ITunes 5 and Outlook

I downloaded iTunes 5 for PC yesterday with the hope of synchronizing my Outlook 2003 calendar with the iPod's calendar. Now, I have gotten iTunes to successfully synchronize my contacts to the iPod, but every time it tries to sync the calendar I get an "unknown error (-50)" in iTunes.
It seems to get as far as communicating with Outlook and asking it for the calendar, since Outlook asks me to OK the sharing of its information for any amount of time I specify.
Any help in getting a successful sync with my calendar would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi all. I started a thread under itunes 5.0 about the same thing, and there are a lot of people experiencing the same problem:
Tina J., "Outlook Syncing problem", 10:55pm Sep 7, 2005 CDT
I at first got the -50 error when trying to sync my contacts (calendar seems to sync fine). I heard that to fix the multiple calendar entries issue, you need to have only one e-mail address per contact. I cleaned my Outlook up (moving extra email addresses under notes), and ever since I don't get that error anymore. Instead itunes freezes (and keeps playing 1 second of a song over and over and over) and I have to manually close it.
Honestly, until there's a new itunes update fixing this issue, I have given up syncing my contacts. I'm now using a freeware that works fine, it just takes a couple of steps.
Cheers,
Tina

  • HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer.  Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer.  Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro.  I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty.  Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
    Can anyone help please?
    thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • ICloud 1.0.1 Update freezes iTunes and Outlook on PC

I updated iCloud and Safari last night, restarted the Pc (Win 7 64bit) and iTunes and Outlook both open but freeze immediately.
I can't get the iCloud control panel to open either.
I've killed the iCloud process in Task manager but this makes no difference to iTunes however I have managed to get Outlook to work without iCloud.
I've reinstalled iCloud but no success.
I know others are having similar problems so a response from Apple acknowledging this would be helpfull and any info on what's causing it and a workaround would be great.
I would have tried to create a support ticket on the issure but seemingly you can't do that without Mac hardware and as this is an issue on a PC platform that would seem to be pointless.

iCloud control panel has been driving me insane for a week now - it just would not open or run and Outlook could not see it properly or use it. But this is the first solution that appears to work thanks to sean-g11 - a brilliant fix that seems to work although I simplified it a bit! I just stopped the process tree APS Daemon.exe *32 and closed outlook and then deleted the file and then repaired iCloud. I could then at long last access icloud control panel so signed out and back in making sure to save everything locally when asked. For the time being seems to have solved the problem so again many many thanks for the fix - I can't tell you how this has been bugging me!

  • Transfer iTunes and Outlook data to a new PC

I'm successfully logged into Homeshare with my old computer and I've tried the methods listed here, but can't get to the "import" button that is supposed to import selected items. Is there an easy way to just take my data (Music and Outlook data including contacts and calendars) from my iPhone 5 and dump it into my new PC?

Apps are locked to the account that purchased them. They can't be transferred.
    This may work

  • ITunes and Outlook Express

Hi, I'm new here. My dad gave my mom a iPod Nano for Christmas and I just got around to installing it last week. When I received my first iPod years ago, I was forced to remove iTunes off of my parent's computer because my father gets his email via Outlook Express and any time he tries to open a video emailed to him, iTunes attempts to do it. The problem is that it isn't compatible with iTunes, so it doesn't work. It does however work with a different program and I am aware of that. When iTunes isn't on this computer his email goes straight to the other program, but for some reason, the minute we install iTunes this changes. I've set the other program as the default, made sure that iTunes isn't the default, and even disabled iTunes to no avail. Has anybody else had this problem? Unfortunately, my father is insistent that we remove iTunes which means that my mother can never add any more tunes to her iPod and we can't share my laptop because my music makes her cringe on a good day. I just want to fix this for her and I've done everything that I can think of. Any aid that you might give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cheolsoo Park and all other IPod/Windows users,
the same problem happens also with IPod mini. So I would like to express my compassion for all of You.
The Outlook sync was really a big scam and obviously just a commercial gag.
I hate that. That usually only happens with Windows products,
My first really bad Apple experience.

    3) The same iPhones dont have sync or pairing problems on another PC whis Win7 32bit but the same outlook and iTunes
    Hope somebody can help

Is the hang happening when you're syncing calendars? If so, by any chance, do you have Eset security software (like Nod32) installed on the PC?

  • ITunes and outlook contact syncing

hey gang, I found a great post here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1418?viewlocale=en_US
on how to move contacts from outlook to ipod, I could find nothing to do the opposite...move contacts from ipod to outlook...

I eventually resolved this myself by resetting sync history ... at least I guess that did it.

