I just updated iTunes to 12.1.1.4 and now when i plug my iphone into my laptop it doesn't show up on iTunes. Any help would be great.

Hi trukrazi,
If you have followed every step in the previous article, including troubleshooting the security software running on your computer, then you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action

I plug my iphone into my macbook pro and it charges but my mac wont recognize it and sync in itunes. It also does not show up in finder. I know its not my iphone or the cord because I tried on my friends computer and it worked.

Are you running the current iTunes version (11.0.1)?

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not recognize iPhone, iPad after Dell BIOS update

I suspect the problems everyone is having are related to the BIOS.  I am running a Dell XPS i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 3.4 GHz with 24 GB RAM, 64 bit OS x64 based processor.  OS is Windows 8.1
I just updated my BIOS as suggested by Dell.  Now iTunes 11.1.4 will not recognize my iPhone or iPad.
My computer accesses the iPhone or iPad, but iTunes does not recognize them.
This was not a problem prior to updating BIOS.
Is there a fix or patch?
I have to sync my devices for work.
Please no baby-steps replies.  Have tried everything including removing devices from device manager and reconnecting to force driver update and try to force iTunes recognition.  None of that works.
    Thanks!

Here is the fix from Waldo-E3 elsewhere in this forum.
Like I said, no baby steps answers please!
    Kudos to Waldo-E3!
      RESOLVED...
Found these steps posted elsewhere by another and the solution worked for me...
    1. Go to Windows 8.1 Control Panel.
    2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
    3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
    4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top  When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
    5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
    6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
    7. Select "Update Driver".
    8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
    9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
    11. iTunes  11.1.4.62 should open automatically if your iphone is connected already

  • Itunes 11.1.4 doesn't recognize iphone

i am running Windows 8 (ugh) and can't get itunes 11.1.4 to see my iphone 4, IOS 7.0.4.  This has just recently started (my last backup thru itunes was 1/9/14.)  Also, the pc sees the phone as it appears in the devices & drivers section of my directory.  I can move pictures from my iphone, too.
When I plug the usb cord into my computer, i now get a message on my iphone about whether or not to trust this computer.  I say yes & then I can see it in the directorys.  This is new - it didn't use to do this.
I have repaired itunes from the control panel & have double checked the settings for Apple Mobile Device as per the discussion http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Well, I figured it out myself. I read the comments/notices that the USB 2.0 has to be in working condition to use it, and I switched cables around, but ended up with them in the same place. I know they work; I've used them before. I have a charging case that uses a micro USB cable to charge, which USED TO be able to connect my iPhone 5 to the Mac. Since the iOS 7 upgrade, the Mac doesn't see it. I de-cased the phone, used the lightning cable and the Mac saw the device.

  • Itunes wont recognize iphone

can anyone seriously help me. i tried EVERYTHIN. itunes wont open my iphone. only the fotos pop up and then its done, i tried everythin. its driving e crazy. its was fine till 3 days ago. i come back from a work trip and its all gone. i even did a full reset, and lost everything. im sooo upset now. can anyone help. thanks. i have latest itunes, reistalled, and did everythin else.

So i started having this same issue with my Powerbook G4 - setups a time with a Genius today and well after a reboot of the Mac and a reset of the iPhone everything was good BUT!!!!!!
make sure in itunes you have in the Summary of your iPhone, under Options - the check box next to auto sync -
The Genius asked do you use your computer to charge, NO then you really would only need it to sync, so there you go.
    works great now
    thanks

  • ITunes wont recognize iPhone 4

Downloaded the new iTunes (12.0.1.26) and try to sync my new music with iTunes but my iPhone 4 (iOS 7) wont even come up in itunes! It comes up on my computer (windows 8) and i can browse photos etc through that route. I have tried running itunes diagnostics and no luck. This has only started to happen with the new itunes update. After plugging it into my laptop, my iphone says do you want to trust this computer and i click trust and it then disconnects the iPhone and reconnects it itself.

    Hi ..
You may need to disable your anti virus software prior to clicking, "trust".

