ITunes 12.1 64 bit - Windows 8.1 - Not recognizing your iDevice fix

The issue that causes iTunes to not see your device is a simple driver issue.
Step 1:
Press the key combination [Windows-Logo]+[R] and type the following command:
devmgmt.msc  and then confirm by pressing [Enter]
Step 2:
Expand "Portable Devices"
Step 3:
Right Click on "Apple iDevice" and choose "Update Driver"
Step 4:
Select "Browse my computer driver software"
Step 5:
Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers" then click "Next"
Step 6:
Watch the magic happen!
To understand the issue, iTunes former location of drivers where "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers"

This did not work for my device. I have an iPad 2 and running window 8. Tried uninstalling iTunes and tried a different cable.  It did sync but then iTunes asked to update. So I updated (stupid me). Now iTunes will nor recognize device. Deactivated all computers associated with device too. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Itunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Iphone 4S not recognized in Windows and Itunes

I recently installed itunes 11.1.4 on my Windows 7 (64) laptop computer and my iphone 4S was no longer recognized in Windows or itunes. Previous versions of itunes had worked with no problems with this combination. I completely uninstalled itunes, apple software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour and apple application support and restarted the computer. When I attached the iphone, it was recognized by Windows. I reinstalled itunes only to find the iphone was no longer recognized in Windows or itunes again. When viewing the device in Device Manager, I discovered the yellow exclamation mark and proceeded to attempt to update the driver. Windows reported that it "cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." Repeated the uninstall and reinstall process with a new download of the itunes installer which produced the same result. Need help resolving this problem because I need to sync data on phone with data on computer.

    Hello JHHamlin,
Go through the section 5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed from the link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Go through the above link in the sections which I am mentioning below and see if it fixes your issue.
    > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
    * Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Driver
    * In the Device Manager window, right-click Universal Serial Bus controllers and choose Scan for hardware changes from the shortcut menu.
    * Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver> Browse my computer for driver software> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer> Click the Have Disk button.
    * Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    * Double-click the "usbaapl" file
    * Click Open in the Have Disk window. Then, click Next and then Click Finish. Windows will install the driver.

    Thanks

    Hi,
With so many brands of webcams and cameras available, there are many reasons why something might not work. Each brand is different, so it's a good idea to check the manufacture's website for user guides and troubleshooting help.
I checked Windows Compatibility Center, found Logitech C270 Webcam is compatible with Windows 8.1. However, some people still had problem with Windows 8.1.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=Logitech%20C270%20Webcam&vendor=Logitech&Locale=1033%2C2057%2C3081%2C4105%2C16393&ModelOrVersion=V-U0018&BreadCrumbPath=Logitech%20C270&LastSearchTerm=Logitech%2BC270&Type=Hardware&tempOsid=Windows%208.1
If you have any problem with Webcam in Windows 8.1. You can provide as more as details about your problem, then we can work together to resolve this problem.

  • I have 32 bit iTunes on a 64 bit Windows. Can't install 64 bit because the 32 bit will not uninstall (or run).

I have 32 bit itunes on a 64 bit Windows. Can't install 64 bit itunes because the 32 bit willl not uninstall.

    Excellent news.
That one can sometimes hit people if they've used the PC Mover utility to transfer a 32-bit iTunes program onto a 64-bit system. Similar issues can arise if a 32-bit Bonjour or 32-bit AMDS get transfered across to a 64-bit system by PC Mover, so it might pay to keep a weather eye out for that (if you've used PC Mover).

I'm downloading iTunes onto a 64-bit Windows 7 platform. I am getting the message 'The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed'. What causes this?

You can go through the Microsoft Support kb as there can be some issue with the Windows Installer Service settings or registry keys. Go through the below Link and check the Resolution tab in it. But be careful when working with system Registries.

iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install.  Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2.  Any Thoughts?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

  • With Windows 7 Home Premium, whenever I start iTunes, I get a message that colors have been reverted to Windows Basic because iTunes won't support my Windows Aero configuration.  Is there a fix for the incompatibility?

