ITunes 6.0.1 crashes after viewing Lyrics in Get Info
I can view all tabs in the Get Info window EXCEPT Lyrics.
If I select the Lyrics tab and then hit "Cancel" iTunes shuts down immediately. If I select OK after viewing the Lyrics tab, iTunes shuts down as soon as I perform any other action in the application (i.e select another song to view, play, etc.) BTW: It doesn't matter if there are lyrics in the input field or not. It also doesn't matter if I change or add any information in the Lyrics input field.)
Here's what I've tried:
- I deleted the .plist in Preferences. Didn't help.
- I deleted the iTunes_Library file and the iTunesMusicLibrary.xml file and rebuilt my library from scratch. Didn't help.
- I did all of the above and downloaded and reinstalled iTunes 6.0.1(3).
All to no avail. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?

Hallelujah! Askjeevs nailed it! I am running W8.1 and just got an iPhone 6. Every time I tried to sync my 6 and restore it to the backup of my old 4S it would get through the 4 steps of the initial restore. I would get contacts, email accts, etc okay but as soon as it started step 5, copying Apps I would get this exact crash. My wife had no problem on her desktop restoring the phone. The difference was my iTunes library was stored on her desktop to save space on my laptop, and I was using my library through our home network.
After moving my library back to an external drive plugged directly into my laptop with a USB cable, and redirecting iTunes to use that library, voila! its syncing just fine!
Spent an hour on the phone with Apple this morning and they couldn't get me there. I found this while waiting for their callback but it took me several more hours to get it all configured properly.

i have about 800 more songs on my nano than itunes, due to a crash. How can I get the songs onto itunes from the ipod, or at least get the new music ive gotten since the crash onto my ipod without deleting all the other songs when it syncs?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases -

ITunes 6.0.3 crashing after upgrade from 6.0.2
The update process worked ok (message during install to close iTunes - did so then completed).
After a reboot (due to 10.4.5 update at same time) iTunes keeps crashing after about 30mins. It doesn't matter what the source is - iPod, hard-drive, copied music, purchased music.
I have submitted the report to apple and will post here when it happens again.
Anyone getting the same error? Not sure then. Might be worth trying to fix the permissions from the OSX install CD. Boot into the Cd and choose utilities-disk utility. In there is a function to check/fix permissions.
If that doesn't work, try moving your iTunes music library, then point iTunes to the new location. This should rule out any sharing issues. -
Itunes 10.6.1 crashing after update
Itunes had been running fine after the 10.6 update. I applied the update to 10.6.1 (as every good apple customer should) and now Itunes crashes everytime about 30 seconds into starting the program.
I tried starting in safe mode with the same results. Unfortunaly i don't see a easy way to downgrade on my macbook pro to an older version now and i can't seem to get this working after researching on the internet and apple boards. I have posted the partial dump below, but i am without my itunes

ITUNES 10 for Mac crashes after any install
All,
Pardon my French, but Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!?!?
Has anyone had a problem with the latest v of iTUNES? I have downloaded the update now 3x, and after opening, each time it closes right after the open attempt. It basically crashes.
Thank God for Time Machine... As I've restored to a previous version of iTUNES 3 times.I have the same issue. iTunes 10.2.2 crashes shortly after starting. I have an IMAC 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running Mac OS X 10.5.8. Have uninstalled and installed several times to no avail. I get this info in the report:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)

Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue? -
ITunes 10.6.1 crashes after update
Hello there!
I'm running iTunes on a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7 Enterprise.
Today I updated to 10.6.1 and now iTunes freezes as soon as I click on any song. (I get the message "iTunes has stopped working", and the only option is to close it down.) I looked around and found that some suggested to download the update directly from the site, so I did that, with the "repair" option. Nothing. Everthing looks fine, but it freezes immediately.
I don't know what my previous version was. I don't use iTunes all that often, only to update my iPod and iPhone when I get new music. I imported some music today (and all was fine and just like normal), but then I decided to upgrade the software before syncing. Now I have the music, but can't listen to it. Sigh.
What do I do now? I could uninstall iTunes completely, I guess, but would prefer to just uninstall the update, if possible.
I'm not very "techy", so be patient.@orthorad1
I had the same issue with my iTunes 10.6.1 hanging when i was trying to sync with my iPhone. I'd plug in my iphone and itune would just hang, and the only way to get out was to force quit the application. After numerous attempts at completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, the resolution that i found was to go to the "~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices" directory and rename the "local" file to "local.bak". After a relaunch of iTunes, I was able to sync once more. I hope this helps. -
Has ITunes changed its editing feature for songs, etc.? I just purchased a few songs and found that I could not edit them using the "Get Info" feature. The information is greyed out and does not allow editing. Among other things, I usually like to eliminate the word "THE" from group names for easier alphabetizing in my library. Thanks for any help.
Check permissions and ownership of the files. Maybe this helps....