  • ITunes wont recognize iPhone 5

Alright, I've had this problem for a while now, and I'm at my wit's end. Hope someone can help me.
First of all, I'm running Windows 8.0 on a Lenovo, using iTunes 11.1.5, and an iPhone on iOS 7.0.6.
Problem is, when I plug my iPhone 5 into my computer, the computer recognizes the iPhone, but for some reason, iTunes doesn't realize it's there. On top of that, every time I plug in, my phone gives me the same "Trust this computer?" prompt, like it doesnt recognize the computer I told it to trust 5 seconds ago. A couple times, I got lucky and iTunes dignified me with a "An iPhone has been detected, but could not be identified properly." prompt. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile device driver, updating everything, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my iphone settings, but nothing works. Any ideas?

Having the exact same problem with my iPhone 4S.
This started happening right after upgrading iTunes to 11.1.5 - never encountered this issue before.
Tried doing the same thing you mentioned above with no luck at all.

  • Itunes wont recognize iphones 4s

I just got my iphone 4s through virgin mobile.  I have tried reinstalling itunes, updating my iphone, restarting it, restarting my computer and itunes still wont show my iphone.  I am not sure what else to do from here and not really getting any help from what I see on google.
    Thanks

This problem is probably down to one of three problems.
    1) Have you tried using a different cable? I know that it seems unlikely that you have a faulty cable but that could be the problem - do try a different cable.
    2) Have you tried using a different USB port when pluggin in your iphone cable? Sometimes, for various reasons, a particular USB port gets hung up and just plugging a device into a different port can solve the problem.
    3) If (1) or (2) don't solve the problem then it might be that the Apple Mobile Device Driver is not installed on your computer. You can find the device driver (along with the suggestions to solve this problem) using this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US . Number 5, gives you links to the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
Good luck with these and do report back.

  • Windows 8.1 itunes wont recognize iphone

Go to your device Manager by: Going the search in your charm bar and typing in Device Manager.
Expand Portable devices and or Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for your device.
Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and chooseUpdate Driver from the shortcut menu.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.
If that doesnt work you can go click this link and follow the guide from apples website
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US

go into the control panel (hover in the lower right corner to bring up the menu that leads you there)
    go to programs, add/remove programs
uninstall iTunes, apple mobile device service, apple application support
then go out and redownload and reinstall iTunes. Try again to sync
There seems to be something where an iTunes update doesn't write over all the drivers. The only way to m ake it write the right drivers is to delete the old ones and force iTunes to start over.
You won't lose any of your music.

  • Itunes wont recognize iphone 3G

OK, I have tried every solution on Apple's website with no luck. I am at the end of my rope.
I have 2 old iphone 3G's. I would like to use one of them as an ipod touch. The only problem is, when I plug either of them in, itunes freezes up for about 3 minutes and when it finally unfreezes, it doesnt display the iphone as a device. This happens with both iphone 3G's. I have an iphone4 also... when I plug it up, no problem, comes right up. The hangup only happens with the 3G.
Now, thinking this might be an issue with the iphone 3G, I tried it at work on my work computer. Both phones come up right away, no problem. Both my work computer and home computer are running Windows 7 with the latest version of iTunes.
The only thing I can figure is a software conflict, but I cant figure out what it is. I ran msconfig and disabled everything on startup, still the same problem. Ran the device connection toubleshooter in iTunes and it confirms I have a problem, but no solution fixes it.
This thing has me stumped... Someone please HELP!

3 days of persistence paid off. I found info on this website about how to update the driver for the iPhone and miraculously, it worked.
Just do a search for it. Also, not sure if it's related, but when the window popped up asking me what I wanted to do when I connected the iPhone, I didn't answer and left it open. I just went straight to iTunes instead.
    Good luck.

  • Itunes/computer wont recognize iphone 5s

I just recently bought a used iPhone 5s and tried to plug it into my mac book so I can sync the phone to my iTunes, but the phone is not even recognized when plugged in. I updated my iTunes and tried restarting the phone and computer to see if that would help, but still nothing. When I plug the phone in a message pops up, "This cable or accessory is not certified and my not work reliably with this iPhone" but it is the original cable the phone came with. The cable itself works while being plugged into the wall outlet. Any suggestions to fix this ?

    Hello there ChristinaGabri,
If your phone is still not recognized in iTunes because of this error message, I would take a look at this info from the following article:
If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    If you see an alert
When you plug in your device, you might see one of these alerts:
“This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone.”
“This accessory is not supported by this device.”
If you see one of these alerts, unplug your device try and these steps:
Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris, then reconnect the USB cable.
If you still see an alert, try a different USB cable or charger.
    Get more help
If your device still doesn't charge or you still see an alert after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
