Itunes 5 doesnt recognize the ipod

I have installed the new itunes version and now the computer does not recognize my ipod. i do not get an error message, nor does the ipod show up in itunes. once, i got a "found new hardware" message, i continued to install the "new hardware" but it reached a point that it could not find the information and told me to enter a disc, which of course i don't have. i tried to search the forum but wasn't finding this problem. any help? or could you direct me to another post? THANKS

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
We'd better check on that, kris. If you enable iTunes in your Windows firewall, does that help with your connection? See the following document for instructions:

I just got an iPod touch 4th generation. When I plug the USB into the computer, the iPod does not recognize the charge and the computer/iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod. Please help.

The computer I am referring to is a Windows. However, when I use the same USB cord and plug it into a MacBook Pro, the ipod is recognized and the ipod recognizes the computer. Also, it gets charge from the Wall outlet as well.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I cannot sync my ipod touch with itunes. Itunes does not recognize the ipod when the Touch is connected to my computer. I called Tech support and they suggested I uninstall itunes and reinstall it. I did that and still have the same result. Any other suggestions? dianafromhelena
