ITunes 11 double click to minimize

Hi guys,
Overall iTunes 11 offers some nice improvements, and the ability to have a bit of the 'legacy' functionality in allowing the sidebar to still be used etc. is great. Very glad I can configure it.
However.... I can no longer double click anywhere in the title bar or header for iTunes to minimize the application which is extremely frustrating as it breaks the pattern from EVERY other OS X application where you have the option to double click to minimize, and to minimize into the application icon.
Does anyone know how to fix this, or is this not possible until Apple puts this feature back in?

I hope it's soon they fix it too - annoying me every time I forget and have to minimize it another way.
The default configuration of the machines in the Apple store is kind of annoying. I hope it wasn't an oversight or a cue towards simplification. In the store... the icons on the dock have no zoom at all, so one of the 'cool and defining' differences in OSX (IMO) is the dock behaviour and design with reflections etc. The applications all minimize to the right on the dock, instead of into their application icons and right click on the mouse setups is turned off, and the icons look messy on the right until you turn documents/downloads into display as folder. Makes things seem like a fisher-price toy a little bit until you customize it properly. I know a few people who weren't really liking OSX until a few of these options were turned on, and made a huge difference for them.
Anyways long story short.... let's get the functionality back Apple!

  • Can't double-click to minimize iTunes 11 toolbar?

I know this is a minor gripe compared to some of the other issues people are having with the new iTunes 11 (very odd that they'd take CoverFlow away, for example), but this one annoys me.  I've developed the habit of double-clicking my application windows (not the tiny yellow radio button) to minimize them and with the new iTunes, I'm no longer able to do that.
Was this an oversight?  Was this deliberate?  Seems very odd that they'd miss something obvious like this.
Or, alternatively, am *I* missing something?
    Thanks.

It's not just you....it's all of us it seems...  And it is pathetically annoying.  I cannot stand the little mini-box they want you to use and that double-clicking has gone away (on iTunes only!?!?!?) is really stupid.  It must be an oversight in the build.  Apple is supposedly about making things better but geez....

  • Why can't I double-click to minimize all App windows to the Dock in Yosemite?

I am running the Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D131). I have checked the Dock preference 'Double-click a window's title bar to minimize', but not all App windows will actually minimize to the Dock - why? Apple Apps should behave consistently.
    These apps behave as expected:
    Safari
    Mail
    Terminal
    Preview
    Pages
    Messages
    FaceTime
    App Store
    iBooks
    TextEdit
    Terminal
These apps DO NOT behave as expected:
    Reminders
    Notes
    Calculator
    iTunes
    Contacts

Not a feature. In fact, there's no way, using just Illustrator, to extract embedded images. But then, it's only at version THIRTEEN! I save a PDF using no downsampling or compression, then open in Photoshop. When you open a PDF in Photoshop you are given the option to rasterize any pages or extract images embedded in the PDF. Choose Images then select the images you want. Save as TIF or PSD and re-link in Illustrator.
    Yes, it is stupid.

  • ITunes double click problem (query bug)

With the recent iTunes update 7.7.1(11), I noticed that when switching between iTunes (esp. when it is in the compact mode) and other apps, a single mouse click in iTunes is often interpreted as a double click. This leads to distress when I try to pause the current track as the double click action pauses the track then plays it.
To relieve this symptom, I need to minimize iTunes and maximize it again.
Anyone else out there with the same problem?
(sorry about the double post - first time @ the discussion pages)

i'm having this same problem, but the "auto" double-clicking happens in mac mail. i've checked mouse settings, i've rebooted, but nothing seems to help. whenever i switch into mail, my first click is always treated as a double-click. (very annoying, since it usually opens a message into an unwanted window.)
another mouse-related problem: sometimes my mac seems to be swallowing mouse clicks. (not in mail, though! maybe that's where all those lost clicks are going! <g>) my mac acts as if i am clicking on a dead zone (that is, a region that doesn't accept clicks). i can click on the region all day (e.g. a tab in safari) and nothing will happen. if i, however, click on something else (even, say, just the background of a web page), the go back to the area that was dead moments before (that tab, e.g.), suddenly it accepts the click.
    any ideas?

  • Itunes won't respond to double clicking on a song once another song is play

hi. i open itunes, double click on a track and then if i want to play another track i double click on it but itunes won't respond and just keeps playing the original track. if i click on the track, it will highlight but won't play when double clicked. it will however play if i highlight with a single click and hit return. why is this happening. it never used to happen and doesn't on my other computer.

QuickTime X wouldn't have given the error message if it could have opened the file.
There are many file formats and codecs it can't view.

  • I can't double click to collapse firefox window into the dock

I'm running OS X with the newest Firefox (the Yahoo Edition.) Suddenly, double clicking in the top of the window no longer collapses it into the dock. I've tried repairing permissions and dumping the Firefox prefs to no avail. I just did a Firefox security update a few days ago and I'm wondering if that has anything to do the problem.

