Itunes 6.0 Windows XP Problems

When I upgraded to Itunes 6.0, i can see my 500 music and audio files, but when i click to play or even transfer to my IPOD, itunes says it can not find the file I can clearly see in my music library.

I am going to assume that all music is in one folder. Is this correct?
Do a search for *.mp3, or *.m4a depending how you imported your songs. Also *.m4p for anything you bought. If they are all in one folder it will show you where, such as c:\music, otherwise it will show multiple folders.
Use file, add folder to library, point to the folder that you found in your search. All totaled this should take you about a minute to do.

  • "iTunes has stopped working" Windows 7 - Problem and Solution

    Problem:
When I moved my iTunes library from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro, iTunes would always crash. The "Detail" on the error message referred to
    Fault Module Name = Quicktime.qts
To troubleshoot I deleted the iTunes Libray.itl file in the user profile. Then I would "Add Folder" and point to my iTunes directory to rebuild the library. I then noticed it would always crash on the same song when "Processing Artwork".
The problem was caused by specific .mp4 song files that I had purchased from iTunes.
    Solution:
This is not easy but it works . . The bad .mp4 files still work in iTunes on Windows XP. So in iTunes on Windows XP, right-click > Info > Artwork > remove the artwork from the .mp4 file. Then move the file to your Windows 7 computer and load it into iTunes. It now works without crashing. You can then add the artwork again from iTunes or from a .jpg off of Google Images.
Fix your .mp4 files one at time until there are none left that cause the crash. Remember you find them by processing the artwork . . the bad file will show in the little windows at the top of iTunes after the crash.
I am not an iTunes expert as such . . maybe there is another way to remove and replace the bad images from the .Mp4 files purchased from iTunes other than using iTunes on XP.

for a few weeks i have not been able to access the itunes store from the itunes on my laptop. every time i click on it it tells me it cannot access the store...not sure why. and says this: ITUNES HAS STOPPED WORKING a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available.

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.

  • Problems with ITunes 10 for Windows with Ipod Touch

I have had several problems with my original 16Gb ipod touch since upgrading to ITunes 10. Windows Vista Home Premium. I had no significant problems before ITunes 10.
    1. Numerous apps upgrades fail with an error message (approx) "installation failed because resources have changed." I have searched for information about this, but all I could find relates to developers, not ordinary users. I can upgrade the apps directly, using a wifi link - just not through ITunes 10. (Apps: Dictionary.com, StarWalk, etc.)
    2. After repeated examples of this, I decided to try restoring the ipod. I've done this several times in the past without problems. This time, it repeatedly failed at step 3 of 5, re-installing my music, with "unknown error." The ipod was unusable after this. I eventually had to restore on another computer that still had ITunes 9 installed - that worked, but I lost all me recent data entries. (After successfully restoring using ITunes 9, I tried again with ITunes 10 - same failure.)
    3. Now, all podcasts that I install are played back at an unusable low volume. They are just loud enough to barely hear in a very quiet room, but not loud enough to be usable. The podcasts play fine when played directly in ITunes. Music installed on the ipod plays properly. I have tried using the Podcast option in ITunes to change the volume, but that has no effect. I have tried several speakers and headsets - all the same. Podcasts are probably the most important use of my ipod, and now they are useless. These are popular podcasts, such as CBC's As It Happens - I don't think that the originator would have had an undetected problem for this long.
    Any suggestions?

This symptom could be caused by an unusable iTunes configuration file. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
    Remove SC Info.sidb file
(This applies to Win7 or Vista)
From the Start menu, click Computer.
In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    Click the View tab.
In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    Click OK.
Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed: C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
Right-click the SC Info.sidb file shown and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
Right-click the SC Info.sidd file shown and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
Restart the computer and open iTunes.
If this does not work, repair your Quicktime - START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAM and FRAETURES / highlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR

IPOD model A1059 appears frozen and is unresponsive to all click wheel entries. Reset does not work.  Does not show up in ITunes or in Windows Explorer.  What is the problem and is there a fix?

If you are unable to reset the iPod (assuming the hold switch is not in the On position either), then you'll have to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then connect it to a charger and leave it to charge for a couple of hours.

  • HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open.  First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

My pc is working with windos 8.
    Is there a solution?

