ITunes 5 Computer Authorization issue?

I deactivated all 5 computers associated with my iTunes account. I try to authorize a new one and it still says I have 5 authorized. I check my account and it says I have only 1 authorized, and still cannot authorize the second computer. Any ideas?

  • Problems loading iPod music onto a second computer (authorization issues?)

Hi everyone -- I've spent over 3 hrs on this problem without finding an answer, so hoping someone can help!!
I bought a Dell laptop (running Windows XP) which I now use as my primary computer, and am trying to upload my iTunes music onto it. I have authorized it over and over several ways:
    1. iTunes store -> authorize computer (I get an "authorization successful" response)
    2. trying to play a song off my iPod and having iTunes respond with a "you're not authorized, do you want to authorize?" and I say yes and keep re-entering my account info and am told again it's now authorized.
But when I try to go to File -> Transfer purchases from Owner's iPod, I get a response that says "some of the purchases on your iPod could not be transferred because you're not authorized to play them on this computer" and once again asks me if I want to authorize. And NONE of the music is transferred.
So I went to check my account info to make sure it was authorized, and it said ONE computer was authorized. I thought this odd, since my original desktop computer (which has my full iTunes music library and plays and syncs with two iPods with no problem) would've been authorized... so I went to that desktop and tried to DEauthorize it, and was told that I couldn't because it wasn't authorized in the first place (which would explain why my account info said one authorized after doing my laptop). Does this make sense, that the desktop computer which I used to purchase all my iTunes msic and which works fine playing it and syncing to my two iPods would NOT have been authorized? ANYWAY, I then authorized this original desktop to see if it would change anything, and my account info did in fact change to say that now TWO computers are authorized, but when I went back to my laptop and re-attempted File -> Transfer purchases from Owner's iPod, I had the exact same problem (it says "not authorized"). I have also tried rebooting the laptop, as well as trying to do this with both of my iPods separately.
I am pulling my hair out! I don't have another external drive large enough to try to transfer the music files a different way, and really I should be able to use my iPod to do this for goodness' sake, right?!
Thanks for any help you can give!
    Jen

  • Itunes/front row Authorization Issue

THis is the first time i al very upset with an apple software. One week into the use of my new Macbook I was extremely thrilled to see the Front Row app running with the remote. I decided to import the mostly used Audio CDs that I have (originals) and imported them in MP3.
I hook up my Macbook to my home theater, sit down, use the neat little remote, and my music won't play
"Computer not authorized to play this track".
So now what? What can I do to play my tracks?
    Paul

You are trying to a play a track that was purchased from the iTunes store. Just open iTunes and try to play the track again. It will prompt you for the user name and password that were used when the track was purchased. It will then authorize playback on that computer and then should play fine.
Any tracks you import yourself from CDs don't need authorization.

  • Computer authorization issues

I authorized my computer (several times) but a song I purchased a couple years back is still saying it can't play unless authorized. Then it asks me to authorize it over again....and so on. Any suggestions?

Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

  • ITunes and computer authorization

Why, after authorizing my iMac with my iTunes account - can't I play a song in an iMovie project. The song moves to the project - but there is no sound

I had a similar problem. I can't answer the 'why' part of your question, but I solved my problem by burning the song to a cd, importing it, and using the imported version in my project.
    Good luck.

  • I backed up my movies and rebuild my computer, and after making sure i'm using the latest version of itunes and quicktime and and making sure i still had spare computer authorizations, i still get error 23132.  Please help.

I backed up my movies and rebuild my computer, and after making sure i'm using the latest version of itunes and quicktime and and making sure i still had spare computer authorizations, i still get error 23132.  Please help.

