ITunes 12.1.2 and iOS 8.3 artist bug

In my iTunes Library on my Mac (iTunes is updated to the newest version) it seems that everything is correct concerning the names of the artists, album artists, song titles, album titles and so on (on every album). I only have music purchased on the iTunes Store. But never the less on my iPhone some albums display wrong artist (song artist). I haven't tested this on every album, just a few.
One example is the album "John Wesley Harding" by Bob Dylan. All songs on this album is by Bob Dylan and he is therefore listed as both song artist and album artist on every song. However, when I play the album on my iPhone and iPad it says that the album artist is Bob Dylan but on every song it says that the song artist is Bob Dylan feat. Johnny Cash. This is weird since Johnny Cash is not featured on any of the songs on the album and everything is correctly labeled in iTunes on the Mac. I know I have one song on the "Essential Johnny Cash" album where one song, "Girl from the North Country", is labeled with Bob Dylan feat. Johnny Cash as song artist (but not album artist since this is Johnny Cash on this album). When I tried playing the "Essential Johnny Cash" album on my iPhone and iPad it says that every song has the song artist Johnny Cash with June Carter even though it (again) is correctly labeled on iTunes on my Mac.
This must be a bug since I haven't changed any data on these albums. And earlier they have shown the correct song artists on every song. Both albums have been on my Mac, iPhone and iPad since forever.
I tried to delete all music on my iPhone and iPad and sync again, but it didn't help. I'm really getting frustrated with Apple, iTunes and the Music app on the iPhone/iPad since there seems to always be some bugs. I remember the play count bug when iOS 8 first was released. Apple needs to put their efforts into improving their existing products and making them stable instead of using their time on dead end products like Apple Watch (but that's just my opinion).
Does anyone have a solution to my problem? I will of course report it to Apple via the support pages.

OMG I think I just solved my own problem.
I did not have my external disk plugged in which contains my Referenced Aperture image library.  I plugged in the disk and the iPhone sync proceeded with no errors.

    Hello surig84,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when syncing your iPad.  I recommend reviewing the following article specifically the section titled "Authorize using the correct account name."

Are you using the correct cables.  iPod cables look similar, but are not, as they are 1.1 USB cables, where your iPhone and iPad require a 2.0 USB cable.
Also, make sure you are not plugging your USB cable into a Hub or keyboard USB port, but one directly on the computer.
You may want to reset the USB ports, by resetting the SMC and PRAM

  • No audio streaming movies with iTunes 10.2.1 and iOS 4.3

I upgrade to iTunes 10.2.1 and to iOS 4.3 and now I can´t listen audio on my movies with 6 channels audio. With two channels (stereo) there is no problem. With multichannel I just can see the video, but can´t listen. The problem is with my iPad and my Apple TV. On my iMac it works fine, I can see and listen.
    Anybody Help ??

I have the similar problem with video. I can not stream movies to apple tv after ios 4.3 update that i used to stream before. The problem seems to be for some (but a lot) specific movies though. After going through all my videos i found a couple of videos that was able yo be streamed. Even with movies that can't be streamed the video loads (and even plays on fast forward but very slow without audio) but just pauses. It just loads opens and everything but just doesn't play.I don't have any problem with streaming audio from ipod or etc. I can still stream video from youtube as well but just can't do it from my itunes.
Just to be specific, i have the issue with my ipad as well. The movies that i can stream to atv can be streamed to ipad as well (from my pc windows) but for other movies neither my atv nor ipad can play. A clear **** up by the developers. Just can't understand how they can release without even checking possible flaws.

  • Can't sync any artwork with iTunes 11.1.3 and iOS 6.1 iPhone 4s

I have seen something of similar topic, but not to my exact situation.
Like the title says, I have recently taken the plunge and upgraded to Mavericks which required an iTunes update (11.1.3) on my Mid2010 Macbook Pro. I have not upgraded my iPhone 4s to iOS 7 nor do I want to. I have an immaculately kept music collection that had all of the correct album artwork and was visible in iTunes. Upon upgrading iTunes, music was syncing to my phone but none of the artwork was making its way to the phone. So I figured to completely remove the music and redo a full music sync but now NO music has the correct artwork and the artwork either appears blank or has the completely wrong artwork. So then I tried resetting all of the settings on the iPhone but that has also had no effect on the music artwork syncing.
Is this a known issue in iTunes 11.1.3 specific to iOS6.1? And in order to get artwork will I have to bite the bullet and upgrade to iOS7? Also is there a way to rebuild iTunes or iPhone artwork caches?
Any help or redirection to another thread is appreciated.

I forgot to say the problem iTunes tells me is:
iPhone can't be synchronised because it can't be written to or read from.
    Or something like that..

  • ITunes 10.6.3 and iOS 6.0

I have an older Power Mac G4 Quicksilver which, I just came to find out, will not be able to run iTunes 10.7. Looks like I'm stuck with 10.6.3 until I buy a new computer. However, I have a new 4th generation iPod touch which, from what I understand, will be able to run iOS 6 when it comes out.
What will happen if I update that iPod to iOS 6 while the computer to which it syncs is running iTunes 10.6.3?
Will I lose syncing capability with the G4 and have to rely exclusively on iCloud?
    Thanks.
(Going to post this same question in the iPod forum for good measure.)

