Itunes 6.0.1 tries to go to music store on startup

How do I keep itunes from trying to go to the music store when I plug my iphone into the computer? There must be settings somewhere but I sure can't fine them.
I only use itunes to load an occasional photo onto my phone. I don't have any interest in the rest of it other than an app or two but I can do those on my phone.

I must be the only person with an iPhone who just wants a phone. Well, it was worth a try. Thanks anyway, pards. When my contract runs out, I'll try the new Nokia.

  • ITunes 9.0.2 Crashes Trying to Access iTunes Music Store on Startup

    HI, everyone,
I installed iTunes 9.0.2 today in preparation for an iPhone software upgrade, but iTunes freezes 100% of the time just after it starts up and tries to access the iTunes Music Store. There's a bit of activity in the progress bar when iTunes first starts, and then the progress bar for accessing the store shows half way finished and the program crashes (every time).
I've reinstalled, rebooted, removed and replaced the preference files and my library, all to no avail.
I'm running WinXP Pro SP 3, patches all up to date, but now I can't access my library on my computer nor can I upgrade my iPhone.
Others of you have had similar problems; one of you reported a "parental control" issue with CA security suite. I have Trend Micro and can't find any parental controls to deal with.
I have IE 8 installed but use Firefox 3.0.15.
This has been a horrible day. I have many papers to grade for my college classes and expected the installation to go smoothly (as the ones in the past have; iTunes 8 worked great).
    Please help!

    Hi, b noir,
    No, I'm afraid I don't have Nod32 installed. I wish I did--maybe a simple fix!
I'm working from home using the laptop the school supplied me. It's a domain machine, and Trend Micro's OfficeScan is installed but it's offline (though it seems to be working). The Windows firewall is disabled, probably because of the school's antivirus installation, so there doesn't seem to be a setting I can access.
I'd guess something on my machine is forcing iTunes to free as it starts to access the Music Store. My heart just sinks every time I start iTunes (dozens of times today), only to see it freeze solid every single time I open it.

  • ITunes suddenly crashes when trying to play purchased music

Everything's been OK (other than iTunes randomly rebuilding my music library every week or so...) I download a song from the music store. It attempts to import it and crashes. I manually find the song and drop it into iTunes, it crashes. I won't even import it. I try to play ANY purchased music, it crashes. I can play non-purchased aac and mp3 files just fine. I'm running itunes 6.0.1

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that i've also trashed my old iTunes and re-installed, and trashed the prefs.

  • '500 Internal Server Error' when trying to connect to Music Store

Does ANYBODY at Apple CARE that I've been writing posts for 2 WEEKS trying to get an answer to the reason why I can't connect to the Music Store? This is absurd!
Since upgrading to iTunes 6.0.3 (and now 6.0.5), I get a 'Music Store termporarily unavailable' message. I have the same PC, OS, and ISP that I've used to buy hundreds of dollars worth of your music - but since upgrading - I'm dead in the water. Norton is set to PERMIT i-tunes - but I get the same problem with Norton turned OFF.
When trying to connect to the Music Store via the following URL: phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/storeFront
as suggested in other posts, I get a "Error 500 Internal Server Error" - which according to my ISP and Microsoft is on APPLE'S Server - not my end.

Check whether your DBControl or ASControl service is still running or crashed. EM is not able to connect to the Management Server.
For instance in Windows, you may see that the Servise is not started. Then check for error logs in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/logs for any related error messages in the log files

  • I just got a lot of new music in my iTunes library and I tried to sync the music to my iphone and after it syncs about 10-13 songs it says canceling sync and that happens every time I have tried everything I need help

    Hello there, Savagejacob.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for unexpected disconnects of your iOS device when syncing:
iOS: Troubleshooting USB-related alerts when syncing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5254
    Check connections
Try the following steps to check the connection between your device or computer. You might need to do only one of these steps to resolve the issue, so test your connection after each step.
See if the cable connection at the device or computer has come loose or unplugged.
Unplug the cable you're using to connect your iOS device from the USB port on your computer, and then reconnect it. Then unplug it from your iOS device, and reconnect it.
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead.
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
    Restart your computer.
Restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you have not already.
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • When I plug in my phone and/or iPad, the "devices" don't show up in iTunes. I'm trying to sync my music from my iPad to my phone and I've tried everything and nothing is happening.

