ITunes 12.0.1.26x64 installation issue Windows 7

Hi,
I'm having trouble installing iTunes 12 on my Windows 7 (x64) notebook and desktop. Below is the error I'm seeing when copying new files.
The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files\(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\nb.lproj. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
Rolls back installation when cancelled. I've tried uninstalling iTunes already, and performing a fresh install. Any ideas?

Not sure if it will help others who made read this thread but...
Have successfully installed iTunes 12 now! All I did was use IObit Uninstaller 4 and removed every trace of Apple software before performing a clean install using iTunes64Setup.exe (119MB) file (that I downloaded manually).

  • Itunes installation issues, Windows Vista x64

Ok, so I have been having issues with the new update of iTunes. I had tried to avoid updating because I had heard there were some issues with the cross format compatablility of the new software but after doing a massive cleanup on my harddrive i figured I had held out long enough.  I updated, and I immediatly began having issues with the iTunes store. The bar would load about half way and just stick. I lost all the money on my giftcards from christmas and I couldn't buy the new music I wanted. I tried all of the troubleshooting I could find on the Apple website as well as the MS site, but no luck, so I uninstalled Itunes and thought that reinstalling it would fix the issue. I downloaded the installer exe. but every time I run it, it tells me that "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occured durring installation. Your system hasn't been modified."
I have  purged my computer of apple software, both 32 and 64 bit. I have no idea what else to do, And i need a fix soon because I have people relying on my ability to have new, high quality music on a bi-weekly basis.
Thanks to anyone who can help, I am desprate at this point.

    Try following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Itunes 10 and Quick Time Installation on Windows 7

I have installed iTunes 10.6.3.25 on a Windws 7 Operating system and I had what appears to be the same problems of not being able to intall the software and I followed the trobleshooting guide on:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
I have now been able to install the software in the automatically selected folder of C:\Program Files(x86) however I am still expereincing the following problems:
    - I was unable to launch itunes however I launched it in Safe Mode and the following messages are received in order:
"iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly"
The only option to select at this point is "OK" once selected iTunes then opens and then the the next message is received:
"iTunes: iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point I_NetNameCanonicalize could not be located in the dynamic link library NETAPI32.dll"
The only option to select at this point is "OK" once selected iTunes finishes opening.
Further I note that following the initial installation of iTunes Quick Time Player did not automatically install so I downloaded from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ QuickTime 7.7.2. Once downloaded I attempted to install the executable file (as administrator) and after the standard message of Windows 7 appears as follows:
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" (Program name QuickTime....etc)
    I select "Yes"
Then a dialog box appears very breifly that normally comes up when installing new software, however before the dialog box populates with any information it dissapears and the installation process stops.
So once iTunes has finshed opening I attempt to open one of the movies in my library and as expected the following message appears:
"This movie requires Quick Time, which is not included in this version of iTunes.
To play this movie, instal Quick Time."
    Assistance would be appreciated.

I got it to work now ...
-Unistall the current iTunes on your computer.
    - go to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1427
-Go all the way down the page and download the iTunes through the given link
----------Download for iTunes 10.4.1 for Windows  (64 - bit) here:  iTunes 10.4.1 for Windows 64-bit.
-Once downloaded if a message window pops up with a message "the file itunes library.itl cannot be read"
Just go to My documents-> Music folder -> iTunes folder -> delete library.itl if existing or add it if it doesn't exist.
it worked for me so I believe that it should
    Good luck

  • Installation Issue - Windows

I've heard one other report of this happening but haven't discovered a solution yet. Installation hangs on my Windows XP Pro machine that meets the hw/sw requirements. The process viewer indicates IDriver.exe is consuming 100% of the CPU. I've let this thing run for an hour with no change. The TNS listener service is created successfully, but nothing after that.
    Any clues?

I having the same problem: The installer freezes for 20 minutes when it gets to the step, “Creating and Starting Services for Oracle Database 10g Express Edition.” IDriver.exe consumes all the CPU, and I eventually have to force quit the installer.
I am using Windows XP Pro SP2 on an AMD Athlon 64 with 1GB of memory. I’m logged in as “CTO” which has full admin privileges. The password I entered in the installer was “oracle”. The locale has always been US English. No other Oracle products are installed.
I deleted all the files and registry keys, downloaded the installer again, rebooted, and the same thing keeps happening when I tried installing again. Any ideas?
Does the installer try to create any service accounts for Oracle to run in? Is it possible to create them before installation?

Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down?

  • ITunes 10 Installation Error: Windows Installer

I'm sure this is a common issue, but I have yet to even solve this problem and I am in need of assistance. Topic with same issue: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2599360
I have uninstalled a previous version of iTunes to upgrade to iTunes 10. When I finished downloading it, I go into the installation process. Right in the middle of the installation, an error message pops up with this:
+*There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.*+
+*A program required for this install to complete could not be run.*+
+*Contact your support personnel or package vendor.*+
I've tried many solutions while I lurked the internet:
    -Run As Administrator
    -Installed the Latest Updates
    -Updated Windows Installer
    -Cleared Unworking Registry Files
And some I may have forgotten, but I'm sure I covered all of it.
I'm still given the same issue after all that.
Is there something that still needs to be done?
I'm running on an Acer laptop with Windows Vista.

