ITunes 11 iOS 8 sync cancelling

i have thousands of books to sync to my mini which I use only as a reader. SSuddenly since upgrading to iOS 8 using iTunes 11 on my pic, the sync cancels randomly. Yes, randomly. It now takes a week to get all my books across to my mini.
whats up with this? Any idea how I can resolve the problem please?

I am having a similar issue. Since upgrading to iOS 8 and iTunes 11.4 - wifi sync is very unstable. Devices may or may not show up in iTunes - or they show up and then disappear. Additionally the wifi sync (when it works) seems to get hung up syncing apps. Turning all devices off and on again - seems to improve things - but then the problems begin again shortly afterward. For me this is happening with an iPhone 5 and an iPad 2 - syncing to a late 2012 27" iMac. I won't have an iPhone 6 for a few more weeks.
In the past - wifi sync "sort of worked" - and it was never fully stable - but it seems much less stable with iOS 8. The iMac has always been "wired" and wifi is rarely turned on on the iMac. The behavior is the same whether the iMac is on Wifi, Wired - or both.
Also I have never quite been able to get Wifi sync to wake the Mac when it is sleeping. It will actually wake the iMac - but it never seems to be able to start the sync and the iMac goes back to sleep. This has always been the case - however - on iOS 7 and prior versions of iTunes - the Mac would occasionally wake up and actually perform the sync. With iOS 8 - it wakes - but goes nowhere. I do have a time capsule on my network and it is handling the sleep proxy requirement for waking the iMac. Interesting - the remote app on the iPhone/iPad - wakes the iMac and works flawlessly. Screen sharing and file sharing also wake the iMac and both work flawlessly. I can also reproduce the same behavior if I move my iTunes library to my Mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro - so the issue is definitely iOS 8 and iTunes 11.4.
I have several Macs still under apple care - and I may just call Apple support to see what they say about this. I will report back what I find.

Sync problem through iTunes between iOS devices and iCal

This is a mess and has been troubling me for months. Please help!
***Devices:
iPhone 5, iOS current
iPad 1, iOS current
MacBook Pro 10.7.current, iCal (2.8 ghz ICD2)
***Sync setup:
I have and have used a MobileMe account but made sure both iPhone and iPad were set for *no* calendar sync. There's no sync checkbox for Calendar sync with the MobileMe Systems Preferences (there was in earlier versions). For the sake of thoroughness I went into MobileMe via it's web interface and deleted each calendar (creating a "tossme" calendar with no events in it because Mme requires one calendar). I signed out / sign back in periodically because I was getting errors occasionally. The online Mme Calendar is completely empty as far as I can see.
After a sync (for backup) I unchecked the Info > Calendar box and agreed to delete all events on the iPhone and the iPad. That wiped off whatever was on the iPad and the iPhone. Then I re-checked all calendars for both devices, setting them to not sync events over 30 days. The calendars on both the iPhone and the iPad now had events from the iCal calendars on my MBkP. But the iPad and iPhone calendars *also* had a few events not on the MBkP: They had "New Event" from when I created an even not he iCal calendar and then renamed and / or changed the calendar for that even. They *also* had the blank and default New Event.
***Test events
I then went to each device in turn and created an event at 4 PM today in the default calendar called, respectively, from iPad, from iPhone, from MBkP ical. I then synced both the iPad and iPhone through iTunes as usual. What happened is *exactly* what's been happening for about 6 months. Here was what was on each device after a successful sync:
MBkPro: Only the "from MBkP iCal" event and no other of these test events.
iPhone: Four events: New Event, from MBkP iCal, from iPhone, from iPad
iPad: exactly the same events as the iPhone has.
I then deleted *all* of the four events *just* from the iPhone and synced these devices in this specific order: iPhone, iPad.
After the deletion inn the iPhone and the since I end up with this: Just the from MBkP iCal on all three devices.
***Conclusions:
These devices sync but
--the MBkP *only one way*, that is *to* the iPhone and iPad, including (annoyingly) every iteration of an event instead of the final form of an event (hence every "new event"….)
--Both the iPad and iPhone sync all events back and forth amongst themselves and take as separate events every stage of any event *from* the MBkP iCal but nothing *to* the iCal on the MBkP. (This generates lots of other dups, by the way…I'm outlining the simplest case here.)
***Other stuff I've tried
Back when I could get iCal to sync calendars / events with Mme I using that as a conduit for sync between the three (i.e.: telling iTunes to ignore calendar syncing). And a bunch of other stuff. Same result.
I've examined lots of settings repeatedly. No change.
***What I want:
I'd like all three of these devices to
--sync as equals--each of them to sync their calendars / events back and forth (i.e.: the iCal on MBkP taking events from both the iPad and iPhone).
--Each of them to only have the most recently modified version of an event.
--ideally (but not as important) a copy of all these calendars and evens on the web-based MobileMe calendar (although I recall hearing that Apple is phasing out this function).

