ITunes 6.0 and invalid billing address

I recently upgraded to iTunes 6.0. Now every time I try and purchase music iTunes tells me I have an invalid billing address. This is the same address I have been at for 5 years, and using for iTunes for 3. I tired the email support but just got the generic email back. iPod customer support verifies that my address is fine but they have no involvement with iTunes customer support. Does anyone have a way to contact a live person in iTunes customer support? Anyone else have this issue?

OK, Now I'm downloading. I changed the county to that which my city center is in (Yamhill), despite that my HOUSE is in a different county (Washington).
Thank you for the tips.

  • What are valid and invalid email address characters

What are valid and invalid email address characters in Exchange 2010, for example can you have Conan.O'[email protected] is there a document that shows the valid and invalid sysmbols?

    Hi
The format of email addresses is
local-part@domain where the local-part may be up to 64 characters long and the
    domain name may have a
maximum of 253 characters - but the maximum 256 characters length of a forward or reverse path restricts the entire email address to be no more than 254 characters.[1]
The formal definitions are in RFC 5322 (sections 3.2.3
and 3.4.1) and RFC 5321 - with a more readable form given in
    the informational RFC 3696[2]
    and the associated errata.
    Local part
The local-part of the email address may use any of these
    ASCII characters
    RFC 5322 Section
    3.2.3:
Uppercase and lowercase English letters (a–z, A–Z) (ASCII: 65-90, 97-122)
    Digits
    0 to
    9 (ASCII: 48-57)
    Characters
    !#$%&'*+-/=?^_`{|}~ (ASCII: 33, 35-39, 42, 43, 45, 47, 61, 63, 94-96, 123-126)
    Character
. (dot, period, full stop) (ASCII: 46) provided that it is not the first or last character, and
provided also that it does not appear two or more times consecutively (e.g. [email protected] is not allowed.).
Special characters are allowed with restrictions. They are:
    o
    Space and
    "(),:;<>@[\] (ASCII: 32, 34, 40, 41, 44, 58, 59, 60, 62, 64, 91-93)
The restrictions for special characters are that they must only be used when contained between quotation marks, and that 3 of them (The
    space, backslash \ and
quotation mark " (ASCII: 32, 92, 34)) must also be preceded by a backslash
    \ (e.g.
A quoted string may exist as a dot separated entity within the local-part, or it may exist when the outermost quotes are the outermost characters of the local-part
    (e.g. abc."defghi"[email protected] or
    "abcdefghixyz"@example.com are allowed. Conversely,
abc"defghi"[email protected] is not; neither is
abc\"def\"[email protected]). Quoted strings and characters however, are not commonly used.
    RFC 5321 also
warns that "a host that expects to receive mail SHOULD avoid defining mailboxes where the Local-part requires (or uses) the Quoted-string form".
The local-part "postmaster" is treated specially - it is case-insensitive, and should be forwarded to the server's administrator. Technically all other local-parts
are case sensitive, therefore [email protected] and [email protected] specify different mailboxes. However most organizations treat uppercase and lowercase letters as equivalent, and also do not allow use of the technically valid characters
(space, ? and ^). Organizations are free to restrict the forms of their own email addresses as desired, e.g.,
    Windows Live Hotmail,
for example, only allows creation of email addresses using alphanumerics, dot (.), underscore (_)
    and hyphen (-).[3]
Systems that send mail must be capable of handling outgoing mail for all valid addresses. Contrary to the relevant standards, some defective systems treat certain
legitimate addresses as invalid and fail to handle mail to these addresses. Hotmail, for example, refuses to send mail to any address containing any of the following standards-permissible characters:
    !#$%*/?^`{|}~
    Domain part
The domain name part of an email address has to conform to strict guidelines: it must match the requirements for a
    hostname,
consisting of letters, digits, hyphens and dots. In addition, the domain part may be an
    IP address
literal, surrounded by square braces, such as jsmith@[192.168.2.1], although this is rarely seen except
    in email spam.
    Examples
    Valid email addresses
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>much."more\ unusual"@example.com</tt>
    <tt>very.unusual."@"[email protected]</tt>
    <tt>very."(),:;<>[]".VERY."very@\\\ \"very"[email protected]</tt>
    Invalid email addresses
<tt>Abc.example.com</tt> (an @ character must separate the local and domain parts)
<tt>[email protected]</tt> (character dot(.) is last in local part)
<tt>[email protected]</tt> (character dot(.) is double)
<tt>A@b@[email protected]</tt> (only one @ is allowed outside quotation marks)
<tt>a"b(c)d,e:f;g<h>i[j\k][email protected]</tt> (none of the special characters in this local part
    is allowed outside quotation marks)
<tt>just"not"[email protected]</tt> (quoted strings must be dot separated, or the only element making
    up the local-part)
<tt>this is"not\[email protected]</tt> (spaces, quotes, and backslashes may only exist when within
quoted strings and preceded by a slash)
<tt>this\ still\"not\\[email protected]</tt> (even if escaped (preceded by a backslash), spaces, quotes,
and backslashes must still be contained by quotes)

  • HT1918 I am a US citizen now residing in Poland. My bank accounts are in the US and my billing address has been changed to my Polish address. Now I can't use these US credit/bank cards on itunes for purchase (for both US and Polish itunes accounts). ???

Any ideas about how I can be allowed to make purchases in itunes again? TIA

Expanding on what RG said, you need a credit card issued by a bank in the country in which you are and that has its billing address there. Since your credit card was issued by a US bank but has a Polish billing address, that card will not be usable in either the US or Polish iTunes Store. If you reside now in Poland, then as RG said you will need to get a card issued by a Polish bank with a Polish billing address. Or, if Apple offers prepaid iTunes cards in Poland (you cannot use cards issued in another country), you could use those.
    Regards.

  • Roadrunner/cwmx and Invalid sender address problems

I have spent hours trying to fix problem with Road Runner email when not connected to rr via wifi.
Background: rr doesn't allow smtp outgoing if you aren't connected to their cable. Thus you have to be on wifi from your cable router. So, many folks turn on ATT cwmx.com smtp server to send mail when on 3G or Edge. iPhone email is supposed to try next smtp server if first one fails. But when sending mail many folks are getting "Invalid sender address" error message.
I had thought the error message was coming from cwmx but now think that it is coming from road runner's smtp server and the iPhone is not going on to the next smtp server, i.e. cwmx.com.
Maybe this is the problem/bug. I know there are some other bugs in iPhone mail app. For example I have 4 smtp servers showing in "Other SMTP servers" all with the same address and there is no way to delete the duplicates.

It is usually the ISP being used for the internet connection with the SMTP server restriction.
Most, if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or that isn't provided by the ISP) unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
Most ISPs don't provide/support an authenticated SMTP server, and Time Warner is one of them. If TW provided/supported an authenticated SMTP server for RoadRunner accounts, using RR's SMTP server wouldn't be an issue regardless the internet connection.
I access my MobileMe account and a business POP account with the iPhone's Mail client. Both accounts have an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had a problem sending with either account regardless my internet connection - via numerous wi-fi connections with different ISPs or via EDGE with my first generation iPhone, or via 3G or EDGE with my iPhone 3G.
These restrictions are in place as a part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.

  • My iTunes refuses to confirm my billing address!

I have entered all of my billing inquiries correctly, but it is still stating "We couldn't verify your address. Make sure you have entered it correctly" blah blah blah! WHAT IS GOING ON! I don't want to pay for Apple to decide what is wrong.

When I launch the app it launches but when it tries to download anything, or if I try to do anything that requires connection to the store it just waits endlessly. After a very long while I get a message saying I should check my internet connection.
    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Wireless-G Router and Invalid IP Address Problem

Hello!  I have just installed a Belkin card into my son’s computer (WinXP) and then installed a Linksys Wireless-G router to our main computer (also XP).  The main computer accesses the internet fine via the router, and my son’s computer is showing that the router and Belkin card are working, but I’m getting an “invalid IP” message when I try to figure out why it won’t connect.
Here is some basic info that I thought might help.  I spent most of yesterday culling the Linksys site for suggestions, none of which have worked.  So if more info is needed, I’m sure I have it handy!
The icon try shows the two-computers icon and says, “Connected to: linksys-SES-64264.  Signal: Very Good.”
The tower icon says, “Belkin.  SSID.  Speed: 54.0 mbps.  Signal: Very Low. Status: Associated.  Address: 0.0.0.0”
    When I go into ipconfig/all, I see:
    Host……son’s name
    Primary Dns Suffix…..
    Node….Hybrid
    IP Routing Enabled…..No
    WINS Proxy Enabled…..No
    Desc…..Belkin 802.11g Network Adapter
    Physical Address…..00-11-50-60-B0-BA
    Dhcp Enabled…..Yes
    Auto Configure……Yes
    IP……0.0.0.0
    Default Gateway…..
    DHCP…..255.255.255.255
Can anyone offer some assistance, please?  I’m at a total loss at this point.  I’ve run the wizards a zillion times, etc., and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong!

It seems you're connected to a different SSID that's why you're getting a low signal in the first place and you're not getting any IP address at all.
    1. Click here to set up your wreless security (Follow the procedure only up to setting up 64-bit WEP)
    2. Use the wireless zero configuration of XP(the 2-computer icon on your system tray) to manage your wireless connection. Right-click the Belkin icon and look for an option to exit or disable. If it doesn't work or it doesn't have that opiton, use the Belkin wireless utility instead.
    3. Connect to your own SSID and type your network key/password you setup on step 1

  • ITunes security questions and rescue email address

So basically I want to download an app and when I went to do it it comes up with answer security questions or send to a certain email address
My problem is I can't remember the answer to the security questions and I don't know the email or password for the rescue email address.
    What can I do?

If you don't have access to your rescue email account (or don't have one on your account) set up on your account then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

  • ITunes will not accept my Credit Card Billing address

I tried to update my credit card in iTunes, and each time, it tells me "Your credit card information does not match your bank's records. Please enter a U.S. credit card and matching billing address. Which I've done repeatedly. Apple keeps pre-authorizing an outstanding iTunes bill on my card, 11 times now! and the funds are blocked on my card, - close to $100.00 dollars. I've talked to iTunes CS for at least 2 hours, they keep telling me it's my bank. I spoke to my bank and they say that my card is fine. I charged something on Amazon, it went through fine. Charged something on Netflix, went through fine. B&H Photo, again fine.
I realized that iTunes adds the 4 digit extended Zip Code, which my bank does not use, so I logged in appleid.apple.com and took out the extended 4 digits there, logged back into iTunes, and updated it, so it didn't have the extended 4. Then hit Done. - It came back with the same "does not match" error message, and it ADDED the +4 code again! - Of course it won't match if you keep adding things that aren't there!
Has anyone else been able to resolve this matter? iTunes C.S. won't take responsibility and keeps putting the fault on me or my bank.

  • HT204266 Why App Store is not accepting my new credit card billing address?

When trying to buy at the App Store it keeps saying "Your cedit card information does not matchc your bank's records.  Please enter a U.S. credit card and matching billing address."   This credit card is not the original I had saved in the system -- it's new, but the billing address is a PO box.  If I change it to my residential address I get the same message.

Is your VISA account associated with the same country where you reside? If not, that's why it was declined.

  • Change billing address question

Hi, I just bought an iPad. When I go to make a purchase it allows me to enter a card with billing details. However, it only gives me the option to enter a US address. However, my billing address is in the UK. I originally set up my Apple ID with a US address but have since changed it to the UK address. However, the prices are still displayed in US dollars and the billing address still requires a US address. (In case ti, I am currently in the US but do not live here.) Thanks in advance!

  • Why must credit card be same country than billing address ??

I want to buy from App Store. BUT: I have a credit card from Germany (because cash withdrawal worldwide is free if charge), my passport is Austrian and my billing address is Thailand, where I live at the moment.
This was all my life the same. 2002: Credit card Switzerland, Passport Austria, living in Greece.
So, how can I pay with my credit card I use worldwide in the App Store?
I do not intend to get a Thai Credit Card with real bad conditions to be allowed to pay in App Store only because my billing address is Thailand!

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Apple's rules are that you must use the Mac App Store/iTunes Stores for the country of your residense. If you use a bank card it must be a verifiable card from a bank in your couuntry of residense with a verifiable billing address in your country of residence. Period. There is no way to get around it if you intend to make purchases with a bank card.
I suggest that you open a simple bank account in Thailand that will provide you with a bank VISA/Master Card debit card and then fund the account with enough money to cover your purchases.