    Thanks for the help, polydorus!
But now I have another issue.
Before I had the iTunes problem, my sister gave me her iPod Touch 3G, which has been synced on her laptop before. I resetted via the Reset Options in the iTouch, then after a reboot, it came up with the iTunes Logo, a +, with the USB iPod Connector. So, I did what it said. I pulled up iTunes and plugged the iTouch in... The iPod Touch doesn't appear on the list. I tried unplugging it and putting it back in, resetting iTunes... then I upgraded iTunes, and now I'm still having the same problem.
So, my question is now... How can I get iTunes to find my iTouch?
I tried uninstalling Apple Mobile Device, but unsuccessfully uninstalling it, I repaired it after being able to upgrade iTunes. Could that be an issue?

  • LaserJet M1319f MFP Installation issue on Windows 7

Dear HP support team and community members,
I'm currently trying to install HP LaserJet M1319f MFP connected by USB on Lenovo Q190 machine /Intel Core i3 processor/ running freshly installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit with Bulgarian language pack, all current updates, Microsoft Forefront Protection /I also tried to disable the Real-time protection/, UAC disabled, administrator account, IE 11, .NET Framework 4.5.1.
The priter was working correctly with Windows XP.
I downloaded the driver package from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=bg&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3547...
After the installation process reach the "Copying files to the hard drive" stage the installer return error Printer Software Installer stopped working.
I tried running with Administrator privileges and/or Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode, but the same error occurs.
I tried Microsoft Fix It software for install/uninstall drivers too,but with no luck either.
I cleaned the cashe and temporary files around 10-15 times.
Windows update is not helping with the drivers too.
I tried to extract the files from the installer and manually add the printer and got error that the installation was not successful and below it says The file was not found /if I recall it correctly/
After that I tried HP Print and Scan Doctor software, but it displays that there is no driver installed and redirecting me to the driver download page.
I tried the Driver Wizard software too, but it returns that this model is no supported.
I tried to change the windows startup to "Selective startup" with "Load startup items" unchecked and all non-microsoft services disabled, but with no success.
Under Safe mode the install won't complete because of the Print Spooler service not running, which is running normally otherwise.
The "ntprint.inf" file is present in the "Windows\inf" folder, the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Enviroments\Windows NT x86 has only Drivers and Print Processors subkeys and the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors has only Local Port, Microsoft Shared Fax monitor, Standard TCP/IP Port, USB monitor and WSD port subkeys.
The folders Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32X86 are empty.
I ran sfc /scannow in cmd with administrator privileges, but there was no integrity violations.
I tried to disable the IE component, but no luck either.
So now I’m out of any ideas how to connect that **bleep** thing… I hope that someone can help me with this issue.
Currently the devices without installed driver in the Device Manager are "Hewlett-PackardHP LaserJet M1319f MFP" /Hardware IDs USBPRINT\Hewlett-PackardHP_La28A1 and Hewlett-PackardHP_La28A1/ and HP Scan /Hardware IDs USB\VID_03F0&PID_5817&REV_0100&MI_00 and USB\VID_03F0&PID_5817&MI_00/
I forgot to mention that I tried all kind of variations with these solutions with and without printer plugged in.
Thank you very much in advance for any kind of guidelines.
    Best regards,
    Ivan

    Hello Gemini02,
First thank you for your assistance!
I uninstalled the IE 11 and install IE 10, but with no success related to the driver issues. I just want to mention to those who are trying to do the same that IE 11 should be removed from Add/Remove Windows components and from Installed Updates.
As for the solutions from your post:
Solution 2: The build in troubleshooting is reporting that no driver is installed (obviously...), but is not helping much with the installation. Windows updates are not much of a help too... The device manager is finding the device, but can't install the driver. More detailed information about the devices in the Device manager you can find in the end of my first post.
I'm posting some screenshots of the issue so that you can get clearer picture of the situation.
So basically I'm downloading the official drivers from the link in my first post. I'm sure that the drivers are the correct one as I downloaded them several time to clear the possibility of technical mistake.
But when I try to install them I get the following error:
The Event viewer information is as follows:

Solution 3 can't be applied to the current case as I can't install the software so I don't have what to uninstall/reinstall.
I cleared the cache and disabled all optionally installed software in msconfig as suggested, but the issue with the installer is still not resolved.
Solution 4 is not relevant as the device was working fine two days ago.
Solution 5 is difficult for implementation too as the location of the device is in some kind of rural area and it is vital for the implementation of the daily duties of the employee.
So after the failure with the solutions provided in the article I tried to extract the installer to use the drivers and manually install the printer using the file HP1319fp.ini  with the "... MFP" driver selected. I set it at new local port named USB. I'm posting the screenshot of the error i get in the end of installation:
After I press the OK button in gets in a loop by returning to the previous page.
I tried the same drivers with existing port USB001, but got the same result as with the new port.
Currently I will try to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in case that this is kind of windows update cache issue, but don't think so... I begin to think that this device driver is somehow not compatible with the computer hardware...
Thank you and I apologize for taking your time with such issues!
    Best regards,
    Ivan

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

Yes, I had found a similar solution also.  I'm running XP Pro, SP3.  I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair.  Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess.  Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes.  Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing.  I haven't begun to work on that.

    Repair youe Apple Software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install.
If you don't find ASU in All Programs, go to Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs.
