have accidentaly removed the files. For example, I might have songs from seven albums for an artist listed in the library, but only two of the album folders still exist in the iTunes Music Folder.
Although missing from the PowerBook, the song files are on my iPod. I feared that on the next sync, those files would be removed, as the PowerBook autosyncs and supposedly conforms the iPod to the iTunes library. But... no, the files have remained on the iPod through several syncs.
I can find a way to restore the purchased music (although the new purchased music sync on iTunes 7 didn't do it). I can't use my automated backups, because this situation seems to have been around for some weeks, without my awareness.
The problem started on iTunes 6, so it's not a quirk of iTunes 7 (which works fine for me so far).

I seem yo have a similar problem, this is where I have purchased the songs via iTunes, and they are on my iPod but do not appear in my iTunes library, nor are they in the artists folders.
I have recently upgraded to the latest version of iTunes v7.0.1, and I have only experienced this problem since I upgraded.

ITunes TV Show Store has vanished from AppleTV???

Hi,
The iTunes TV Show Store is missing from my AppleTV - bought just before the release of the current model.
By this I mean the list that appears under TV Shows on the main menu - Favorites, Top Shows, Networks and Search.
Only "My TV Shows" appears with the episodes that I have sync from my Mac.
There is the usual Cover Flow on the top of the screen for the most popular TV series, and from there I can access a very limited "Other Customers Also Bought".
I can use the Add To Favorites but the Favorites section still does not appear in the list on the main menu.
The iTunes Music and the Movie Store still appear and work correctly with all their functions.
I did have to restore the AppleTV to factory settings last week, but it was working fine after that.
The TV Show list just disappeared at some point on Saturday evening (I think).
I've tried other iTunes Stores that sell TV Shows like France and the UK, but I'm getting the exact same problem.
I was going to try another factory restore, but I thought I should see if this is a problem others are having (google shows nothing) - especially since the list just vanished while the device was in standby.

Why is "add to rig" missing from drop menu?

I am missing the "Add To Rig" option on the drop down menu when trying to add parameters. Interesting thing is that the parameter I'm trying to add already has the rig icon showing yet isn't showing when I publish. Am I missing a simple preference or option?
