ITunes 6 actually running WITH norton?

It's weird. And I seriously don't know how this works. My iTunes 6 does run with Norton enabled. Any ideas?

It mysteriously changed somehow, because the last time I checked my Norton firewall it had "block all" selected. When I tried to select "permit all" my Norton froze.
that's been reported before. (it's the basis of the occasional "overnighter" cures ... sometimes the silent blocking un-jams of it's own accord.)
did you have your personal firewall disabled prior to selecting those settings?

ITunes failing to run with an application error

Hi All,
I have been running iTunes on my DELL computer with absolutely no problems until just the other day I started up the program and got this unrecoverable error:
Remote Speakers: iTunes.exe - Application Error
The rest of the error message basicaly says that it can't read a particular referenced memory location. It stops there and I can only ok or cancel the error message.
I tried reinstalling the latest version of iTunes, didn't work. I then uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it...nope didn't work either.
I'm feeling quite frustrated, anyone have some ideas of what I can do to resolve this?

yeah let's swap that QuickTime out.
since that's not the most common QuickTime error message i see under these circumstances, we'll take a few additional precautions with the uninstall.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

Itunes 7 only runs with Admin permissions

I have just upgraded itunes to 7.0 on my Win XP professional machine.
If I am logged in as administrator, iTunes runs without problem.
But if I try to start it as normal (power) user, I get the error message
"itunes cannot run because one of its required files are missing. Please reinstall itunes."
Re-installing (that is repairing) itunes as user, does not help.
My previous itunes version was 6.0 and I had no problems.
Any ideas?

mog67, similar things to that can sometimes happen if the other user accounts don't have the right permissions on the QuickTime keys in your Registry.
the stejskal family pioneered the treatment for us:
the trick for me was getting up the nerve to "fiddle" with the registry...the reason why the girls could not get access to iTunes/QT was down to permission...once I got one going I went back in to HKEY-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\apple computer, inc\Quicktime...click to highlight go to edit, permission and added the missing girls to the list of who is allowed...made sure they have full permission..apply, ok and "bobs your uncle" all is now well in stejskal home.

so perhaps check to see if your user account has permissions on those keys.

ITunes scripts not running with 7.7

The iTunes com object has changed and some programs I use no longer run. Evidently, some methods have either been hidden or eliminated. Does anyone know if this is something that is going to be fixed?
Also, can anyone point me to documentation of the current com interface.

I have the same issue and I solve the issue with change these parameters.
1.- You must change on configuration profile "before user logon". I have 5 seconds
2.- You must change on configuration profile "port authentication Exception policy" and you must enable checkbox "enable port exceptions" and select "allow data traffic before authentication"
3.- You must enable in the option of interface Ethernet Intel on PC "Wait for link" this option It's in "configured advanced of Intel. You must select "on" in this option.
4.- (this recommendation it was by Cisco)
Active Direct GPO has a setting "Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\System\Logon\ Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" that
can be enabled to make the logon scripts wait till 802.1x authentication is completed.
With those changes the logon script run fine.

ITunes does not run with Windows 8.1

Since I installed windows 8.1 I cannot get into the itunes store. I get the error message iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store an unknown error occurred 0x80090318. Any ideas? I am using a Sony 20" touchscreen computer running Windows 8.1 operating system. I have checked the forum and copied QTMovieWin.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes without success. Connecting to the Store is impossible and I can't update iTunes. Can anyone assist me in correcting this problem?

Here is the fix, if you're still having the problem. It's just a copy and paste thing.
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Just be sure to reboot after you have copied and pasted the file listed above.

ITunes Only Runs with Anti Virus disabled

I had the same problem a lot of people are having when upgrading to the latest iTunes.
I have reinstalled QT and iTunes separately and have finally gotten it to run. My problem now is that iTunes only opens if I have Norton Internet Security disabled. When Norton is enabled, iTunes doesn't open at all - no error message - but it runs because I get a message from Norton to designate the type of access I want to give to iTunes. I choose "permit all" but it doesn't open. Itunes appears to continue running because I have to force the computer shut each time because it is unable to end the program. Also, sometimes I get an end program error "SMAX4PNP" - the pc also cannot end the program and I have to force it shut.
But when I log into iTunes with Norton disabled, everything works smoothly.
When I go into the personal firewall for Norton, I am unable to find iTunes as an option to "permit all".
Also, when I go to the task bar to end running processes, I try to end itunes.exe but it does not end it.
Can you help? I have combed through the discussion pages for an hour and a half now but cannot find the specific fix to my problem.

