ITunes 5 and language settings

I've just installed the latest iTunes 5.0.0.35 and even though I downloaded the correct language version (English), when installing it I get iTunes in Swedish. I don't want the Swedish version but somehow I'm stuck with it. I seem to recall that iTunes 4,8 had a language setting in preferences but this seems to be missing in iTunes 5. Any ideas on how to get iTunes 5 to install in English?

You will find this issue discussed in the forum for iTunes for Windows -- nothing to do with the iPod.

How do I transfer my MacBook Air to my wife so she can sync her iTunes account and other settings with her iPad Mini?

You can change the account shortname to whatever you wish to use.
As you can see from my example above. Once you click on the Create User button a new account will be created.
She will need to get her own Apple ID setup so when she starts with iTunes she can open her own iTunes account unless you both want to share the use of the same Apple ID. This can create a bit of confusion if you have your own iPads or iPhones or iPods. As you have discovered it's pretty much one iDevice with one Apple ID.
As for the iTunes library that becomes a more complicated issue.

  • Regional and Language Settings for Window and BEX Style

    Hi All,
When I change the Regional and Language Settings for Windows, Standards and Formats value to English (USA) the standard Style for BEX is active. For instance, input-ready cell is bordered with blue. But when I switch to Turkish this style is not active.
Additionally, I have to change Style for each Workbook one by one. How can we adopt a style to every workbook.
    Regards,

    Lars,
This is a setting on the 'Defaults' tab in the User Profile. This can be set when a new user is set-up in SU01, or it can be changed by each user according to personal preference in SU3. I'm sure there is a system table where these settings are stored that could probably be edited for all users, if that is desired, but I don't know which table that would be off the top of my head.
    Hope this helps...

  • Mobile Sync and Language Settings

Every one in our houshold uses mobile accounts on a few computers. No matter which computer you take, you can login with your server account. These are not network accounts, but mobile accounts with portable home directories (PHD) (so you can take the macbook with you) and they are synchronized with the server. My kids use the Dutch langauge for their OS interface. I manage everyone's preferences for mobility.
I found out the following: if you (for instance) add ~/Music to the skip list for home sync (so it all stays on one system), it turns out it does not work. I have to type that as ~/Muziek (Dutch word for Music). Hence: if a user of mine changes language settings he or she circumvents the managed preferences on this point. I find this completely unexpected. I would have thought that this would have been implemented at the unix level.
Ugh. I can understand the difficulties involved (e.g. translating a regex from one language to another is a no-go), but at least the language setting could have been well integrated with managing settings.
At least I would like to set the language for a user then, so I can control which interface language is used (and adapt the PHD rules accordingly). But I haven't been able to find a setting for that. Probably I have to set it once and after that manage acces too language in System Preferences? Is there a better way?

I always like to back things up to an external hard drive though. Get a western digital external 1tb hard drive for 50 bucks online. Great thing to have. You can store all music and movies on there and free up that space on your computer so it runs smoother

  • ASPIRE V3-471G WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE LOCALE AND LANGUAGE SETTINGS

When I first tried to upgrade from Windows 7 Home basic to windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, I got the "Something Happened" message. so I googled the problem and found out that the Language and locale should be compatible with each other. So what I did was go into Windos 7 settings and set the Language, Region, Keyboard to English USA saved the settings as new user then reboot the laptop. I then again checked the settings for uniformity as English USA. Upgrade using the Tool went on smoothly but took 3 hours because of the big download. For everyones information. Further Information here

@MattheusSilva Btw how did you activate windows 10? I thought you first need to download and install the update>get windows 10 activated and then you can get your key so you can do a clean install with a dvd. I can't even get past the install stage so I can get it activated to get my new key.

  • World clock and language settings

LS, If I have my iPod set to local language (Dutch), the world clock shouws all cities in the US as been in the Netherlands, i.e.: Las Vegas, Netherlands. When the laguange set is English, cities are shown correctly, i.a. Atlanta, US. My S/W version is 1.1.2; anybody any thoughts here? THX.

mh, works fine for me, so I guess it's not a general firmware bug.
you could try to restore your ipod, I think that should help.

  • Regional and Language Settings problems

    Hi everybody,
I have to display some information written in Romanian. If I have a static (Romanian) text(Text Object), then everything is OK:
(Here is the text object copied from the Report: dana_test_şŞ_ţŢ)
The problem appears if the text is saved into a database table. In this second situation, some characters(ş,Ş, ţ and Ţ) are displayed incorrectly.
(Here is the database field's value copied from the same Report: dana_test_ªº_Þþ)
If I select the same values from the database (e.g. using SQLTools), then all characters are shown correctly.
    (SQL: SELECT Description FROM TestRo WHERE Article LIKE 'dm_TestRo%';
    Result: dana_test_Şş_Ţţ)
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Jelena,
The DG4MSQL doesn't support MSQL 2008 without a patch. Go to My Oracle Support and download and apply patch 7623456 for the platform where you are running the gateway.
If you still have problems then either update here again or open a SR using MOS.

