Itunes + 5th gen ipod
Since installing the itunes 9.0.3 update, I cannot sync my 60gb ipod - it recognises it for a few seconds then the 'do not disconnect' thing disappears. It is also not appearing in'my computer'. Tried disk mode which gets it recognised but still fails to solve the sync problem. I am also unsure as to whether itunes has installed properly as the page is headed itunes library.xml instead of just itunes. I feel this may be a key but am a loss as to what to do about it.
A MIRACLE HAS HAPPENED!! After weeks of being unable to sync and for the verdammte Maschine to be recognised, it synced. I simply used another usb connection on the back of my computer - as simple as. Not normally so thick, but as the old connection was charging it up, I didn't think the USB was the prob. Slash is now on the pod! Prefer Dommin though!! thanks all those who read the original post and I hope what happened here may help someone in the same predicament.

5th Gen iPod, seen by Windoze, not by iTunes
I've been too busy lately to hang out keep up with the iTunes 7 issues, but I still have to stop the iPod service, attach my iPod, start iTunes/start the service every time I want to sync. Is there any hope that this is a temporary condition or is this just how it's gonna be from now on? iTunes 7, 5th Gen iPod w/1.2 software, XP Pro SP2.

I have a 5th gen iPoc Touch. In the past, with the Classic, I could drag and drop from my iTunes music to a Classic playlist through iTunes. Now, the playlist I create in iTunes doesn't show on the Touch. I have maybe 29 GB of music on my Touch. I have already created playlists in iTunes that have substantial amounts of songs in each. How can I get those playlists on the Touch without doing a total sync that wipes the iPod? Is there a way to do it?
As well, I am noticing here that my 5th gen iPod doesn't show as a registered device. How do I register it?For how to sync see:

5th Gen iPod Touch w. iOS 7 not recognized by iTunes 11.1
On Wednesday I updated my 5th gen iPod Touch to iOS 7, and ran the latest iTunes 11.1 update on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5.
For two days, everything worked fine, but today, when I plug in my fully charged iPod it is not recognized by iTunes.
Some salient facts:
1. My iPod shuffle is recognized by iTunes without problem when I plug it in to any USB port on my Mac.
2. I tried all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions - restarted iPod and computer, tried connecting to different USB ports on my Mac.
3. My iPod touch will still charge when plugged in to my Mac.

It didn't occur to me to suspect that my still-new, Apple-brand cable went bad the same week Apple released two major software updates. -
I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod. They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod. All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large. For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large. Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

ITunes 7.3.2 (OSX) and 5th Gen iPod not synching
I have had my 5th gen iPod (30GB) for about 2 years now and originally had used it with Windows, then I switched over to a Mac in Feb and have been pretty happy. Normally i synch my iPod daily to get my playlists updated (so I don't listen to the same thing all the time) and so I can get new Podcasts that were downloaded. Before I left for work this morning, I was able to synch my iPod with no problem, when I was about to synch it before I went to bed, it will not synch. When I try to put in the iPod, iTunes then crashes. I try to put in the iPod and let iTunes open automatically, it loads then crashes again. I have rebooted both the Mac and did a reset on my iPod, but can't even perform a restore since before iTunes would pop up the iPod section, it crashes first. it IS mac formatted. i don't know what is going on and what chnged from this morning to this evening and why suddenly it doesn't work.
Anyone have any suggestions?I deleted both iTunes and Quicktime7, emptied the trash, restarted, then reinstalled QT then iTunes. Still getting the same issue. Still "crashing" when the iPod is connected.

ITunes crashes when connected to 5th gen iPod, not other iPods
iTunes 6.0.1 crashes EVERY time it starts up with the new 5th gen iPod. Works fine with other iPods, or no iPod at all. Reinstalled iTunes and restored to version 1.0 iPod form the 11-17-2005 iPod updater. Reset nvram, fixed disk permissions, rebooted. Nothing works. iTunes will not run with the 5th gen iPod. Period.

My 5th gen ipod-nano is connected - visual and accessible on new version of itunes (using PC, running Win 7) yet will not sync. This only started happening after the last update from apple and I have spent HOURS trying to figure out how to fix including removing all apple apps and software and reinstalling 6 times now!!! Even when a diagnoses is run it shows my ipod is connected yet when I try to sync.. it tells me that disk is not found?
Well, nothing has worked yet. Same Itunes account. When I try to download from the App Store app on the touch, I downloads all the way to the end of the loading... installing phases. then says, "Unable to Downlad Application: app will be available for download when you log in to the Itunes Store on your computer."
But Itunes on the computer will do the same thing... load it all the way up, then give an error code of OxE8003FFE.
I tried restoring the Ipod, so now it only has the factory apps, music, videos, and no apps. And I can't add even one app. -

Two weeks ago purchased music with no problems; sync'ed library w/iPod w/no problems.
Purchased music a few days ago- no problems. Started iTunes today to sync iPod and got msg saying registry values missing for certain drivers for burning discs, etc. Cause could be from other programs that burn discs etc.(???)
Plugged in iPod, got the tone beep and then a message that iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod attached. Disconnect and reattach. Did this several times - still doesn't work. I can play tunes from my iTunes library and my iPod OK - just can't sync them up. Anyone got a solution??
Thanks, Unicorn39Well,after digging into the 1000's of msgs regarding problems similar to mine I found something I thought might help at (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538). I teied it and found that my drivers were OK so that wasn't the problem. While trying things I suddenly got the iPod recognized and it started sync'ing. I think the solution to my issue was to connect the iPod first; wait for it to be recognized by the pc (the tone beep) then go thru the acceptance of iTunes agreement, etc., iTunes then opened and the sync process began. I tried it with iTunes open and it won't work. It sounds like a hokey way to do it but at least I have my library and iPod in sync.
My next problem to work on is there seems to be registry problem with iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's. Got to figure that out and fix.
Since I do have CopyTrans I may just re-install a back-level of iTunes and copy my iPod into the new iTunes library.

5th gen iPod lost and will not play videos after connecting to iTunes
I have a 5th gen iPod. When last connecting to iTunes, videos and movies disappeared. Purchased a new movie that iTunes says was compatible with 5th gen, movie won't transfer to iPod. My settings state that I will manually manage videos and music. Performed all 5 "R"s and iPod still won't accept movies "...can't be played on this iPod"

5th Gen iPod and 2nd gen Nano will connect to Mac, not found by iTunes
I bought a brand new MacBook running OSX 10.4.9, and I cannot get my 5th gen iPod video nor my 2nd gen Nano to be recognized by iTunes. The computer recognizes that there are two drives-- they come up on the desktop. But iTunes will not notice them, let alone play music from them. These iPods are mostly used with Windows 2000 PC laptops, and I'm connecting them via USB.
What should I do?

I have 5th gen iPod classic and although it is recognised by my windows vista software within the "computer" tab. iTunes does not see it. I have totally reset my iPod and reloaded the iTunes software on my PC (which actually sorted my issues with mt 32gb touch) but to no avail.

NNothing has changed frlom when it worked on Saturday to it not working on Sunday! The iPod does not appear in iTunes on either my laptop or my PC. The iPod appears to be fully functional, the wheel works and the date/time etc is all correct. However, it is empty of all music and videos. It was almost full (give or take 10 gb)
The display on the iPod says connected! Is there a setting on it which changes it from an iPod to a disc drive? Other than that, I can see what's wrong.
Everything is working perfectly apart from it's deleted all my stuff and the PC only sees it as an external hard drive?
