ITunes 64 bit installer rolls back action on win 8 64 bit system

I do not know what i am doing wrong, I just bought a new win 8 64 bit system and iTunes keeps rolling back before the install completes. I have tried running it as administrator and turning off firewall but it did not work. Please Help.

Apple iPad appears to be under "Portable Devices" section and driver is from Microsoft. There is no driver under USB-section and instructions that provided in first reply I have gone thru and they are no go with this problem - they are more likely for older iPod etc devices and dot with issue to deal with 64bit/32bit things. The picture (image.jpg) gives me unfortunately just general error...

    Hello there Unicornbarf534,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are unable to successfully install iTunes. I recommend the troubleshooting instructions in this article named:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
Here is a general outline of where the troubleshooting will take you:
    General installation troubleshooting
    1. Empty your Temp directory and restart
    2. Completely remove iTunes and related components
    3. Install the latest version of iTunes
    Additional troubleshooting
After performing each of the steps below, you will need to completely remove iTunes and related components and then install iTunes again to determine whether the issue is resolved.
    1. Make sure you have administrator account access
    2. Make sure your folder names don't contain strange characters
    3. Get the latest Windows updates
    4. Disable other conflicting software
    Additional Information
If you only need to install QuickTime, or if iTunes installs but QuickTime installation did not complete
Try downloading and installing the standalone version of QuickTime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/. Be sure you download the version that does not include iTunes.
If the steps outlined in this article don't help, you may be able to find a solution to your issue by searching the Microsoft support website.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Can't install itunes 11.0.1 on windows 7...get a Rolling Back Action message

Hi...I cannot install iTunes 11 on my Windows 7 PC. The installation goes all the way through and I get a "Rolling Back Action" dialog at the end and the progress bar just goes backwards.
    Why is this happening?

Not an error that I've seen. What stage of the process are you at when this happens?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Installing itunes + quicktime rolling back action issues

hey, i know this has been mentioned before, but i have been searching hours on end to try and fix this and nothing so far
I just got an ipod touch, and when i go to the apple site to download the itunes and quicktime, i go to install and it keeps rolling back action and in the end it says that "quicktime was unable to install, itunes needs quicktime to install". I tried downloading both of the separately and they both keep rolling back actions. I dont have itunes or quicktime installed on my computer previously, and I am running them as administrators.
this is really frustrating as I cant even turn on my ipod touch because I cant install itunes, any help with this problem?

seein if anyone has a chance to help out

  • Apple Mobile Device Service won't install, "rolling back action"..

I reformatted my Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 2 32-bit) and reinstalled iTunes. For some reason, my iPod Touch 3G wouldn't sync so I decided to uninstall then reinstall everything. When I reinstalled, however, AMDS was missing, and during a few more installations, I saw "rolling back action".
So I dug around on here and Google and tried installing AMDS seperately (extracting iTunesSetup.exe). But it's not working and it's been taking me quite a while. Could anyone help me fix this issue?
Add: I tried doing basic things such as saving the exe file instead of running, Running as Admin, rebooting.. I also tried sfc /scannow and it successfully repaired all files.

  • Apple Mobile Device Service installation rolls back

    Hey there,
I've been having problems installing iTunes 9 or even 8 on my computer. While running the iTunes setup, part of the installation rolls back and when I launch iTunes after that, I get the message saying that
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
However, the installation doesn't work no matter how many times i reinstall it. I've fully uninstalled everything related to apple and used the microsoft's utility to check if they were properly uninstalled before reinstalling itunes, but I still got the same message.
I found out that Apple Mobile Device Service was not installed and that was the problem. When i extracted AppleMobileDeviceService.msi from the iTunes installer and ran it, it rolled back too. So I used the /l*v command to create an installation log and this is the error.

Can anyone help me please? Any help will be appreciated =P
    Cheers

I have recently been fighting my system to get itunes to recognise my iphone and i ran into a similar problem.
I couldnt uninstall the old version of apple mobile device support, and installing the new itunes over the top did not seem to help either.
But i found a work around.
Try opening the itunes.exe install package with winrar. (www.winrar.com, its a free program) and then extracting only the applemobiledevicesupport.exe file.
Reboot your system, run that file and then reboot again.
    It should work.
If it doesnt, then good luck to you :P

