ITunes 11.x resetting itself every time its closed and relaunched

Itunes 11.x keeps resetting itself every time I close it and then later reopen. It prompts accepting the end user agreement, then upon entering, all the sync preferences are reset. Doesn't seem to effect backup of apps or music library. I'm using windows vista 64. Tried reinstalling several times removing every apple component including, all apple sub files, preference files in windows user folders, and all other apple folders, with no change upon reinstallation. Tried resetting sync history/cache in iTunes preferences, tried resetting admin rights in windows, tried enough to make this miserable. Can't find any solutions online though have found a lot of people complaining about the same issues with iTunes 11. Thought about removing 11 and installing older version though figured I'd try here first for a solution.
Thank you for the help...

  • MBP doesn't wake up every time its closed - tried resetting SMC

    Hi All,
My Macbook Pro 17" unibody intel has a very annoying problem that almost every time I close the lid and then open it again the screen is not turning on and nothing will happen. The white LED on the front will be on, but nothing will wake it up. I hold down the power button for about 5seconds and can hear the MBP turning off. THen I push the power button again and it boots up.
A few months ago it was doing this very randomly .. maybe once every few weeks. Now it does it all the time, rarely can I close the lid without it happening. And then today it did it and when I turned it back on the clock was reset to January 1st 2000.
Searched on here and similar problems people say to reset the SMC .. I tried this but it has already done it again since.
    Any help or advice?
    Thanks!

There's a short-term fix, as well as a possible solution.
In the short term, you might want to download the free DeepSleep, a widget that allows you to put your MBP asleep more securely than before. Before I fixed my sleep problem, DeepSleep turned out to be quite useful.
In the long term, you may want to go to your System Preferences. There's nothing wrong with your MBP; it's just that some process is going on that takes precedence over sleep. Go to System Preferences/Sharing, and see if any boxes are checked. Depending on what other applications are being used, enable or disable applications, and then try to sleep.

  • IPod Classic 120GB ejects every time its connected and found by iTunes.

My iPod is about to drive me insane, I came home today and connected it to take a few songs off of it and change it so it wouldn't continue to sync my entire library. Upon doing so now every time I connect it it gets ejected before I can restore it because it won't stay connected. What can I do to stop this?

Okay I was lucky enough to be able to click restore and it was in the process when it disconnected so when I connected it again it restored it. What in the world caused this? Any ideas?

  • ITunes Makes Me Log in Every Time I Open It

iTunes v. 12.0.1.26 and Yosemite updates recently installed. 2012 27" iMac
iTunes makes me log in every time I open it. I thought the problem was fixed in THIS THREAD and it was a very helpful set of instructions by Linc but the problem keeps recurring.
I reposted the question in that thread, but since the thread is marked as solved I'm afraid no one will see it. So I'm reposting here.
    Situation:
Upon opening iTunes I get messages popping up telling me to
Sign in to iTunes to use this computer for automatic downloads
Sign in to iTunes for iTunes Radio to use autodowload
Sign in to iTunes to check for downloads
(repeat of) Sign in to iTunes to use this computer for automatic downloads
Sign in to use iTunes Store
These happen one after another, rapidly. Every time. I called Apple help as well and they didn't have any further help.
I've repaired permissions, trashed my plist for iTunes from my Library, done all of Linc's instruction in the other thread.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
    If the box marked
              Keep login keychain unlocked
    is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • HT201272 Why all my previous downloaded apps (free or paid) suddenly not showing up on the iTunes store "purchased" section.  Every time I select "purchased", the next screen shows "no purchased app available for downloaded"?? Please help!!

Why all my previous downloaded apps (free or paid) suddenly not showing up on the iTunes store "purchased" section.  Every time I select "purchased", the next screen shows "no purchased app available for downloaded"?? It is the same on my iphone4 or ipad 2!!  Please help!!

