ITunes 12, 10.8.5: COMPLETE offline iPhone Sync possible?

Hi guys, has anyone iTunes 12 running on 10.8.5 not using iCloud? Is the complete iPhone Sync (including safari bookmarks) still offline possible? Any other problems? Thanks for your answers! Kind regards Tom

I'm facing the same issue. The option to sync notes and bookmarks with your computer is completely missing in iTunes 12.   Apple really needs to re-add that feature.
iCloud merges bookmarks across all devices which I hate. For security reason, I also don't upload private information on the cloud.
I'm going to really think twice before anymore iTunes or Apple OS upgrades going forward possibly researching other computer and device options. I'm really sick of companies pushing their own agenda on paying customers.

  • Transfer iTunes from one PC to another for iPhone Sync

Hi, my PC (WinXP iTunes 9.02) crashed an I have a new one. I´ve access to the old harddisk and I want to transfer the complete iTunes libraries an d Sync-Infos to the new PC (Win7 iTunes 9.2) in order to have my iPhone synced again without loosing any data from the iPhone. What is the preffered way to transfer to data from one PC to another without getting the iPhone cleared ? Is there an official manual available for transferring iTunes ? It is very important for me not to loose data on the iPhone. Thanks very much for your help.

Type "move itunes library" into the Google search bar.

  • Purchased itunes movies not playing in completion on iphone

I have a purchased movie from itunes and it will not play from start to end without being interrupted and defaulting back to the the video screen.
Apple support had me to this
    1. Turn off iphone completlely and reboot. Load up movie, which failed to run properly.
    next tried...
    2. Remove movie from itunes and reload and resync. Failed again to work properly.
    3. The apple supports next suggestion is to find someone that has an iphone and get them to load up a movie from my computer. This I have not done.
I just do not understand why this movie plays fine in itunes but crashes on the iphone.

correct me if i am wrong, but you do not get that option to convert movie to ipod/iphone, just to acc that i recall.

  • ITune's info tab incorrectly states my iPhone syncs with mobileme

I recently purchased a macbook, and whilst I was successful in transferring my music files to my new mac, I am afraid that my calenders and contacts are not currently backed up somewhere.
My iTunes program states (incorrectly) that my contacts and calender information is sync'ed over the air with MobileMe and that this information can be changed from my iPhone.
Whilst I had a MobileMe account in the past, I have since cancelled this. I also do not have a MobileMe account listed on my iPhone.
Ideally the solution that I would like is: To transfer my contact information and calender information currently on my iPhone to my Mac, and thereafter for these two to be kept in sync.
    Is this possible?

    Hello ygdy,
    Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
There are a few things you can try. First is powering off the iPhone (not just putting it to sleep).
You can reset sync history on the Mac:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
You might also be able to resolve the issue by force quitting the mail application on the iPhone by opening mail and then holding down the home button until the iPhone screen resets to the home page (this may take 10-15 seconds).
Last, the issue may be resolved by removing all mail accounts from Mail, Contacts and calendars (after noting the settings for each email account) and then syncing.
    Take care,
    Charles H.

  • ITunes 7.7.1 has completely hosed my sync and backups!

Other than the well know 3G and stability issues, my iPhone 3G has been behaving well since I got it two weeks ago (I did a restore as soon as I got it home).
But with the iTunes 7.7.1 release, the sync and backup process are hosed.
    Backups
-Take 30 minutes or more every **** sync.
-On the Edit/Prefs/Syncing tab, the backup file listed is "Unknown", and the time stamp is 12/31/2000 7:00pm.
    Syncing
-If I resync (say, to install a downloaded application update), the iPhone crashes out of the sync back to the home screen while iTunes continues to think the iPhone is syncing. And I can't get the iPhone to resync unless I kill iTunes (which won't stop even after I tell it to quit even though it's syncing [it's not, the iPhone isn't even in the cradle at that point]); sometimes iTunes won't die without killing it from the Windows Task Manager.
Moral - if your iPhone and iTunes are getting along, *DO NOT* install 7.7.1 - things can only get worse.