I have this problem too (Mac Firefox 21) but only when using a custom theme. When using the default Firefox appearance, I can still double-click to minimize Firefox to the dock. I wonder if all the other people who've complained of this problem were also using a custom theme?

  • Double-clicking an album no longer begins playback

Prior to this release of iTunes, double-clicking an album cover in album view would initiate playback of the entire album, queuing the all songs in "Up Next." This seems to be broken in 12.1, and clicking the "Play" symbol when the album is expanded to see the entire song list is also broken. When will this be corrected?

    Check
    System Preferences -> Mouse -> Double-Click
if the time is set to fast or to slow. 3 oder 4 bars from the right is the normal setting.

  • Double click title bar to minimize?

Hello, before I "upgrade" to iTunes 12, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if double clicking on the iTunes title bar minimizes the iTunes window?
For some unknown reason, Apple eliminated this functionality in iTunes 11, even though this is the way every other application/window behaves under OS X and is an option in the Dock.  Thanks much for replies.

    iTunes 11 - isn't this a title bar?
It looks the same as (for instance) Activity Monitor.  But with Activity Monitor (and every other app with this top bar look), double clicking on the bar minimimes the window.  Not so for iTunes 11.  So are you saying it just looks like a title bar, but isn't?

    Hi,
    transaction VA23 is for Quotations..
so in your select query write...
    select  vbeln
             erdat ........
from vbak into corresponding fields of table <table name>
*where vbtyp eq 'B'*. (Document type for Quotation)

  • Upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer minimize browser window by double-clicking title bar. Please advise!

I recently upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer my minimize browser window into the dock by double-clicking the title bar. I need to be able to use this feature. Please advise!

I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0.1.11 too (XP) and am seeing the same behavior. The little mini controller in the taskbar no longer works. If you double click the icon in the system tray, you can restore the iTunes window.
On the Advanced preferences tab, select both the "Show iTunes icon in system tray"
and the "Minimize iTunes window to system tray" checkboxes. If only the "Show iTunes icon in system tray" is selected, you will not be able to restore the iTunes window and will have to use the task manager to kill iTunes.
Hope this gets fixed, I found the task bar controller very handy for pausing/starting/volume control/etc.

  • All of my music that wasn't purchased from the itunes store has been faded out on my ipod, despite me being able to play them in itunes. half my songs have exclamation points but only in the 'on this ipod' section, and when i double-click no window appear

I'm freaking out because almost all my music except for those songs purchased directly from the iTunes store has been deleted from my iPod - about 35 gigs. The songs show up, but they're all faded out and unplayable from my device (I have the newest version). Exclamation points appear beside all my songs in the "On this iPod" section, and yet I can't double-click to locate the files as nothing pops up. Some of my music has a weird circle next to it and is even more faded out when I'm in the "On this iPod" section - that's been happening for a couple of days. Yesterday I tried to set my settings to sync with my library only, and it worked, but this morning everything got even worse with the rest of my songs disappearing. What's happening???? Help??

  • TS1717 I am unable to launch iTunes, when I double-click on the icon, a prompt comes up saying, "iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissons for this folder."  This issue occurred out of the blue!  How do I correct this?

I don't know what suddenly caused this.  I haven't installed anything weird or obscure, I've kept up with all of the normal updates for Windows, my anti-virus, and other normal software (Adobe, Apple products, Steam).  So all I did today was double-clicked on the iTunes icon, and the prompt that I supplied kept popping up.  I rebooted my computer, I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and all of my Apple products (Quicktime, Safari).  But nothing seems to be working.
I could sure use some much appreciated assistance!!!  Thank you!

I did what I could out of the information provided, however there was quite a bit of difference between the XP format and Windows 7.  After trying what I could, I was still receiving the same error message.  Besides trying to fix this issue, I'm also trying to figure out how this whole thing started to begin with.

Others have commented on this too.  It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development.  You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of  progress.

  • Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.

Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.  This onloy seems to happen when I double-click on the song to play it in itunes.  If I just hit play, this doesnt happen.  As a result, I have several albums now in which the songs are in the wrong order.  Its very frustrating, as this error then transfers over to my ipod every time I sync it.  When I choose the info. for the songs, it has them correctly listed (i.e., it lists the songs as being #1 of 19 on the CD, for example).  But then the song will have placed by Itunes as #5 of 19 for whatever reason.  Itunes does not do this every time, but does it with enough frequency to be maddening.  Any thoughts?

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
at Dougs Scripts, there is one called iTunes Track CPR that might work
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=itunestrackcpr
or, if you just want a list of de-linked tracks, go to
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
and find the script called List MIA's, this will create a text file listing all de-linked tracks
