Itunes 5 and 5.1 sync problem

I downloaded iTunes 5, but didn't sync my pod once I heard about all of the problems that people were having, so I waited for ver 5.1 and synced my pod though I get a message saying that not all the songs on iTunes can be copied over to my pod because the software is outdated? any ideas?

Then you need to download the latest version of the iPod software updater, install it and run it. Connect the iPod when told, and choose update to update the iPod to version 2.3. Then try again.

  • ITunes 10.2 upgrade, iPhone 3g, and Windows XP sync problems

I, too, upgraded to iTunes 10.2. I have an iPhone 3g and use Windows XP. When I tried to sync, all of my music on my iPhone was wiped out and the sync just “hung up”. My computer's task manager reported that iTunes was “not responding” so I had to close iTunes and stop the sync. This has happened over and over. However, sync was working just fine until it tried to sync my music and ringtones. My calendars and contacts and photos was not affected my this glitch. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes without any success. Help! Any suggestions? Can I “downgrade” back to a release that works???

    Hi,
Disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall on your PC. Then try syncing.

  • How can I delete apps in iTunes and have that sync to my iPhone and iPad?

How can I delete apps in iTunes and have that sync to my iPhone and iPad? I don't want to delete 3 separate times for each item. I just carefully chose 30-35 apps to get rid of via iTunes, hoping it would sync to my devices, only to find I have to repeat the process on my iPad, take notes, then repeat it on my iPhone. It wasn't always so tedious was it?
Here's the "Help" I got from Apple. They even quoted my question back to me then proceeded to answer with something very different and completely missing the point.
I understand that you would like to delete the Apps. I know how eager you are to get the required information and I will be happy to assist you.
You can remove individual songs, audiobooks, and videos from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Removing an item from your device doesn't delete it from your iTunes library.
To remove items from a device other than an iPod shuffle, first make sure that iTunes is set up to manually manage items.
    1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
    2. When the iPod, iPhone, or iPad icon appears in iTunes, select it.
    3. Unless your device is an iPod shuffle, click the Summary tab and make sure "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music" is selected.
    4. If the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices) is closed, click the triangle so that you can see the device's contents.
    5. Select the item you want to delete and press the Delete key.
This was not helpful in any way and I am still unable to delete apps on my devices in a global, iTunes based way. Each device still requires its own independent process.

Match was off.  I made all of the changes and then went through the "Turn on iTunes Match" option.  I now have deleted some tracks, edited the Metadata in CDDA, and then added it back.  This worked fine, but it is not a good solution.
I just tried making some edits and use the "Update iTunes Match" and that seemed to work.  It looks like the real answer is that Match must be up and operational, then you can make changes and run the Update to incorporate the changes.  However, if Match has a problem then Signing Out and back in to your store account and going through the process of Turning On Match (were you get the questions, "Add this Computer to Match" will overwrite any changes.
Since this relies on the stability of iTunes, I won't be making a lot of changes between updates.

  • Ipod is not recognized by iTunes and will not sync

When trying to sync my ipod up with iTunes, it is not recognized as a device by iTunes and cannot be synced up. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had this issue. Basically, iPhoto would recognize my iPod Touch and my wife's iPhone, but iTunes would not. Thus, I knew it was not the USB cable or ports.
In one forum, I tried something and it worked.
In Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor, I stopped iTunes Helper.
Then I downloaded and reinstalled a fresh copy of iTunes.
Once I restarted iTunes and plugged in my devices, they appeared just like they used to.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS2818 I have purchased songs from iTunes and when I sync with my Ipad only some are imported....then it says contact Itunes as to why your songs are not being synced.

I have purchased many songs on Itunes and then I sync to my Ipad. Then it tells me so many songs cannot be synced.  Why? I also attach my connection and it is now saying this iphone is not connected when it is an Ipad connected to my MacBook Air.  I also think that when you have an account with Apple they should honour your email to all your music and not just your laptop as I now have to use my old laptop which is about to die so what happens then.

