ITunes 12.1 not recognizing iPod Touch 5

I just installed IOS 8.1.3 and iTunes 12.1. Ever since then, my iPod will not sync to iTunes. My computer will recognize an apple device, but when I look in my iTunes nothing is connected. I tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, restarting my computer and iPod and everything else that has been suggested. I've Determined that it is my iTunes that is the problem. I plugged in my iPod to my friends laptop which has iTunes 10 and i could transfer music perfectly. Same cord, same iPod. But if i try to do it with on my computer with iTunes 12.1 it does no recognize my iPod. I've tried everything that has been suggested, so if anyone knows if they are going to fix itunes 12.1 or what can i do? (Don't send me to any links telling me to refresh anything or uninstall/re install because nothing works)

  • Itunes sudenly will not sync Ipod touch

I had my ipod touch all synced up fine with itunes. I bought an ipad and synced it to the same itunes. I plugged my ipod touch into charge and left it. It automatically opens itunes, no big deal. Well itunes erased everything on my ipod touch and now will not do anything when I plug my ipod in. It doesn't even know it's there. My computer said "does not recognize device in USB port blah blah blah, installing device software." And itunes still doesn't recognize ipod touch. What the **** did that ipad do to my computer???

  • 11.1.4.62 itunes update not recognizing ipod touch

Please Help.  Did the update to Windows 8.1 yesterday and now iTunes does not recognize my iPod(s) etc.  I looked in Windows and device shows up but now in iTunes.  I downloaded the new iTunes and reinstalled (Repair) and that did not help.  Anyone have any suggestions at all?

See section 5 of TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • USB Device Not Recognized (IPod Touch 5g) (Win 7 64 Bit)

I have seen many threads for this but nothing that they suggest has fixed this for me.
    http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u45/JediJake2429/Capture_zps9d26bcea.png
    I have an I touch 5g Model MD724LL/A, IOS 7.1.1
I have two Win 7 64 Bit Machines.
    I tried two cables,
    I tried two computers,
    I have restored it,
I have put it into recovery mode,
I have uninstalled all apple software, and removed all traces from the registry,
I have done a fresh install of Itunes on the laptop which had never had it on there before,
I have ran the windows troubleshooter, and the Microsoft fix it troubleshooter,
I have removed all traces of the ipod driver and tried updating,
I have updated the driver from the itunes folder on my pc,
I have tried everything listed here: My iTouch 5th generation is not recognised by my computer. why?
I have tried everything listed here: Windows 7 blocks my iPod Touch
I have tried everything listed here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/ipod-touch-5 th-generation-not-recognized/85dac803-680e-4ce8-842c-9f58b0df7f7f
My wife even took it to the apple store today and they told me that it is a windows 7 issue. they basically would not do anything for her.
Funny thing is, after trying everything that was suggested to me online, by those at the apple store, and using my own PC knowledge as I also work in IT, it still does not recognize the driver. So it seems to me that Apple need to get their drivers updated to be compatible.
I currently have a $400 piece of crap Ipod that I cannot use because apple cannot make a driver that works.
Anybody that has anything new to suggest, be my guest.

    Illaass,
It works connected to another apple device. I have TWO windows 7 64 Bit Machines both with widely different configurations, and they both have the same exact issue. This IS a driver issue, that much I agree with apple on. However its not a WINDOWS issue. APPLE makes the driver that is installed with Itunes. That Driver does not work. (As a side note, Apple really should get their head out of their A$$ and come up with better solutions vs telling their customers to restore their windows config. That's straight up BS.)
    JEM24,
I have done that. I have also taken a PC that had never had any apple software on it and installed itunes on that. Tested, same result.

  • Other computer not recognizing Ipod touch

I gave my ipod touch 4th generation to my brother.  I reset it before I gave it to him but his computer doesn't recognize the ipod and neither does my dads computer.  My brother has a macbook and my dad has a mac desktop.  What could be causing this?  How do I fix it?

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
You should have iTunes version 10.7 or later on the iPod and that requires OSX 10.6.8.
Hower, you shuld be able to sync (but not restore) the 4G with OSX 10.5.8 if you have iTunes 10.6.3
    iTunes 10.6.3

  • TS1538 Computer not recognizing iPod Touch

My computer or iTunes is not recognizing my iPod Touch but is recognizing another iPod touch.

I had similar issue - on Win7 - (not sure what your Operating System is) and solved with this approach:
deleting the "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under 'USB Controllers' in 'Device Manager'
    Plugging device back in
And allowing internet search for drivers - this time device has been discovered and able to show in iTunes

  • Computer not recognizing ipod touch 1 generation

My Mac is not recognizing my 1st gen iPod Touch. I just updated to Snow Lepard, finally... Now it will not recognize the iPod. Checked for updates and downloaded those for 30 minutes, not any better. Any ideas?

