ITunes 12.0.1.26 quits on launch Windows 7 64-bit

Question

Hi, so I recently got a new iPhone, and naturally, I wanted to install iTunes.
When I install iTunes and run it, it tells me I need to install Bonjour. I do that, and then it tells me to do something else, then something else, then something else, and finally, after launching it for the 5th time, it instantly stops responding and within about 3 seconds, gives me an error message which tells me iTunes has stopped working, and must be closed. I went through the troubleshooting process of completely uninstalling all iTunes-related things, and the Apple file in Program Files (x86) would not be deleted because it was running in another task. I looked everywhere for this other task, but to no avail. So, I just ignored it, finished the troubleshooting process, and reinstalled iTunes. It is now telling me to install Bonjour.
So, I have 2 questions:
1.The Bonjour etc. files are in the iTunes setup files, so why aren't they installed right then and there?
2.How in the world do I fix this?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