What is the exact wording of the error message?
Were all songs purchased by the same iTunes account?
What did iTunes say when you contacted them?

  • I bought two songs off itunes and they wont sync onto my ipod touch but they did sync onto my ipod classic.  I have tried all troubleshooting ideas to get the songs to sync on my ipod toch but nothing works. :(

I bought some songs off of itunes and the songs synced onto my ipod CLASSIC but they didnt sync into my ipod TOUCH. I have tried authorizing and deauthorizing my laptop, updating softwares but nothing works. Anyone know why this is happening?!?!?!

    Hi,
The songs need to be in the playlist(s) that go onto the ipod touch.
Plug the ipod touch into the computer and go to the music section of it from the devices menu. From here make sure that the playlist(s) that go on to this ipod are the ones that have the new songs.
Once this is done, click sync/apply.
    I hope this helps.

  • When i connect my ipod touch to the computer and it brings up itunes, and it starts syncing, it just stays on the last step(6) and I can't download anything else to my ipod.

I connected my ipod touch to the computer.  When it brings up itunes and start to sync, it stalls at the last step (6).  This keeps me from being able to add other songs from my library to my ipod.  I'm very new at this and maybe just don't understand how it works.

Every time I start my PC it says Procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll  It also keeps freezing on Itunes and I cannot sync. Please can anyone help?

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the libmxl2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Reboot and see if all is well
In case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "libxml2.dll" to the location.
    5. Reboot your computer, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
    Good Luck

    Hi, gcmar.
I would double check to make sure that you have selected the options for syncing.  Look over the article below to make sure you have the items that you want selected to sync over.

  • Iphone 5S no longer recognized in ITunes and so cannot sync

Iphone 5S is no longer recognized in ITunes so it cannot sync.  I am not seeing the driver listed and therefore the recommendation to repair the driver does not work for me.  Have rebooted, deleted Itunes and reuploaded many many times.  I have read and tried all the "Apple" fixes listed.  I use Kasperasky Anti-Virus and wondered if that could be blocking the driver needed.  I have added the Apple programs to Kaspersky's exclusion list but that did not work.  Seems ridiculous to spend any more money to download songs in ITunes if I can never sync my Iphone 5S to get them on my phone.  Apple techs, please help - just recommending the standard fixes I keep reading has not helped at all.  Anyone else have a different suggestion?  Thanking you in advance as I've spent so many hours on trying to find a fix.

Thank you for your suggestions but I still have the problem.  The Iphone 5S is not recognized and I have deleted Kaspersky off my computer (and still have not put it back on yet).  I still do not see the Apple Mobile Service USB Driver listed.  I had done this process previously (several times) but went through it all again in your order just in case I missed something.  I am wondering if there is a way to go back to the previous version of ITunes in case it was the ITunes update causing me the problems.  I do not think I can blame it on Kaspersky since it is not on my computer now and I have the same problem.
I also notice that the Iphone is not listed in my devices in Windows 7 - not sure if it was before or is suppose to be for sure - but just noting it is not. I tried the option to add devices but Windows does not find the Iphone 5S.  Just thought I would add that information in case that should lead to a solution.  Again thanks for your time - would appreciate any other suggestions.  I don't think you can use Apple Support without paying money so would like to find help from someone else having the problems.  I think it is odd so many people are having problems with their phone being recognized or sometimes just it syncing - and various steps have helped others (like uninstalling and re-installing).  Thanks for any help.