I'm having the same issue.
It started when I updated the iOS 7 on my Iphone 5 and my ipad mini and downloaded de iTunes 11.1.
Now I can't sync my playlists all at once or even in few selections of playlists, because it gets stucked on fourth step "waiting for changes to be applied" and after some minutes the sync simbol disappear on iphone and continues on iTunes, but it does nothing.
I also left an entire night to see if the problem was slowness to sync, but it did nothing, it really gets stucked. I've also tried a few different ways to sync (restart, reset, clean logs), but it doesn't work and it isn't allowing me to sync a couple of playlists in a row. Sometimes even a single playlist is not syncing.
I believe a new iTunes release it will be required

IPhone 4s no longer syncs in iTunes with iOS 5.1 - "Waiting for sync to start..."

Anyone else having this issue after the update from iOS 5.0.1 --> iOS 5.1
itunes sees the iPhone 4s, however syncing just hangs at the "Waiting for sync to start..."

Since I attempted to sync this morning, I did not have a chance to troubleshoot more before work.
I will try the following later:
1) Turn off iDevice, restart PC, re-sync
2) Turn off iDevice, uninstall iTunes, restart PC, re-sync
3) Turn off iDevice, uninstall iTunes, restart PC, backup to iOS 5.0.1 & re-sync
4) Return iPhone to Sprint for another one.

well i have to be honest, but i don't know if it the vista you use has any significance for this. but you can try.
okay follow:
1: click "start" on the status line on the buttom of your screen.
2: then click on "all Programs" and find "Accessories" and find the "command prompt"
3: Right click with your mouse "command prompt" and click on "run as administrator"
(as you has click'd on "run as administrator", "command prompt" should appear.)
4: when it appears you need to type this "netsh windsock reset"
5: wait for your computer to registrer the command you gave it, and restart your computer.
then erverything should be pretty much as good or better then new.

Why won't iTunes 11.0.1 sync my Podcasts to my 3rd Gen iPod Touch on IOS 6.0.1? I'm running iTunes on my MacBook with Mac OSX 10.6.8. I've checked to make sure in iTunes that the Podcast Sync box is checked and it is. I've tried checking communities and tried several suggestions and nothing seems to work for me. Everything else syncs except Podcasts. I can't figure it out. Any suggestions to get Podcasts syncing to my iPod Touch again? Thanks!

One other step I've tried was removing and completely reinstalling the playlist to the iPod. That cleared up the problem for about two days.

I spent off and on 24 hours finally getting my ios 5 update on my ipod touch 4g. When i first upgraded itunes to 10.5, when I tried to upgrade to ios5 the udgrade kept crashing. Then my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Im on a PC with windows 7 (64-bit). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. My ipod coninues to not sync. So, I finally reverted my ipod back to factory settings and then it took like 8 hours total for my ipod to revert, update to ios 5, and then resync my apps, music & vids and settings with itunes. I thought YES EVERYTHING IS GREAT. Starting using ios 5 and was loving it. Till, i wanted to resync with itunes to enable wifi syncing.
Now, everytime i plug in my ipod, it says Syncing my ipod (step 2 of 8) and the stripy thing is moving...and below that it ways Backing up
but then it just keeps saying this for hours. never moves beyond "step 2", So i end up having to open task manager and closing out itunes. Then when i reopen itunes it will freeze up. I uninstalled'reinstalled itunes now 4 times and the same thing happens...the sync never gets beyon step 2...backing up.
WHAT CAN I DO? please help! Desperate

ah now i see your reply in the thread. well, i am sorry yours wont tuen on or even get recognized. *** is going on with this stuff. i really love the ios5 but if i cant sync with itunes im screwed. i dont want to have to pay for more iCloud storage for backing up either!!!

