Itunes 11 repeatedly asking for password

This seems not to matter if I'm even using iTunes or not.  If the program isn't forcibly quit (it almost never is, since the family uses the AppleTV all day), the password entry window will pop up on the iMac over and over again.  I just had it happen 7 times in 5 minutes and I'm about to lose it.  Any help greatly appreciated.

one more time.

    Hello reynolae,
The following article contains a number of useful steps for getting iTunes to quiet down, at least with regards to asking for your password.

What can I do, iPad disabled/lockout and iTunes keeps asking for password, I cannot restore...iTunes grays out backup and restore but my iPad and iPod shows on Apple etc..???

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer, leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

okay well they got me to take out some .plist files to see if that would help it didn't. I'm not sure what ones that they deleted for my self maybe someone here would be abel to tell you what ones to take out but didn't work the one that came close to working was this going into keychain and deleting the account(s) then reading them again.
if you are to do this please back up first with Time Machine. You can do this with a usb drive.
Okay so go back to where you had internet accounts and make sure mail is shut. click the - on the account your having problems with then quit system preferences.
Okay so then press cmd and space bar at the same time then type 'keychain access' into the search then click on 'keychain access'
once it is open go to the top of the window and put your email address that you are having problems with.
once you have put in your full email, have a look at what comes up i deleted things in the kind colome with 'internet password' and anything with under name that had smtp.gmail.com or imap.gmail.com so it would look like this, map.gmail.com - internet password.
right click and delete them. make sure not to touch any other files that dont say them things on them.
Once you have done this quit keychain access and then restart the computer, once the computer is restarted go back to system preferences and internet accounts and re-add the account.
Hope this helps. if something is not clear just ask.

  • For restoring from backup itunes is asking for password

    Hi Experts
for restoring from backup itunes is asking for password and i didn't give any password when backup was going on not even i checked on encrypt my backup.
    please help me ASAP

    See:

I too have experienced the "blame everything but Apple products/software" indoctrination of the Apple phone support techs!
I have a feeling that iTunes automatically switches encryption on and puts as default a previous iTunes store password but as I don't leave mine the same all the time (and don't feel the need to remember historic passwords that I'm not using to secure anything against) I have no clue what it is.
Good luck trying to get useful advice on here relating to the issue, it will go along the lines of...
    1) Its your fault for setting it and forgetting the password,
    2) We know everything and theres definately no way iTunes would set backups to encrypt without your knowledge and...
    3) Theres no fix for this issue, you might be able to save some of your data, but most will be lost (unless you specifically ask for an iTunes redownload exemption/ token then your purchases could be lost too).
Welcome to the world of Apple!

  • Outlook for Mac 2011 repeatedly asks for password to my BlueHost email.  Outlook says the password is incorrect, but the password is never changed.

We are using Outlook 2011 for Mac on OS X Version 10.8.8.  We have IMAP email service through BlueHost.  Just about everyday, Outlook says that the BlueHost password is incorrect and asks if we would like to re-enter it.  When this started, we would enter the password and ask that the password be saved in Keychain.  But this question keeps popping up just about everyday.  How do we get Outlook to keep this password permanently so we are not prompted for the password anymore?

    One thing to check.
Password – Mail keeps asking for Password
Try running Keychain First Aid and resetting the original keychain.

  • New e-mail address, so created new apple id, iTunes store asks for password for old e-mail/apple id

There are lots of posts on this subject over the years about this problem but none of the solutions work for me.
Apple id problems go back many years, if they cant handle that, how do we trust them in security issues?
anyway, here is what it says.
    Sign into iTunes store
Enter the Apple ID password for
    "old e-mail address"
So I enter the password (same one as before, it works in Mail etc on the iPad, only a problem on iTunes store.
App updates would not work, but they finally did when I did a iPad reset and backup restore.
But the iTunes store apple id problem is still there.
I am a user of Apple since 1982, do not like where things are going, honestly, but they are the only game in town. Not a fan of overly automated system processes with no feeling of "transparency" in the way things happen these days.
Can anyone help?  If not I will live with it, but..........this is not the old Apple any more.