  • ITunes and iPhone 4 sync issues with Windows 7 64 bit

I am getting several errors with sync'ing iTunes to my iPhone on windows7 64bit. I reinstalled iTunes, I did a repair on iTunes, even tried a RESTORE on iPhone, but it gives me so many errors one after another after another.
    1. Some of the items were NOT copied to iPhone "iPhone" because one ore more errors occured.
    2. Attempting to copy to the disk "iPhone" failed. An internal device error occured.
    3. The iPhone "iPhone" can NOT be synced. An unknown error occured (0xE8004006).
    4. The iPhone "iPhone" can not be synced. The required file can not be found.
    5. The iPhone "iPhone" can not be synced. A duplicate filename was specified.
    6. The iPhone "iPhone" can not be synced. An internal device error occured.
These errors keep appearing one after the other.
I have fully uninstalled iTunes and ALL Apple programs from my PC, rebooted, disabled antivirus/firewall software, etc.
I have tried changing time zones.
I have created a new user account on same laptop and still have same issues with iTunes.
Restore fails with error "Unable to read file or file is corrupt".
Yet iTunes works fine on a 32bit operating system of Windows 7.
The problem is that I upgraded my laptop and the new laptop is Win7 64bit. I have ALL the newest drivers, and I checked to ensure it was not a BIOS or CHIPSET driver causing issues. All windows updates are up to date and current.
I have been trying for over a week with every piece of trouble shooting I can find to make this work.
Any help or further information would be VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED.
    Thanks in Advance

I too am having the exact same issues on the same laptop! I spent an hour last night with "supervisor" in tech support who didn't solve my problem but did close the ticket (210757099 for any Apple people that might read this). Thanks a lot Ben!
I have seven ipod/iphone/ipad devices so I am very familiar with how to sync. In the last few weeks, version 10.2 of iTunes (I'm up to 10.2.1.1) has gotten less and less reliable in successfully sync'ing to the devices. It started out with my 3GS, but my iPhone 4 was fine. Then I got an iPad2 and now NOTHING will sync properly. Every time I plug one in (or press the sync button) it wants to do a restore from the backup made the last time it sync'd. It does that, reboots the device and sync's.
    I've gotten a ton of errors, here's a sample.
iBooks couldn't be installed on my iPhone unknown error 0xE800000C
Textie couldn't be installed on my iPhone, unknown error 0xE8000013
"failed required file not found" - This is one of my favorite error messages. It demonstrates how Apple is becoming like Microsoft. It is 100% accurate and totally useless. It would be helpful if it told me the NAME of the file that was not found...
    unknown error 0xE8004006
"duplicate file found" - Again, in true Microsoft form, it didn't tell me the NAME of the file that was duplicated.
I tried everything discussed in the following thread but it did not work.

Stopping the enhanced USB controller didn't work. Mine is the Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller (version 9.1.1.1020).
A few days ago I got hundreds of errors in a sync. When it completed, a dialogbox came up asking if I wanted to send this crash report to Apple, I said yes. So, crash reports are now automatically being sent. You can see evidence of this in the %appdata%\Apple Computer\Logs directory.
This section of the log looked interesting because it says it couldn't connect to USB mux port 32498

  • ITunes 10.5.3 syncing problems

Ever since I have updated iTunes I have been having problems. Half the time it won't even open or recognize my iPod at all. When it does recognize it, I receive an error when I try and sync it. Usually it's error -60 or sometimes it's an error 50. Is there anything I can do to fix these problems or is it just the newest version of iTunes screwing up?

Ever since 10.5 came out, I've been reading the RSS feed of this group to see if it was safe to upgrade, and I've been seeing more and more synch problems, especially corruption of the iPod Classic harddisk requiring reloading, and problems and interactions with antivirus. I'm very glad that I've stayed on the 10.4 version; it validates my notion of not upgrading iTunes unless you must (there was one point where the iTunes store stopped working and I had to upgrade).
I've summarized what I've seen on this forum on a post in my blog. There I've identified a site that supposedly has older versions of iTunes available, although I'd prefer a pointer to an internal Apple site. What I don't know is whether the database format is the same. You could try backing up your database (i.e., the .itdb, .itl, and .xml files in your iTunes directory), following the Apple procedure to complete remove iTunes (found at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925).
I don't know if Apple is aware of the Synch problems created for the iPod Classic in the 10.5.x series, but unless you need to upgrade, I'd suggest waiting. Watch this forum and see what comments show up. For those posting here... please identify the version of iTunes you are using, and what has changed on your system between the last time you were able to synch correctly and when synch started failing.

