ITunes 6.04 blipping or hiccuping a lot

I'm noticing that since I upgraded to iTunes 6.04, I'm getting lots and lots of hiccups or blips in music. This phenomenon occurs whether I'm streaming music from a radio connection, playing back MP3 of AIF from a CD, or listening to the same cuts on the computer itself (I dragged them there after getting very annoyed at putting up with this while listening to the MP3 CD itself. The blips are not recorded in the original I can back iTunes up and run the same piece of music a second time and the blip will be gone...but it'll show up somewhere else.
This is behaving as if it has to replenish its cache every now and again, and not very successfully. It'll blip 5-10 times within a 30 second range, then play fine long enough to seem as if it's working, and then blip again.
Whatever the cause, it's bloody annoying, and rapidly making iTunes a useless piece of software for listening to anything.

I am having the same exact problem and have the same exact machine. I had a dual 1.25 G4 and used the firewire cable to move all my date to this new G5 dual 2.0. My G4 could play music forever with a single skip. My G5 from day one skipped all the time. The same songs on the G4 never skipped and still don't. I feel this is a G5 problem since the G4 was running all the same software. I am really starting to hate the G5. I can't stand listening to iTunes on it. The songs do NOT skip on the ipod. It is an iTunes play back issue. I have tried every trick and tip others have to solve the problem. If anyone knows what the exact problem is I will pay money to know. Pretty soon this G5 is going on ebay for $1 if I can't stop the skipping.

Your best option is to post this in the iTunes forum.

  • çnow won't sync back to my iPad because it says I don't have permission on this computer. I don't want to download it from iTunes again because it took up a lot of bandwidth. What's the deal

I bourght "E O Wilson's Life on Earth" and backed it up to my iMac. Now it won't sync back to my iPad because it says I don't have permission on this computer. I don't want to download it from iTunes again because it took up a lot of bandwidth. What's the deal?
I also made the big mistake of downloading a free book about the making of the movie "Frankenweenie." Mega-memory eater. Now it wants to download additions and started to do so---now says paused. I can't delete the bloody thing. Seems like nothing I've downloaded, including free books, can be deleted. How can I get rid of this garbage?
Is there any way to just transfer my music from my iMac to my iPad and not affect anything else on my iPad? The whole iBooks thing is just a mess as far as I'm concerned. Is there any way to just drag and drop?

"I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up."
Correct.  it does not magially appear in other places.  It will only be where you put it.
"I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where  I sync everything. "
Correct as well.  Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

  • ITunes; uninstalling/reinstalling; iPod...a lot of problems...

A few months ago, my computer suffered a hiccup and went to the recovery console. During this time, all major programs on my computer, including iTunes, were deleted from the hard drive. Everything had to be installed. I didn't bother trying to deal with the iTunes problem until a day ago when I finally got it in what looked like running order.
When I connected my iPod (3rd gen. nano) it didn't show up in iTunes. (Also, my iTunes icon was a green music note and I'm pretty sure iTunes has a blue music note, don't know if that's significant, but it can't hurt). It also had some issues ejecting the iPod (i.e. it wouldn't let me from the "safely remove hardware" icon in the system tray) and I had to eject from My Docs. I tried resetting the iPod using the menu & center button but did not put it into disk mode. When today I tried to uninstall iTunes & Quicktime and reinstall a new version, it looked like it had uninstalled and was installing fine, but it got to a certain point and it said "stopping processes" and it froze. At this point, an error message popped up:
"Error 1921. Service iPod Service (iPodService) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficent privileges to stop system services"
At that point, I came to the forum for help.
I read a few things that said I should stop iPodService.exe from the task manager as well as "AppleMobileDevice" but I didn't want to do that unless absolutly necessary.
I'm hoping that since I created an account (I had been using my sister's before the computer went into recovery mode) that will solve the problem.
Also, the green-music-note-version of iTunes doesn't seem to have an uninstall feature so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to go about a full uninstall.
I hope I've given enough information and someone can give me a helping hand.
If there is any other information that someone needs to help diagnose the problem, I'm more than happy to provide it.

  • My ipad has deleted all of my songs from iTunes... I spent a lot of money building my collection and I'm pretty upset :( what can I do about this??

I don't understand why, but I no longer have any songs on my ipad on iTunes... I'm devastated because that is a lot of money I have lost :( please help!!!

