ITunes 6 crashes when I access the Music Store

If I click on the Music Store or Shopping Cart in the playlist column, iTunes 6 attempts to access the music store, then crashes. This wasn't happening with iTunes 5. I use MacOS 10.4 and QuickTime 7.0.3. Is this happening to anyone else?

Matthew, thanks for posting. I'm having the same problem and it is driving me crazy.

I know this topic has come up before on this forum but I had trouble following it all! I just upgraded mt itunes (big mistake) and now I can't access the music store. • What is a "browser redirect" ? Why can't I access the music store?

    Hi,
I just posted a message about not being able to access the music store. I said reconnect when I mean redirect.
Does anyone know what's going on and why I can't I access the music store? I was able to get on 3 days ago. Thanks to all who can tell me something.
This is REALLY starting to irritate me.

I am also becoming very frustrated. I am new to this forum but after spending the better part of my day off trying to figure out how to make this work I have hit the wall. It strikes me that this should be much easier to access considering that we are looking to spend money. Does apple not want my money? I have tried everything that was recommended in all the sites I have been directed to, to no avail. I am not a computer whiz, so I need specific and simple answers as to how to fix this. I have never been able to access the music store, and each time I try I get the white screen, and a perpetual connection bar. I then have to close iTunes, and reboot my computer to be able to access it again. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

  • Can't access the Music Store.  This thing is driving me nuts!!!

Ever since installing iTunes V7.x I had stability problems with iTunes and my Video iPod. I finally gave up and rolled back to iTunes 6.04 and restored the iPod to its former firmware. I thought my problems were behind me until I noticed this morning that none of my Podcasts were being updated, even though it looked like it was going through the motions. Every single podcast had a with the message:
"There was a problem downloading "xxx". The network connection was reset"
I then tried accessing the Music Store and got the message:
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was reset."
I checked and re-entered my Apple account name and password, but still no go. If I went to the Apple web site directly, then the Apple store, I had no problem logging in. In the early iTune days I had the same "network connection reset" problem, but Apple apparently fixed it. Now here it is again. It is my gut feel that the problem has something to do with the fact that I depend on a satellite internet feed (Hughesnet). I'm guessing that there is some security feature either in iTunes, the Music Store, or both that is getting confused by the long turn-around time (latency) resulting from using satellite, but no way to prove it (unfortunately, due to poor health, I can't get out to try other internet connections).
Bottom line is I am stuck with an iPod I can't use because I can't access the Music Store. Any ideas?

Believe it or not I got mine working finally though I'm not sure which of the following steps, if any, did the trick. I posted this problem in the DSLReports forum. Apparently several people had problems though none mentioned iTunes specifically. The 'fix' was to go into the advanced menu and change the proxy port to something other than Port: 87. The idea was that this effectively turns off the proxy server or I should say forces your receiver to not use the proxy server. Well I tried this and didn't see any difference. Rather than screw anything else up I decided to reset the DW7000 thus restoring the original settings. For some reason it all of sudden could finally access the Music Store, update podcasts, etc.; i.e. it started working.
From what I've read, each time you reset the receiver it goes out an decides on the proxy server to use (not necessarily the same one each time). I'm guessing the proxy server it picked up after the reset was more iTunes friendly. Of course it's possible that it has nothing to do with the proxy server and the reset fixed whatever was wrong. Bottom line, reset your receiver and see if the access problem goes away. If not, try again. It only takes a few seconds so really you have nothing to loose. Kind of obvious when you think about it. What's the first thing you do when your computer is having a problem? Yep, reset.

  • Can't Access the Music Store in a New Country, help!

I'm studying in Denmark and I can't seem to access the iTunes music store. I don't know if this is because I'm abroad or if its something else. I've tried disabling my firewall, and I've installed the new iTunes 7 and nothing seems to be working. Other computers on my network are able to access the music store. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

My bad, I meant that I can't get it to load. Whenever I try it gives me a message saying:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again"
Dunno what network settings I would need to change to make this work, my connection is definitely active. I don't know if its a problem with just iTunes or other things as well. I tried using Napster and emusic as a test and Napster wouldn't connect and the emusic downloads failed.

Re: iTunes keeps crashing when I select iTunes store (Win 8) iTunes 11
    Sep 26, 2013 5:43 AM (in response to Bristol1981a)
I had this exact same problem.  I found a fix on another support post that worked perfectly for me.  Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.  Then browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  My iTunes store is working fine now.
    God bless!!

