ITunes 64 setup won't complete on y Vista 64 bit OS

Hope someone can help....
I've just purchased and set up a new Dell XPS running Vista Home Premium 64bit OS. Its a remarkable machine (lightning quick) however I wasn't aware that this 64 bit OS is an obstacle to some programs....I've worked out solutions to most issues howver this roadblock still stands....
I went to the Apple site and downloaded iTunes64 bit and got ready to transfer my music then wham...
When I run the i'tunes 64 setup I get this message:::
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
Your system has not been modified. To retry these opperations at a later time, please run the installer again"
I tried running it several times and I trued it as the system administrator...all to no avail...
Can anyone help me.
Frustrated in New England...

I am having a problem downloading to a new Windows Vista 64 machine. When I download using either IE or Firefox, the download gets to 14.7 MB and stops. Any ideas on why the download will not work?

  • ITunes store won't open on windows vista

Itunes itself opens fine, but when I go to iTunes store it is either blank or freezes

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • Itunes 12 won't launch, windows 7 64 bit

i had the previous version of itunes, as soon as i updated and opened itunes it opened a pop up box saying 'itunes has stopped working. a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. please close the program'. i have tried almost everything, hopefully, installing, reinstalling, checking for updates, changing user accounts, pening in safe mode, disabling internet, quicktime, removing all softwares relating to apple then reinstalling it, nothing is working, please help me find a solution for this.

You've possibly tried all of this, but just in case there is something that you've missed that I've noted down somewhere...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • TS3694 iTunes Update won't complete because of error message: "Apple Mobile Device failed to start ...".

When updating to the latest iTiunes, download and install work just fine until alomost to the end, when the install stops and I get the following message:  'Service Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.  That's all I get, and install stops completely after asking me to choose either "Abort', or 'Retry',
But I know I have privileges because my iOS devices (iPads, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch) work just fine.
So now, I can't use iTunes on my computer because I can't download the software.
    Great!

    Hello Clage,

  • ITunes 10 won't start in Windows Vista, but QuickTime Player will.

I recently had iTunes updated to iTunes 10 using Apple Software Update.
After the update was done, iTunes 10 worked well.
Then just earlier, I tried to start iTunes, but it won't.
No system message appears meaning there is no error.
I tried rebooting my computer and running iTunes again, but still no effect.
Anybody found a solution to this?

Good gracious. Okay, I've seen reports that uninstalling the utility resolves the BonJour Service issues. But it might be possible to configure it so it doesn't interfere with BonJour. (I haven't tried that with anyone else yet, so this is going to be experimental.)
I see from IOBit's description of the utility that it has some security functions:
    http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscarepro.html
Are you able to switch the security functions off? If so, with the security functions switched off, are you able to launch iTunes when the BonJour Service has been enabled?

  • ITunes setup won't launch on windows 8

I finally got to download iTunes on my new Gateway laptop with Windows 8, but when I open the setup wizard (or try to) it tells me I have to find a version that runs for my PC. This is really mgetting me frustrated so can someone please help me out?

This worked for me although i'm not sure if it will work for you. Go to task manager (right click on the taskbar then click "Task Manager") and find all processes related to iTunes or just Apple software in general. Hit "End Task" to each of them then open them up again using whatever shortcuts you have set up. If this doesn't work, then I don't know what to tell you.

  • ITunes setup/installation not loading (Windows 7 64 bit)

So I uninstalled iTunes because it wasn't able to recognize my iPhone for some reason even though Windows would (and it could be viewed in the 'Computer' folder). At first I could take pictures off of the phone by navigating through these folders: Computer/Apple Iphone/Internal Storage/DCIM (this is the usual way I take my photos off my phone, I don't sync them through iTunes). But now even that folder is empty and I can't export pictures from my phone either along with still not being able to use the syncing options in iTunes.
So either the issue is with the phone (as I have dropped it recently) or iTunes. I uninstalled iTunes to make sure it wasn't iTunes fault. And now I can't reinstall it. This NEW and bigger issue happens when I open 'iTunes64Setup'. After opening this file, Windows asks me "Do you want to run this file?" (usual security question) and I press the Run button like I usually would.
This is were the issue happens. After I press 'Run'. Literally nothing happens. The security question page disappears and you would expect the setup page to appear after but literally nothing happens. The computer doesn't even start lagging or anything along those lines. Its like as if I pressed the cancel button rather than the run button.
I was later told that I should delete all other iTunes related programs (4 of them to specific: Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple-Program Support, and Apple Mobile Device Support) before reinstalling iTunes. I uninstalled all 4 but AMDS does not uninstall (perhaps the syncing issues are because of this program and not iTunes). I use the usual method to try and uninstall. I double click to uninstall in Control Panel and a small window called 'Windows Installer' appears and the page says "Preparing to remove". Once this page disappears (after the green bar fills up and then for some reason emptys!?). So AMDS does not delete. I gave up and tried reinstalling iTunes again any way after deleting the other 3 Apple programs. I also tried uninstalling quicktime and restarted the computer many times. I also tried using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall AMDS but it doens't even appear in that list.
I still have the same issue. After the Run page of the setup nothing else appears.
I have also tried downloading older versions of iTunes using oldapps.com. All of those present the exact same problem after the security question page. I really badly need help reinstalling iTunes. Some one please help me. Would be much appreciated.

  • Driver won't install and setup won't finish on windows 8.1 64bit

    Hi
We have a HP PSC 1410 All-In-One installed on an old pc with windows 7 and the printer is working fine but I decided to move the printer and plug it in on my brand new ultra high end gaming pc with win 8.1 64bit on it for obvious reasons, because the pc is alot faster. Pc config: i5 2500k 4GHZ, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 970  4 GB,  you get the picture a very fast gaming pc lol.
I downloaded the proper driver on the hp support website and started the setup and windows doesn't recognize the printer and the driver.
Everytime I uninstall and reinstall the driver I get this error:
It seems to be my even though HP claims that they have windows 8.1 driver support for my printer, it actually doesn't support it. Because I even tried to install it on my HP (the irony lol) laptop with win 8.1 on it and it doesn't work. I get the same problems and errors.
So to recap it: setup won't complete, gives me an error and then uninstalls the software by itself ....
Can anyone confirm that this specific printer model works on win 8.1? If yes, why doesn't it work on both my pc and laptop with win 8.1? Why does it only work on my old pc with win 7?
It's really a shame because the printer (even though it's very old) is still great and I like it, I just wish it would work on my new pc.
If anyone knows how to fix this or with a workaround please do share.
    Regards
    Elvis

    Hiya @Elvis29,
First and foremost, I apologize for the delay, I have been researching what could be causing this issue, and more importantly what we can do to resolve it.
    Please complete the following steps and let me know the outcome of your efforts;
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted
I think in order to get the install package to install properly it would be best to unlock the admin account, then try to install again.
Let's begin with a clean boot first; How to perform a clean boot in Windows
    How to Unlock Admin Account:
Open an Elevated Command Prompt in Windows 8 & 8.1 (Instructions here)
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will  be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked
Under the Administrator account download and install the drivers using the Printer Install Wizard.
The Printer Install Wizard will by pass the Windows Installer. This runs its only installer or install shield, which will interact independent of the Windows Installer. This may allow the file that cannot be found, to be found and let the install finish.  HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
The HP Printer Install Wizard for Window was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.
If everything installs fine, log out of this account and back into your normal user account. All the Software and Drivers for your product should show installed now on your account.
If everything works fine, you will want to Hide the Administrator account.
Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:no and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
    Please keep me posted.

    Hi Rick,
by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.
    Success,
    Peter