Right now, my iPad is plugged into my desktop PC via USB cable. Shouldn't there be a "Devices" tab in the top right corner next to "Library?" Either way, under File>Devices, I can't sync or do anything (see image). This is my first time using this computer because I managed to break my laptop over the weekend and just got my iPhone 4 today. My iPad, I got last Christmas and had connected to my laptop, and now, on the actual iPad, when I go to Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, I can't click "Sync Now" and it says "Sync will resume when "Insert Laptop Name Here" is available." Sooooo.... all I really wanna do is get my music and maybe some pictures from iPad onto my phone.
*Note: I have my iCloud set up, and I guess it seems to be working fine, it just doesn't include music or photos.

    Hello Isiahjammal,
So after a backup your iPhone was acting like it was restored and now your PC won't even see it?
Please go through this article for steps to take for that.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
Of course step through it in order.
    Take care,

  • W7  Have itunes on PC.  Tried to import a music CD.  Error:

The error message:  Registry setting used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVD are missing.  Could be the result of using other CD burning software.  I also have an HP program Cyberlink DVD suite that I use.  It seems I can only use one.  What do I do to continue to have access to itunes? Would I have to reinstall it? How?  What would that do to the Cyberlink program?

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at some of the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • HT201272 I lost my itunes library, now i tried to retrieve the music i purchased from apple and i am only getting part of it!

Cant retrieve the music i purchased from apple videos etc,
I called cust service she want me to pay 49 us dollars for a tech support I told her i dont need tech support i do need my files that i purchased available for download, she insisted I hang up.
I need help from you guys, I am student full time so no extra cash to pay for apple bills.
    regards

    Sue,
I recommend an external drive to maintain your music.  All your purchases are held in iCloud...so redownloading should be easy.  Also, Home sharing is a great way to transfer to a new computer, but in the case of hard drive failure your options are limited.  Home sharing is specifically for transferring to another pc.  Good luck!

  • My itunes won't display any songs in the music store!

my ittunes won't show any songs in the store underneath the album info! HERE'S A PIC.

I am having the same problem. Why do we keep using Apple when their support is so pitiful? You cannot contact Apple about problems. Hopefully they will eventually correct the problem. Good Luck.

  • ITunes opens in a Japanese version of the Music Store

How can I get back to the American version?

    Open the Music store.
Scroll down to the very bottom of the screen and select the country you want.

  • HT1473 my computer crashed and i have a new computer with new itunes, i am trying to get my music from my old iphone 4 into the library but as soon as i unplug the phone it no longer appears in the library

my computer crashed so i have a new itunes and i am trying to put my music from my old phone into itunes, it doesnt transfer only shows up when my phone is plugged in?

The iphone is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You shouldcopy everything from your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.  This one of the main reasons it has laways been very basic to always maintain a abckup copy of your computer.

  • Trying to access Music Store and iTunes shuts down...

I've been trying to open the Music Store for days with no luck. I get an error message "The exception Privileged instruction 0xc0000096 occurred in the application at location 0x1003527a" and when I click "ok" iTunes closes abruptly. Sometimes I don't even get the error message and iTunes just closes during the "Accessing Music Store" screen. This is very frustrating as I have done all the posted fixes from Apple. (disabled Norton, unistalled/reinstalled iTunes 6) It's not my ISP because another computer can access it from my wireless network. This came on suddenly with no apparent changes in my hardware/software configuration.(been working fine for 1 year)
    Please Help!
Dell Dimension 5100   Windows XP Pro

    hiya!
you've got a standard 32-bit version. the x64 version has an "x64" mentioned in that screen. for a little more info on that, see:
    http://www.ittvis.com/services/techtip.asp?ttid=4040
i was checking, because the error message you were getting was very similar to one folks can get if they've got a problem with their QuickTime on an x64 PC. itunes needs a functioning QT to work correctly, and a broken QT can cause problems with viewing the Music Store too.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)
    love, b

  • Getting error in iTunes 7 when trying to open music store =(((((

When trying to open the music store in iTunes 7 I get this message: "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store, Make sure your network connection is active and try again" Help would be appreciated.

most commen thing will be your firewall
when you updated itunes your firewall will come up telling you that the program has been modified and needs you to allow it again to connect
therefor check your firewall disable it to start with then try reconnecting then if that works you can enable your firewall and look in the prog application list to add or allow itunes to work
this also includes disabling the windows firewall (found in the control pannel of windows xp with sp2 only)