  • How can I safely transfer my 125GB of itunes music files to free up space, but still keep itunes on my MBP, and access the music with the cloud and match?

I have already backed up all the itunes files on two different external drives. And I have already set up icloud and itunes match. I am still paranoid about deleting the files from my MBP, but I need to free the space. What steps should I take to delete the files. And can I still keep itunes (w/o all the music files) on my laptop and access the music from the cloud? I know I can run them with the external drive plugged in, but looking for a way to do it w/o pluggin in.

I have tried that as well.  The purchased songs are not in my playlists and they are still there.  I manually deleted them on the phone but the sync puts them right back on there.
I only sync playlists and they aren't on there.

  • Accessing the music store in the first place

everytime i click "music store" on my list it goes to the music store, but when i enter a song in the search thing, it keeps saying that there are all of these different errors. So I wait and try later, it still doesn't work. This has been happening for a few days now and I'm getting a bit angry. What is going on here?

    Here is how I fixed Error 5002. . .
    I shutdown iTunes.
I logged into my .Mac account via Safari. I went into my profile and checked that the credit card info was up to date. (It was.) Then I logged out of .Mac.
I reloaded iTunes. I went back to purchase Lost video. I logged in and it directed me to a screen telling me that my credit card info was about to expire. It was not. . the card was good for several more years but. . . .
. . . it need that security code on the back of the credit card. I put that in and then hit OK. It updated my profile.
I then went back in hit "Buy' again and it started to download. Took all of 1 minutes on work Broadband.
    Hope this helps. . . .

Re: Trouble connecting to apps and iTune store.
Jan 30, 2013 10:29 PM (in response to DonWhite)
Like so many others, after updating to OS6 and changing my iCloud password, none of my devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, iMac etc) could connect to the tunes store, the error message was something "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." However, there was nothing wrong with my internet connection - programs like Safari & Mail worked just fine.
After trawling through the discussions and trying the recommendations (change time/date, activate location services, reset network settings etc) I just became more frustrated.
I figured that if iTunes thought my network connection was the problem, maybe I should try tricking it and, after much trial, error and frustration, I did find a solution - and it may work for you...
I turned off WiFi on my iPhone, then connected to my telco's 3G network, then connected to the iTunes store and it worked fine. Then I switched back to WiFi and all is good. Did the same for the iPad. For the MacBook and iMac I turned off WiFi then tethered the iPhone on the 3G network to the computer, then connected to iTunes Store, then went back to WiFi. For some reason that I don't understand, this all went as planned and now everything works.
Anyway, I thought I should contribute to the community by letting you know the solution I found. Of course, this may not necessarily work for you, but it's worth a shot.

  • ITunes always crash when I press the browse button...

if I have opened the browse window in iTunes main window, and then start to play musics, at this moment when I press browse button to close the browse window, iTunes always crashes.
I don't know if it is a bug. Anyone can help me?
    thanks

    hiya!
Indeed, when crash happend it gave me a popup window to say that it has met a problem and have to be closed.
okay, let's try enlisting some additional technical help then.
we'll get a crash log from itunes, and send it to so someone who can interpret crash logs.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it to this email address
    in the email:
    (1) state the precise version number of itunes that you're using.
    (2) include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • When I access the "music" app it appears to be accessing the internet constantly even with "match" turned off.  Is this normal? Draining battery?

I have an iphone 4s and I've had what I think is a quickly draining battery.  I've tried all the usual stuff with looking at "location" services, reducing the "push" emails, etc.  In the process, I decided to turn off "itunes match."  Still, I notice whenever I'm in the "Music" app, not even playing music, the iphone indicates internet activity with the circular wheel.  If I exit, it stops.  It constantly is moving when I'm in music.
Is this normal?  It seems to be draining the battery.
I've tried to re-boot, I've tried to re-store, and it still is constantly "going" even if I'm not playing music.
    What is up with this?
    Advice?
    Thanks.

More info.  I did a "reset" to all settings, this left itunes match off.  But, when I went into the music app, looked at the "songs" tab, all of my songs (including those "in the cloud) were there.  It was then that the "internet" symbol looked like it was syncing again, even though I had "match" off.   Ugh...I guess I'll need to set this up as new phone to see if I can avoid this constant draining of the battery when playing music?