  • Itunes content on 2 different pc's - iphone syncing worry

Hi, my music/video etc. are on laptop itunes in London. Home in Ireland for weekend and want to take a playlist off home pc itunes onto iphone. Ticked 'manually manage music' but when I click 'sync' under music tab it says I'll lose all existing content. Is there an easy way to solve? Thanks!

  • Local iPhone Sync Possible in 10.10 Yosemite, or iCloud Sync only?

With OS X 10.10 Yosemite and iOS 8.x, is there any way to sync contacts (and preferably calendar & notes) locally between Mac & iPhone, using my USB-to-lightning cable, NOT using iCloud? (As in olden days of 10.7?) I simply can't find a way, and none of the IT professionals at the local university know, either.
I upgraded from 10.7 -> 10.10, so missed the big furor when Apple omitted local sync in Mavericks 10.9. I read that Apple brought back local sync in a later version of Mavericks due to the backlash. But I can't even find a discussion about how to (or even if you can) sync locally with 10.10 Yosemite.

An interm report. First off, a huge thanks to Eric, Mudge, & Glenn! Second, descriptors for anyone searching:
How to Remove Your Contacts from iCloud (but Keep Them on Your Mac & iPhone)
aka, “How to Unfriend iCloud for Contacts.”
Caveat: I bungled my way through this process. (Several times.) I’m certain some of the steps I took were unnecessary; this is not a clean instruction set. Since there’s so little info out there at this time, however, I will relay what I did to finally get my contacts list OFF iCloud but ON my Mac and ON my iPhone (and still able to use other iCloud services such as Notes, etc.). Mac Mini running Yosemite 10.10.2, iPhone running iOS 8.1.3.
    On Macintosh.
    Backup Contacts. (.abbu file)
Contacts > Preferences > Accounts > Uncheck “Enable Account”
    (Not sure this accomplishes anything.)
Sys Prefs > iCloud > Uncheck Contacts.
(Not sure this accomplishes anything either.)
Sys Prefs > iCloud > Sign out of iCloud.
    (This accomplishes things!)
When given options for contacts/calendar data, choose
    “Delete from Macintosh.”
Open contacts/calendar/notes/reminders on Mac, all empty.
Open Contacts > Preferences > Accounts > there are no accounts.
    iPhone.
    Settings > iCloud.
Turn off Contacts, & choose Keep on My iPhone.
(At least this part is easy.)
    iCloud via Webpage:
    Go to Contacts.
    Delete them in bunches.
    (Also straightforward.)
    On Macintosh again.
Contacts > File > Import > Replace All. (Import the backup you just made.)
Contacts is (sort of) repopulated with your backup.
Problem: They’re imported under a contacts group called iCloud, and have a nasty habit of magically disappearing after a bit. To fix that:
Contacts > View > Show Groups. A left hand column appears. Notice “All iCloud” is populated with your contacts and “My Mac” empty.
Select all your contacts (that are in the group ‘All iCloud’) and drag them to the group, “All On My Mac.”  (Takes awhile.)
Now click “All iCloud” (left column) and delete all contacts from it.
Want to tidy up? View > Hide Groups, Hide Last Import.
Open and close your contacts a few times to reassure yourself they’re there.
    Breathe a sigh of relief.
Sign back into iCloud (via Sys Prefs), but:
UNcheck the “Use iCloud for mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, notes and Safari.”
(However I did check the Find My Mac option: “Allow FMM? > Allow.”)
On the iCloud list of services, Contacts maddeningly appears pre-checked, even though I said NO in the previous step!
Sign back out of iCloud, and choose “Delete from Mac” for contacts.
    Sign back into iCloud.
Again, UNcheck the “Use iCloud for mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, notes and Safari.”
(Again, I did check the Find My Mac option: Allow FMM? > Allow.)
This time, all iCloud options are unchecked except for “FMM.”
Open up Contacts on the Mac, they’re all there. (Whew!)
Look under Contacts > View > Groups and the iCloud group is gone.
On iPhone: Open up contacts, they’re all there.
Access iCloud via webpage: Open up contacts, they’re all gone.
Feeling bold; can I get my iCould notes back on my Mac?
Sys Prefs > iCloud > check Notes, and after a brief pause, Notes repopulate on the Mac.
…that’s the report so far. Hope this is useful to somebody. I’m going to try calendars next.