How to make an app deleted from iTunes library be deleted from all the iOS devices synced with this library?

I have 3 iOS devices synced with iTunes apps library (OS X 10.10.2)
Can someone tell me how to make not only added but deleted apps be synced also? I mean I want an app deleted in iTunes library be deleted from any iOS devices synced with this library.

But it was working some time before! What and when has changed?
There was even a warning popup window something about "this application will be deleted from all the devices synced with this library"
Now there's opposite message - "This application will not be deleted from any device syncing with this account". Isn't it some kind of clue that there can be conrarily circumstances - when application IS deleted from ANY device synced with this computer?

Try rebooting your computer and reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

I just found out that I am having the same problem!! It is driving me nuts. Now I know why I am running out of space on my iPhone. It's ghosting the others songs, until you see them when you go to sync. Hopefully, someone has an answer. I have gone through every HELP subject and discussion board I could find on the situation.

Itunes 11.1.3 syncing music with iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4 help!!!

The edited music I have in my iTunes library will not sync or transfer to the music on my phone. Such as editing "Artist, Artist Album, Title, etc." and this is very frustrating and annoying. Does anyone have any solutions? I've restored and took off my music twice and no changes from my library to phone have been made. Using Windows PC.

ITunes COM SDK to sync Audiobook with iOS 5 issue

My application has been using iTunes COM SDK for Windows to add tracks into iOS devices and it's been working for years. Until the recently released iTunes 10.5 versus iOS 5, the added tracks are missing from the iOS 5 devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.).
The SDK calls are returned successfully and from desktop, the iTunes 10.5 shows the tracks under "Books" folder of iOS 5 device correctly. I can also play it form desktop. But, from the iOS 5 device, the track is totally missing!!! However, if I perform a search in the device with the track name, then I can find it and play it. It just does not list under the Audiobooks folder of the device!
If I used the same SDK calls to add to "Music" folder, then it works fine.
Any idea? I suspect it is a bug either in iTunes 10.5 or iOS 5? Because apparently the audio track is there, iTunes 10.5 sees it, but the iOS 5 can't?

Thanks for the reply. The functions from iTunes COM SDK are straightforward. Find the IITIPodSource to the connected device and then obtain its IITLibraryPlaylist interface to call AddFile() or AddTrack() depends on whether the audio file is from file system or from iTunes Library. The trick for the audio file to be categorized in Audiobooks is to use ".m4b" file extension for AAC encoded format.
It has been working for earlier iTunes versus iOS 4 and under, and it is still working, the file still shows up in iTunes > iOS 5 device > Books. However, the iOS 5 device's Music app does not pick it up. I found that if I tried to use ".m4a" then the iOS 5 device will pick it up under "Songs" (or "Music" under iTunes).
I think either the AddTrack() or AddFile() calls have bugs or the iOS 5 Music app has glitch that cannot pickup certain files added into device. I've submitted bugs to http://bugreport.apple.com, at the same time, maybe someone from the community has idea to work around this?

Sync cancelled

My eMac OS X 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.5.3 is as up-to-date as it can get, my iPhone 4 is also using the most up-to-date iOS 5.0.1 and it will not sync any music, movies, etc despite a complete restore. Highly frustrating. Each time I try to sync in iTunes it goes through 6 steps and each time at the end at step 6 says 'sync cancelled'. Anyone any ideas as to the cause and solution please? Thanks.

Do you have any antivirus or anti-malware on your Mac (most people don't, but occasionally there are people who don't believe that Apple products are adequately protected)? If so try disabling it.
Next, be sure you are using a USB port directly on the Mac, not a hub.
After these checks try reinstalling iTunes by downloading a clean copy from http://www.apple.com/itunes and installing over the current one.
