ITunes 6 Won't Open Streams

I've got buggy behavior in iTunes 6:
Select Advanced/Open Stream... and the main window goes inactive (everything is kind of greyed out) and all the menus go inactive except Edit/Paste. The Esc key will leave this state and revert the program to a working state. I cannot open any URLs.
Also, iTunes/About iTunes... has the same behavior. No dialog box opens with info. about iTunes. Escape key leaves this state (i.e., Esc seems to be cancelling the non-existant dialog box).
This is frustrating because I'd like to be able to open new internet radio stations.

There were some people that had problems when upgrading from iTunes 4 > 5. I got a damaged library message and all was ok except I lost the "added to library " info. My fix was to downgrade to iTunes 4 then I waited for iTunes 6 and had no problems upgrading.
You should have a folder nested in the iTunes folder labled "Previous iTunes Libraries". If not create one and put the other libraries into that folder. In the end you should have 2 files and 2 folders in the iTunes folder. The files names are "iTunes Music Library.xml" and "iTunes Library". Then 2 folders labeled "Previous iTunes Libraries" and "iTunes Music". Your library labeled "iTunes Library" located in the iTunes folder is the "valid" one the iTunes uses to open.
If the tunes play I suspect that all is well. I have no answer for the iPod. Why not just restore the iPod and see if you have any more issues.

Hello everyone!
This morning I updated my iTunes to 11.1 upon being prompted (when I tried to connect my new iPad Mini). I run Mac OS X 10.6.8. The macbook also updated other softwares (auto update). I restarted my laptop, and now the iTunes just won't open. The first time I click it in the dock, the icon would just bounce thrice before settling down, and then nothing happens. Upon clicking again, it would bounce just once, but nothing opens. There is no error message either.
I have tried restarting, and also tried software update for the OS. I have checked the parental controls and administrative powers for the user.
Kindly help!

Jason,I used the troubleshooting link you gave and so far have 1.Fixed Digital Signing for Windows drivers.(didn't help) 2.Removing Itunes configuration files.
In this one I was told to delete the SC info.sidb file (I didn't have one of these when I got to the folder where it was supposed to be)The thing I haven't done is the mscofig.instruction. I was saving it for last as it sounded like it could really make a lot of changes to my computer.The Itunes installation icon is still on my desktop so I clicked on it and there was a link that said it would repair missing or damaged files in the Itunes software. It didn't help either. I can click on Itunes all day long and it won't open.I can't access the library either. I am going to do the last step you suggested and uninstall my security software and see if that helps. I appreciate all the help Jason.

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

Hi Guys:-
If this SAME problems is effecting us all then suspect its not IPS problem as we all get problem at 995.6MB.
I would think that there is some kind of software conflict. If we all having this problem just think of how many users have the same but are not on this discussion board, bet you its 100s and 100s.
Not possible for me to visit store now but will monitor your responce's.
Good luck guys, lets make um give us a fix:- I will call them tomorrow and see what they say:- should point support to this Discussion page and they can answer us !

I had the same thing yesterday. After google gave me nothing and after I was sure my phone had enough charge to restart, I did a reset on my phone...
Holding down the Power button, volume button and selector button on the front - for about 30 secs (or untill I knew the beeping had stopped).
I cant remember if I then restarted it or it it restarted itself, but now its back to normal! No memory loss from the phone either.
Freeked me out as its a new iphone 4s but glad to have it back! Without having to take it to get fixed by a pro.

i don't know what is wrong with my iTunes. i double click on the shortcut and iTunes just won't open. then i try and click on it from the start menu, and nothing again. i have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about 3 times and still nothing changes. no error window or anything pops up even.

I was having the same problem - this fixed it for me:
Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be corrupt and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
* C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
* C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

To find the version of Mac OS X on your computer, all you have to do is click the Apple logo and then About this Mac. For more info, take a look at this doc -> Finding your OS X version and build information

This is an issue alot are facing rightnow because the quicktime bundled with itunes is more "Up to date" for now than the stand alone is. Even when its removed some of its more updated registery keys are left behind.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.