Time Machine Running Very Slow After Repairing Permission under "get info"
Hi,
I have a timemachine backup external hard drive which had permissions problem (perhaps this is because I crossed over from 10.5 to 10.6 at some point?) When I enter timemachine some files had that red minus sign beside it and told me "you don't have permission to access its content", and this problem was not with all files but with some of files and folders scattered all over my backed up 500GB data.
This created a problem and i wasn't gonna go in and open "get info" for each folder and go under sharing & permissions to manually fix it to read & write (and I believe some files didn't even allow me to do this)
Now here is the real concern. What I did without thinking is I right clicked on the external hard drive in the finder and opened the "get info" window and went down to the sharing and permissions. At first I fixed all privileges to "read & write" by unlocking the lock, but this still didn't fix all restrictions on accessing files and folders.
So instead I clicked on the icon which appears to be a "gear" and selected the "apply to enclosed items" and ran this operation on my whole 2TB hard drive. This of course took over 12 hours as far as I can remember. And I think in some forum it said this can create a problem? (Granting permissions to some system related files which can cause critical problems perhaps)
I also think this action I took has caused the time machine external hard drive to run slow in almost every way. My question I guess is, is there a way to revert my action of clicking on the gear and running the "apply to enclosed items"? Or perhaps another fix?
I have no idea on how to go onwards from here and worried that if I continue using this all-permissions-altered 2TB hard drive that it will create a huge problem in the future.
Any advise from senior members and/or members who encountered such situations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
NorioDo not attempt to change the permissions on your backups.

Song order in itunes is out of order, can't fix with get info as apple suggests
I recently got a new 160gb Ipod and noticed when i synced with my itunes library that a lot of my albums are out of order. looked around trying to fix myself, but the suggestion to go to 'get info' tab and fix song order is not working. Noticed that the date on a lot of the albums is 1969 despite the fact that they are newer albums

I've mostly seen that show up on XP systems to date.
Some systems aren't liking the 4.0.0.3207 version of the dll that comes with Apple Application Support version 1.5. One workaround has been to swap out the dll for the version 4.0.0.3205 that came with Apple Application Support version 1.4.1.
Ona Vista system, we might be able to find a shadow copy of the relevant version of the dll and revert to that.
*If you have any version of Vista other than Home Premium:*
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
Open the "Program Files" folder.
Open the "Common Files" folder.
Open the "Apple" folder.
Open the "Apple Application Support" folder.
Right-click on the icuuc40.dll file and select "Properties".
Go into the "Previous versions" tab. Wait for it to search for previous versions.
Is there a version 4.0.0.3205 available? If so, revert to that. With the 4.0.0.3205 in place, can you launch itunes now?
*If you have Vista Home Premium:*
Although Vista Home Premium takes shadow copies of files, it doesn't include a user interface for accessing them. So we can't use the previous versions tab method to get access to them. However, you could use a utility like ShadowExplorer to look for a version 4.0.0.3205 of the dll and replace the dll using that.

Itunes 9.0.2 crash after moving library to external HD - gathering informat
Hello!
Strange stuff going on - but probably because i did something wrong
To give a quick overview : i bought an external HD (LaCie) to store my music library that was getting too big (45 GB) for the small internal HD on my Macbook. I changed the location in my preferences and later on itunes started copying the songs/videos/apps to the HD. The change of location was not immediately accepted. i had to do it a few times before itunes kept the new location. I checked if the new location was working by deconnecting/reconnecting my external drive. Indeed, everything worked. But when i closed itunes and restarted something went wrong.... Genius seems to make itunes crash - it always says : gathering information about your library (and then it stops halfway and itunes crashes). Maybe i have to do everything all over again but i don't know how as itunes keeps on crashing and i cannot change anything anymore.Hello!

ITunes 10.3.1 crashing after video plays
This does not happen every time, but frequently enough to be a pain. I am to the point of avoiding playing videos now as when it crashes, it stops responding and I must go and end the program manually through the Task Manager.
I am running Win 7, 64 bitand have a fairly new computer, so it should not be an issue of old hardware.
Any suggestions appreciated.
ThanksDitto happening to me as well.