  • Either iTunes or outlook is mixing contacts and calendars between two iphones

I've been having this problem for a while now and have endlessly combed the internet for an answer without a result. Either I can't find it or the answer isn't there.
I have an iPhone 5, my husband has an iPhone 4. We have a laptop running windows 7. Latest iTunes and Outlook 2007.
We have seperate user accounts on the computer and we have seperate apple ID. The only thing we share is the computer, the music and some apps.
The problem is that when we sync our phones to the computer it somehow mixes up our contacts and calendars, Thats it. Nothing else gets mixed. It is extremely frustrating. I'm almost certain it has something to do with Outlook but can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this problem. Every answer I have found says it should stay seperate if there are different accounts and ID. But this is not so. Can someone please please please help me. I'm really sick of getting his calendar alerts, and thinking its my mum ringing when its his mum (both stored as mum). The only thing I can do at the moment is go into my outlook, fix it all up and replace everything on my phone. But as soon as hubbys phone syncs with his user account it gets all mixed up again. Frustrated!!

    Hi limelioness,
It is a known bug and there is not solution to date. The only option is to not use the same device in different social networks or applications that use contacts. Keep separated Outlook from Facebook or Linkedin.
There are problems of synchronization between Outlook and other applications that use contacts to sync to mobile devices. In our company we found that iPhone generates some processing of contacts at the time that synchronize with Outlook and other social networks. Mixes the contact data and generates corrupted contacts with other users data. The solution is to use the device only with Outlook, without social networks.
This problem has happened at least 10 phones and all of them have chosen to use only with Outllook . There is no way to solve this problem, at least so we are told technicians after reporting the problem several.
    I hope this help you.
    Best Regards
    Adele.

  • Where do I set up rules for conflict resolution when syncing iTunes with Outlook?

I just got an iPhone 5 and I'm coming from a Blackberry.  I've been syncing Outlook Calendar and Contacts to a portable device for over 10 years, even back in the day of the pocket pc and more recently the Blackberry.  My iPhone 5 syncs great and seemlessly with Outlook using iTunes.  I've had no issues as of yet.  The problem for me is, it just seems "too" easy.  I didn't see anywhere where I could set rules for conflict resolutions.  For example, if your pc says one thing but your iPhone says another, who wins and supercedes the other?  What if by accident your iPhone loses all of its data, then iTunes syncs with your pc - will it delete all the Outlook data on your pc because it thinks it's syncing with updated data from your iPhone?  (in my case data I've had for over 10 years)
With the Blackberry software it asked you to set up rules for conflict resolution when first connecting the phone (including an option to ask you first).  In my case, I chose to have it ask me whenever it discovered a conflict.  So whenever I synced, it specifically alerted me exactly how many items are being synced, and then if there were any conflicts, it'd stop and then ask me which device I want to supercede the other.  This gave me a lot of piece of mind.  Now after getting my iPhone and using iTunes to sync, it's been great so far but I have to say that I don't have as much piece of mind.  Does anyone have any feedback on how to set up conflict resolution with iTunes and Outlook or does it not exist at all?  Again, what would happen if there was a conflict between the two devices?

Yes! Thankyou for that. I had of course put the context.xml file in the web-inf directory.
I followed your example to the letter and it still wouldn't work. Or rather, I followed to the letter expect for the difference between "WEB" and "META".
Once I worked that out, it started working like a dream.
Note to anyone else who has a similar problem, make sure you REALLY look at the answer given. Make sure you REALLY do have all the files in the suggested places. It will save you time.
    Thanks again.

  • HT1386 I just loaded the latest version of itunes and now my Outlook notes won't sync and notes no longer appears in the advanced section of the info page

I just loaded the latest version of itunes and now I cannot sync my notes from Outlook 2010 to my iphone.  Notes no longer appears under the advanced section of the info tab.  Since I have not had luck syncing in the cloud I always check the boxes and tell the sync to sync from my computer to my phone.  Does anyone know how to get this to work.

When you connect your ipod up to the computer. It should show the device, usually with the name of the device, in my case 'jordan's ipod'. This should be on the row which shows 'songs', 'albums' e.t.c on the far right. There when you click on it it should go to a different screen showing a picture of your ipod along with two buttons - Update and Restore. Click update and it should take a 2 mins while your ipod is updated to the latest version of Ios.
After updating te ipod see if there is a change in results.
PS: make sure the device is active while syncing so keep tapping the screen.
Sorry for any incorrect info, i have an ipod touch, but i've had experience with an ipod

  • ITunes 9.0.1 windows 7 and outlook - default client error message in sync

So I've just installed a new copy of the RTM release of Windows 7 (clean install on new PC). I've installed my outlook 2002 and iTunes as well and replicated my settings identically to my old system running on XP.
The problem I'm getting is that everytime I try to synch my iPhone to iTunes, I get the following error message:
Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging requests. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.
Now....I do not use outlook for mail and most IMPORTANTLY, in the iTunes sync Info window for my iPhone, Mail Accounts is unticked so that it should not sync.
Normally, I'd call this a microsoft issue, but I think this is a problem with iTunes and Windows 7 possibly. It looks like iTunes is trying to do something with the mail client even thought I have it configured to ignore mail account synching.
Anyone have this problem and a solution?
I tried doing a detect and repair in microsoft outlook, but the problem is still present.

Ya I had the same problem. Just uncheck all of the outlook boxes and then re-sync. Then recheck them all and re-sync, after that my itunes got hung up on calenders so to fix that just go into preferences, devices and then click reset sync history and you should be all set.