Let me see if I can remember...
Hold down the Home button and then hold down the power button to power it down.
Hold down the Home button while connecting the iPod to the computer via the USB cord.
It should start up and show the iTunes icon and a picture of a USB plug on the screen. Release the Home button. At this stage iTunes opened up and said that it detected an iPod in the process of restoring. Click Restore (or Continue, or whatever it was). I was told I needed a software update, so I accepted that. It took about six minutes to download on my cable internet access. When the new software was installed iTunes tried to restore the iPod, but it was taking forever. After several minutes (five?) I got an error. I clicked OK and, leaving the iPod connected, restarted the computer.
When the computer restarted iTunes started automatically and detected the iPod. I clicked Restore again, and this time the restoration was successful. When it was done, it began synching the iPod (another long process, since I keep over 3,000 tracks on it).
I'm going from memory, so you may want to search for specific instructions on restoring an iPod Touch; but I'm pretty sure that was the sequence of events.
    Good luck!

  • ITunes 9 does not recognize iPod Touch (1st Gen); Vista does -- as a ...

...Still Digital Camera, complete with a DCIM folder.
Upon USB hookup, Vista popups up a new window with the directory My Computer\Apple iPod\ , with the sub-directories of Internal Storage\DCIM. Free space and Used space are both 0 bytes.
Additionally, the attempt to reset the iPod failed, as Vista claims that recovery mode for the iPod is not supported.

It says 9.1.1(11) -- and the update check says it's there are no updates for me.
Looking through the drivers that are associated with the iPod, I get:
    \system32\drivers\WpdMtpDr.dll
    \system32\drivers\WpdUSB.dll
    \system32\drivers\WUDFRd.sys
    \system32\WpdConns.dll
    \system32\WpdMtp.dll
    \system32\WpdMtpUS.dll
    No USBaApl.sys at all.
An attempt to auto-update the driver and by manually pointing to the \system32\drivers\ directory yields:
Best driver already installed -- Digital Still Camera
Without an .inf file to easily associate to the iPod, it's hard to choose which of the device drivers to force the usbaaple.sys to the iPod -- I can't choose .sys files, only .infs.
    Of the device types:
    (Standard MTP-Compliant Device)
    --Kodak DC4800 Zoom Digital Camera
    --Kodak DC4800 Zoom Digital Camera
    --Kodak Digital Camera
    --Kodak Digital Camera
    --MTP Device Version: 6.0.6000.16386 [6/21/2006]
    --MTP Device Version: 6.0.6000.18000 [6/21/2006]
    (Standard MTP-compliant devices)
--Digital Still Camera *What Vista thinks the iPod is
    --Digital Still Camera
    --MTP Device
    --MTP Device
    --MTP IP Device
    --MTP IP Device
    (Standard Windows Mobile device)
    --Windows Mobile device
    (WPD file system device)
    --Microsoft WPD FileSystem Volume Driver
Outside of the Kodak drivers, I've no idea which one would be best suited for the iPod, and I suspect none of them will work. I should note, the iTunes did recognize the iPod at some point. Thankfully, I only sync'ed to the iPod instead of maintaining a portion of my library on the iPod Touch (I lost some tracks on an iPod Mini when slipped off the jack and hit the ground, crashing the hard drive); I don't have any photos or videos on it.

  • Windows 7 not recognizing iPod Touch

I just bought a new Windows 7 Home Premium laptop and I'm trying to connect my iPod Touch to it to put my music on my new laptop (my old computer crashed with all the music from my iPod plus more, and most of it wasn't otherwise stored), but when I plug in the iPod Touch to the computer, Windows 7 does not show it as connected. iTunes shows it is connected and it charges just fine, though.
    So I guess I have 2 questions:
    1. How do I get Windows 7 to recognize the iPod Touch?
    2. Is there a way to transfer the music from my iPod BACK to my computer without screwing up my iPod and risk losing my music?

    1. Apple Mobile Device Services controls communication with the iPod/iPhone. See this article for help on troubleshooting the problem: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
    2. There are multiple programs that can do this. However, Pod to PC is freeware and is highly regarded. Google it.

  • Computer not recognizing iPod  touch

This is the second time I've run into this problem. I have a 2nd generation iPod touch 16GB. I've had it for about three months so it's relatively new. I'm trying to connect it to my mac and when I plug it in, my touch will turn on and show that it's syncing and on my computer my itunes will open. But, it hasn't been doing that. I just updated my itunes to the newest version and bought a few new albums and when I tried to load the songs onto my touch, my touch won't even connect to my computer. This is the second time that this has happened to me. I got a iPod touch in the spring and in july this problem started happening so I returned it because the 90 days hadn't passed yet. And now the same thing is happening again. 90 days have passed since I've had this iPod so I can't return it. I'm not sure what's wrong or how to go about fixing it.

Let me see if I can remember...
Hold down the Home button and then hold down the power button to power it down.
Hold down the Home button while connecting the iPod to the computer via the USB cord.

  • Artwork is shown in iTunes window, but not on iPod Touch

All of my albums' artwork are showing up in the iTunes window, but here in the last few days, some have disappeared from my iPod Touch and some are showing the wrong album cover (wrong artist and all) even though the artist and album name are correct in the info for the song. I have tried syncing it a number of times an it hasn't helped. Can anyone help??

You're probably going to have to restore it to factory settings and sync it again.
There used to be an option not to sync artwork that you could toggle off and on to fix it, but that has been removed.