With Windows 7 Home Premium, whenever I start iTunes, I get a message that colors have been reverted to Windows Basic because iTunes won't support my Windows Aero configuration.  Is there a fix for the incompatibility?  I don't mind the color changes, but I'm having an external speaker problem that could be related to the incompatibility (at random times--usually several hours after start-up, my external speakers--connected via my Samsung Central Station's wireless docking station and computer-installed dongle--shut off and won't play until I restart.  I've investigated other options, but iTunes may be the problem.)  Thanks.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • Anyone have advice on installing the recent update to Itunes on a 64 bit Windows 7 PC?  I can download it, but can't run it.  I have already uninstalled the prior version.  Thanks.

Anyone have advice on how to install the recent Itunes update on a 64 bit Windows 7 PC?  I've downloaded the update, uninstalled the prior version, but no luck.  Thanks.

I'm guessing - if you've uninstalled the previous version, then surely there's nothing left to "update", is there?
Can you undo the "uninstallation" procedure? If not, you will have to download iTunes again and install it as a new installation.

  • Why can't I install iTunes on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop?

When I go to the installation page and input my email address, the full page doesn't seem to load, but then I click on what I assume is the "download" button (though can't really tell because the pictures don't load properly) and nothing happens.  After a minute or so it just goes back to the iTunes page and if I click download it all just happens again.
    What am I missing?

Thanks, I found the link to the direct installer and installed it.  But when I tried to run iTunes after installation an error message occurred:  "Apple Application Support was not found.  Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTines, then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Same thing happened when I uninstalled and re-installed.
Can anybody assist with fixing this?

  • Downloading 64-bit Windows JRE-"64-bit Windows offline download" not found

I am trying to download and install the latest JRE for Windows 2008 R2 Server (x64).
When I go to Java's manual download page:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
it does not appear to distinguish between 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64).
    The FAQ on this page:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml
    says this:
You can manually update Java on 64-bit Windows by running the latest Java 64-bit offline installer
Follow these instructions for installing 64-bit Java on your system.
Choose the 64-bit Windows offline download. The File Download dialog box appears.
So - where is the "latest Java 64-bit offline installer"?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Java.com will not provide the 64bit JRE if the visitor is not using a 64bit browser. Windows IE on Vista/Win7 64bit OS's defaults to 32bit IE. If one downloads the 64bit installer, installs and then launches the 32bit IE, there will not be a plugin. Users then gets very confused.
Use a 64bit browser, java.com will offer the 64bit JRE.

  • Windows 7 iphone not recognized

    Hello,
I've already tried everything recommended by Apple - so now I rely on you!  I'm running Windows 7. I've never had a problem before with my system reconginizing when I plug in my phone and it showing up in Itunes.  Until now.  When I plut the phone in now nothing happens at all. It doesnt even charge, or show up under my computer or devices.  I can plug in my shuffle and it works perfectly.
I am at a loss and frustrated. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the newest itunes. I've changed the startup configuration to look for any conflicts with 3rd party software, I've restarted apple mobile device support. I've rebooted multiple times.  I'm running Norton security but that doesnt seem to be the problem.
My phone is old, a 3G. And the phone software had not been updated for awhile. I was actually connecting to do an update when I found out I could not connect.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Just a thought: get a magnifying glass and look carefully at the connector slot on your iPhone.  I was having the wierdest connection issues (iTunes was working, but other Windows 7 software -- like Picasa -- wouldn't fully recognize the iPhone).
After reading a ton of forums and messing with the driver and even tinkering with my REGISTRY for heaven's sake, I got desperate and happened to look closely at my iPhone and saw a teensy little bit of thread from my 3-year-old iPhone case trailing into the connector jack and, apparently, interrrupting one of those zillions of connections that was important to windows (but, strangely, not critical for iTunes).
    Also, try a different cable.
