ITunes 6 not burning.
I'm having problems burning CD's in iTunes 6.0.1. I have manage to burn one CD of purchased music in iTunes 6 prior to updating my software. After asking to burn a play list it asks to insert CD (yes tried various quality brands of CD-R), checks the media, checks the play list and then stops with the apple icon reappering and NO error message. I have not exceeded the 7 burns as only managed one, this "short term memory loss" applies to my own imported music as well. I have tried the following troubleshooting tips (making sure it is set to burn Audio CD, trying different burning speeds, nothing else running/open, adjusting my energy settings to not sleep for hours including the HD, making sure the computer is recognising the driver, trying to burn "brand new" purchased music, took away that nasty Virtual PC, ran the Tech Tool). I am a novice to iMac having grown up in the Classic gen so may have missed the bleeding obvious. Next stop will be the phone unless someone can point me in the right direction. Ta
uhm well sounds like the kind of problem I had with
TDK cds before.. It is quite frustrsting.. and what's
worse it doesn't seem like anybody knows why any of
us have started having problems burning cds since the
latest itunes upgrade.. not that there seems to be a
further upgrade available to fix the eventual
problems either.. and nobody even tried to answer my
post last week.. so what IS going on? ( I mean I
can't really complain because I've actually solved my
problems by switching to Sony cds.. even though they
aren't so easy to find.. but it's not like anybody
has even tried to offer an explanation on why on
earth tdks don't work anymore on my machine..)
Have you tried repairing the disk permissions since the iTunes upgrade?

Why will my itunes not burn music anymore?
I accidently downloaded a program that was for another music website, but when I unintalled and deleted it. My itunes stopped recognizing my burner. Help please.
iTunes 10.3 is a beta so your current version is upto date.
If you want 10.3 you have to download it from the Apple site.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Having said taht it seems I am out of date.
Apple software update is showing it now, although still not in iTunes itself, -
Ok My Itunes will no longer burn a CD. I put a blank CD in...it checks the playlist, starts to intialize...says the title of the first song, like its getting ready to start burning. Then it says "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred(4280).
I have searched the web and this site looking for the answers. But none of them seem to be working. I have an HP pavillon laptop with vista. Recently I upgraded my Itunes to 7.5.0.20....i think thats the version at least. All the drive problems I see are about a sony drive...but I did that diagnostics testing and this is what came up...

If anyone knows how to fix this it'd be great.Hi highpeakshiker,
From your post I see that you're running into playback issues with CD's that you burn from iTunes. To troubleshoot these burned CD issues, please follow the directions in the article below.

ITunes 2131 burning error - Toshiba Patch
There have been a lot of posts on various support sites about iTunes not burning to CDRs using various models of Toshiba Laptop - instead showing a '2131 Error'.
I've just read on the apple support forum that Toshiba have released a patch to fix this..
Does anyone know if it's available anywhere on the net? Or if any Toshiba Support Techs read this forum - could let me know where on the website can I find the patch?
Thanks for your help,
Rob.I finally got a hold of someone very helpful on the Toshiba support line, and he said that the order for this driver patch has been put in to the engineering department but he didn't have a date for me as to when the patch will be available online.
He did say that he thought it would be within the month, which is vague but at least something.
He said to just keep an eye on support.toshiba.com. When the patch is ready, it'll be made available on that site. You can subscribe to their update list so that when the patch is made available, it'll notify you via email.
Hope that's at least a little bit helpful! -
I am trying to burn some cds from my playlist on itunes, but my playlist shows many of my songs in light print and says that it will not burn because it is not a file, these are all songs I have purchased quite a while ago, how do i get them to files?
If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library -
I can not burn a CD with my itunes anymore. It tells me to re download itunes. I have done that and still have the same problem. When I do try, Missing disc recorder keeps coming up. Please help!!!!
Hello again, Stew.
Also when I open itunes it gives me a warning and says "The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importingand burning cd's and dvds are missing. Please reinstall itunes."
With that one let's first try a reboot and repair.
Reboot the PC (very important), and the do a *repair install* of iTunes.
Go to your "Add or Remove Programs" control panel, select iTunes, click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Does iTunes launch without the error message now?
If no luck there, try checking for a device filter conflict in your registry:

ITunes 8.1 will now not burn/import or play anything at all.
Ok since installing the new 8.1 upgrade of iTunes I am now unable to anything at all. First of all a window popped up tp inform me that the drivers could not be found so I couldn't burn so please re-install iTunes. So I did and now not only will it not burn anything, it will not import ( it won't recognise any cd that i put into my drive at all ),it won't recognise my ipod and it won't play anything that is in my music library at all. So is there going to be a repair to this from apple at any point? I now have now way of getting anything onto my ipod at all. I have tried to re-install itunes several times since and still get nothing. It just does not do anything at all!!! Come on apple, this is serious, can someone please sort it?
try removing the iTunes, then do a fresh install and this time check the box for installing both Bonjour for Windows and Quick Time.