  • Let iPhone sync with new laptop instead of old computer

I have a new laptop and copied my entire iTunes from the old computer to my new laptop, so I have exactly the same iTunes on my new laptop. My iPhone syncs with the old computer, but because I have a new laptop I want to sync it with the iTunes in my new laptop. but when I connect my iPhone to the laptop, it just doesn't show my iPhone anywhere or reacts on it at all. It's just like nothing happens when I connect it to the laptop. How can I make it sync with the new laptop?

You can create a fresh backup on your computer: Disable auto-sync when an ipod/iPhone is connected under preferences>devices in iTunes(under the edit menu if using Windows). Connect your phone, right-click the phone in the left device pane and select "Backup". Before doing so, make sure your computer is authorized: Store>Authorize this Computer.

  • How do I transfer voice memos from my iPhone to iTunes so it can be viewed offline?

    Hello
I am struggling to find a way to transfer and save it on my iTunes (on my iMac) many voice memos (some up to 11 minutes long) and yet I can see the voice memos on iTunes via my plugged in iPhone. But unfortunately cannot find a way to save it on iTunes for offline listening so I can send it by email. (It was deemed too long to send by email from the iPhone anyway so was forced to try and save it on iTunes instead)
    Any ideas?
    (iPhone 4, iOS 6 and iTunes 11)

    1. Connect your iPhone to your computer
    2. Click the name of your iPhone under Devices in the left column
    3. Click the Music tab
    4. Click the checkbox for Include voice memos
    5. Sync your device as usual
    6. Your files will appear under a new Voice Memos playlist
    7. Right-click on a memo for more options about this file or to gain access to the actual audio file.
If you have trouble with iTunes syncing the voice memos add these steps.
    - Unplug iPhone from the computer after the failed sync
    - In iTunes, select File –> Library –> Organize Library –> Consolidate files
    - Plug in the iPhone & sync again. from here
Of course the other thing you can do, is to email the memo files and then open those with your computer and safe them as an audio file. Hope this helps, good luck

    (iphone 4  and  iphone 4s)

So I just did this on my iPhone 4 and it worked like a charm it unlocked it immediately. My phone was put into recovery mode and I know that not all data is deleted it just puts the phone into a sort of hibernation in order for the files to stay uncorrupted. I went to http://www.recovery-ipad.com/iphone-stuck-in-recovery-mode.html  downloaded the software it unlocked my phone in a matter of minutes. Calls, messages, photos, apps, and voicemail was all there as if it never happened  If you leave it unregistered you don't have to pay for it works for either windows or mac. Hope this helps!

  • I recently had to completely restore my laptop, so I lost the music on my itunes. It's still on my iphone, but how can I keep the music I already have and continue to add more music from the newly set up itunes again?

I recently had to completely restore my laptop, so I lost the music on my itunes. It's still on my iphone, but how can I keep the music I already have and continue to add more music from the newly set up itunes again? Is there actually a way to do this? I can't help but wonder what the stupid icloud is for if my music is still somewhere in the 'cloud' but it's zero help for restoring music when it's lost on a computer....any help even a site that get's around apple would be great!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good, you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to your computer.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You can also redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

I tried this again and again for countless times, no way! I have my old AT&T simcard and other carrier’s simcard. Both will not help. Please help me to activate and start using my phone.

That's usually a sign that your phone was hacked/jailbroken, and iTunes has detected such, errored out, preventing your phone from activating. Since Apple does not support hacking/jailbreaking, that's what happens, by design.
We can't help you here, as Apple owns this forum. You'll have to go elsewhere.
