ITunes 6.0.4.2 changes characters & adds squares to names, etc.?

I have many Spanish songs that have accents and the letter ñ. The English version 6.0.4.2 changes and adds squares to some names, artists, and albums.
I don't want to load the Spanish version. This didn't happen before with earlier vesions

by way of experiment, try changing the display language in your itunes:
iTunes: Changing the display language in Windows
are you still seeing the strange non-printing characters when you do that?

You can add a card, or you can ask iTS to zero-out that balance. but you'll lose it.

Did you try setting itunes to run with administrator privileges?
Since I changed that I no longer have this issue

Tried to install newest itunes, crashed during install, and now crashes my computer every time i try to uninstall. Itunes doesn't show up in the Add/remove prog list at all. tried to roll back over a month, still crashing.

So I tried to update to the newest Itunes. It locked up my computer part way thru the install. Black screen, computer turned itself off. Now anytime i try to do anything with Itunes it shuts my computer down. I can start up fine in safe mode but when i try to uninstall from there, Itunes doesn't exist. the other apple programs do, but no itunes. when i try to uninstall the other programs in safe mode it tells me it can't because the windows installer isn't loaded. I have system restored to over a month ago and itunes still doesn't show up in add/remove programs. however, i can open itunes. it just tells me a file didn't get installed and to uninstall and reinstall. So, how do i remove a progam that doesn't think it exists and crashes my computer when i try to do anything related to it??? I'm out of ideas. running windows vista.

I think my problem is fixed now.
For the fun of it, I reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 today (using the exact same installer as I did yesterday), but this time I didn't uninstall iTunes first. As expected, iTunes recognized my iPhone (as I expected it to, until my next reboot).
A few minutes later, Software Update showed up and among the updates is "iPhone SDK Compatibility Update". The description indicates that installing this should fix an issue where iPhones and iPod touches aren't recognized by iTunes. Isn't that interesting?
I installed that update and most of the others waiting for me (including Java, Safari 5.0.1, and a few others - not 10.6.4 though, due to the issues with nVidia graphics cards). After the reboot, I started iTunes, and it saw my iPhone!
So, if you're having this same problem, I'd recommend tracking down this update and see if that does the trick for you. Hopefully it will.

Solved the problem. I had to allow cookies for safari and it run - as here: Re: itunes keeps asking for my apple id password. it's NOT entered incorrectly.

TS1717 iTunes "Terms and Conditions Have Changed Before you can proceed you must accept the terms and conditions" is on an infinite loop. No matter how many times I agree, when I go to update my apps the terms and conditions have changed link reappears.

Can anyone help me? Suddenly (i.e. just a few minutes ago) this problem has appeared. I attempted to update two apps on my iPad. The Terms and Conditions agreement comes up, I read the terms and conditions, I agree to them, I click AGREE, it disappears, I reclick on update and the Terms and Conditions agreement appears and we start the mobius strip all over again. I tried to see if it was just on my iPad by trying to download a new app on my iPhone. same problem. Anyone have advice on how to resolve this issue? I updated the software on my iphone4 tonight and ran into this same endless loop - "itunes terms & conditions have been changed" - go to itunes, aceept - back to the "T&C have been changed message" with no ability to do anything in the app store until I accepted the new terms.
While not a very direct solution, I was able to finally accept the terms in a way that seem to register with apple by making a purchase through iTunes on my computer. This forced me through updating my payment information and updating my iTunes software to the latest edition (which I had not yet taken the time to do). After doing both of these, iTunes took me through the terms & conditions on two separate pages, but ultimately allowed me to purchase my song. Once I completed these steps, it fixed the problem on my phone, so now I can update my apps and download new ones without running into that loop.

settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
You can't merge apple id.

You cannot.
By Design the iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

Your email address has changed or is invalid -iTunes won't let me change it

Help. I've tried everything including logging a request with Apple iTunes support - through the usual means, filling out the online request form. Still to no avail.
The story goes like this, I changed my ISP about three weeks ago. I'm pretty sure my registered email address was the one from my old ISP. Oops!
So I go to buy an App or Music from iTunes, it tells me that my account has changed and I should view and change my details.
I go ahead and enter my valid email address. Press Done. No verification email arrives in my account. Nothing in the junk mail either.
No matter what I do, no matter which of my valid email addresses I enter - I have two. I can't get iTunes to accept my email change.
I have logged two requests for assistance now - with great replies of Apple Support Staff telling me how important I am and how my issue will be fixed ASAP. But, nothing yet. It's been almost a week. Getting quite disappointed with Apple iTunes support.

I am having this problem too. I recently changed ISP b/c I wanted the iPhone, so I had to update my iTunes username to my Gmail account.
In fact, I logged in HERE using it as my new Apple Id... so it works!
But for some **** reason that is driving me nuts my iPhone will not connect to the iTunes store using my new Apple Id. It keeps saying my email has changed or is invalid and asks me to sign in to change it. So I do that, and it lets me in USING MY NEW Apple ID!!!! Then I go back out to the buy the App and the madness starts all over.
Come on Apple, do you want me to buy your apps, or what?

All apps are tied to the apple id that it was used to purchase or download the app.
did you use a different id to buy the app?
you can change id, settings - appstore - apple id - log out and log in with correct id.