  • How do i back-up my whole itunes library and settings

i have a rather extensive library and i wanted to know an efficient way of backing up my itunes library and the settings/playlists so that if i transfer over to another computer i won't have to waste hours trying to re-organize it! thank you!!

Well....You can Use iTunes for Backing up your Music, but I do not favor this mehtod.
It works fine for music files BUT: I prefer more control and completeness over my backup process. It is also very important to note that a large limitation of using iTunes to manage the backup is that the iTunes method does not create or maintain backups of the two meta-data files (iTunes Library.itl & iTunes Music Library.xml) where your Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. are stored. See: What are the iTunes Library files?
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), it is crucial that you also make and archive multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
If your music is located under one common Folder (e.g.-‘iTunes’), then it is easiest to physically copy that folder and all its sub-folders in one simple process. It can be done quickly, and incrementally – several times a day, when necessary. In the case of any data loss, just re-copy your entire (or partial) music library back to wherever it was, placing it in the main Folder that the previous iTunes expected. Along with the ‘iTunes Library.itl’ metadata file, this completes a full ‘restore’ of your music to the time of your last backup.
Use of a backup software program will greatly help. It will allow you to easily perform incremental backups of only the files that have changed. WinXP has such a facility built-in. I use a free program called FileSync ( http://www.fileware.com ). There are many out there. Some use Zipped files or proprietary formats, others use standard file formats. I like FileSync as it uses normal file formats that can be viewed/managed via any Windows program or utility.
    iTunes Files to Backup
    1) All music files in their current folder structure (usually located in and under the ‘iTunes Music’ folder)
    2) The Library database file: ‘iTunes Library.itl’ located in the ‘iTunes’ folder
    3) The Library XML file: ‘iTunes Music Library.xml’ located in the ‘iTunes’ folder
    4) Any XML playlist files you created for Playlist retention
    5) The two iTunes.pref files (optional)
    -- C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    -- C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer Inc\iTunes.pref
Here's a list of possible ways to copy your music files from your main iTunes computer to another storage medium for backup purposes.
    1) Use an External Hard Drive to store the complete iTunes meta-data files and underlying Music Folder structure and songs from your main computer. They are quite cheap now, for their storage volume. This is my preferred main medium.
    2) If you have Two Computers:
2a) Connect them through a router
2b) Connect them using a Direct (w/Mac) or Crossover (PC/PC) Ethernet cable (See: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3001.html)
2c) Connect them via a USB-to-USB Network Bridge. See: here as an example.
Copy the files and folders from one computer to the other. Use the second PC as your backup repository.
    3) Burn several DVDs (at 4.7+ GBs each) with the music data files and store them safely. Re-writable ones are good for backup purposes (if your DVD drive can manage these).
    4) Burn 6x more on CDs (at 700MB each) than in #3 above and store them safely in more space Re-writable ones are good for backup purposes (if your CD drive can manage these).
    5) Use a larger USB Flash drive (1GB – 4+GBs) to store the files only if you have a small amount ripped music or have multiple and/or jumbo USB drives at your disposal that will fit your music library.
    6) Use the Second Internal Hard Drive (if available) of your PC -- not optimum, as you really want to physically separate the storage of backups from the originals, but good as a tertiary storage device.
By keeping only one copy of your music (other than on the iPod), you are not truly 'backed-up' and are running a high risk of losing your music. Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
It is a good policy to backup all your important data. It is a very smart policy to back it up on more than one medium.
External hard drives now run less than $100 for 200-250GBs of storage. Very cheap backup insurance, indeed. See This Link

  • CUP 5.3 SP8 - Language Settings/Language on Requestor Screen

    CUP Experts/Users,
We are on CUP 5.3 SP8. There are several issues related to language
settings within CUP. Our default language in Configuration->Miscellaneous is English.
    - When a Requestor logs on to create in a language other than English,
most of the fields within CUP are translated to that language. However,
some values are not translated to that language. For example, we have
created 3 priority levels; High, Medium, and Low. When a Requestor logs
in in Spanish to create a request in Spanish, they are still
seeing "High, Medium, and Low." So obviously CUP is not translating
these values for us...But I am not seeing anywhere in configuration where I
can put the Spanish version of these values? Also, when I create a
custom field, this value too is not getting translated and I see no
where in configuration where I can do this? Any ideas?
    - When a Requestor logs on to create in a language other than English,
the SAP menus still remain in our default langauge of English.
Shouldn't these be translated to the user's requested language? For
example, when a user creates a request and chooses the language of
Spanish and gets logged in, the values on the left-side control panel
    still read:
    Request Access
    Request Status
    Support
    User Login
Shouldn't these be converted to Spanish? Is this a bug?
A greater understanding of CUP languages and language settings would
    also be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Jes Behrens