It may not be called Express lane any longer, but this is where you find it now: https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action
On your old email - Apple does not assume an email will not change. This is why they provide for recovery if you no longer have access to the email. In order for that to work however, you needed to have followed their recommendation and set up your security questions and/or provided a secondary email address. If you not longer have access, they you can try calling Apple and asking for the Account Security Team. If you can convince them you are who you say you are, they may be able to help reset your password.
Are you saying iTunes on your computer is updating all Apps? If so, I don't understand how. Apps purchased on your old Apple ID are able to be updated only using the Apple ID used to purchase or download them. If what you ar esaying is true, I suspect only thos apps tied to your new Apple ID are being checked and updated. If it is happening as you describe, your iPad is the one behaving as it should, not iTunes on your computer.
Please do not take offence to this but it still seems as if you don't understand how the Apple ID works, not just that you don't agree with it. I've refined my analogy a bit, so please bear with me. I am not trying to be condesending but I HAVE tried to made it as simple as possible for anyone else that may read this.
Imagine you buy a house. You have keys to the house and once inside, you buy all the funrniture you need - with one condition - because of some complicated distribution agreements with the furniture manufacturers, the seller mandates that the furniture you buy must be used only in that house.
Some day in the future, you lose the keys to your house so you buy the house next door with its own new set of keys. You go inside the new house and wonder where all your furniture has gone. Simply, you own both houses but
Upset at this situation, you try to recover your keys to your first house by asking the bank to mail them. You once had the chance to give the bank an alternate address to which they could mail keys but didn't so not they can only mail them to the first house. Since you can't get inside, you cannot retrieve the new keys that they send.
After getting some good advice, you decide to talk to visit the bank personally. You convince them you are the owner of house #1 and they give you a new set of keys. Yay!
You go back to house #1 and finally manage to get in. But, since house #2 is newer, you decide to live there. Now you want to move your furniture so you have a comfortable place to sit and sleep. Oops, you can't take the furniture from the old house because of your agreement with the Furniture seller so you have to buy new furniture.
    House = Apple ID
    Keys = Password
Furniture = Apps and other content purchased with the first Apple ID
    Keys = Password
Alternate Address = Alternate Email Address
    Furniture Seller = Apple
Furniture Makers = App Developers, Film and Music Rights Holders
You may not agree with this, but the fact is, Apple owns very little of the content they sell - basically only their own apps and iOS itself. Allowing merging of Apple IDs or transfering ownership of Apps from one Apple ID to another is a logistical nightmare and would create major issues with app developers, music and film rights holders and anyone else who provides content for sale through iTunes or the App Store.
You cannot compare a functioning iCloud with non-functioning iTunes and App Stores. iCloud doesn't care about your apps - it's about syncing and identification (iMessage, Facetime, iCloud services like Find My iDevice) only. So long as you are using the same Apple ID on each device, it will sync between them any supported content you decide. In fact you can use a different Apple ID for all there if you wanted. The key is to be CONSISTENT.
One additional thing we have not brought up already. If the iPad was activated with your original Apple ID and you ever need to restore it (not an uncommon possibility), you will run into a problem with Activation Lock. It's a security feature designed to discourage iDevice theft by rendering it useless if one tries to activate it using anything other than the Apple ID used to activate it originally.
Again, you may not agree with how it works, but I hope this finally makes sense and you at least understand how it works.

  • ITunes repeatedly asking for network access

Since I upgraded iTunes recently to the latest version, my system is asks for iTunes network access every time I log in. I always grant access, enter my admin login and password and it still asks me this same question every time I log into my system. I would be most grateful for any suggestions that anyone may have on this issue.

    Anybody have any ideas?

  • Exchange Admin Center repeatedly asks for password

I have installed Exchange 2013 CU6 to be part of a hybrid in-house/Office365 email domain for a small non profit agency. Exchange seems to have installed correctly. However, I cannot log in to the Exchange Admin Center (or OWA, or ECP). The login screen
accepts the user name and password, blinks, and asks for the password again as if nothing happened. If I put in a bad password or user names, it give me a username/password failed error. Therefore, I know it is recognizing the correct password.
I have tried IE on the Exchange server and other domain computers, and all act the same way. I have created another account and Exchange enabled it, and it acts the same way all around. I cannot find any error messages on the Exchange server. The domain
and forest are at 2008 R2 levels, and all domain controllers are 2008 R2. The Exchange server is on 2012 (not R2).
I have done some searching and not found anyone else describing a similar problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you use the following URL to access EAC and OWA to check the result.

Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • I am repeatedly asked for password for POP3 account? Sometimes it accepts it but usually it takes at least 3 attempts?

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro. Prior to this I have always used a PC. Having set up a POP3 email account I am now continuously being asked for the password, despite entering it in the email account set up. Sometimes it works but usually I have to type the password in 3 or 4 times - sometimes more. It is extremely frustrating. Any help gratefully received.

If my MBP has trouble reaching the pop mail server it apparently assumes the password is wrong and displays the password request screen.  I always click cancel until it goes away, usually three times as you mention.  That takes the account off line.  Later I put the account back on line and it works fine.  I see this once or twice a week.
It happens with the Comcast pop server and the AIM IMAP server.

  • Why does the itunes store ask for passwords to different accounts?

Sometimes when I sign on to buy something at the iTunes store it will ask me for a password to an old.mac account. Then in ther cases it will ask me for a more current account.
And how do I combine all of the ourchaes from both these accounts into one?

You can't currently combine accounts, nor transfer content from one account to another account - content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it, so only that account will be able to authorise its content, re-download it, and/or download updates to its apps.