Did you do an iCloud backup before installing iOS 6? Hopefully you did so you can restore your iPhone to the state it was in just before running the update. If note, your restore will be from the most recent iCloud backup you have on file with your Apple I.D.
    Here are some helpful links:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859
    http://www.imore.com/restore-iphone-ipad-icloud-backup
The restore process can take several hours depending on how many apps you have on your phone. The process, however, is quite simple. It's a little disconcerting the first time you do it (will I really be able to recover all my data?), but don't worry – Apple has this pretty well under control. I've restored my iPad and iPod touch a couple times each and it works like a charm.

  • ITunes 11.1.2 and iOS 7.0.3 Smart Playlists not working

I am unable to get a smart playlist of mine to update on my iPhone 4s. The smart playlist is updated on my iMac and the items in it are copied across to my 4s but the playlist on my 4s is not getting updated. This just started 2 days ago. When I sync the same smart playlist to an old iPod Touch 3g running iOS 4.3.3 it is copied across fine and all works. The items in the playlist are all podcasts and up to a couple of days ago were copying across fine (and the older items are still there in the playlist on my 4s).

    Hello gortdromagh,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when syncing your playlist to your iPhone.  For an issue like this, I recommend resyncing the music to your iPhone.
If you are syncing automatically, resync content to the iPhone by unchecking "Sync Music" and click "Apply,"  then check "Sync Music" and click "Apply" again.
You can find the syncing steps in the following article:

  • How do I change the name of of my iPad in iTunes 11.0.1 and iOS 6.1?

I am trying to rename my iPad.  It automatically named it the same as my iMac and I would like a different name.  All the threads give information on how to do it in older versions of iTunes.  Nothing listed for the new iTunes
    Any Help out there?

You can enable the sidebar in iTunes 11 by going to View>Show Sidebar in the menu at the top of the screen. The iPad will appear under the devices heading and you can click on it to highlight it and then rename it.
You can rename it on the iPad as well in Settings>General>About>Name.

  • IOS 7 and iOS 7.02 Siri bug and issues

on the first version of iOS 7 and the most recent update (iOS 7.02) siri refers to me as tiffany every so often but is now more frequent than before. And before iOS 7 came out, siri was much better in general, for it will not recognize speech as easily as before. But to past and still current siri problems. my favorite thing to do with siri is show people how it shows you were to get rid of a dead body. But it simply replies "hmmm... i used to know the answer to that." and siri after iOS 7 will no longer tell you the scores of major sporting events such as college or nfl football.

Restore your iPhone in iTunes from your backup. I'm not having any of those issues...well, except for the dead body one.

  • ITunes 10 and iOS 4.2: NO CHOICE???

    Really?
Must I upgrade to iTunes 10 to use iOS 4.2?
    iTunes 10 is loathsome.
It won't be possible to sync my iPad with iTunes 9.2.1 and upgrade to iOS 4.2?
Am I really being given a choice between iTunes 9.2.1 and iOS 4.2?

I think enough has already been written on this and other forums about iTunes 10, so check out the negative feedback there.
    I would hope iTunes 10.1 addresses at least some of the issues. Personally, with 10;
Album art sizing, under Artist, is no longer freeform. It is restricted to tiny, insignificant, and stupid.
Album and Artist are listed next to, rather than under, the album art in Artist view. A pointless change which wastes so much horizontal space.
The traffic lights are vertical, rather than horizontal as they are in every other application. Why, I know not!
The Capacity bar for external devices is all one colour, a rather sickly blue puse, rather than being colour-coded by media, now totally lacking in functionality and pretty much pointless.
ALL the colour and life has been sucked out of iTunes 10.
Ping cannot be removed from the sidebar.
The list goes on and on....
But, it looks like I am going to have to grit my teeth and upgrade, though I would hardly call 10 an 'up' grade in any other sense than it's the latest.
Why Oh Why Apple require a visually and functionally awful iTunes 10 to upgrade to a beautifully functional iOS 4.2 is beyond me.
After 6 years as an Apple user, I am beginning to feel more and more like I did with PCs before I switched: namely that I am being told what to do by the operating system, rather than telling my computer what to do and it does it.
I have also come to learn a lot about Apple users during these 6 years, primarily that you will upgrade, moan for a bit, then almost instantly start espousing the virtues of the latest upgrade (as though Jobs himself was lining your pockets rather than vice versa) and forget all the great stuff you lost for, well, in the case of iTunes 10, for what exactly?
Back at you then: What ISN'T loathsome?