I had this exact issue.  Spent over an hour on the phone with apple support, they couldn't resolve.  Here is what I ended up doing, that worked.
    1.  Turned iTunes match off on all my iOS devices
    2.  Deleted the offending playlists from the iOS device they originated on
    3.  Started iTunes, let it run (literally) for an hour before it became responsive.  First thing I did, before clicking anywere else was disable iTunes match.  If I clicked anywhere, it would clock for another hour.
    4.  Let iTunes run overnight, by morning it had cleaned out the repeating play lists.  This got my Mac/iTunes back to an operable state.
    5.  Restore iPhones from backup in iTunes.
What was causing my issue was a single playlist that was created on an iPhone, then suddenly showed up with several thousand duplicates on my other iPhone.  The culprit playlist did not, for some reason, duplicate itself on my two iPads.  Apple support seemed to think it was because the problem iPhone tried to sync the playlist to iCloud over and over again unsuccessfully, then it finally went through and populated the thousands of blank/failed playlists which then tried to propigate to iTunes and my other iOS devices.  Seems like a reasonable theory.
I have not yet re-enabled iTunes match.  So, no idea what will happen if I decide to go back down that rabbit hole.

  • Need help with Itunes Authorization issue

I've been a Itunes/Ipod user for a couple years. During that time, I've sure spent over $500.00 on Itunes music from the Itunes store for my Ipod. My daugter and I both have Ipods.. There have only been 2 machines with Itunes installed here but I occasionally rebuild my computers to have the latest and greatest hardware for my business.. The other day I backed up all my music and data before rebuilding my machine due to hardware upgrades. Everything went smoothly including importing my purchased music back into Itunes.. The problem is I can't listen to it now. When I try to double click a song I get an error that says "You have already authorized 5 computers with this account. To authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers" This isn't possible because the computers aren't around anymore to deauthorize. They were all housed (except 1, my daughters pc) in the same case as I have now.. Please respond...

The other day I backed up all my music and data before rebuilding my machine due to hardware upgrades.
okay. you may have ended up with multiple authorisations on that PC due to the system changes. if so the following documents should be of some help with techniques for freeing up authorisations:

  • Confusion on iTunes Plus Files and Computer Authorization

I wonder if someone could help me alleviate some confusion surrounding iTunes plus files and computer authorizations.  I personally also have iTunes match on my account.
Reading online it appears that all iTunes Plus files do not not have DRM. I have this setup on my main iMac in my house. Now, I am copying music to my wife's laptop via home sharing. She is not using iTunes match because she has her own iTunes account. The home sharing is using her iTunes account. What is confusing me is that her laptop asking me to authorize the computer for playback of the audio files under my iTunes account. Why is this occuring if there is no DRM on the files?
I understand that I need to authorize machines for my iTunes match account, but these all should theoretically be DRM files that I am dragging and dropping via home sharing to her machine. Can anyone clarify what is going on in this situation?

Go to Store -> View Account. Log in to your account and click Purchase History. Then click Report a Problem. Then choose your upgrade purchase and explain your situation.

  • I had my computer repaired, and when I got it back I had to reinstall iTunes. Now iTunes won't authorize this computer because it says we already have 5 devices authorized, but this is the same computer. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Deauthorizing won't delete anything, and all your purchased content is safe.  You will just have to reauthorize any of the other computers that get deauthorized along with your computers old machine id.
To get your purchased content back on that computer, just use iTunes to redownload it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US).  Of course, music you ripped from CD or got from another source you'll need to copy those files back over.

  • ITunes computer authorization failure ( tried all fixes )

    Computer authrization problem in iTunes
Hi to all. I am having the common problem of computer authorization in iTunes, so i can't sync my iPad and transfer my purchases. I have read about all the "popular" fixes and none of them worked. I am listing them here for others to try ( google them for more info as i will not describe in detail ) :
    1. Delete the SC info folder ( Users/Shared)
Comments from my problem : I do NOT have an SC info file!
    2. Deauthorize/Reauthorize this or all computers and sign in again..
Comments from my problem : Did that, did not work.
    3. Uninstall and reinstall itunes
Comments from my problem : Did not try that. Any comments on that?
This is a real problem of the apple community and apple should do something about that, as we are paying gold to buy their products. The support should be faster. This has been going on for a while now.
    Thank you in advance,
    George