    Hey there Rodney274,
It sounds like you are getting an error from iTunes when you launch it. I would try the troubleshooting in this article named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with troubleshooting for 3rd party plug ins section, then the rest of the article if needed:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • When installing itunes 10 uding windows xp I get the following error: "There is a problem with this Windows Installerpackage. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your sipport personnel or package vendor." - any ideas?

When downloading itunes 10 in windows xp, I get the following error "There is a problem with this Windoes Installer package. Aprogram run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." - any ideas on how to proceed?

using MSICUU2.exe didn't help me.  But,  the new replacement app did:
      http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
I fixed my problem like this:
    Here's the deal -
    1.  can you install itunes via the APPLE SOFTWARE updater?
I couldn't  so I downloaded ITUNES and tried to install it that way.   Hence  I got the same error hang as you.  Nothing worked,  (Multiple attempts at uninstall reinstall,  stopping of Services,  Reg cleaners  etc..)
    2.  If answer is NO to #1 you must fixe the APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE Program.
OK  so I couldn't find a Download for this.   But:  if you have WINRAR,  open the ITUNES.EXE and extract the APPLESOFTWAREUPDATE.MSI file.  Execute the APPLESOFTWAREUPDATE.MSI separately.   And you will not be able to install it and have a similar issue as per your Itunes install.   This of course leads you to believe that the Itunes.exe  install is also installing all of these components including the applesoftwareupdate silently.   It must BOMB at that portion of the install and you are done.
    3.  Your goal now is to get the applesoftwareupdate installed.   How do you do this.  Well -  here is what I did.
      a.  downloaded and RUN a PC  Installer FIX it tool from Microsoft.  This is a replacement for the older MSI fixer they used to use.
      http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
    b. It will list programs to attempt to fix.
      choose  AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
    c. Once it is done,  then reinstall apple program updater using
    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
Finally it should install since the Microsoft tool appraently fixed corrupted installation files in your registry for this application.
(Please note:  that I also disabled any apple related services such as BONJOUR or IPOD DEvice RUN:  services.msc to get there -  although this man not be necesarry.)
Hence Launch this APPLE UPDATE SOFTWARE (Click the ICON in your Start menu)  it should list ITUNES
select ITUNES from here and it will update.
KEY HERE is to ONLY UPDATE APPLE Stuff via the APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE program.  If that program is not working fix it.  Then Bingo.
I am sorry to see folks having this problem for weeks.
APPLE,   Spread the word.  PC's can get corruption in the registry on your product should the update be stopped or computer shut off during an update.  etc...   Please improve your software updater program to check for invalid registry upon launching the app.  This will prevent people thinking it is an APPLE issue.  It appears to be a problem on your PC's registry settings for the APPLE Software update.

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Hi neffn!
I have an article for you that can help you go through that process of uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. If you have Windows 7, you will want to see this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
and if you are using Windows XP, you will want to reference this article:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
Note that, as it says in those articles:
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, see iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Had to reinstall windows 7 - Problems syncing iPhone with new iTunes

    Hello everyone!
I've recently had to reinstall windows 7. Now I am having issues syncing my iPhone 4 with my new iTunes. I've look online at several forums and webpages but haven't found a workable solution yet.
My issues are that when I attempt to sync my iPhone with the new iTunes, it tells me that it will erase everything on the phone and replace it with what's in iTunes. Well there's nothing in iTunes so this is a problem.
Now I don't purchase anything through iTunes, except for a few apps, and the only thing I really want out of syncing is to get some class recordings, done by Voice Memos, from my iPhone to my computer. The files are all around ~30 Mb so I can't email them.
Is there anyway to do this?
    Thanks,
    Greg

What gets erased is the iTunes/App store purchases on your phone, replaced with the contents of your iTunes library on your computer - in this case nothing.  Voice memos sync only from phone to computer - they don't get deleted.
To avoid losing your apps, music/media:
    1. Defeat automatic syncing on connection to iTunes:  ITunes preferences > Devices > Prevent .... from syncing automatically
    2. Connect phone to computer with iTunes open
    3. ITunes menu > File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
    4. iTunes menu > File > Devices > Back UP
Now OK to sync voice memos to iTunes.