Dear Metal Wheels and King Penguin.
I have to actually same problem today 23.10.2012. For an example I have only changed billing methods and have bought hundreds of apps but I remember clearly that I bought for an example ,,Wikipanion Plus'' and ,,OPlayer'' which is now HD OPlayer and I did not see them in purchased items, neither ,,not on ipad/iphone'' nour ,,not on my computer'' and I check in both my computer. I confirm hereby that I took the chance to re-buy these two Apps again through the same account but I got the message ,,As you have bought the previous version on this account you will get this update for free'' so I clicked yes and I got them both. This doesnt only proof that I have purchased them before and purchased items in iTunes Store has some lacks to fix but also it proofs that I also bought them through that specific account as I had to confirm the buying process. In my opnion this is not a thing which Apple should be relaxed with as its very important that powerusers and regular consumers can trust and rely on doing business and to shop via iTunes. I have a lot of expensive Apple Hardware and for me this is a stepping stone and a serious test on the circle of trust. If this cant be fixed I cannot recommend others to trust the store.

  • Itunes play lists are deleted every time I reboot my PC

    Hi there,
I've recently purchased a Sony Vaio laptop and have installed the latest version of itunes. Only problem is every time I create new playlists, itunes forgets them / erases them when I reboot! I also have to import my library every time I reboot as no songs come up. Any ideas why this is? It's a real pain as I need playlists to organise my huge song collection.
    Many thanks,
    Miksweety

Many Vaio owners have seen this exact problem. There is some Sony media management software that causes a conflict with itunes saving its library database file.

  • HT1364 I have moved my library to an external hard drive and changed the location of the iTunes media folder in Preferences, but every time I close and re-open iTunes, I have to do it all over again.  How can I make the iTunes media folder change permanen

I have moved my library to an external hard drive and changed the location of the iTunes media folder in Preferences, but every time I close and re-open iTunes, I have to do it all over again.  How can I make the iTunes media folder change permanent?  I have an older machine with Windows XP.

I don't believe mounting the hard drive should be necessary, unless you have several external drives and want your computer to recognise them as folders, rather than drives. I've never had to mount a hard drive, ever. If you don't know how to do it, then it shouldn't be necessary now.
    Try this:
Prepare iTunes so that it can see the external drive.
Make a note of which drive-letter the external drive has been allocated. (Look in Windows Exploer)
Look at the file location for a song. Make sure it plays (and therefore that iTunes has found it). Highlight it and select File/Get Info/Summary>Where: and make a note of the drive letter for that song.
Close and shut down the computer.
The next time you turn the computer on again, connect the external drive
Before you start iTunes - check the external drive in Windows Explorer. Is it ready, does it have the same drive-letter that it had last time? Can you go into the drive and see the files on it?
Once you can, start iTunes. (If the drive lettter has changed, you need to work out why before going any further.)
If iTunes fails to find your external drive, you need to check where iTunes is looking for your Library.
Select the same song you checked before (presumably iTunes can no longer find it). Follow the procedure for locating it. You should be able to see where iTunes thinks the file is. It's the drive that counts. Which drive letter is iTunes looking at? Is it the same one that it was previously (which should also be the same one that the drive has now).
What happens, which step do you have problems with?

  • ITunes crashes every time i try and update genius.

I have itunes 10.1.2 and every time i try and update my genius it gets to 75% done and then I get the pin wheel and iTunes does not respond. I have heard people having this problem with older versions of iTunes but no one having it happen recently. Any help would be welcome.

A few others having this problem, and I'm sorry I've got nothing to offer. What I did get through Apple support was that because the error message is coming from Windows, it's not something "in" iTunes that's causing it. So it is some sort of incompatibility that has to be dealt with via Windows. Very disappointing, but will at least save you the grief of looking for a solution via iTunes -- there isn't one.

  • Every time I try and install iTunes 9.2 my laptop freezes up

Every time I try and install iTunes 9.2 my Acer Aspire 5920 freezes up when the install gets to registering iTunes Automation Service. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have the iPhone 3GS 32 GB, with the new iOS 4 OS. Since I have the OS upgrade I can't get update my iPhone without 9.2. In the past I have had problems getting iTunes to update but have always been able to go back to an earlier version but now with iOS 4 that is no longer an option.

For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\<User>\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