You haven't lost them, you can download them all again without having to pay for them again. It might be a pain in the butt to have to do it, but you will get them back. The forts thing that I would do is to reset the iPad and see if the songs come back.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If they don't come back, go to the purchase tab of the iTunes Store and tap on the Music tab at the top. Them tap on Not on this iPad. You will be able to download all of the songs by tapping on the close icon next to the song.

  • ITunes seems to be skipping/hiccuping while playing music during browisng.

    Hello Everyone
So for the past month or so I experience intermittent "hiccuping" while playing music through iTunes on my PC.  Songs don't skip in the traditional sense of skipping from one song to the next ... instead it's more like a blurp/drag.  It lasts for about a second or two and then it stops.  It happens mostly when I'm web-browsing.  I've tried using another browser but nothing seems to help.  my PC is three years old and it came with Windows 7.  I've used Windows 8 since it became available so I guess that's about two years now, I'm on to Windows 8.1.  My system has a 1TB hard drive, 4 GB of RAM, and an AMD Athlon X4 640 3GHZ processor (I don't know much about processor specs but I thought I'd include it to be as thorough as possible).  Of the TB of Hard Drive space, I've used less than 40% of it.  I've run virus scans, malware scans, I've made sure my defrags and Windows updates are up to date.  There was recently an update to iTunes in the last day or so - and I was really hoping this would be fixed - but the problem seems to be getting worse.
I'm to the point where I'm ready to download Google Play and just use iTunes solely for syncing my iPhone 5s.  I cannot continue to put with playing music in iTunes with this problem.  I'm at my wit's end.  I've considered "dumping" everything on to an external hard drive, wiping my system and starting fresh ...
    Anyone have any thoughts, ideas?

It may just be your DVD player. I have found
    this
with some of my DVDs. They work fine on my player
    and
    skip on others.
That results from a high level of burn errors as a
result of low quality media and/or high burn
    speeds.
Hmm, maybe. I never (knowingly) use crappy media.
I always use Imation discs (mainly because they are
fully printable - and I thought they were meant to be
good quality). Also, I cant see where to change the
burn speed. I always burn a disc image and then use
Disk Utility to burn a disc. It just does it
automatically and doesn't seem to offer any choices.
How can I get it to burn at slower speed? I'd
prefer not to use third party software if poss.
OK, you've got me worried now.
    I've just checked this
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
and think I'll be off tomorrow to buy some new discs.
    Thanks for alerting me.

  • ITunes 10.5.2 is writing a lot of temp.tmp files and using up many gigabytes of disk space! It seems as if it is completely out of control!

iTunes 10.5.2 on my macbook pro is writing a lot of temp(number).tmp files to my iTunes folder and not erasing them later!  As a result it quickly uses up many gigabytes of hard disk space. It uses up 8 to 10 gigabytes in just a few days.  I have been using iTunes since its inception, and only had this occur in the past few weeks.  My iTunes library is large with 3187 albums, and is 425 GB in size. My iTunes library is located on remote hard disk and accessed from my wifi network.  I have had such a setup for many years without any problems. Any help would be appreciated.

iTunes 10.5.2 on my macbook pro is writing a lot of temp(number).tmp files to my iTunes folder and not erasing them later!
Usually, that indicates that something is interfering with read/writes to the iTunes library files. Do you have security software (or realtime backup utilities) installed that might be scanning the locations on the computer where the iTunes library files are stored?

  • ITunes 11.0.1 music hiccups

Hi everyone, I just downloaded and reinstalled iTunes 11.0.1 due to music hiccupping. Now I tried uninstalling everything including iTunes, Bonjour, Appl Application Support, Quicktime, Apple Support and etc. and it still makes my music hiccup. Is there a reason why it's doing that? And what's causing that problem? I never had this problem before. It's not my sound or realtek drivers because YouTube music videos work fine and no hiccups. Please I need help, thanks!

  • My iTunes on my mac is missing a lot of items I've purchased

I've recently purchased a mac and decided to sync my iphone 5 to it, when i did this it managed to lose a lot of my stuff, like ringtones, music & movies.  My itunes is also on my old laptop and when i tried to sync it back in the hope of retriving some of these items it didnt do anything at all.  I want to sell my laptop and primarily use my mac but i obviously dont want to lose anymore data because itunes asks me 'if i want to use this as my priarmy account', i do but i dont want to lose everything
    Someone please help me

A user named Benxine found a fix that worked for me after failing with all the others:
IF your computer has an old cydia app called Wi-Fi Sync (you'll recognize it on your toolbar as a black silhouette of an iphone that NEVER goes away), then this is probably your main culprit.  Simple fix.
    1. Goto your hard drive in the finder
    2. Goto Library
    3. Goto Launch Daemons
    4. Throw this in the trash:  com.ghughes.wifisync.root.plist
    5. Goto Library
    6. Goto Application Support
    7. Throw this in the trash:  Wi-Fi Sync (it's an entire folder).
    8. Restart.
    9. Thank Benxine!!