I followed your steps. The uninstall and install went fine but I am still unable to open iTunes with NIS on. I believe I did something wrong.
After scanning, I couldn't find the programs you mention in the program scan box (or in the personal firewall configure box): iTunesHelper.exe, iTunes.exe and the QuickTimeInstaller.exe. All I saw in the scna box was Apple iTunes and Apple Quicktime.
You also said to leave all programs on the list - did you mean leave them as they appeared with the "Internet Access" field on Automatic?
Also, once scanning is complete, I couldn't find an "accept" or "ok" button and the "next" button was never enabled, even after tinkering with the programs....should I just close the window?
I think I need your help again.

Firefox 3.6.12 won't open under WinXP. Have uninstalled/reinstalled several times. When I start the program (including safe mode) I see a Firefox process appear for about 3 seconds, then disappear. Run full scan with Norton with no malware discovered.

To sync an iOS 7 device you need to be running iTunes 11.1.1; iTunes 10.6 is way too old and won't work. You need to install iTunes 11.1.1, but to do that you need to be running at least Mac OS X 10.6.8.
So you need to do the following:
1. Upgrade your Mac to at least OS X 10.6.8 (later preferably, but 10.6.8 at the miniumum).
a. Check first to see if your model Mac can be upgraded, check that it has enough RAM and so forth (2GB at the least, more if possible).
b. If you can't upgrade your Mac, or don't want to, then you will have to buy a new Mac with the latest version of OS X (currently 10.8.5, soon to become 10.9) and iTunes 11.1.1
2. Install iTunes 11.1.1 on your newly upgraded Mac.
3. Sync your iOS 7 iPhone with iTunes.

If your iPhone is recognized by the computer, but not seen by iTunes, you may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service, as described in this article -

TS5376 I have a laptop that i am running with Windows Vista. A while ago, it stopped running iTunes and comes up with the error : Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.

I have an iMac as my home computer, upgraded to this about a year ago from a windows pc and love it.
However...
I have a HP Compaq laptop that i am running with Windows Vista, which I use when travelling. A while ago, I believe on an update, to either windows or itunes, it stopped running iTunes and comes up with the error : Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I have a reasonable amount of tunes stored on my laptop, and am unable to ascertain as to whether this fix for allowing itunes to work again will delete my music folder and lose all the tunes i have on my laptop already?
The contents of my music folders on my laptop and iMac are not the same, as they are not synced!
Any help please on this would be appreciated!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

If you have iPhone 3G, the latest and greatest is IOS 4.2.1.
If you have iPhone 3GS or later, you can only update to IOS 6.0.1.

I have just updated to the newest iTunes version from the latest version.
I have installed iTunes and when I click 'iTunes' to launch iTunes, it says this 'iTunes could not run because it had detected a problem with your audio configuration.'
I get the option to click 'OK' or 'Help'
When I click 'OK' the window closes and then nothing happens.
When I click 'Help' nothing happens.
Any advice??

It's probably QuickTime 7.3 that is the problem. Uninstall it and install version 7.2 instead. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime72forwindows.html

Hi, I upgraded to iTunes 7 and could not get it to run. After the license agreement I would get an error -50 message. Somehow, during some messing around, I noticed that the application name had changed from iTunes to iTunes 06-10-04 I don't know how this cane about but iTunes loaded up with no problems.
Then I took the 06-10-04 out of the name, and again iTunes would not run, the error -50 message appearing. Puting the numbers back into the name solved the issue once more.
Any ideas???

I'm not going to try to answer the jar question, but as far as package name goes, if your CheckLogs class starts with the statement "package net.kenjanuski.utils;" then the fully qualified name of the class is net.kenjanuski.utils.CheckLogs. The java.exe command uses the fully qualified name of the class. So the only way it will work is "java net.kenjanuski.utils.CheckLogs" just as you found out.
You can run the Jar file if you define the class in a Manifest file. See http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jar/basics/run.html