In iTunes 11.1.3.8 on my Windows 8 HP Laptop, when trying to "Burn Playlist to Disc", I get the Burn Settings window "E: hp DVD A DS8A9SH", then I select MP3 CD and click "Burn", I unfortunately get the dreaded iTunes "disc burner or software not found...". I think this is the second time this has happened (first time I think a simple reboot fixed it), and I assume because iTunes was updated this issue came back again and I cannot burn MP3 cds anymore because of it!
I've followed all steps outlined in this support article "iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install" (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308)
Solution 1, no updated firmware was available for dvd drive.
Solution 2, not relevant because those files were not present when I looked for them.
Solution 3, I'm familiar with regedit and did exactly what the step by step instructions told me including rebooting multiple times to completely remove Gear drivers/keys, installing the new Gear driver files with their official setup file "For 32-bit and 64-bit systems:" from http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php (and gave another reboot just in case) and opened iTunes at the very end of the entire process.
Still getting the dreaded "disc burner or software not found..." error when trying to burn a playlist to a CD. The weird thing is when I click Burn playlist to a CD, I see the DVD drive "E: in the next prompt which asks for Data CD/MP3 CD, Audio CD.
So I clicked on Help > Run Diagnostics, selected "CD/DVD Drive tests" only and clicked "Next".
Window says "To begin the test, please insert a prerecorded audio cd..." so I did that and clicked "Next".
Under "Choose an optical drive to test:", the drop-down menu only shows "[Choose a Drive]", no other options. Under "Optical drive:" it says "No drive chosen for testing.", and I click the "Next" button.
Here are the diagnostics output I got:

I'm extremely confused as to what to do next. I was thinking I should try reinstalling iTunes but I'm not sure that would even work and I'm so paranoid about installing it correctly and referencing the right existing library files that I'd like to see other suggestions first.
Any help from the community or Apple would be tremendously appreciated and I would be glad to do more testing and provide more details. Thanks!Hi there aaxim,

Hello:
I have installed Itunes on my new Windows 7 based computer (64 bit) and get the following error message everytime the program opens, "ITunes not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CD's, you must reinstall ITunes." So, I have removed ITunes, Quick Time and Apple associated software, twice, from my computer and reinstalled the latest version (10.4.1) but get no fix to the problem. ITunes will import CD's but will not burn them with this error in place. Anybody know how to fix this problem?if you have 64bit os this is problem:
Any 64-bit version of Windows is not supported so you should expect certain things not to work. From Apple's iTunes page the Windows requirements are:
32-bit editions of Windows XP or Vista
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later required for Apple TV or iPhone
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
QuickTime 7.1.6 or later (included)
256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music -
My iTunes just started not burning my playlists to a CD saying iTunes needs to be reinstalled. I do not know how to reinstall with out that pop-up request. I checked the latest version under help and I have the latest version. I do not know how it could have created an error that will not allow me to burn my playlists to CDs.
many thanks.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes -
My itunes will not burn cd. telling me new burning software added may cause this
I recently had Windows Vista put on my computer. I had Roxio put on it also. I tunes will not burn my playlist because of this. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes . this does not correct the problem. I tuunes is telling me there is no disc burner found.
Hello bacovino,
From what you describe it sounds like you are getting this error message when trying to burn a CD in iTunes even after uninstalling the iTunes application:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I recommend uninstalling not only iTunes but its associated softwares as well, as outlined in the following article:
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3299
iTunes installs a device filter which helps it work with your optical drive. If this device filter is missing, you will see the message mentioned above. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to reinstall iTunes and put the device filter back in place:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
If the issue persists after re installing iTunes again, there is additional troubleshooting in the article that involves installing the device filter in Windows, which it walks you through.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

1) create playlist folder in itunes.
2) add songs to folder.
3) put songs in desired order.
4) burn playlist to cd.
5) playback cd and discover order is incorrect.
6) look on internet for help - hours later, discover there is none.
7) bust cd in rage - vacuum up shards.
8) start looking for alternatives to itunes.
mood: dispondentIn step 5, did you play the CD in your computer or in a CD player? If you play in your computer, it will play in the order selected by the highlighted column in list view. I invested a CD and 10 minutes to show you this.
Here is the paylist sorted by track number.
Here is the CD as it first appears in iTunes after burning. Notice that it is sorted by album. I didn't yet select a sort column but it appeared sorted by album with the album column checked.
Here is the CD sorted by track number.
Here is the CD opened in Finder. Note the track numbers correspond to the burn playlist. This is the order they will play in a CD player.
Next time, try playing in in your CD player before resorting to steps 7 and 8. -

Itunes 10.5 for windows will not burn cds. Can you help?
I installed the 10.5 version of Itunes and it will not burn blank cds.
System: MIcrosoft Windows XP 2002. 32bit. Service Pack 3.
Solutions Tried:
--Clean re-install of Itunes
--Downloaded GEAR drivers
--Deleted and re-added upperfilters to registry (with correct GEAR string)
--Tested CD burner (NERO works)
--Reinstalled CD drivers
I am unable to solve the problem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