That certainly makes sense. I didn't expect CUP would have a smart language translator
So the question is; how do I enter data/create configuration pieces in multiple languages?
For example, If I create a custom Request Type called "Change Production Security," I want to be able to enter this for multiple languages, i.e. when a someone logs in in Spanish it would show the Spanish version of that Request Type. Currently, I see no where to do this in configuration and this is a a pretty important step.
The static Request Types that come with CUP, such as "Change Account," comes in different languages. So somewhere in CUP table, there's an entry for "Change Account" in various languages. How do I access this table? Is there a tool I can use to even find this table? Is this even possible?
    Thanks again!

  • Change country or language settings - iTunes match

I've subscribed for iTunes match and now I'd like to change my country or language settings from Germany to Holland. If I need to unsubscribe iTunes match then how do I do it. I could not find any option to unsubscribe iTunes match in Itunes.

Your best route is to call Apple direct, explain what you are trying to do and work with the pointers they provide.
To unsubscribe, you would need to go into your current account, de-select options for automatic renewal.  De-authorise your computers and sign out of iTunes - but it is worth assessing with Apple whether this will achieve what you need.
The rule to watch is the one that requires 90 days to elapse before you can use your computer with another Apple Id - it may be that there is no neat route around this deliberate service restriction that Apple have designed in - other than the obvious, to use a second computer (or an emulator on your current computer).

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

  • I just setup mine and my wife's iphone 4 on new ios5 and icloud settings.  Our phones are both on my account.  Her phone is receiving my contacts, calendars, etc. due to this.  Is there a way I can separate her phone from my account in itunes and icloud?

I just set up mine and my wife's iphone 4 on new ios5 and icloud settings.  I have both phones on one account and actually she purchases apps/music with my sign in and password on her phone.
Now that we are set up on icloud settings, her phone is receiving my calendars, contacts, etc.  she does not want and does not need any of these items on her phone.  How can I separate the two now?  is there a way to have a different login and password for her phone so that it sets up on its own icloud settings?
    Thanks

She should create her own Apple ID and start using it for everything, including purchasing.
    It starts on the computer in iTunes. There are 2 elements we are dealing with;
purchasing items from iTunes (apps, music) and playing items in iTunes.
Only one Apple ID can be signed in at a time for purchasing. But you can "authorize" multiple Apple IDs for playing. As long as iTunes is "authorized" with both your Apple IDs, items purchased with these different accounts can coexhist in one iTunes Library.
Why this is important, it has to do with back up and being able to transfer purchased items to the computer.
Once your wife sets up her own account, she will want to connect the iPhone to the computer to back it up and transfer any new purchases, iTunes will need to be authorized for that to happen.
With that said, a new feature of iColud is back up. It will back up everything to the cloud. You need to turn it on, it's at the bottom of the iCloud settings on the iPhone. It is limited to 5GB for free, you can buy more. I used all 5GB my first back up, but I have a lot of crap, and there's a lot of things on the iPhone that get backed up that don't count against the 5GB, so it might be plenty of space for you.
When it comes to the iCloud and contacts/calendars, again your wife needs her own account. (ASAP)  Does she have a computer in her life that has a list of her contacts and calendars. I hope so, because it sounds like her contacts on her iPhone are now mixed with yours. Or I hope there is still an untouched list of contacts on the iPhone that iCloud didn't mix.  Either way Delete your iCloud account from her iPhone. Remove the data, as long as it isn't hers. This will delete all info being synced to the cloud. If she still has a list of her old contacts on the iPhone, great. If not, I hope she has them somewhere else, like her own computer.
Create her an iCloud account. Enter the account info where ever there is a list of contacts/calendars and get the info onto the cloud, then add the iCloud settings to any other devices.
Any new apps/music purchased with her account will back up to the cloud. I don't think apps purchased with your account will. She will also need to enter your password for updating these apps, because they were purchased with your account.
I hope this helped and didn't make thing more confusing.  Good luck!

  • I received the following message when iTunes launches: "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's or DVD's are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning softwarre.  Please reinstall iTunes"

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes"  I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue.  I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes.  I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either.  I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet.  Would that perhaps fix the problem?  I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue.  I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop.  Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using  Homegroup.  I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.
    Thanks in advance.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:
