ITunes 6.0 help

I thought i'd try downloading iTunes 6.0 after all the problems i had with 5.0 i don't know what i was thinking obviously i lost my mind cause i encountered problems again *audible gasp* this time i went through everything i did with 5.0 i uninstalled it, i wiped it from my registry, i deleted EVERY file that the windows search could find and i used the windows installer which after all that it couldn't find quicktime or iTunes and i was installing 6.0 when it got to installing quicktime i got an error message saying, "QuickTime installation failed: Error Code: -3" then it says that the setup is completed. so i open itunes in hopes that it works and i get "QuickTime failed to initialize (error -2093). QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes. which i have done 100 times or more. i even went back and did the whole process again, of course restarting the computer after deleting everything, and reinstalling it and allowing it to install the shortcut to the desktop and the quicklaunch just in case that had something to do with it. it's still not working and it's really starting to upset me. i love iTunes and i'm loving even more the ability to download videos. but i just can't get this to work and it's really getting on my nerves.

error 1714. The older version of quicktime cannot be removed. contact your technical support group.
there may still be registry installations entries from your previous QT 7 stuck in your beast. Download and use the Windows Cleanup Utility to try to eliminate those:

we've been having scattered reports that people's antivirus is preventing them from doing registry work, so it would be a good idea if you switched your antivirus and antispyware

I just updated to the newest version of ITunes well, not just but a few days ago. Anyway I have windows 8, and in ITunes my Ipod 5th gen will not show up. I have tried somethings such as unpluging repluging, going to services and restarting, basiclly everything on yoyutube, none still work. It's ***** to cause I just wanted to put music on my Ipod, if anyone has an idea of what to do please give some suggestions.

1. Try the iPod troubleshooting assistant:
If you haven't already done so, try the steps in the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant (choose your iPod model from the list).
If the issue remains after following your iPod's troubleshooting assistant, follow the steps below.
2. Restart the iPod Service
3. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
4. Empty your Temp directory and restart
5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
6. Change your iPod's drive letter
7. Remove and reinstall iTunes
8. Disable conflicting System Services and Startup Items
9. Update, Reconfigure, Disable, or Remove Security Software
10. Deleting damaged or incorrect registry keys

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV 2 doesn't show up under devices like the Apple TV 1, to send video and music to the Apple TV you need to use the Airplay Option which appears in the lower right corner of iTunes.

Below is the advice you forwarded:
I found a solution to my problem.
> start menu
> accessories,
> right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator".
Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
hit enter
You should get a message that the winsock reset successful and you will need to reboot your computer.
Reboot and when I reloaded itunes the store loaded fine.

I have updated to the latest OIS on my IPad but cannot install the update for ITunes. I get error messages that I must log on as administrator (don't know how) and I can't use my ITunes now. Help please

I have updated to the lastest OS on my IPad3. No problem there. Then found I could no longer access my Itunes as there was a message 'Cannot be used as it requires version 10.6.3 or later. Go to ... and download'. I have tried four times and it won't work. I get another message saying I must sign in as administrator or contact my system administrator. I am the only one who uses this PC and have no idea what my administrator password is. Now I cannot use ITunes. Please help if you can. Thank you. Eileen Frost

Many thanks diesel. I cannot remember ever having an administrator password. Looks like I shall have to do a restore on my PC and not bother with the updates. Or maybe I could find my password from somewhere ? When I went into control panel I found a box with administrator and my name and it said password protected so I must have had one at some time. Any ideas on how I could find it ? Many thanks anyway. I always use a password to sign on but obviously that is not it. Eileen

Running itunes 10.6.1.7. did reorg of lib to new struct. reorg left all video podcasts in old folder. I cannot view video podcasts itunes or download. help please.

I just installed itunes 10.6.1.7. on a new PC connected an external hard drive containing my itunes library and pointed to my library on an external hard drive.
I also did reorganization of my library structure via "organize library" menu option. The reorg left all video podcasts in the old podcast folder and will not let me copy them to the new podcast folder.
From the itunes store I cannot select a new video podcast and download and view it in itunes. The podcast will show up but the file or episode has a "GET" button next to it and never shows it as available to view in itunes. I have attempted to download many time with no success.
I have podcasts that are all video podcasts and some that are mixed audio podcasts and video podcasts. in both cases the video podcasts remained in the original folder location.
The video podcasts are not in movies or in tv shows. All music is present and accounted for that I know.
How can I restore all video podcasts previously downloaded and view them on itunes or an ipod?
Can I create a video podcast option in itunes?
Please help.

Issue solved - It turns out that the QuickTime version on my PC was 6.5 and I needed to update to version 7.6 or higher to allow videos to play in iTunes. I updated to QuickTime version 7.7 and then added the old podcast folder to iTunes while in podcasts. This found all video podcast content and then the auto reorg moved all folders to the new podcast directory. For the videos I manually moved earlier, I had to move (not copy) them back to the old directory or folder then add that old folder and they were now in the right directory and viewable in iTunes.

Alright, right after posting my question I figured it out. I plugged my iPod into one of the USB ports in the front of the MacPro and it worked like a charm. Now the problem is, what is wrong with the two ports in the back of my Apple Cinema HD screen? That I can't figure out clearly. The USB connection from it to the MacPro is connected.