  • PLEASE HELP -- iTunes Match - multiple problems, desktop and iOS

I've been going round and around with this issue for the past couple days (yes, I've been dedicating that much time to it) and finally went to the Genius Bar today to get help and even they were stumped.  Hoping someone here can shed some light on the situation. Next stop, express lane for support.
    Broad Problem:
I paid for iTunes Match around 6 months ago and activated it on my desktop.     Since then, I've had nothing but problems across my desktop and 4 seperate iOS devices (3 iPhone 4's, and an iPad 3).  The basic sympton on the desktop is that iTunes itself frequently freezes (Option-Command-Esc reveals "Application Not Responding") and requires a force quit.   As soon as I turn OFF iTunes Match, this symptom goes away. I can leave iTunes open for hours without any problems.  As soon as I turn it back ON, then the problem comes back -- sometimes iTunes won't launch at all (crashes before bringing the UI up), and other times it's the same freeze that requires a force-quite.  Quite frustrating.
On the iOS side of things, the situation isn't any better.   When I toggle on iTunes Match and then enable "Show All Music" in the Preferences of the iPhone, then I get any one of the two following scenarios:
    A) The Music App simply won't load.  It tries, goes to white, and crashes back to the home screen of my iPhone.
    B) If I'm lucky, the Music app will launch and I can see my entire library in the cloud as intended.  The problems start though when I go to actually download/play songs from the cloud.  Typically, the songs will start playing but I will eventually get an error message that alerts me that there was "Problem Downloading Track".  When I then go into the Download Que of the iTunes Store (again, still on the iPhone), it shows the entire list of songs that I had wanted to download and shows them at various stages of download completion -- even if they have actually completely played on the phone itself.   Sometimes they will time out and display the "problem downloading track/try again" status, and other times the progress bar sits at about 99% with a status of "Processing".
What's particularly strange about scenario B is that I've tried to download a variety of songs to different devices -- my wifes iPhone 4, my iPhone 4, an iPad, and a iPhone 4S that the person at the Genius Bar had me use as a tester.   When I tried the iPhone 4S at the genius bar, I was amazed at how fast it downloaded to the device.  This had the genius bar guy wondering if it was a problem with my phone itself or with the iPhone 4 in particular.   Unfortunately he didn't have a spare iPhone 4 to test with so I had to go home and test with my wife's iPhone 4.  Again, she had the same problem.   The status bar hangs at about 99% showing a status of "processing", even though I have completely listened to the track within the Music App.  The same scenario happens on the iPad as well.
Okay, if you're with me so far:  here's where things start to get REALLY strange....
On MY iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, the only fixable solution for me has been to go into Preferences and toggle OFF iTunes Match, completely shut down the phone, restart the phone, and then launch the Music App, at which point I can see the music that has loaded to my phone.    The kicker here is that even though I've turned iTunes Match OFF and completely powered down my phone, when I go into the Music app I can ALSO see my ENTIRE iTunes Match library, completely with cloud status icons.   It's as though I never turned off iTunes Match at all.  In fact, I had to triple check my own preferences to verify that it was turned OFF, which it sure enough is.   I can even go and attempt to download songs, with various levels of success based on the problems above.
Now, on my WIFE's iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, I tried the same process in tandem with the phones side by side as I did the test -- turn iTunes Match OFF in Preferences, power down the phone, power up the phone, and launch the Music app.    However, on her phone, when this happens the Music App shows what is to be expected -- only the music that is on the phone itself.
Okay, there's a lot to digest here, but here's the synopsis:  my phone and my wifes phones are behaving differently when displaying iTunes Match, with my phone appearing to completely disregard the status of the On/Off Toggle within Preferences-->Music, and my wifes phone behaving as it should, at least in terms of what it displays.   The download problems are present on each device and the iPad is also behaving like my wifes phone.
Given all of these inconsistencies and irregularities across devices and platforms -- MacBook Pro running Lion, separate iPhone 4's each running iOS 5.1.1, an iPad running iOS 5.1.1. and an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 - my suspicion is that:
    A) I've got a corrupt iTunes library file residing in the cloud
    or
    B) iTunes Match is having a hard time reconciling my Apple ID across so many devices (possibly complicated by issue A)
The bottom line is that I have paid for iTunes Match and have never been able to use it successfully or with any predictability.
I'm wondering if anyone else has any symptoms that match any of this and/or have come across a corrupted file in the cloud and, if so, how to remedy the situation.  Since it's in the cloud, I can't do anything about.  I can't even see it.  Most troubling.
    Note:
When I went to the Genius Bar, they had me do a complete restore of the phone (not from backup) to elminate any corrupt files within the phone itself.  Even that didn't solve the problem.   That's when he brought out the 4S phone to test on and we were both so shocked at how blazingly fast the songs downloaded, error-free.  That phone was able to download 8 songs completely before one song downloaded to my phone sitting right next to it.  Both on the same Apple Store network and both downloading the exact same tracks using my Apple ID and login.   While it's tempting to say that the 4S is faster than the 4, I don't think it's 8 times faster with download speeds over WiFi.   However, even if the speed/completion discrepancy is because the 4S is superior, it doesn't explain the mind-boggling disparity between my wife's phone and my phone -- both iPhone 4's and both running the same iOS.   Throw in the oddity of iTunes on Lion crashing whenever iTunes Match is on and this all seems to point to some corruption in the cloud that perhaps the 4S device is able to bypass...for whatever reason.
    Please help.  This is nuts.

Exactly same problem - any ideas - I get error message 14