  • Streaming iTunes to Airport Express - Audio Hiccups

I have a Netgear wireless router connected to my PC, and, at the other end of the house, a Hawking Range Extender.  My Airport Express syncs with the range extender so that I can access my iTunes library on the PC and play through my sound system (where the Express is located).  I am using the Airport Utility on my iPad to access and play from iTunes.  All signals are strong, but when iTunes is streaming there is a "hiccup" every 10-15 seconds in the audio.  This is a very momentary pause.  Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, were yoiu able to resolve it?

you can only stream music to an airport express if you have selected that network from your list under the airport icon at the top of your screen... so if you have selected your itunes network then you obviously can't also be part of another wireless network to use the internet. The only way to do this is to make your itunes network a part of the network which is used to access the web. Airport express has profiles which enable you to setup multiple settings so when you take your airport into the office, reconfigure the airport using airport admin and have it 'join' your office network and make sure you give it the same network name as your office one. Then from your airport network list select the name and you will be able to both listen to music and surf.

  • Ive tried multiple times on my computer and my internet is fast and perfect but my ipod touch 4th gen will not get past "backing up ipod" it sits there of course itunes 10.5 any solutions ive heard lots of people are having this problem across the board

My ipod touch 4th gen will not update to IOS5 i believe the problem is itunes10.5
ive been trying to update since friday my internet is perfect [speedtest.net] itunes just wont get past [backing up ipod[ i hope they fix this soon and i just wanted to see if anybody else was also having this problem because i want the new features coming with ios but its just not working and it took all night just to get roughly to about 20% completion of backing up ipod then when i got home it said "could not restore ipod its still on firmware 4.3.3 so i dont know why it said could not restore i did click "update" but anyway im having this problem and wondering if anyone else is {i think everybodys having problems itunes10.5 right now

I am having the same problem (lost in back-up purgatory) on both my iPhone 4 and my iPad2.  I am running Windows XP.
I have tried everything I've seen suggested on various support communities, with no success.
I have gotten used to having to find a windows workaround everytime Apple updates iTunes, and this time it is especially frustrating.
I don't have any solutions, and I am responding to all of these types of messages in hopes of finding something that will work for me.
One person was able to work through it by deleting all of the previous iTunes backup files.  I'm trying that now.  4 hours into it, and it does not seem to be working......

  • ITunes 9.2 running in "Safe Mode" Lots of Back Screen

I downloaded 9.2 and the all of the album art work is black. The genius side bar is all black (unable to read suggustions - faded letters) and the min/max/close buttons on window are black. I reinstalled 10 times and still not fixed. Any ideas or do I have to wait for 9.2.1

I downloaded and installed 9.2. Had been working fine prior to 9.2. Once I installed new version, the window where the ITunes store should be is all black. There are links that are active, but I can't see what they are. If I do a search for an artist/song, it shows up, but when I go back to the home page, it is black again. I re-downloaded and installed. Same problem.

  • My iTunes shuts down with an Error a lot

When playing from my library iTunes quits every few songs, i noticed it only happens when the old song is playing and u want to turn on something else.
Right now I have to press pause and then play another song, otherwise 1 out of 5 times it will quit the program with an "unexpected error"
This is a brand new MacBook and i just started using iTunes (first time) ...so its not that i messed with any system files (or even settings for that matter)
iTunes for a Mac by the way

Hello and thank you so much for responding,
My iTunes is version 7.0 and Quicktime is version 7.1.3
This is the original account that was set up when I first turned on the computer. There are no other accounts. I noticed the problem right away when I first opened iTunes and started transfering my mp3 library.
Actually now it shuts down all the time! Sometimes in the middle of the song, sometimes when I press pause, sometimes when one song ends and it starts the other one.
I truly makes using iTunes impossible! not to mention the irony that my Windows iTunes was so much more stable ;(
    Please help me out.