  • IPhone is not being recognised by iTunes and won't sync

A few days my iPhone randomly froze so I had to do a hard reset. Then when I plugged it into my laptop and tried to sync it, it said The required file could not be found. I pressed ok and then another box came up with something along the lines of iPhone could not be synced, error -6999.
So I unplugged and plugged back in and a message came up saying "iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click restore to restore this iPhone to its factory settings". So i did this, restored everything to factory and then tried to re-sync with my computer. Then exactly the same error came up as before (file cannot be found, iPhone doesnt sync). And the circle goes on and on and on.
I've tried restarting, re-installing itunes. I think iTunes is working though because I can still sync my nano with no trouble. Any ideas? Because this is really annoying.
    Cheers, Skiddz

I'm having the same problem... just got a new iPhone 3GS in addition to the older 3G model. I need to synch them both with home (music, photos, videos etc. master) and work computers (Contacts, Calendar master).
This worked no problem on the older 3G model, the 3GS synched with my home computer but my work once I get the following message: "iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click restore to restore this iPhone to its factory settings".
I've tried re-starting both iPhone and computer, un-installing and re-installing iTunes / QuickTime / Apple Mobile Device Manager etc.; different USB ports etc. and still the problem exists...
    Please help.

  • IPod Shuffle freezes itunes and will not sync or restore

Using windows, i plug the shuffle in, it shows up in itunes, but when i try to sync anything to it, or restore it, my itunes temporarily freezes, and in like 5 minutes an error pops up saying: " The iPod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found. "
    Any ideas?
btw i have enable disk use off... because i just bought the shuffle today, and im already having problems, and i get the same error when i try to enable it, and restore it.

nevermind, sorry, didnt see the solution on the board

  • I recently downloaded over 20,000 songs from an external hard drive to my iTunes and I am having problems accessing some of the songs on my iPad now that I have created playlists including some fo the songs.

It is about 90GB of music in total. Is it possible that the large volume is responsible for some fo the problems I am experiencing?

The songs are on iTunes. I have copied some into a playlist and when I sync with the iPad the list is copied but there are some songs that cannot be played even though they are listed. These songs are listed but in greyscale so I cannot select them to be played.
I have not exceeded the capacity of the iPad.

  • ITunes on Windows 8 Syncing Problems Solved!

NOTE: I have only had this problem on Windows 8, not Windows 7, so if you're having trouble on Windows 7, this might not help you.
If you are experiencing the issue where your device never fully syncs, disconnects halfway through, freezes after "waiting for changes to be applied," then I believe this solution will help you.
    Follow these steps:
    1) Locate your iTunes.exe file. This can be found by the following path: Start--> All Apps (little arrow that appears on bottom left of screen when you mouse over it) -->This PC (on the far right) --> whatever drive you installed iTunes on (if you are not sure, it is the C drive by default) --> Program Files (x86) --> iTunes --> in this folder you will see a file labeled "iTunes.exe" or just "iTunes" make sure you're NOT on the "iTunesHelper" icon for the next step.
    2) Right-click on the file and hit "Properties"
    3) Click the tab labeled "Compatibility"
    4) Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    5) Click the drop-down menu just underneath that check box and choose "Windows 7"
    6) Now check the box labeled "Run this program as an administrator
    7) Click "Apply"
    8) Click "Ok"
    9) All done! Now try syncing whatever device was giving you trouble and it should work. My iPhone had to sync about 3000 songs and it failed about halfway through, but all I had to do was restart the sync and it finished the remaining 1500 or so.
Just thought I should offer this tip for those of you running Windows 8 and having syncing problems .

Yes that is a standard fix:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
