Itunes 12 won't let me authorize my macbook pro

I'm signed in to my iTunes account on my macbook, that it got yesterday, and can edit the account but when I try to download songs from the account it says that I need to authorize my computer first. I tried to authorize with old answers to similar questions but I just updated to iTunes 12 and the old methods aren't working, can anyone help?

I am trying to buy Final Cut Pro X but every time I click on the Buy App button I get a pop-up saying that I need to contact Itunes Support, which is another story.

There is no way to telephone the Itunes Store. You have to go by e-mail support. It may be an account problem but they should tell me that. I am waiting on a e-mail from them.

Open Computer from the Start menu.
From the Organize menu, choose Folder and Search Options.
Click the View tab.
In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders," make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
Click OK.
Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed:C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes
Right-click the SC Info folder shown and on the shortcut menu, choose Delete.
Restart the computer.

On your Computer... Open iTunes...
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to 'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)

This is a tedious solution, which is stupid! And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization. I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. I have iTunes Match and it's been fine until now. I'm trying to download my music to my phone so I don't have to use the wifi to play it all the time.....but iTunes match won't let me copy from my computer without shutting it off. If I do that then turn it back on then I lose all the music anyway.

If you mean you want to sync your music from your computer to your iPhone you need to disable iTunes Match on the iPhone. Go to Settings > Music and set to iTunes Match to OFF (not green). You may need to wait a few minutes for the change to register with iTunes. Connect the iPhone via USB/Thunderbolt and sync the music.

What happens when you place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. Any error message?
The iPod will be erased.

I had this problem too.if you look at the top left of your page when you are in your itunes account there is a little square.click on this and you have the 'store' option avaaiable to you.