  • Reinstall Elements - "Rolling Back Action" Error

I am trying to reinstall Elements 7.  I need to do this because I had a system problem and I needed to do a clean new Windows XP install.  As a result of the XP reinstall, I have had to reinstall all my programs.
What happens with Elements is that I get to the screen that says "Registering Product" and the system stops, gives me a message that says "rolling back action" and the installation stops.
I called Adobe install help and they were less than useless.  They first had me run the Windows Installer Utility followed by the Adobe CS4 Clean Script.  Neither program found any problems and they did not help.  They then had me set up a new User ID on my computer and told me to log on as the new user.  Again - no joy.
I have successfully reinstalled Elements 3, Lightroom 2,5,  Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Acrobat without any difficulty.
When I did a WEB search on this problem, the only useful thing that I found was Adobe Service note kb406851 which talks about removing a cache file.  I do have that cache file but the note also says that I may have to reenter the serial numbers for my other Adobe programs.  I am loath to take this step.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This might be happening because of some of the bits of PSE 7 which didnt got removed from the machine while you removed/uninstalled PSE7.
Try following the steps mentioned in the below link and make sure that all the bits have been removed and then try to install PSE7 again.

What does SQL write to that allow changes to be undone or rolled back in case of a system failure?
    Hello,
If i read your question correctly you are asking about how uncommited transaction are rolled back. For this, concept of transaction log came into picture.where first changes were first made to transaction log and then into memory .Before any change is made
to real data file change is made to trn log files so that if rollback comes it can see in log and rollback it.
I would suggest you to read Famous article by log which will explain you

  • HT1926 itunes installation rolls back in windows 7

I had iTunes on my PC and I was using it until it failed to read my iphone, so I tried to reinstall it.  The installation of itunes 10.6 for 64 bit starts, but rolls back and aborts after the step labeled "copying files".  This happens again and again.

    Hi,
Try to install acrobat pro using this command : msiexec /i acropro.msi IGNOREAAM=1 /qb
on the location where the MSI file is located.
ex. if the installer is in acrobat folder on C drive then you need to direct the command on the command prompt window to c:\acrobat
    Hope this helps!

  • TS3212 Itunes 10.7 Rolls back installation after attempting to install on Windows Vista 64bit.

I downloaded the version in this link, presumably for Vista 64:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1577 . It goes through the process but rolls back the installaion and reports "error in installation". I turned off kaspersky Suite but got the sam emessage. Any ideas?

To clarify, I already have iTunes 10.6. Also, I just checked back on the iTunes installer (the manual one) and it now says: "iTunes Installer Completed
The installer encountered errors before iTuens could be configured.
Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified.
Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit."

  • Roll back action

Cannot install itunes to windows 7 (64).  Keep getting Roll Cak action.  Help

Do you have the exact text of any error message? Are you using the 64-bit installer? If not do so, otherwise try uninstalling iTunes and/or any other related Apple software, then reboot and try again. Use an account with administrative rights.

  • PSE 8 installation rolls back

    Hi,
I downloaded, unzipped, and can only install 99% before the installation status bar reads 'rolling back' and actually reverses the installation process. Can someone please help me or guide me through the installation process. All troubleshooting documents don't mention this issue and I can't find an explanation for this.
Thank you in advance for your time and understanding and apologize if I cause frustration. I have been know to be confused a lot...
I previously Catherine24 and am now Catherine 2224.

    Hi,
I finally was able to install it. I had to go under the exe file properties, and under compatibility tab, click run as adminstrator. I had done this only while right clicking and thought that would register it. Nope, I had to do the above and do the actual apply. I also put it in my C drive, dissable virus software, and bingo. This information was given to me by adobe tech support who guided me through the steps. Yeah! Very happy.
Thank you to all in advance who would have replied to help.

  • TVSU Installation Rolls Back

    Hi,
I have an R60 that was recently restored from the maintenance partition on my HDD.  I use WinXP and am current with SP3.  Machine Type 9456-66U.  I have installed Productivity Center ver. 3.11 but when I attempt to install the System Update ver. 3.14 file the install almost completes and then rolls back at the time the registry entries should be made.
The webpage where the System Update ver 3.14 download is give me a green check mark with regard to my Microsoft .Net being OK.
I did a search on TVSU roll back but got no results.
    Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • Dowloand 64-Bit Version of iTunes but Installer Says it Isn't 64-Bit and Won't Install

I download the latest, 64-bit version of iTunes.  When I try to install it, at the end of the installation process, I get a message saying that I it cannot install because I need the 64-bit version.  I just DOWNLOADED the 64-bit version, for Pete's sake.
I have down this four or five times now, and am getting tired of it.  What am I doing wrong?  I know I am downloading from the proper Web site - it is the Apple, iTunes site.

Download a fresh copy of the installer from this direct link:
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe
It is a 64-bit installer for mostly 32-bit components which is why parts go into both program files folders.
